I solo 99% of the time and often end up in a good old fistfight when A) I can’t kite or B)OOM - so such an item is invaluable to me. Recently I have been tanking in Paw due to lack of interested parties (mid lvl tanks in zone) and having a blast w/my group. I carry around my shield/face/head items for just such occasions and switch when I need the AC and not the Wis to melee. Just something to keep in mind - you never know when or where your char is gonna need such an item. Since druids are such whimps it is important that we hit hard and FAST - so we get the MOB b4 it gets us.

Think before you flame - closed or fact ignorant statements only serve to make you the fool.

You are all stupid. You're fighting over something absolutely pointless. And, pointless as it is, it should be fought somewhere other than the FBSS post page.

I have no serious issue with a druid tanking if he wants to, especially on his own. Even if he was in my group, it'd be frustrating but no where near as offending as others say it is. However, my problem is this, There's a hella lot of poor tanks who desperately desire this sash so they can better fulfill their group roles, and I think there is no way at all that'd be fair for a druid to keep one, just so he doesn't have to med to finish a fight after soloing.

Not that anyone reads these posts anymore but...

The original posters point was that the group went into the zone intending on him tanking as they could not find a tank. They made a choice to do so, he not once said that he makes a habbit of trying to tank. This fact alone negates the frigging flames in the first place.

Back then the ZI was what, lvl 35? People say that Rangers cant tank for crap, yet I still tank in BoT when we cant find a tank and we feel like playing anyway. Being in a small guild, we make due with what we have.

I agree with the dude below, play how you play and enjoy the game as you see fit.

Just to add one additional comment: I'm a 46 druid with a Hierophants Crook, which procs an AoE (Earthquake) for 246 dmg. When in a group with a shaman who can buff my dex over 200 I can outdamage anyone in the group -- with my weapon processing 2 to 4 times per fight. Then I can save my mana for heals when necessary. Sure sometimes I have to back off because I get aggro, but it's fun to melee for a change of pace. There's nothing wrong with a druid who wants to melee!

im sorry but... no~ you either dont group with similar levels or somethin is seriously wrong with who you do group with... 2 nukes from a wizzy at 49 or 3 from a 44 wizzy outdamages you~ a necro who stacks ebolt and bond of death will easily outdamage you (add pet to that damage if you wanna be technical). No way you will easily outdamage everybody in a group, unless you are fighting mobs that are green to you or something... heh heh heh... quit tryin to sound like j00 are the ish or somethin~

What?
# Feb 28 2002 at 12:47 PM Rating: Decent
I looked up the FBSS and saw that there is also a FRSS (Flowing Red Silk Sash). They have the same stats from what i can see. So what is the difference? They drop in different areas but is one any better than the other?

Most estimates put the FRSS at about 8% haste.

It was an incredibly easy item to get (dropped one in four off an easy mob on a six min timer).

When it first showed up people went nuts over it and claimed haste on the order or 30-35%. At first they were selling at the same price as the fbss. Some people were even trading the FBSS for this thing. They quickly dropped to 2k.

Personally, when I equipped this thing I could detect no speed difference so my guess is the haste effect is minimal. When I equip the fbss I can detect a speed difference. If this belt had just a bit of AC, maybe the equivalent of banded, it would be a nice item overall. But as it is, the hit you take to ac coupled with only a small increase in damage means you could more or less achieve the same result putting the money into the rest of your equipment.

All in all, I would say this item is realistically worth 500p. It doesn't drop anymore so it will sell for more, but that's what I think its actual value is.

I finally got in a Frenzy group tonight for the first time. It was late, they were desparate, and I just hit level 41 so the invite was accepted.

For the first time ever, all I did was backup heal the tanks (heh, 25% cleric indeed), buff everyone, and root fleeing mobs.

Well, Frenzied ghoul spawns after about 2 hours and we roll on the sash.

The first few rolls are under 50... I roll a 67. Yay, I have a chance of winning a FBSS after winning a froggy crown amd EE bag earlier...

Of course, the next guy rolls a 99! DANG!

Oh, well. I start typing my congrats. Before I finish the sentence, the last guy rolls...

He rolled a 100!

I nearly pissed my pants.

How much did that have to suck for the poor dude that rolled the 99? I would have had a stroke from the crash of elation into despair. Just as well, he was an Iksar scum.

Are you nuts? Never do a random 100 it's been hacked. Demand a roll on on odd number like 505 or something like else unique. You will know who has the hack when they immediately roll for 100 and then whine when you tell them to do some other number. Yes, very sad.

Prove to me that random 100 has been hacked.

You have probably really just been swindled by someone who did a random 99-100 (I forget the syntax), and you didnt read the message that he was picking only number from that range.

