Confirmed Inert Potion still works, at least on Mangler TLP. The methods described (parking the turn-in guy, spam to fill 4 of the potions, submit, hail, repeat) works 100%. You don't have to hail him every time, but at least once a minute or so. Otherwise he will shadowstep somewhere else in the palace and you have to go find him before he completely despawns.

The quest works great if your Craftkeepers faction is high enough to begin the quest. If not, see my post under the Inert Potion quest page:

Quest no longer functions. Inert Potion is not given upon hailing either npc.

I killed both the mobs that drop faction and no doubt my paladin was max KOS. Been doing the giant quest to raise it for a few days now and only recently got to "threatening". This took a lot of effort and time.

Then I realized I could just go to the loyalty vendor and get "Potion of Peace: The Freeport Militia" for 172 crowns and that reset my paladins faction to "apprehensive". All I wanted to was not have anything attack my pali when I run through Freeport. 172 crowns is nothing if you need to fix this faction and it doesn't matter where you're at, it'll just reset to your characters default /consider to Freeport militia.

If you're trying to raise this faction cut all the crap the other people said and just do the giants in the desert quest. It gives 20 faction points per run and takes a fraction of the time the others mentioned take (which only give 1 point) So yeah do this one it's the easiest and fastest with the most faction boost i've found.

Ok, to clear up some confusion I'm posting what I did to use this quest and raise my KOS freeport faction up to amiably in a few hours. This is the Inert Potion quest in Erudin.

This method was described in a different post, but I changed a few things about it.

First off, yes Toresian says something about someone in the temple of Marr. Don't worry about it, I didn't. When you say to him "I study enchantment" a version of Slansin will spawn in the store near the bank. There are TWO versions of him. The more common one (at least for me) is a human model that conned light blue to my 70 pally. When I gave him a potion, I got negative faction hits with the guards and he would despawn. I ended up doing this for about 8-9 times getting the wrong one to spawn. Finally though, an Erudite male version of him spawned, and he had an enchanter pet. This is the version you want.

I taunted Slansin, and when he aggroed I took him up next to Toresian. None of the guards or other NPC's seemed to care. When he was right next to Toresian, I rooted him. His pet attacked and I rooted it a bit away from Slansin. This is where it would be helpful to have a friend along to hail Slansin over and over to keep him from walking away. Luckily my computer zones rather quickly, so I was able to camp out and get back in before root broke.

I had a hotkey set up with the first line being "/tar Toresian" and the second line being "/say I wish to assist Toresian". Here is where I found an interesting trick to speed things up. The inert potions he gives you are lore, however if something is sitting in an open trade window, you can request another one! My pattern was simple:

I would get a potion by using my hotkey. When I had it I would open a trade window with Slansin. This is where I would usually hail Slansin to keep him from wandering off. Then I would hit my hotkey again and spam it until I got another potion while the trade window was still open. Each time I would get a potion, I would drop it in another slot on the trade window. This way I was getting four faction hits per turn-in!

This still took me a few hours to go from max KoS to amiable. Don't be suprised if after doing this for a few hours and you find they still want to kill you. From what I've seen, the difference between max KOS and the next step up, threateningly, is HUGE. But once you get out of the "scowling, ready to attack" faction tier, it goes really quickly.

Another thought, since it happened to me. I accidently killed his pet once while running him up to Toresian. When I had him right next to Toresian and was doing turn-ins, he eventually summoned another pet that was right in the way of doing turn-ins, no matter what angle I tried. I didn't really want to root him and camp all over again. I found that if I taunted just the pet, but never actually hit him, the pet would attack but Slansin would still do the quest. I did this and had the pet to my back, hitting me once in a while for 1. Low lvl peeps might not be able to pull that off, but at 70 it was a cakewalk.

Also, if Toresian will not give the quest, kill the low lvl necro that spawns near the docks in Toxx forest. Collect his bones for some free guard faction as well. I did this for an hour or so and was then amiable to Toresian (I started at dubiously)

This quest does still work. You cannot aggro the "real" Slansin (old model male Erudite). But you can aggro the "fake" Slansin (new model, male Erudite caster), who is an enchanter with a pet.

Handing the potion to the "real" Slansin gets you some negative hits but causes him to despawn. Saying "I study enchantment" to Toresian causes a new one to spawn that may either be "real" or "fake". Repeat until you get the fake Slansin, then aggro and drag up to Toresian. Root and camp/zone or whatever to drop aggro and hold him in place. Hailing will keep Slansin in place.

