Mudarik Aletipper may be found in the Wayfarers camp in Natimbi (sitting between some crates near Magus Releua's shelter, -726, -1661, +264). The Cragbeast Queen spawns at the top of the hill in Natimbi at around 12 AM gametime and despawns at around 2 AM. She requires a raid force to kill, and drops various minor items, including Scales of the Cragbeast Queen, Glowing Bile Drenched Jewel, Phosphorescent Bile, and Misshapen Cragbeast Flesh.

You say, 'Hail, Mudarik Aletipper'

Mudarik Aletipper spits out a mouthful of brew. 'Blast ye, ______! For the love of Brell what possessed ye to sneak up on a dwarf when he's drinkin'? I thought ye were the [Cragbeast Queen] come to have me for a light snack.'

You say, 'What Cragbeast Queen?'

Mudarik Aletipper nods knowingly and leans in close. 'Listen to me carefully, Halfling. Keep a wide berth if ye value yer skin. She's got a jaw as wide as an ogre's backside and as strong as a steel trap. From what I gather from the natives, she made an appearance after the great explosion rocked this island. They say she crawled right out of the ocean if ye can believe that. Rumor has it that she's been sleepin' for ages and the blast woke her up. Now she roams the beaches at midnight. She's not angry so much as plain famished. We've been lookin' for bands of adventurers like yerself strong enough to take her down. If ye have the skills and ye manage to best the blasted lizard, come back and speak to me. There are [rewards] to be had for such bravery.'

You say, 'What rewards?'

Without a Misshapen Cragbeast Flesh in your inventory:

Mudarik Aletipper sifts through your belongings for a few moments. 'Nay, friend. I don't see that ye have anything from the Cragbeast. Did ye really kill her and come seeking a reward, or are ye just pulling an old dwarf's leg?'

If you have Misshapen Cragbeast Flesh in your inventory, you get this:

Mudarik Aletipper says 'What's this, ______? A chunk of oddly shaped flesh that ye recovered from the Cragbeast Queen? It almost looks like a face, if ye squint your eyes and turn yer head like so. An ugly face at that. Hmph. Maybe there's something to it that I'm not seein'. Hrmph, [reminds me]. . .'

You say, 'Reminds you of what?'

Mudarik Aletipper shrugs. 'Well, ye see. There was this friend a' mine, goes by the name of Reyna. She was always blabbin' on and on about how wayward spirits see the world differently, sayin' they have mysterious ways of seein' things that the living cannot. Never quite understood what she was on about. Bunch of blooming balderdash if ye ask me.'

The spirit Mudarik refers to is named Caridwi, who spawns in Yxxta at -240, -2115, behind the riddle door near the golems, on a rock near the Primal Reptile.

For information about getting past the locked door to the Primal Caves, see this quest entry.

Caridwi spawns at 4 AM gametime and despawns at 6 AM.

Information needed to connect Reyna with Caridwi.

You'll see an emote in the area when Caridwi spawns:

A haunting song echoes in the dank caverns.

You say, 'Hail, Caridwi'

Caridwi is whistling an unusual tune. As she speaks, her song continues. The overlapping effect of the music and her melodious voice is haunting. 'Greetings Halfling, it is not often that someone visits me here. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw another person. Ever since that day in the Coliseum my life has been so strange. Time has all but lost its meaning, and I see the most unusual things. Have you come to hear my [story], or would you like me to explain what the world looks like [through my eyes]?'

You say, 'Through your eyes.'

Caridwi says, 'It is difficult to describe. Things that used to be clear to me are now non-distinct, and . . . I see visions . . . that are inexplicably real but defy all common logic. For instance, I see you carry a trophy from an epic battle; a misshapen lump of flesh that you aquired from a tremendous foe. You do not understand. Please allow me to borrow it for a moment so I can show you.'

Give her the Misshapen Cragbeast Flesh.

Caridwi places her hand over your eyes and forces you to examine the Cragbeast Queen's Flesh through her transparent fingers. The skin takes the shape of a hideous mask. 'Do you see now, ______? Do you understand?'

You receive Visage of the Brute.

The Queen: I guess she is supposed to spawn at a certain time in open world zones, but she was up when i loaded an instance with AoC and the time wasn't right for her spawn time. Maybe this will work for others as well. Idk if there is an AoC with Yxtta because with there being a 12 miinute long riddle to solve I figured Caridwi would spawn before I could get to her regardless of if she was up in instance. I got done with the riddle as soon as her uptime was over. Hour of waiting now.