I will not list the hacks you can get, but they exist by the score, and aren't that hard to find. The information that this was hacked was given to me by a training guide on particular server. It wasn't me but my wife who was the victim of this as she watch one of her group members roll 3 100's on the best loot for the group. The odds against this are staggering (calculate them yourself).

OOO so your trying to tell all of us that there are cheat codes for EQ then in other words Dabrock ? LOL ok then , well all let u bleive what u wanna bleive !
so u lost 3 times on a roll , tough luck , but i9 really doubt that the randomm 100 has been hacked ! it was prob a ran 99 100 that the guy pulled on u , guess u were to slow to notice .... LOL

There are people that spend their days doing exactly that. Finding ways to cheat on EQ. Usually they are fixed soon after they are discovered. Never say never. I do know that their was a hack to roll 100 everytime you /random 1 100, and it was fixed to the best of my knoledge. It would not suprise me in the least to learn there was another one, and if you think there are no hacks and no one looking for more hacks, well, then I will let you believe what you want to belive. Anyway, just want to re-affirm what Rorroh posted.

Actually it used to be possible to hack /random, when the number was generated on your own pc. It was fixed though, the numbers are now generated on the EQ servers and are mostlikely unhackable.

"Anybody who does just a little research will discover a haste belt that is better than this item and u can get it at level 25 for free basically, if u have a tracker."

I'm assuming that you are talking about the Swiftclaw Sash. If that's the case, you couldn't be more wrong.

1. FBSS is 21% haste. Swiftclaw is 15%. Big difference.

2. In response to getting for "free basically", if time is money, the cost on a Swiftclaw Sash can be quite high. Some people spend days trying to get a Swiftclaw Sash.

Anyone know the real Haste % on this. I have one but never owned a FBSS so can't compare, All I know it goes well with my Lammy and Centi SS and lets me aggro the mobs off the casters in my group in Paw. Combined with a haste spell it's slice and dice time. Would love to get a song stacked on that. But is it as good as FBSS ... I've heard 8 and 16 and 21 .... anyone know for sure?
Damn, what a fine piece of equipment..
# Jan 28 2002 at 9:49 PM Rating: Decent
I've always been a bit suspicious of paying big bucks for the "standard" haste items like this one. Before the release of Luclin, this thing was consistantly going for 4-5K on Saryrn (which is still cheap, I guess). Seeing as how I already had my Frost Giant Hide Belt from the GM events back in EK during Halloween Week, I really couldn't justify shelling out that much for an item just to lose AC and a ton of stats. I figured if I ever needed one, I'd just go grab a camp and get it the ol' fashioned way...

Being one of 3 Warriors in a guild full of Monks, life got a little harder after 30 when I started realizing that I just couldn't hit fast enough to hold aggro anymore. So I started grabbing a camp in LGuk once in a while to see if I could score me one of these puppies, still seeing a 4K investment on an item with no AC and stats as a big no-no for a warrior like myself. After about 15 camps and probably 5-6 horrible rolls when the thing did drop, I'd pretty much given up on all notions of attaining one, and finally broke down and bought a Lammy instead.

So last Sunday afternoon, while watchin' the Pats put a whoopin' on the Steelers and shoppin' around a little in NFP, I see one of these babies going up for sale at around 3K. Wanting to take advantage of the situation, I quickly snatched it up. After doing a little more shopping (which led to me picking up a pair of Cobalt Guants and Boots for around 7K more) I decided to put the ol' frost giant hide back in the bank, grab my trusty Runbladed Sword of Night, my new Centi Longsword, and even the Green Jade Broadsword that I picked up in CoM a few weeks back to compliment my Lammy and see just how fast I could be.

Had I known back at level 30 what I do now at 39, I would've gladly paid 5K for this item back in the day. This thing turned me from a tank struggling to keep aggro and do damage into a lightning-fast Killing Machine! I actually put my 2 faster weapons back in the bank for the time being (the Lammy and GJB) because of how effective I've become with the damage, stat bonus, and procs of the Runebladed Sword of Night (12-26, +3str +3sta 176dd shock of spikes) in my primary slot and the Centi Longsword (14-27, +8str +8sta) in my secondary.
Anyone who plays on Saryrn knows that while the camps for items like this are extremely hard to acquire (this server has to have the greediest high-level players in the game), the steady drop in prices make items that much easier to acquire. The common belief is that the price on Alla divided by half is the price on Saryrn. So any warrior out there who suffers from "excessive monkiness" like I do, this item is a great way to get one-up on your kung-fu brothers after 30 like you had in the old days.

