I have turned in two runner packs and gotten nothing. I have not played the game in 6 years, but used to run this quest all the time. My faction is dubious, which never effected it before, and I even tried the last time turning it in while invis (which I used to do before I was dubious). I no longer get the pattern from Rallic. Is this quest now nerfed/broken, etc?

Warning: If you turn in a LORE container and already have the LORE token in your inventory, you will not receive a second LORE token and will lose your container. It works in the other direction as well: turn in a LORE token when you already have the LORE container in inventory and you will lose the token.
the pattern is Lore also. check your INV for LORE stuff if that is the issue!

You're the first person to report any issues with it here...
Are you playing on a progression server? Looking back it seems Hollowshade was updated/fixed after Luclin launch so they may have this goofily flagged on a progression server?
If the quest is broken, I would expect a pile of posts about it (especially on official boards) once Phinigel server gets there.

I have been all over Hollowshade moor and have not seen one owlbear on track. I checked the caves, one in the northwest, the other in the east and both had Grimling spawns in them. In Paludal caverns, the only owlbear I can find is Yelloweyes on a 10 minute respawn timer.
Eq Atlas lists the north west cave as the owbear cave, but, again it only contains grimlings.

I farm them regularily as they make $ for me. The hardest part is the perfect pelt for sure. Not sure which bear drops them the most - just slay away until u luvcky. I sellem for 1k.
You need 4 components to get this pack made, and all can be done by a 34 or higher level, even lower in level if your twinked.
1) Get to Shadeweavers thicket, farm lesser shades (Lvl 5-8) and xakra worms until you have at least 8 shadeling silk.
2) Make shade silk thread by combining 2 shadeling silks in a sewing kit - make 4 threads.
3) Make a shade silk cord, by combining 3 shade silk threads.
4) Aquire 1 Perfect Owlbear Pelt - From personal experience, I believe they are ultra rare drops(1 in 250?) in Paludal Caverns, Rare (1 in 25-35 approx) in Hollowshade Moor and Grimling Forest.
Im my experience, the pelts seemed more common as drops off Owlbear Cubs, followed closely by Owlbear Grapplers in HollowShade Moor.

5) Go from Hollowshade Moor into Grimling Forest and follow the road near the fort - Invisibility makes this run far much safer. When you zone into Tenebrous Mountains, there are two rocks - if your on the second rock, the Grimling Runner will spawn in front of you (if not currently up) or 90 minutes after his last death. He drops a Runners Pouch (Lore, No Drop) everytime. This is taken to Katta Catellum. When you exit the zone into Katta from Tenebrous, ahead and to the right is a big hedge, which encloses a very large building. Go straight ahead roughly halfway along the hedge, Move through the opening towards the building. There are a huge set of doors here. Head to the outside edge of a door to click to open. On the ground floor take first left into a hallway. Halfway down take another left, then left again to the door. Inside is Rallic Aristos. Just give him the Runners Pouch. You now have a Rallic Pack Pattern (Lore).
6) In a sewing kit or loom, combine Shade silk thread, Shade silk cord, Perfect Owlbear pelt, and the Rallic Pack pattern. This combine is No Fail - it ALWAYS combines into a Rallic Pack.
I do hope this helps people. If you compare this to my old post and see ommissions or changes, it's because some things have been changed in game that I've recently noticed helping a guildmate get himself this pack very recently.

I purchased a Rallic Pack for 700 PP on Drinal,

Any class, any skill can make them if they have the items needed - Last I know of it is a no fail combine.
I tried with a lv1 no skill rogue, made 5 of them and got to skill 4 in taylor.
Pity it i a lore item, but good that it is, th runner is hard enough to catch when there is no compatition. lol

I got lucky on this one, was passing through the PoK on Xegony and some guy was asking 800pp for this. I sent him a tell saying I'd give him 560 if he couldn't unload it. 15min later I got a tell from him saying he'd take the 560. The patterns, although lore are also stackable. You read correctly. Im sure this will be corrected.

Only the NPC's in the villages were present. I do not know what this means, if it had anything to do with me having 1 pattern in possesion or if it was just a flouk and my timing was bad. I have not had possesion of two patterns at once but they do show they stack just like food or skins.

Odds on that someone killed it at a time before you got there. Although they spawn 90 or so minutes after death, death can come from 1 - 30 minutes after spawn (I think it will despawn if no one takes it out first) so respawn time can be from 90 - 120 minutes after previous spawn.

