You say, 'Hail, Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Who dares to address me while I am clearly busy reviewing my daily research. I sure hope this is important Branaddar, I do not have time to waste on just any initate of House Spurned. Not a single day goes by that I do not come face to face with cannon fodder that is not even worthy of a headstone in our burial grounds. If you wish to [prove yourself] then I might be in a generous mood. '

You say, 'I wish to prove myself'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'I must admit this is not the first time I have heard someone say that nor will it be the last, however I am wiling to give you a chance. First thing we will need to do is get some clothes in your back if you wish to survive for any amount of time. If you are a young Wizard, Enchanter or Magician of House Spurned then I will present you with a [mystical sewing kit]. '

You say, 'what mystical sewing kit?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'The Mystical Sewing kit that I have created is one that is able to fashion a material used for crafting clothes worn by all Initates of House Spurned. All that is required are Cloaks worn by Lightwalkers that plague our Forest to this very day. If you are to take my task and seek vegenence on this inferior group of Arcane lightwalkers you will pride your house along with gathering one of the [key ingredients] for your armor. I have heard rumor that they have tried to generate some kind of magic from a source shrouded by our forest. '

You say, 'what key ingredients?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'You will be given different combination recipes for whichever armor piece you wish to craft. You will combine the specific items in the Mystical Sewing Kit that I will give to you when you are ready. After you have combined the correct items in your sewing kit you will fashion together a Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned. At that time you will put the pattern that I will give you for each armor piece you request in the loom along with this cloth to craft your Armor piece. I will also suggest that you craft your Breastplate last due to the difficulty of obtaining the items. Do you [understand] the instructions I have given you? '

You say, 'I understand'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Very well Branaddar, here is your Mystical sewing kit. I have the patterns and recipes necessary to craft Spurned Initiate [Skullcaps], [Bracers], [Sandals], [Sleeves], [Trousers], [Gloves} and [Robes]. When you feel you are ready to gather the items necessary to craft your armor simply tell me which piece you want to craft. The items that you will need to collect will mostly be found in the Forest but some will be here in town. As I said before seek out the Arcane Lightwalkers to collect the cloaks that you will need to make the armor materials. I look forward to seeing what you will make of this opportunity. '

You say, 'I want to craft the Spurned Initiate Robe'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'It brings me great pleasure to see that your training has come this far Branaddar, for your House Spurned Ceremonial Gown you will need to collect 5 Blood Drenched Cloaks, 2 Basilisk Eye Stalks, 1 Embalming Dust, 2 Large Snake Skins. Combine these all in your Mystical Sewing Kit to create a Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned that is used for creating your Robe. Take this Glove pattern that I have given you and place it in the closest loom along with your Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned to craft a Robe of the Spurned Initiate. Please return to me should you succeed in this task, I have one [final test] for you in mind. '

Inky Chanter
# Nov 15 2002 at 10:21 AM Rating: Excellent
So far I have gotten most of the items needed. The pet you get at lvl 4 helped out ALOT in aquiring most of the items. Plus I have not been negligent in obtaining my defense skill. Even as a chanter I can meelee the lvl 5 stuff without the pet. I am not a twink, and have had to be selective of my spells as I cannot afford them all YET! I have only been playing a chanter for four hours, but still have attained lvl 4 rather quickly.

Nice Red Robe

I find this robe very nice in color, especially after having worn that silly bright pink one forever. Here is a picture of how the robe looks on a female dark elf. . . quite nice indeed.

I really just want to complete this quest so that my level 7 wizard won't have to wear the fruity pink robe he started with. Does anyone know what color the robe shows up as on a darky wizzy?
Basilisks
# May 12 2002 at 6:14 AM Rating: Good
Try the lava basilisks in lavastorm, killed 2 and both dropped the eye stalks.
Basilisks are VERY rare
# Apr 24 2002 at 12:42 PM Rating: Default
I've seen 2 of these since I learned of the quests and tried them with my enchanter. One was killed by a the guard at the lavastorm zone.