Simply put, it was well worth the price... I probably should've got one 10 levels earlier...

The Real Deal
# Jan 27 2002 at 7:10 PM Rating: Default
Ok, here's the real deal on haste items i.e FRSS, FBSS, SCH etc...
1) It DOES stack with ONE other haste SONG and ONE other haste SPELL but i does NOT stack with another item(2 haste songs dont stack, 2 haste items dont stack, 2 haste spells dont stack)
2)it does NOT increase your delay, it increases the number of times you hit for example, a 20 percent haste item increases the number of times you hit the MoB by 20 percent
3)I Practically Live in Gfay and i know prices, SCH are around 5-6k (on Xev) FBSS for around 3-5k (on Xev)
4)It is NOT a proc or triggeredm it is permanint, meaning, you DO NOT right-click and you DO NOT fight to make it work, you equip the item with haste on it and the haste is automatically incorperated with your fighting (refer to number 2)
5) The Effect does NOT show up where your normal buffs show up, it just doesn't, if you are wearing it, then we asume you are smart enough to figure out that it is automatuically on (refer to number 4)
6)Becuase you are wearing it, you may not be able to tell the difference because (hopefully unless insane) you dont count strokes on which you strike your oponent but there IS a BIG difference

I Hope The REAL DEAL has helped you guys out, i hope this will clear up any misunderstood things and rumors or myths

Oh yah, with all the stuff going on while I'm fighting, I'm always counting how many times I swing my weapon and then divide it by the number of seconds I counted for.... errr....

By the way, he said number of SWINGS, so this increases the number of times you attack and does NOT directly affect delay...

50% haste with a 20 40 weapon does not make it a 20 20 weapon... it's a slightly more complicated formula that can be found on other sites. I'd personally like to see Allakhazam put up a small aside that explained DMG bonus, Haste, and all the other things I see so many idiots arguing over whenever I look up an item.

Contrary to Tullik's "Real Deal" the FBSS works with the delay of your weapon and not increacing your hit probability. For those who can do some simple math: take a test with haste item on and haste item off, count how many swings with your MAIN hand (hit or miss) and then do the math. You will then see that the haste item is so named haste and not attack bonus item.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 27 2002 at 5:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) frss is worth less then fbss. andf one reason is because it's clickable fromwhat i heard! and fbss is perm thats a big difference when in a long battle. the effect wears on somethin thats clickable and with haste effects thatn are clickable they usually never last that long.

I just could never part with that much money on an item that, when asked about, almost everyone with one responded, "yeah..... it's.... okay...".

But nowadays with the introduction of such nice swords as the Longsword of Ethereal Energy and the Centi Longsword, which aren't the speediest of things, but have some nice damage and stats, I figured /shrug it's probably time to get one.

I debated marching to EC and forking over 7k, but decided against it and instead marched to Lower Guk and waited on the camp to open. It did, and about three hours later, I owned the FBSS.

Was sorry to part with a very rugged belt from Skyshrine, lost a pile of AC, a pile of stats, but this belt takes me beyond "yeah.... it's.... okay" into the "hi, i'm a killing machine" category. Coupled with the abovementioned swords, I'll never go back to the hefty belt from SS. My paladin buddy now owns that. So until I luck upon a higher end haste item (fingers crossed for our upcoming PoA raid), I just thought I'd say that I personally think this thing rocks.

I just got one these babies this weekend, and I about cried at how. I was soloing in Lguk for about 2 hours (pali's just rock undead!) occasionally /ooc LFG, I like to play in groups, when the frenzy camp got a slot open. I was invited and I ran me dwarven booty downstairs as fast as I can to join one of the best groups I have come across. Apparently, the group had been camping frenzy for 10 straight hours, kinda burst my bubble on hopesof getting it. Anyways, I wasn't down there for more than and hour when it suddenly drops. We had a monk and another paly in the group, and the shammy, cleric, and enchy were kind enough not to roll on it (Bless their hearts). I didn't feel like I should roll on it ( wasn't there for long) but the group stressed that it would only be fair. So we rolled and I pulled the miracle 94!!! Goes perfect with my Throneblade ykesha (soooo slow). I just want to thank the group for being so so kind.

Haste Stacking
# Dec 06 2001 at 4:29 PM Rating: Good
In response to the questions about the haste stacking: Haste items (ie:fbss, silver chitin handwraps) do not stack with each other. Haste spells/songs do stack with a haste item though. And a monk's haste discipline (100 fists) stacks with all other haste items/spells/songs. I'm not real sure about the different haste spells that will stack (or if any stack at all), I'm usually chain pullin so I don't get a chance to ask my groups if the spells will stack )