Please note I said I have not possesed more than one pattern at a time. I believe, since they are marked lore and show they can stack, they do not stack. Assume that the LORE over-rides the 'stackability' of the item if it shows to posses both. It is better to be safe than sorry and we all know what happens when we assume.

no whenever u put an item in a bag, box etc... that container becomes no drop so u dont loose an important item thats in the bag (just a safety percaution)

I've seen it always selling for 700pp
I'm on Zeb and I've been spending a lot of time in TM farming acrylia and I've been killing the runner a bunch. But I'm having a hard time selling the packs. I can sit around /auction WTS rallic for 800pp and get no responces. Then drop it down to 500 and I can't kill the runner fast enough. But every time I'm in the baz I always see the rallic going for 800 plus. Maybe I'm impatient and just want to sell the damn things. But whats the going price on other servers right now?
P.S. you can avoid being KSed by others if you plant your butt in the cave at the TM/GF zone line. From the cave opening if you sit down at the first bend in the cave you'll never miss him as he'll spawn right on top of you. Just remember its a 90 minute spawn and if you get up and leave your going to loose it.

Yeah be patient guy, you can get 800 for them easy. I still see them going for 1k if your in bazaar at a peek time. But if your dead set on selling them for 500 send me a tell, ill be happy to buy them off you, so would all that can afford within my guild. Be patient, but sell to me cheap. =)

my war made the pack with a tailoring of 7. not bad for a meatshield i'd say =)
Verified recently - assuming you have all items needed, to need a tayloring of 0 or higher, or to put it another way its a no fail combine.
Tried it wih a brand new, created moments before charater who hadent even killed once - and now owns a Rallic Pack (amd not much else)
The items of course were farmed / brought / created by other charaters

Bought the Rallic pack pattern in the bazaar for 100pp and the perfect owlbear pelt for 20pp. Put it all together with a tailor skill of 40. 120pp for a Rallic pack works for me.
Well, spent all day camping the Runner. Got KS'ed twice, and told that I couldn't have two before I'd even had one, leading to a 3rd KS.

Now that I'm 52, KS'ing is less of a problem. In fact, some of the people tho used to KS me now congratulate me when I make the kill. Odd. It's hardly worth camping to sell any more, so I rarely go out now anyway. *Sigh* Back to Tradeskills for Shawl I guess.

Anyone know where I can obtain info on different bags on EQ was lookin to upgrade my bags, got rallic pack, evil eye bag and herbalist pack rest of them are tailored 10 slot 10% weight reduction.

Support your local halfling tailor. Order up a batch of Leatherfoot haversacks. They are 10 slot 100% wt reduction, and the weight is lower than the merchant sold ones in SolA
I am looking for weight reduction bags. where can I get them at my measly lvl of 10. If anyone is selling any on Kane Bayle let me know I am interested and I have a full pouch of pp.

There are several 25% packs and pouches that are dropped, like the archeologist, herbalist, and travelers packs

There is the soiled bag in Sol B that is 10 slot 100 % weight reduction (small), Naggy/Vox bags which are 10 slot 100% WR (giant) (.6 weight) and of course the Tinker's Bag 10 slot 100% WR (1 weight) (giant) 5k in Sol Ro
other than for the shade silk things, does one need to have any skill in tailoring to succesfully make the pack? thanks in advance )

Nope...I am nearly a complete waste as far as Tailoring goes and I've made 3 of these now. The silks and components related to the silks is the only thing that needs any skill at Tailoring and those are so low that even i can do them!

i just did my quest too before i started my skill was at 21 (random spider silks, bandages) and after 2 trys on the cord it poped up to 22 next try and i got the cord and the Rallic Pack. It wasn't that hard to do but lots of those little worms died. And a little FYI the worms have between 25 and 35 hitpoints so quick kills and lots of running to find another one.

I am an Erudite SK of the 47th level on CT. I completed this quest with the help of my trusty squire a Ranger of the 38th level. We slayed the poor owlbear cubs in PC until I was sick (12hours) no perfect pelt. Then I logged back on 8hours later and the second round of slayings yielded the perfect pelt. I kinda think that pulling all four cubs at once did the trick but I am not sure. My squire then took over 3hours later and on his 2 or 3 round of slaying yielded a perfect pelt. And yes he was pulling more than one at a time too. But I can't assure you how to get this pelt to drop. We tried Hollowshade first, but alast whatever gets the bears did not occur for us. In any light this is just a friendly warning to the Elite Erudite Shadow Knight to have some else turn in the no drop pouch (plans) and then get your pattern to make the Rallic Pouch. All in all I think the hardest part of the quest was getting the pelt. Oh yeah and the runner is like clock work .... 90 minutes to a tee.

If she is hailed from behind she will turn around so there you go -- Iksar Monks may actually be able to self complete the quest with some help -- otherwise just have a friend around to loot the runner pack and then have them bring back the pattern.

ok I'm an iksar monk on nameless, and as such I'm KOS in katta, well my think head is determined to complete this quest, I have the runner's pouch in my inv now. I went to rralic, f'ded, took off invis, put on sneak, took off FD and his wife (who was facing me from across the room ) agroed on me, and obviously he assisted.
What I'm wondering is if there is any way that anyone can think of to make her turn around, so she doesn't see me while sneaking, and I can complete the quest.

Try getting someone to hail her from other direction and see if she turns to face them. Some NPCs will, some wont. Worth a try though.
