Round Cut Star Rose Quartz (Info/Market)

This is the slot 10 or 11 augmentation that you need for Charisma.

*Warning* Make sure you put it in the right slot if your augmenting trio jewelry. Do your slot 11 aug first to be safe.

Attuneable means you won’t be able to trade the aug once you put it in the item. You can however remove and reuse it when you up-grade to a higher lvl setting for it. The old setting will revert back to tradable form so you can sell or trade that when you’re done using it, but not the aug itself.

To get the full benefit of the aug you must wear the appropriate solo/duo/trio item for your lvl. I’m told that you get the next lvl bonus if you are really close to the rec but I can’t confirm this.

There is a wonderful tool out there for playing with all the different setting and aug combinations. I’d like to give credit to the creator of the “Gnomish Jewelcrafting Gizmonotron” for the basic information on stats here. To it’s creator, my thanks and appreciation. Google the quoted name for the tool and you should get the link. So far in my experience, and the experience of others, the tool has been accurate.

Here’s what you get:

Silver + 1 No lvl Rec
Electrum + 2 No lvl Rec
Gold + 3 Rec lvl 20
Platinum + 4 Rec lvl 35
Vellum + 7 Rec lvl 50
Palladium + 9 Rec lvl 60
Dwerium + 12 Rec lvl 70

It Trivials at 91 which is pretty easy to reach and the jem costs about 9.5 plat so the cost isn’t very high and because some npcs sell these all the time they are easy to get. No farming required.

Warning on Silver:

In my opinion there is no use at all for silver because Electrum has no lvl rec and gives the higher stats even to lvl 1. Unless this changes, Electrum is the twink jewelry.

Now Bazaar Info:

Extended Warning on Silver: The only exception to using these augs in Silver is if you can make it yourself and can’t make or afford something better. If you’re buying a set, keep in mind you pay for the setting and the aug/s that go in it. In most situations there will be better options for low lvl players than silver and usually at a much lower price. Never pay much more than 20plat for silver jewelry, if that. Silver only costs 10 plat and can be enchanted by low lvl players. The stats are better in Electrum even for a lvl 1 player so the value for Silver pieces just isn’t there. There’s no call to charge newbies or anyone else the 1k+ prices for the silver trio that I’ve seen up on Bristlebane.

As for pricing this Aug, it’s a tough call. You can cut this aug at skill lvl 91 which is pretty easy to reach. And the gem only costs a little over 9.5 plat and it is always available from the right venders. So it’s really easy to make, no farming required.

However, as a slot 10 aug it’s one of the more useful ones. There’s good value to this aug in the right situation. Because augs sell so slowly, I’m inclined to charge more for them than their cost/skill-rec/difficulty-to-make would normally require. My reasoning is that a trader offering these augs to players who can’t cut them themselves is forgoing better profits for the slot in order to supply the community with something it needs. Options. Personally at the rate these augs sell at my preference would be to charge around 200 for them. (I’ve had them up from 35 – 220p) In general they sell no quicker at lesser prices, I suspect because you either need an aug or you don’t. And no one in their right mind is going to attempt to buy cheap and resell because these augs only go out 1 – 8 at a time and they don’t sell every day. I’ve sold 1 in the last three weeks at 220p. There are more powerful options for getting a Charisma boost, but even so I’ve noticed with some toons even a +50 coin and two +25 steins isn’t enough to get good prices. And I don’t know about you but I always forget and accidentally eat my lucky cabbages. So there may be some use in combining the right augs to make a set of jewelry for buying/selling/trade-skilling. With charisma for good vender prices, combined maybe with strength for carrying heavy coin from the bank to the shops. They sell as well high in their price range as they do when they’re set low. So there’s no point in discounting for dumping purposes, drop the price too low and you might just as well sell to an npc for the 9.5p and free the slot to sell the other stuff that’s cluttering up your bank, or something that moves quicker and is more profitable.

Time/Stress Factor:

This, combined with the other good slot 10 options, is one of the more relaxing community service items to sell IF you are sharing the market with few other suppliers. If you don’t want to constantly restock, this is a good option because they stack well and go out in a slow trickle. The only fussy thing will be checking to make sure you are matching or beating the best price out there every-so-often. (My preference is matching, because it’s nice to share, and because you also get the added bonus of avoiding market-breaking price wars.) Because these augs are only desired in small quantities and sell slowly, you must at least match the best price though to ever have hope for decent sales. If your competitors are reasonable and don’t mistakenly try to boost their own sales at the expense of everyone else, you should be able to keep these moving with minimal price-checks. If however, competition is thick and prices fluctuate wildly, your sales will suffer if you don’t constantly check to make sure your keeping pace. It really makes no sense to undercut other traders if they are set at a fair price in this case. It is going to take a very long time to sell even a small amount off and that’s plenty of time for the other traders to notice what you’re attempting and turn the tables on you. Before you know it everyone is selling them for next to nothing and your still stuck. It also makes no sense to price them low thinking a re-seller might snatch up your whole lot. Any re-seller in their right mind is going to realize that as soon as they buy your cheap augs you can run out and cut some more and be right back selling them. So no, if you want to sell quick in bulk, just sell them to an npc, it will save you a lot of frustration. The other trouble selling just about any augs is that the supply can easily over take the demand. Whatever you decide, Good Luck.

To Buyers: (if any stuck it out this far) I understand the appeal of really low prices, but in the case of these slot 10 augs think about the possibility of supporting traders who offer the widest variety too. It takes a lot of space to offer all the best options for these augs and the space is more valuable than the stock. If these traders give up on the market then you will find your options for these aug slots are going to be drastically limited. Usually, if the wide-spectrum sellers dropped out of the market the low-ball sellers would only cover a tiny fraction of the good aug options out there.

Price update: (6/29/08)

More traders lately have translated into wider and more frequent price swings. If you keep pace, sales remain pretty consistent, but they drop off steeply if you do not keep pace. The lowest price on any given day now ranges from 20plat to apx. 100, with 50-100 being most typical.
