You say, 'Hail, Haldorak Foamymugs'

Haldorak Foamymugs says 'Hail dere me friend. I be Haldorak Foamymugs High Priest of Clerics dat heed the call of Brell. I am a very busy Dwarf for I have many new house recruits to train. Ye see I am in charge of all the young ones that pass through our halls. They must all undergo and pass me [tests] before they are truly ready to travel the dangerous world of Norrath.'

You say, 'What tests?'

Haldorak Foamymugs says 'Well ye see Schmendreck, we cant just send anyone out
into dis world to spread Brells word and not make sure dey are properly trained in the ways of battle. Dis is why I have created some exercises for our young ones so that dey may be able to do which will in the end enable them to make a full set of their own armor. If`n ye are a [young cleric of Brell]
well den these special exercise will surely be right for ye! Aye.'

You say, 'I am a young cleric of Brell.'

Haldorak Foamymugs says 'Well den lets not waste anytime and lets get you started! Here is yer Assembly Kit of Brell. In this kit ye will be collected many different items from both da Mountains of Butcherblock as well is in our great minin city o Kaladim! You will then place certain items in yer kit to create armor materials that you will then combine in a forge with an armor mold to make yer armor piece. If`n yer ready to begin craftin yer armor then I will be glad to present you with da [material recipes]!'

You say, 'What material recipes?'

Haldorak Foamymugs says 'Now yer talking Schmendreck, I be glad to see yer ready to begin crafting yer honor and heed yer calling as a servant o Brell! I have the armor material recipes and molds for Brells Blessed Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets], and [Breastplates]. All ye must do is simply tell me what armor piece ye [want] to craft and I will gladly present ye with the material recipe and armor mold necessary fer craftin it.'

You say, 'I want to craft breastplates.'

Haldorak Foamymugs says 'To create yer breastplate material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Glynns Tongue, 1 Dwarven Bandit Coinpurse, 1 Pristine Forest Drakeling Scale, 1 Undead Pawn Tibia and 1 Golden Bandit Tooth in yer assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion yer very own Brells Blessed Breastplate. Please come back to see me after ye has completed yer final armor piece? I need a lil [help] with something that only a proven disciple of Brell can complete.'

Pristine Forest Drakeling Scales...sold in Felwithe. I bought 3 from first vender I found and saw many more on otehr venders.

Crude Bronze...I went to Steamfont and the second vender I checked had 12 on him. I got enough to make all my newb armor pieces.

Newbie Armor cheatsheet:
Hail Haldorak Foamymugs to start quest (N. Kaladim Clerics guild) and repeat: 'What tests?', 'I am a young cleric of Brell.', 'What material recipes?'
Then say: 'I want to craft _______.' Enter what you need on line without brackets [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] or [Breastplates].
This will get you the material recipe and armor mold. Combine the items he mentions in the assembly kit to make the material and then combine material with mold in a forge.

Yeah, everyone is hunting the poor drakes to extinction. I hunted them all friggin day and finally got a pristine to drop.

I've seen em sell in the OOC channel in gfay for 10plat, and conmen ripping off newbies by selling them for up to 100plat in the bazaar!

I wish ppl would just adopt a helpful attitude instead of trying to rip ppl off. If you happen to find one, and you know it's rare, find someone to sell it to for a reasonable price. Don't put it in the bazaar for 100plat. That's just wrong.

I've gotten 3 pristine drakeling scales in a row by the following procedure. Seems it really matters how you kill it. If you use melee attacks at all, you will ruin the scales. I used a combination of root and multiple Furor DD spells to kill them. Out of 5 draklings I killed this way, I got 3 pristine scales. On the two that I got ruined scales from, I ended up bashing them a time or two with my mace. No firm proof here, but it makes sense.

Clerics dont cast, look at that uber strength!!!!

NO DROP - is better think about it

people seem happy the items are DROPPABLE that could actually make the situation WORSE...

because then you will have high level alts and twinks giving the needed items to the character or worse... SELLING them, farming them ALL, and new characters will never see them. ESPECIALLY if the final product is a NO DROP - LORE... then it gets REALLY petty with farming the components. I would RATHER see them all no drop. I would say Make just these items TRIVIAL LOOT, but you know... my lvl 26 dwarf cleric could fill a few armor slots with some of this stuff.

they are trying to make the RACES with differences, but ALL equal in appeal. (so im still stumped why Troll shaman quests, both OLD and NEW got the shaft so far *and* they are not very common at all it seems) thats why, besides we all know DWARF CLERICS - ROCK !!!