It's an old trick, but you can bypass the riddles by dismounting or clicking off an illusion while running into the locked door/wall. In order to be high enough to reach the ledge, levitate over from the zone in area to the top of the buildings and then to the door.

Set up an audio trigger for the presence of the Queen.
Read about killing the fierce cragbeast... okay, did so for luck since I arrived early.

Previous attempt before the patch netted 1 Scales, 1 Phos. Bile, 1 Jewel, 0 Flesh.

Spawned at midnight gate time, killed her off, loot is 1 Scales, 2 Bile, 0 Jewels, 0 Flesh
Checked the time - 1AM, checked track - queen is up again!
This time she dropped 1 Scales, 0 Bile, 1 Jewel, 1 Flesh!

Previous queen and 1st attempt today had greenish skin, 2nd queen had paler skin.
So both her screenshots are oddly accurate, not tinted by player experience.

BTW, regarding Reyna? I regret to inform you that she's dead. Looking for her lead to info for BIC #3.
Another quest on the to-do list.

Finished the Ear/Finger quest tonight. Not much dialogue, but here it is since it's missing. :)

---------------------

First, kill Cragbeast Queen, and loot the Glowing Bile Drenched Jewel. Next, take your shiny new jewel and speak with Mudarik Aletipper, the dorf near camp in Natimbi.

[Tue Jul 06 21:07:09 2004] Logging to 'eqlog.txt' is now *ON*.
[Tue Jul 06 21:07:10 2004] You say, 'Hail, Mudarik Aletipper'

[Tue Jul 06 21:07:14 2004] You say, 'What Cragbeast Queen?'
[Tue Jul 06 21:07:14 2004] Mudarik Aletipper nods knowingly and leans in close. 'Listen to me carefully, Halfling. Keep a wide berth if ye value yer skin. [Tue Jul 06 21:07:27 2004] You say, 'What rewards?'
[Tue Jul 06 21:07:27 2004] Mudarik Aletipper snatches the Bile Drenched Jewel from you and holds it up to the light. 'By Brell. Look at the craftsmanship, it's unmatched! Ye can tell by the way the gem was cut that it's from a magical ring - mighty powerful one I'd imagine. The rest of the ring was digested in the Cragbeast Queen's stomach so ye'll have to find a suitable replacement. Keep yer eyes peeled for a ring with room for a jewel and reforge the two pieces in a jeweler's kit. Ye shouldn't need any skill as a jewelcrafter per se, so needn't worry about that.'

The second piece, the Gemless Pristine Loop, is obtained in Uqua from Spectral Trushar Worshipper.

Combine Gemless Pristine Loop and Glowing Bile Drenched Jewel in a Jeweler's Kit. This combine is no-fail.

The result is: Loop of the Lizard Slayer

Caridwi
# Jul 04 2004 at 12:52 AM Rating: Good
Just a quick addition regarding Caridwi, you can tell when she has spawned by an emote in the area:

[Sat Jun 26 15:13:30 2004] Game Time: Thursday, January 26, 3180 - 3 AM
[Sat Jun 26 15:13:30 2004] Earth Time: Saturday, June 26, 2004 15:13:30
[Sat Jun 26 15:13:42 2004] A haunting song echoes in the dank caverns.

Also, when I got my mask, she actually didn't stay up until 6am game time. She despawned about 30 seconds early... staying up for 5m30s instead of 6 minutes. This actually cost me 72 minutes - I ran up to her and she despawned (a bit early, before 6am ticked over) right before I could hand in the flesh, so I had to wait another full game day, heh.
Huh?
# Jun 07 2004 at 2:12 AM Rating: Default
"The Cragbeast Queen spawns at the top of the hill in Natimbi at 11 PM gametime and despawns a few hours later"

I have seen her spawn well before 11pm and more than once a day. And is spawned for only a few minutes before she poofed.

The times she has spawned was seconds after I have killed A Fierce Cragwalker and she has spawned everytime it was killed.

RE: Huh?
# Jun 07 2004 at 11:29 AM Rating: Excellent
No.

She spawns at Midnight game time, occasionally she will spawn at what is technically 11pm game time (but will tick over to 12am a few seconds after the spawn). She despawns at 2am. One EQ day is 72 minutes, and one EQ hour is 3 minutes. Her spawn/despawn is relative to game time - it has absolutely nothing to do with the fierce cragwalker, or you killing it.