Regarding the pet getting in the way, start out doing the quest with Slansin facing the opposite way that you mostly want to do quest. When he summons the pet, it will spawn in front of him. Then you can move to his other side and pet will be behind him.

My hotkey was /targ Toresian, /say I wish to assist Toresian, /targ Slansin, /hail, with some pauses in there for lag. Hit the button, give potion, hit button again, repeat.

I just did this for my human paladin. I was getting tired of the guards attacking while trying to make cultural armor or going to the bank in W Freeport.

Just tried to do this quest on 3/21/2010. Fake Slansin does not take the Inert potion from me a dwarf paladin who is KOS to freeport militia etc. Everytime I try the hand in he just says "I have no need for this item, you can have it back." Not to mention hailing him when he is near Toresian does not stop him anymore as he just keeps walking back.

you can use an alt/mule/etc to get 150 of these rebby's rat whiskers (7.5 stacks). then you can sneak behind nestral (Use Rogue Shroud) and turn them in even if you're KOS to underground traders faction. i read in another post that this would be enough to fix faction for both traders and militia.

that's a Ton of running and collecting maybe someday i will have the patience to do that, i did one stack and it gave me a backache and headache just sitting there in ultra-boringness :(

scroll down and this is the post i read..

Old post

Quote:
... find Nestral TGaza, a dark elf rogue. Ask her "Who is Rebby?" and she'll give you a note to give to Rebby, ... After doing this 150 times, my iksar was regarded dubiously to the Militia, and very well (warmly or ally) to the merchants in East and West Freeport.

Just worked on this last night. The posts below told me how. I helped a pally kill Sir Lucan once, a long time ago.. been max KOS ever since. Last night, I went to Erudin and in a matter of hours, went from Max KOS to Max Aly!!

What's more, I also went Max Ally with:
Coalition of Tradesfolk
Coalition of Tradesfolk Underground
Corrupt Qeynos Guards
Carson McCabe

All without a single negative faction hit!

Hey the problem is that you guys are turning n Death Fist belts! They lower the faction with Freeport Malitia!!! They do raise the faction with Steel Warriors though. I am a 10 warrior human who is Dubious with her West Freeport guards, because she was killing evil. Shintl Lowbrew is bad to kill even known she's evil! The Freeport Militia doesn't know it but, Shintl Lowbrew is serving the dark elf Queen, and so is Opal Darkbriar! So I'm doing the right thing and starting to be KOS with my own guards! That's upserd! How do I raise my faction with the Freeport Militia, and not hurt my faction with Knights Of Truth or Steel Warriors???
Please do reply, for the fact th at I'm desprate.
And btw Shintl is great exp, but don't kill her to many times, or you'll end up like the 10 warrior who is desprate like me.

How to easily raise FP militia faction...
# May 18 2002 at 3:43 PM Rating: Excellent
Ok; I've killed Lucan I don't know how many times, and done this after every time to get back my faction in WFP and EFP...takes a few hours but is easy and effective.

This takes two people to do it the quickest...

-Go to the top of the erudin palace to Toresian, and have a friend stand there.
-Go down to the Jars Of Vitality (next to the bank) and taunt (or smack) Slansin...pull him up to where your friend is standing by Toresian.
-Have your friend hail Slansin; keep doing so until next step complete...
-Root Slansin next to Toresian (you'll know why in a minute) and then get out of cast range and log; make sure your friend keeps hailing him.
-Log back on, and while friend is still hailing him, make two hotkeys...
hotkey one: (line 1) /target Slansin
(line 2) /hail

hotkey two: (line 1) /target Toresian
(line 2) /say I wish to assist Toresian

(can always make the hotkeys beforehand though ;)

-ok; now that ya have this set up, all ya have to do is keep alternating between the hotkeys...give the jar that ya get from Toresian to Slansin a few times, then hail slansin with other hotkey, etc....OR you can do this the hard way, keep Slansin down at his normal spawn area and walk through the entire zone for one jar :P

Now, if ya don't have the faction to do this, go to the docks in Toxx forest near Erudin...there is a lvl 20 or so necro that spawns every two mins or so there. Kill him for a couple hours and you'll have the faction to do this.

Keep in mind; this little quest with Slansin and Toresian can take several hours; but it's no risk and raises Freeport Militia, Corrupt Qeynos Guards, and a few other nice factions....NO NEGATIVE FACTION HITS EITHER.