In reality I understand a High elf cleric is about as good as you can get, *BUT* if they are gonna gear a dwarf to fight, let us have a TOUCH more melee in later game. Im not saying make me a paladin... but whats the point in being stout if I cant even use a weapon past 20 with any real potency?

And I dont know how much this helps *BUT* as far as the drake. there is a drake that spawns (or always seems to be there) - run down and dont go left or right, just straight off the road... if you come down from Kaladim and just run to that pillar and to the right some. Also fromt here to the goblin huts seems to be drakes. Its at least one more right? I grew up there ;)

If they gave more wis to the dwarves, what would be the point of playing a high elf, if you could get the higher sta & str of the dwarf plus a high wis. If you want all the races to be the same, go find a game that's built that way. This is great newb armor and looks cool, too. So what if some uppity high elf's armor has more wis than yours?!

Scales
# Aug 01 2002 at 8:48 PM Rating: Default
As far as I've heard, the pristine scales are now no drop, so of course it's going to be much harder to find them now. You probably won't even have a chance at them until level 20, and even then, you'll wind up with much better armor. These quests **** me off extensively...

edit: I've been corrected... this was just a bunch of idiots pulling my chain. I happened to get lucky with my cleric, the second of my characters that needed the scale, and got the scale off the first drakeling I killed... it wasn't no drop.

Pristine Scales are now found on Forest Draklings in Greater Faydark they are easy to fine, but pristine scales almost never drop.

Wherer do i find the Undead Pawn Tibia
RE: hi
# Jul 29 2002 at 8:55 AM Rating: Default
judging from the name i would guess it comes from the undead pawns on the chessboard in butcherblock mountains. as you head from kaladim to gfay turn left at two houses and at the end of the valley on the left side is the chessboard and there are undead pawns that spawn there so i would guess it would come from there.
RE: hi

The chessboard is difinitely where they come from. I have nearly a half stack of them from fighting for half an hour with a couple friends. They seem to be relatively common.
tooth and scales
# Jul 27 2002 at 11:10 AM Rating: Decent
I got the Printine scales from the drakes in Gfay, actually 3 dropped for me, so there not as bad as the Ash Drakling fiasco in Nek. the tooth dropped off of the Bandits in gfay. Actually cleared the camp twice and got the tooth each time. Hope this helps, all i need is the coinpurse and i got the set, really easy armor, this is a great newbie quest, even though the armor doesnt add much wis - oh well cant have everything.
Which Bandit?
# Jul 27 2002 at 1:52 AM Rating: Default
Is the Golden Bandit tooth you need to complete this quest found on any one particular bandit or is it a randrom drop off of any of the bandits in the two bandit camps? I found the coinpurse on Qued as he ran by peg Leg's camp but haven't been able to find the tooth.
RE: Which Bandit?
# Jul 27 2002 at 5:05 AM Rating: Default
I got the tooth from Peg Leg himself. Got the coin purse from Stump Rundl in Peg Leg's camp. Problem I'm having is the Pristine Forest Drakeling scale. Nobody I've talked to has seen or heard of a Forest Drakeling which would be the obvious MOB for this. I've been killing Emerald Drakes when I see them just in case. Neither Drake name is listed in the Beastiary for Butcherblock so I can't even check the loot tables. Grr...
RE: Which Bandit?
# Jul 27 2002 at 5:30 PM Rating: Default
BTW Forest Drakelings r new additions to the Gfay newbie zone outside of Kelethin. The scales r VERY rare drops though, so the best way to get one is to offer plat to a newb. You can also try going to the merchants where they would sell them to if they didn't know they were for a quest. Don't know how much merchants sell em for yet though, haven't been lucky enough to find one there yet. (Good merchants to look for include Kwien, Nildar, Lynolien, and the chick standing next to the newb lift. Forgot her name)
Here we go again
