I have been camping here over 200hrs. I have killed 5 Burning Priests and several other named, never seen him. Anyone know where he spawns? I been killing almost all of the reavers and revenants, but have yet to see him. Each one of my alts have the amulet the priest drop, and everyone is filled with the different chalices/grails/girdles. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Random spawn just like the others on the plateau I would think. Only ever seen him once (yesterday) even on track, and I have spent a lot of time in zone. Happened to pop inside the ruins, first spot on the left, but as you probably know any of the revanants and reavers up there can be PH's for a named type mob. Dropped same as below, for Pally bane weapons quests. Popped again, again inside left -- Hmm.
Well, after 3 more pops all in the same spot, and not once in any other, I am willing to conclude, unlike other named up here, this is his spawn/ph spot. Additional notes: about twice as many hp's as a regular rev., doesn't turn when snared at 20% like the others, always drops the gem.

His spawn is working but as you surmised, is way too rare. Therefore I increased by more than an order of magnitude - I doubt you'll have much problems finding him now (presuming you look in the proper place. )
This will go out for the next patch once QA clears it.

dropped him yesterday, dropped gem plus a 1hs 7/24, +3 fire damage sword, think it was called A steel ...something..

Killed this guy last night on Vazaelle. He spawned inside ruins, but not up on stage. He spawned just inside on the right when you first enter the ruins from under the ramp. Only dropped the gem. Camped him for about 5 hours and he spawned. In that time, the burning priest never spawned, so he is not that rare. Hope this helps.

Ashbring <For which this Gem is needed to complete> Is by far, the best melee weapon to use against Valdius<mispelled> to obtain The Loyalist Shield <Quest>. Since Vald can only be hit by weapons with vamp bane damage, this is the best one out there. I have completed this quest along with the Loyalist Shield.
Rundown on combact vs Valdius:
Sword itself hits for 80-120+
Sword procs for 110 vs vamps
IoN stacked on it is an extra 242 proc.
With shammy dex buffs? Procs either on avg of 1 per 3 swings.
After about 20% damage to Vald, a pally pretty much has cinched all questions of 'who's got aggro?'. It's the Ashbringer wielding pally, of course.
Hope that sheds a little better light on how important this sword can be.

Does he spawn on top of the cracked stairs inside the runes ONLY? Or is his spawn point random throughout the ruins?

Don't know if the clown before me got lucky or not, But I have been camping SD for some time and have only seen him ONCE...also dropped Gem of condensed flames. Spawns up top in ruins. Good luck!
I could not agree more. I have gone through the first 19 blue of level 58 soloing here (20 to 25 hours), first time I saw him was today. Way easy for a 58 Mage, no harder than any of the others really.

Its for a Pally Sword Quest in Katta. Hella rare spawn. Forgot the name of sword but not wroth the time to camp this guy. Seen em twice in a month and a half.

Ashbringer, useful against vamps in Luclin because it has Bane dmg. Also has flame dmg and Flame Shock as a proc. It's a a short quest with long spawns, you have to get the Reflective Combine Claymore first before starting the Ashbringer quest which involves sitting in Katta for awhile trying to kill a coterie spawning roughly every 5 hours. Can't wait to go back there =P