I have to admit I was happy when I saw a goody kill that stupid guard!

basilisks wander fairly frequently around "Ultricle" (the rocky area near the lavastorm zone boundary)
Lightwalkers
# Apr 24 2002 at 7:11 AM Rating: Decent
If you are looking for the Lightwalkers, you have to go to the wizard spires to get them. The Lightwalkers are the high elves that cast there. At level five, they were kind of hard as most of them conned red to me. I had to have some help from my big brother who is a necro.

They have two faction hits with them and increase your faction with the Dead who are the necros in the guild in Neriak.

I haven't tried yet to make these items but I am going to try.

To find the wizard spires, you have to head left from the tunnel to Neriak as you exit. You'll run into them. Trust me, they found me real easy.

Best of luck!

Actually, they have 4 faction hits. +Dead, -Faydark Champions, -Threx, -<someone else>. Basically, GFay hates me even more, but my agnostic enchanter is amiable with the necro's now.

On the bright side, I think it's impossible to fail on the tailoring aspect of this quest, so there's no frustration of getting the cloaks then failing on the combines. Very nice low level gear and aside from the cloaks, most of the ingredients can be found on vendors as non-casters often sell them off.
Were do you.....

Faction hit?

Does anyone know what the faction hit for killing the "Arcane Lightwalkers" is?

What race are they?

down with everything good in gfay, and up with "the dead"
Beating the snakes
# Mar 25 2002 at 1:01 PM Rating: Default
A safer large snake to go for is the "Tree Snake". Their poison doesnt seem quite so venomous. I found I could usually kill one even if it did poison me and leave me battered.

Then just return to newbie log and keep bandaging yourself until the poison wears off. (Unless you have healing spells/potions, but as a wizard I had none)

I agree, but I killed the rattlesnakes in East Commons instead. It just seemed that they droped the skins a lot more often. But then again, it is all according to the individuals luck in the game. 8)
items wont combine
# Mar 24 2002 at 8:22 PM Rating: Decent
i gathered all the ingrediants necesery for making the robe, but they wont combine in the sewing kit, i took the pattern out and everything, and i am sure i have everything:5 blood drenched cloaks, 2 basilisk eye stalks, 2 large snake skins, and 1 embaling(or however you spell it) dust. do i need to learn tailoring for this or what?

You have to combine the quest items -- minus the pattern -- in the Mystical Sewing Kit you recieve from Morgalanth at the beginning of the quest. Combining the items in this container results in a Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned which you must then combine with the pattern in a regular sewing kit or loom.

As far as I know, no tailoring skill is required (I have not heard of anyone failing on a combine).

Also, as with all combines, be sure nothing is stacked. The pieces for the robe use all 10 slots of the kit. I believe it's impossible to fail on the tailoring combine and I'm told it trivials at 17. Seems a lot like spider silk.

Was in a patch or some ago, you cant fail anymore on quest combines so no worries

Last Piece Almost Done
# Mar 23 2002 at 4:32 AM Rating: Default
The robe is the last piece I need. This is definately not my only character but, so far my 10th level mage is completely self sufficient. I only grouped him with a chanter once but, the Blood Drenched Cloaks were being distributed fairly, but was taking too long. when he logged, I collected them all rather quickly. I had a problem with the ash drake scale and ended up buying it off of someone. The only item I need now is an Embalming Dust.

I started these at level 6 because my pets were being summoned a level higher than me. Killing the calcified skellys and bears near the obolisk bought all my spells for me. So when I hit 8, that new earth elemental pet was a destroyer and I zoomed to 10.

Save your bone chips and kill bears, eventually HQ pelts will drop. Run your chips to EC if you haven't already sold them through /auc and sell any HQ pelts you collected. The only spells I'm lacking now is the Luclin spells, time for a trip to the moon. :)

anyone know the cordinates of the guy npc who runs this quest?
RE: cordinates?
# Mar 23 2002 at 4:19 AM Rating: Decent
The guy that starts the quest is in the Mage/Chanter/Wizzy guild hall in Neriak Commons. When you enter, you can't miss him, dressed in red and straight in from the portculis.