As long as I've lived in Taelosia I've never seen any so enormous. The beast must have been several centuries old!' All I need are the remaining raw [materials].'
[Tue Jun 01 22:37:43 2004] You say, 'what materials?'
[Tue Jun 01 22:37:43 2004] Larsaki hands you a compact box. 'Splendid. This is what will be required of you, Dubs. Bring me the raw materials necessary to forge the belt. This from The SafeHouse rogue boards:

Solved this quest today on Drinal server after getting a great tip from a very cool bard on Bertox named Naxis, send him a tell to say thanks for the tip.

After you get the Mishapen Cragbeast Flesh from the Cragbeast Queen in Natimbi, you need to head over to Yxtta and open the riddle door near the golems. At 4am in the morning near the Primal Reptile a Ghost will spawn named Caridwi. (Loc is –242, -2115) Hail her and follow the text and hand in your Misshapen Cragbeast Flesh for the Visage of the Brute. (nothing else is required but to hand it in) The mob will despawn at 6am, so you need to be there at the right time to find her. I honestly have no idea how I would have ever found this out without a tip, since I cant track and there was really no info given to direct you to that location. Special thanks to my guild mate Courtinae who helped me and got her mask today too. I hope everyone enjoys their new toy!

There is a dwarf in the camp named Mudarik Aletipper who will tell you what is needed (or hint at what is needed) for your Cragbeast quests. If he does not see an item that drops from CBQ in your inventory, his dialogue will basically end at (paraphrasing here) "I don't see anything in your bags so go away and come back when you have killed her."

-----------------

Lodestar - all/all primary/range 2hb

Requires "phosphorescent bile" from CBQ + "unlit beacon" from Uqua. Combine to make the Lodestar.

-----------------

Reward currently unknown - BRD/ROG - face slot

When you hail him and have "chunk of oddly shaped flesh" from the Cragbeast, you get this dialogue (Teidiani is a bard with Forged Souls, 7th Hammer):

[Fri May 14 20:23:48 2004] Teidiani says, 'Hail, Mudarik Aletipper'

[Fri May 14 20:23:48 2004] Mudarik Aletipper spits out a mouthful of brew. 'Blast ye, Teidiani! For the love of Brell what possessed ye to sneak up on a dwarf when he's drinkin'? I thought ye were the [Cragbeast Queen] come to have me for a light snack.'

[Fri May 14 20:23:54 2004] Teidiani says, 'cragbeast queen'

[Fri May 14 20:23:54 2004] Mudarik Aletipper nods knowingly and leans in close. 'Listen to me carefully, Half Elf.

[Fri May 14 20:23:59 2004] Teidiani says, 'rewards'

[Fri May 14 20:23:59 2004] Mudarik Aletipper says 'What's this, Teidiani? A chunk of oddly shaped flesh that ye recovered from the Cragbeast Queen? It almost looks like a face, if ye squint your eyes and turn yer head like so. An ugly face at that. Hmph. Maybe there's something to it that I'm not seein'.'

(the piece(s) required to finish this quest are unknown at this time, but the chunk of flesh says face slot, bard/rogue, so it will be a mask)

In the tailoring you take a high quality crag beast hide and some other stuff and it makes a 30% weight reduction bag. This is probably the quest for that. However where you get the cragbeast hide I have no clue. Except for the Cragbeast Queen, there are no cragbeasts in Natimbi. There are Tureptas, Hynids, Muramites (Noc, Ukun, Kyv, and Mastruq), Sirens, and Stonemites. A couple more sea creatures are there too, but no more Cragbeasts. I think you're thinking of Tureptas, Scalldon.

For those who don't know, Cragbeasts are giant lizards, non-shelled.

Both of these nihil females specify that they work with cragbeast scales. Not crustaceans.

So far the only cragbeasts I've encountered are nasty nasty things. I've seen some in a Tipt trial, and I've seen the Cragbeast Queen. No scales off the ones my group killed, just a couple hides that did not work for this quest (though I only have tattered and poor quality hides).
Hmm.

Nothing from this NPC with the "pile of crustacean scales" tried the phrase, and said i didn't have the right stuff, tried to turn it in, and nothing.. I'm willing to bet theres a "better" version of the scales.. like the intact stonemite parts, and the succulent meat..

When I tell her "What materials?" she says I'm not holding an item. Anyone have any luck figuring out what you're supposed to have in your inventory?

"While I can work with a variety of materials, my forte lies in weaving the scales from cragbeasts into decorative attire."

Could be wrong, but that's my guess. :)
