A downside to this spell that I have noticed is that it will not proc Cyromancy or Pyromancy from the ice and fire spells.

Both Cyromancy and Pyromancy procs with this spell now.
In my option, this one is prolly one of the best spells to use in raid encounter.
Low mana cost, high effectively and hard to resist, in some cases its even better than lure nukes.

Is Wildmagic really a 30 second casting time
# May 06 2007 at 8:41 PM Rating: Default
Lucy's lists the casting times of Claw of Selay II and Chaos Immolation II as 5 seconds and 3 seconds respectively. The mana useage of these is 251 and 316 respectively. The ratios are decent at roughly 7:1 and between 4:1 and 8:1 respectively. So 70% of the time it casts relatively quick, decent damage ratio spells.

Yet, if the spell procs Pure Wildmagic, Lucy's lists a 30 second casting time (though mana use is only 50!). While approximately 60:1 is one incredible dmg ratio, the casting time seems pretty restrictive. Can someone who has this tell me if this 30 second casting time is correct when it is the Pure Wildmagic that pops (the 30% chance)? Can someone also tell me if it's damage ratio is as incredible as it appears it might be with both Pyromancy and the fire familiar in use (and does this make up for the casting time in your experience)?

the set of spells it randomly chooses Does not affect the casting time or mana cost of wildmagic strike. the casting time of this spell is always 3 seconds.. mana cost is
always 284 (for rk 2 at least)

when you are done casting wildmagic strike after the 3 sec cast time, is when the mob will be hit with the 1 of 3 spells (instantly!) . As for focus effets.. they will reflect the instant casted (the random) portion of the nuke... so it uses cold magic and fire.

so no, there is no "50" mana nuke. : (

this spell is actually a combination of 3 spells sort of. When you cast wildmagic strike it has the chance to cast 1 out of 3 spells: choas immolation, claw of selay, or pure wildmagic.
it usually casts claw of selay or chaos immolation, and if youre lucky it casts pure wildmagic (note that these 3 spells are not treated as seperate spells. after the 3 sec cast time of weildmagic strike, it randomly choose 1 of these 3 nukes to hit the mob, Instantly).

chaos immolation rk. II 1.7 - 2.2 http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=11832&source=Live
by the claw of selay rk. II 1.9k ish http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=10848&source=Live
pure wildmagic 3k http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=11843&source=Live

the spells aren't extremely powerful, but the spell has a fast casting time so that makes up for the low damage.
definately a kiting spell. i would not use it on raids or in a group, but it's pretty mana efficient if you wanna try to conserve mana when soloing.

and yes resists were rare. it's cast time is 3 seconds so that's just long enough to still be affected by spell haste items/tribute, which is nice.
soloing efreeti lords in atiiki, (the blue ones with more hp) i finish with about 50% mana (10k mana pool).

As for the resists, you don't know what your talking about. This spell is awesome and I have rarely seen it resisted. Your "puremagic" comment cannot be farther from the truth. Magic is 30% of the time, fire and cold is both 35%.
Nothing to write home about....

In use this spell has 2 definate drawbacks:

- resists.
- does NOT proc GoRM.

This is *NOT* a (-50 resist check) Chaos Flame upgrade (see: Chaos Immolation for that). The resist is listed as Prismatic which is to say it takes the MOB's average of all its resists then does the check - with NO average adjustment.

Apparently when the spell makes a "puremagic" strike it is almost lure-like, but this is only 10% of the time (according to something I read somewhere). Depending on whether it strikes for fire, cold or magic your appropriate focus will come into play.

It does have the potential per cast of amazing ratios, but depending on where you use it this is all but cancelled out by the number of times it gets resisted.

The fact that it doesn't proc GoRM is a shocker - read the AA description.

Dunno what to do with this spell.. was hoping to retire Chaos Flame, but now I'll be awaiting Chaos Immolation which is L74.

<edit> Have Chaos Immolation now and yes, Chaos Flame is retired.

150 pts of Orux currency sold at caster vender need to be indifferent to get options for purchase. This is a level 71 spell. Another mana efficient nuke.
