Pet Levels to Proc

Just to save time, I gathered a list of classes and levels that have pets that can proc this sword. I'm not promising 100% accuracy, but it's what I found.

Beastlord Level 54 (Level 41 Pet) **forums.beastlords.org**
Magician Level 49 (Level 41 Pet) **eq1.eqsummoners.com**
Necromancer Level 48 (Level 41 Pet) **Posting from Allakhazam**
Shadowknight Level 64 (Level 41 Pet) **Same spell as the Necro**
Shaman Level 61 (Level 58 Pet) **Posting from Allakhazam**

Enchanter pet: I couldn't lock down a specific pet that bordered the Level 40 proc mark. However a post about the level 62 pet spell claimed that it summoned a level 58 pet. I'd presume you'd be safe with one pet lower (the level 55 pet). Not a lot of info about enchanter pets is available, unfortunately.

Note: Previous Shaman pet was level 39, just under the legal limit!

It is not normally sold by that merchant. You must turn in a Ethereal Parchment to have a shot at getting this spell.
Just more fodder...

Just to clear up a couple of things posted here. I have a 58 shaman, using the level 55 spell to summon my doggie. The mutt CAN'T proc this sword due to the fact that he is too low level. The pic for this item in game says the proc goes off at 40, meaning my mutt is lower than 40...and I just thought he sucked. Nevertheless, for any needy shaman out there, I just gave him a pair of Hands tonight and he proc'd them just fine. The ingame pic on Hands says the proc fires at level 10. Good luck to ya'll and happy hunting.

51 Shaman here, done some testing with the pet in regards to weapons and procs.

Shaman pets can dual-wield, but only do seem to do so once you've given them two weapons.

They can wield every weapon I've given them, from Gnoll-Hide Lariets (Bah spelling) to Velium weapons. It could proc them all, because he's around High 30's to low 40's roughly.

Shaman pet damage is NOT adjusted by weapon. In the case of my pet his cap is 51 damage, and no weapon I've given him has ever changed it. It might be possible that he does have the damage adjustment but due to a damage cap can't hit any harder. It seemed weapon delay did effect him, but I haven't really tested it much.

I have given him a 2hs and some other fine steel weapon, he dual wielded both. It may be a glitch or maybe all pets that can dual-wield can use 2handers and still dual wield. My mage is only level ten so I haven't been able to fully test this.

So basically, even nabbing a couple rusty weapons will turn Puppy into a lean, green-killing machine. My pup even does fairly well against Ice Giants, just drop a haste on him and he goes to town faster then my dot!

I don't have the resources (High-Level Mage ;)) to test it more, but thats just what I've seen with my own pet. I'm very curious about them being able to wear armor, I've given them tidbits I didn't care to really loot, but could tell if it worked or not.
Procs...

proc lvl

doesnt proc for my shaman lvl 49 pet either. I heard a convoker tell me the proc level was level 50, we'll have to see after I try the 55 pet.
RE: proc lvl

Are you talking about a pet that's level 49, or the pet spell you got at level 49? The proc rate is based on the level of the wielder, so if you're level 49... hell if you're level 60 it won't matter if you pet is only level 40, and sad to say shaman pets are some of the lowest level pets out there compared to the level of the caster; if I remember correctly the caster level/ pet level (from caster level 49+ ) is as follows:

49/ 34
55/ 37
61/ 42

If I'm wrong, please correct this in reply, but I'm pretty sure this is it. Therefore, the shaman pet shouldn't get a proc out of any weapon with a proc level higher than 43, regardless of level. The "warder" series of pets is essentially meant to protect, or "ward" the shaman and not tank for him.

You are wrong.

49 pet for shaman is lv 36
55 pet is lv 39
lv 61 pet is 58

Bsty pets can wield 1hs weapons and proc. I tested it with my Warder when I got my 49th lvl Warder spell. Used some Velium weapons and they proced. Was fun. =)

I'm pretty sure this is because the animal models (like the beastlord pets, shaman pets, and druid pets) cannot equip bladed items, but they can use hand-to-hand items. Try getting a Fist of Ixiblat (mage 62). That may work for ya.

All pets can equip bladed weapons. I have a 58 shaman and every pet wolf I've ever had I could see the damage from his hits being listed as sword damage when I gave him swords. Without the weapons, it reads as bites.

ALSO the pets at lvl 55 is lvl 48 (below 50). Even if pet CAN equip it. To find out if pet can equip ask a chanter to turn pet into a scarecrow for the graphics of the weaps. Fist of Ixiblat will proc because proc lvl is either 25 or 30 i believe.
What level to proc?

I gave this to my animation (Kintaz, level 49), and it said his will was not sufficient to command the weapon. What level do the pets have to be for this to work?

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 24 2003 at 4:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a good item to give to newbies since it has the magic damage which will help the pet to hit more max damages, and the 50hp will make it last longer. all pets that can use weapons will benefit from it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 07 2003 at 9:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) can anyone post a pic of th stats on this sword also if they know what damage the proc is it would be helpfull.

Well since I can summon this I'll tell you the stats...don't know what the SK was thinking...
Blade of Walnan is 1HS attack delay 20, dmg 10, magic dmg 3, hp +50 with combat effect:Wrath of Wind which says "(target) is slashed by flying debris."
There is no level restriction and the blade is pet only.