Have done this several times-it IS proven to work....gl to ya :)

Hello, Magician here and I have no root ability.
I am also unfamiliar with smack is that an Emote like poke? What can I do to alleviate the no root problem? Can my partner root him and still be ok or would he attack my partner b4 I relogged? If my partner just hails Slansin as he walks by and I just zone and then rezone would that work too? BTW hail stops slansin from walking back to his area? I have never been to this zone so I do not know the area but I DO NEED to get faction back with FP militia. AND JUST SO I GET THE IDEA IN MY HEAD...............................
You are basically Taking a jar from Toresian and giving it to Slansin and that gives you the faction correct?

Make a level one necro mule. get the level 1 pet spell.

Use the guard here command to park your pet by slansin. Target slansin.

Move over by toresin. Have your friend waiting here. use your pet command /pet attack. The pet will attack slansin, and will die fast. Slansin SHOULD run over to where your lvl 1 necro is, and kill him next. Have your friend begin hailing slansin. Camp to your real character, and begin doing the quest.

Why does every quest to raise faction for a char. who is KOS with freeport milita starts inside east or west freeport or a guard outside? I mean how the HELL are you supposed to start these? Aside from killing orcs to get into north freeport which takes FOREVER there are no quests to raise faction from KOS to getting by. I was able to regain my faction with the militia with my 53 War. by killing guards in nfp for faction then killing orcs to repair it. I like a good challenge but raising faction with freeport militia is near impossible, especially when playing an Iskar Monk who is KOS everywhere.

Any help would be appreciated

I am a level 10 half-elf warrior. Someone was killing milita guards while in wolf-form and leaving their corpses behind. So I looted them and sold the stuff they had....except for their helms, which I turned in at the Pallys guild. Now I am KOS to the militia. The player (who claimed to be partially at fault for this happening to me) bound me in North freeport. So I have been killing minnows in front of the hall of truth. No matter how many I kill, I never seem to be able to go back to east or west fp without being attacked and having to zone. How many does it take to get from glares angrily or whatever to dubious?

My druid ended up grouping with a friend and we killed 10 or 12 toll booth guards maybe more in WC. I understood that I would be KOS but with wolfform I figured no problem get DF belts turn in Faction would be ok. But when I go into wolfform I'm still ready to attack. Is there a difference between shared wolfform and self wolfform. Does anyone have any other ideas to raise faction with Freeport Militia. Thank you
Easy Way
# Dec 28 2001 at 7:08 AM Rating: Default
Alright I'll give out the secret very easy way i made my iksar loved by the militia...it's sort've cheating though. Not that tapping is really any different. Ok all i did was bring my iksar to the rogues area of the sewers then I camped. Then I made a freeport newbie and started the quests "message to Rebby", "message to Janam", and "message to Frikniler" (all these are found in the rogues area of the underground). After each of these character gives me the items to return back to Harkin, t'gaza, and Glenn Frikniller I just drop them in an area near where my iksar had camped out(and out of the way of NPC's who might pick it up) then I camp and bring my iksar back in pick up the items and turn them in for three nice faction hits. I used an iksar monk for this and while everyone else was at first KOS to me the rogues werent for some reason. Can't say whether the same is true for any other class though. Still have to kill Orcs for the Ashenhand faction to use the monk guild in any case and I have no idea how to make an iksar able to bank anywhere other than cabalis and highpass hold.
Oh and one other thing...the quests doesn't hurt knight of truth faction so if you are ambitious and want to go to North FP (and have high milita faction) you could always kill a milita guard to gain knights of truth and then use the quest to repair the hit over and over until you are finally accepted. Once again still can't bank :(

An iksar visiting the paladin guild does raise a few eyebrows though hehe

ok the final say on the freeport faction, cause i have been doing it with an iksar monk for the last 2 weeks.
orcs raise knights of valor, ashen hand, and one other faction not freeport millita. when you kill enough orcs, you can use the secret tunnels to get to north freeport from west freeport. you will be ok with the guards cause they are all on the knights of valor(or pally) faction. you can use the bank, but the vendors will not sell to you, unless indiffernt or higher. for faction in west freeport and the millita, get belts, get shared wolf form, turn them in a load at a time. do this faction first, cause killing orcs forever gets really boring and since killing orcs wont lower millita faction, i recomend that this be done. that way, you are non kos to the millita and non kos to the pally guards(all named sir) in north freeport. just be careful not to run near the other caster guilds cause you will get nuked. there is no permanent faction hit, its just a long and hard process to get it back up. you can also raise millita faction by turning in orc pics and then derv rings to guard valon in west commons, you just have to be non kos i believe. but that might be too low, indifferent might be better. happy hunting.
