This group mission begins with Keeper Dilar Nelune (click for map image) in the Norrath's Keepers camp of the Lavastorm Mountains.

Pre-requisites for requesting this task:
- Must be warmly faction with Norrath's Keepers
- Completion of all Tier 4 tasks and flags (including the raids)

You say, 'Hail, Keeper Dilar Nelune'

Keeper Dilar Nelune says 'Should we all perform to Chieftain Aderi's expectations, the races of good and light will bring an end to the threat of evil upon Norrath.'

You have been assigned the task 'Origins of the Curse'.

According to reports from our preliminary scouting expeditions, we believe that someone, or something, unleashed a curse within the Nest shortly before our soldiers first arrived. Venture into the Next and see if you can recover any clues as to the nature of this curse.

Touch the portal to The Nest in the Broodlands 0/1 (The Broodlands)

The entrance is in the southeastern part of the Broodlands.

Explore the Fire Lair in the Nest 0/1 (The Accursed Nest)

Locate an NPC called "Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet". From the zone-in point, head west, and then make a left (turn south to the zone's fire wing) at the first 'intersection' in the tunnel. You'll find it there. This is a location update; you don't actually have to speak with him, but doing so will provide some information:

You say, 'Hail, Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet'

Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet says '`Yeah? What do you want? Were you sent by my [master] to give me a good savaging? C'mon then. Make it fast.''

You say, 'Who is your master?'

Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet says '`What master? Don't tell me you wandered down here on your own?. . . I'm talking about the necromancer that unleashed the curse on this place. I used to be his summoned pet, you know? I was a good pet too--always fetching things and spying on people for him--then one day he takes me on a [mission] into this crazy dragons' nest and I accidentally dropped one little potion. Like that--,' Zebeker snaps his fingers, '--my master flies into a rage and commands me to stay here for all time. I've been stuck here ever since, watching my bones grow brittle and the walls gather dust. I don't even have anything to read!''

You say, 'What mission?'

Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet says '`No, sorry. I can't tell you what that still-hearted maggot pie of a necromancer was up to. I'm his summoned pet after all and I can't betray him even though he deserves it a thousand times over. I'm bound by his magic, you see, and until I get my [bone chips] back, I'll forever be his servant, forced to obey his blasted, ill-conceived commands. By the gods, how I hate that necromancer!''

You say, 'What bone chips?'

Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet says '`The bone chips that he used to summon me. Only if I have those can I be free of his contestable control. After I dropped the potion, he crushed my bone chips into four shards and threw them into. . . into . . . Aaagh! His magical control over me is preventing me from saying, but if you can find my crushed bone fragments, I can be free again. Then I can I can tell you everything I know about this accursed nest we're both stuck in.''

Find the Fragments of Zebeker's Bone Chips 0/4 (The Accursed Nest)

From here, you have to find and kill 4x "a remnant of the curse" (Level 73 dervish mobs). These mobs are non-KOS and are not social with the other mobs in the zone. Each of them drops 1x "Fragments of Zebeker's Bone Chips". Once you have the four fragments, return to Zebeker, and turn them in. They can also be handed to Zebeker one at a time by anyone in the task.

Reports indicate the locations of the remnants are somewhat randomized. You'll want to look in any of the five 'rooms' in the south wing (this includes the two bridge rooms).

The remnants hit for a max ~1,100; have ~50,000 hitpoints; and are stunnable and mezzable. They are relatively less difficult than the general zone population.

a remnant of the curse whispers faintly, 'Deathhh findsss you.'

a remnant of the curse has been slain by _____!
a remnant of the curse's corpse withers and shrinks to the ground

Return Fragments of Zebeker's Bone Chips to Zebeker 0/4 (The Accursed Nest)

In the task window, you now see:

Metafuze says, 'I'm free! Now, as promised, I'll tell you everything I know. My master snuck in here through a secret cave entrance and unleashed this curse upon the Nest. He wanted vengeance against the dragons for their "crimes" as he often put it. I could tell that much by his maddening rants. Unfortunately, I cannot say more. My master left me shortly after completing the curse and said that if I ever repeated his name, I would be blasted from Norrath before I could pronounce the first syllable. I believe him too!

Speak to Chieftain Relae Aderi 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains)

Chieftain Relae Aderi (click for map image) is found in the Norrath's Keepers camp. Hail to complete.

You say, 'Hail, Chieftain Relae Aderi'

Chieftain Relae Aderi says, 'You say a necromancer had a hand in this? Hmmm, I expected dark magic was afoot. I must report this to Firiona and allow her to meditate upon the situation. In the meantime, you should get some rest. Norrath's Keepers may require your assistance soon.'

Rewards:
68 Radiant Crystals
1x "Norrath's Keepers Token" (faction turn-in item)

Note: If doing this mission as part of progression, you'll want to check in with some NPCs to make sure your flags are up to date. See this quest entry for more details.

Short description of the way I do this quest:

Take the Tunnel to the west. Make a left at the T. Pass Zebeker, hail him if you want, I don't, continue south. Cross bridge, take the left tunnel. Go right into the bridge room, get one there. Come back out, continue around clockwise. Come to Matching room, get two there. Go south into Hatching room, get the last one there. Succor and hope you succor the toon with the 4 drops.

Good hunting.