Large snake skins (as mentioned before) drop off tree snakes. Mummies are semi-rare spawns at the pyramid, monolith, and the undead spawn near Lavastorm zone. There's your embalming dust. Basilisk eye stalks are rare drops off the basilisk hatchlings that spawn in the area around the Lavastorm zone tunnel. They're also known to wander around the newbie log.

Yea, and the Enbalming dust is sometimes sold at the gypsy camp in The Oasis. But, only an Enchanter can shop there without a lot of faction work (Illusions...). Even if you are an Enchanter, it would be a looooonnnnnng walk.

This sounds very very hard i wonder if a lvl 5 can really do this?
Starting...
# Mar 21 2002 at 5:42 PM Rating: Decent
A level 5 could START to do these quests. Heck, a level 1 could as well. If you notice, not all the pieces are acquirable at the same level. The Arcane lightwalkers are around level 10 or so. A newbie can begin gathering the parts for these quests at level 1 and complete them around level 15 (assuming no help or twinkage). This is yet another in the series of tiered quests that are all the rage since Kunark (remember Curscale armor? Shackle quests? Vah Shir newbie quests?).

RE: Crazypetss
# Mar 21 2002 at 6:01 AM Rating: Default
Actually a level 5 would be able to do this though it would be abit 'dicey' all around. All the items used for each of these quests can be found in Nek Forest (your told that when you start). Tree snakes for large snake skins shouldn't be to much of a problem and you'll walk away unlike with darkweed snakes. There are now mummies all over Nek forest in the unpopulated area that carry the embalming dust so if your level 5 and you need it just grab a level 15 or so friend and go take it. You'll also run into drowned citizens but I don't believe they carry anything for loot really. But in all truth of the matter if you do the other quests first you will be around 8 or 10 by the time you get to this anyway. Logically thinking that is, start with skullcap at level 5 and you're bound to gain exp from sevearl of the things you take out anyway so yeah I think its safe to assume that by the time you actually get to this part you'll be well on your way and shouldn't have to much of a problem doing it.
RE: Crazypetss
# Mar 20 2002 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
Yah the large snake skins, hm I believe they drop off the asps and darkweed snakes in the commons...pretty tough at level 5. Dicey even at level 8, for a chanter.

Sure I'll get 20 posts saying how easy it was for THEIR level 3 chanter...without mentioning the outrageous gear they were wearing, and the SLN they got from their 50 druid friend who was standing nearby. Then of course a few will say they did it naked, first kill at level 1. :P But me, I died more than once at level 8 killing darkweed snakes solo. If you get poisoned it's over whether or not you kill the snake: lv8 chanter doesn't have enough HP to survive the poison. Of course you can come back and loot :) Still, sounds REAL rough at level 5. Get a group I guess, but that's kinda hard at 5. Then there's the embalming dust...zombies!? not positive about what drops embalming dust, but zombies are harder than the snakes.

RE: Crazypetss
# Mar 21 2002 at 12:59 AM Rating: Default
Mummies(the ones in the deserts: shriveled and crypt types, not the ones by the monoliths in the forest. They may, but I dont remember them dropping it) drop the Embalming thingy, and they are by far HARDER than zombies, lvl 10+ with grp can deal with them. Ohh, yah, the disease yah so that you can no longer heal very well. For a newbie quest, I assume they define 'newbie' as lvl 15 or less, sounds to me a real challenge. However, these quests make the game more enjoyable, and finally, for Dark Elves, a reason to hang around in their dank, dark, and annoying forest. Give my regards to the dead bridge guards I always kill when running to and from Najena. But, alas, I have healthy respect for the ocasional Dragoon (may they rot in hell) that spawns on the bridge, which comes the annoying part, detour thru the silly creek that has fish with BIG teeth. Best Wishes, -Clangdin