The above walk through is pretty much spot on. Only difference was I had 2 in the first room and not the 2nd.
Players can be added to the task just before final hail.
It says level range is 15 but I failed to add a player that was 11 levels different (82 - 71).

If you are done with Tier 4 and you can't get Chieftain Relae Aderi to give you the dragon prompt, you have not done this and or The Curse of Ju'rek.

So how is that Ownage? This was designed for 6 level 70s, with no demi+ gear. It's EXPECTED that 3 level 75s, 2 in anguish to demi gear, can beat it.

Actually, I'm sure many appreciate his sharing of information (as I do), and can use it for their purposes of building a group to complete this mission.

Make sure the same person loots all 4 drops!!

Seems Zebeker will NOT accept them if they are from different people. Says he will only accept all 4 at a time.

I don't believe they do. I just single-pulled one across an entire room loaded with mobs and it came alone.

I think what happens to make players suspect otherwise is that the puller gets too close to a mob, or to a SI mob, on the run back and gets aggro himself.

With a good experienced puller who knows the zone I bet this mission could be completed in 30 minutes. On the other hand, having taken 4 hours to finish it just now, I am quite comfortable with never seeing "a remnant of the curse" in my target window ever again. ;)

We just completed this task on Quellious. It took us 62 minutes from the time we hailed Zebeker to the hand in.
(War, Cleric, 2 Monks, Bard and Ranger)

A few things I noticed: Zebeker, a necromancer's pet is NOT trackable from zone in. You need to move towards the LAVA area. (South end of west side)
He stands in the middle of the hall leading to the Lava area. Once you hail him, (apparently not a necessary step since the task updates when you approach him) continue south. We found our first two remnants in the bridge room and the first hatchling room on the west side of the tunnel. The remaining two were in the far south room of the area.

The zone did repop behind us. Bearing in mind we were done in 1 hour, the repop timer is about normal. This task was really easy, actually. Bard slows were plenty... even when we had 2-3 red cons to fight. 68 crystals for 62 minutes? Sounds like a good deal to me.
Fast?

When you get the mission, this is the task text:

Quote:
According to reports from our preliminary scouting expeditions, we believe that someone, or something, unleashed a curse within the Nest shortly before our soldiers first arrived. Venture into the Nest and see if you can uncover any clues as to the nature of this curse.

Once you collect and hand in your bone chips, you don't get any more lore text from the skelly. Instead, your task window updates to include the following text (in addition to the last bunch):

Quote:
Metafuze says, "I'm free! Now, as promised, I'll tell you everything I know. My master snuck in here through a secret entrance and unleashed this curse upon the Nest. He wanted vengeance against the dragons for their "crimes" as he often put it. I could tell that much by his maddening rants. Unfortunately, I cannot say more. My master left me here shortly after completing the curse and said that if I ever repeated his name, I would be blasted from Norrath before I could pronounce the first syllable. I believe him too!

Return to Chieftain Relae Aderi with news of your expedition.

When you hail the Chieftain:

Quote:
You have received a character flag!

You have been given: Norrath's Keepers Token

You have gained 68 Radiant Crystals.

Need to be warmly or ally with Norrath Keeper's to get this mission. It is the first DoN Progression Tier 5 task, 6 people max. Task is given by Keeper Dilar Nelune in Lavastorm.

Objective Instructions
----------------------------------
- Touch the portal to The Nest in the Broodlands
- Explore the Fire Lair in the Nest (find Zebeker, a necromancer's pet)
- Find the Fragments of Zebeker's Bone Chips (4)
- Return Fragments of Zebeker's Bone Chips to Zebeker (4)
- Speak to Chieftain Relae Aderi

The dialogue with Zebeker.
----------------------------------
You say, 'Hail, Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet'
Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet says '`Yeah? What do you want? Were you sent by my [master] to give me a good savaging? C'mon then. Make it fast.''
You say, 'What master?'
Zebeker, a necromancer`s pet says '`What master? Don't tell me you wandered down here on your own?. . . I'm talking about the necromancer that unleashed the curse on this place. I used to be his summoned pet, you know? I was a good pet too--always fetching things and spying on people for im--then one day he takes me on a [mission] into this crazy dragons' nest and I accidentally dropped one little potion.

His magical control over me is preventing me from saying, but if you can find my crushed bone fragments, I can be free again. Then I can I can tell you everything I know about this accursed nest we're both stuck in.''
----------------------------------
Find and kill 4 A Remnant of the Curse mobs (lvl 73) These look like large rock dervishes with a glowing core, and are indifferent until attacked. They do not assist other mobs in The Nest, nor do other mobs assist them. Each Remnant drops a "Fragments of Zebeker's Bone Chips". Once you have the four fragments, return to Zebeker and turn them in. Once turned in, you need to return to Lavastorm and talk to Chieftain Relae Aderi again for the reward (Norrath Keepers faction token and 68 radiant crystals)

Mobs in the Nest in this task are yellow and red con for lvl 70 characters and have little HP and are otherwise fairly weak. Did this task with 5 people (monk, paladin, wizard, shaman, enchanter) with Tacvi and MPG Raid Trial gear. Expected a big bad boss to pop once the 4 fragments were turned in, but no such thing. Exp is great in the Nest so this task is very good for both exp, faction and crystals. Very easy and fast.
