pally with a 1 hand piercing?
# Jul 03 2001 at 8:06 AM Rating: Default
Hrm This does not make sense....I thought Paladins were not supposed to get 1h piercing weapons.

RE: pally with a 1 hand piercing?

Paladins have had 1 handed piercers as well as 2 handed piercers since Velious came out. Although the 1 handed variety that are paladin usable are not very common, there are a few like the crystal grinder from Crystal Caverns and a Guardian's Dagger from Befallen to name a couple.
Who?
# Jul 03 2001 at 5:18 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know what MOB this drops off of? And what level it procs at? Seems like a pretty good weapon for the level you can get it at.
About time

JUST when I was thinking of switching To a diferent game..

TIRED of the 50+ crowd frming EVERYTHING. I have been trying for WEEKS to get my Paw of Opolla quest started (26 ogre shammy) and what do I find? Nothing but uberdruids and their teinked buddies farming....if verant doesn't start doing more of the nodrop lables and a bit more, then they can kiss MY montly cash good-bye.

I, for one, agree with you, clockwork. Not only that, but I aplaude your choice of questing for something, rather than buying it, and therefore supporting the very farming you are opposed to.

I don't understand how some people can't see that...

I have to say I feel the same way. In fact its my opinion that almost every piece of equipment worth camping should be no drop. Just my 2cp

...thus completely defeating the purpose of having money in the game. If you want to go around looting everything you wear, fine, but you're still going to have to wait in line to get camps. Just be happy that an item as good as the paw of opolla is attainable at 26 at all.
RE: About time
# Jul 05 2001 at 9:33 AM Rating: Decent
Notice that I did say almost all not all hence not defeating the purpose of money. Also, I do not mind waiting in line for a camp that is being held by an experience getting group. It does bother me, however, to see one farmer holding a camp that an entire group could be camping and receiving experience and the loot as was intended.

Hmmm, Lvl 26 Shammy.... Instead of wasting weeks trying to get the Paw, go level a bit, and in a few weeks, you should have the plat to BUY the paw... They are steadily dropping in price. I don't see the point in sitting and trying to camp something for weeks when you can go out and HAVE FUN, and just buy the silly thing later.
RE: About time
# Jul 03 2001 at 9:32 PM Rating: Excellent
The point is that the name is EverQUEST, and that people should be able to have fun in the game whther they are questing for an item or buying it.
two questions...
# Jul 03 2001 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
what level does it proc and what is the level/name of mob that drops it?

tanks in advance

Failkan Blaackhand
Rogue of the 24th Dagger
Sanguine Blade
Bristlebane
RE: two questions...
# Jul 03 2001 at 12:17 PM Rating: Default
the proc is a druid spell... DD... pretty weak. just like 70dmg or so. This probably won't proc till 35 or so tho. Oh and if you are rogue, don't use this. THe ignite spell gives a **** load of agro... it'd take mobs ages to get them off you.
Wrong on the proc
# Jul 03 2001 at 6:39 PM Rating: Decent
your wrong on DD its only 37hp dmg spell fire based. its NOT 70 its a lvl 14 druid spell and lvl 22 ranger spell.
RE: Wrong on the proc
# Jul 04 2001 at 1:12 AM Rating: Decent
level 9 druid spell, not 14
RE: two questions...
# Jul 03 2001 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
Rogues can easily lower hate level by using their evade skill. In fact, Ignite is the same proc thats on the Burning Rapier. When running my rogue the rapier procs as fast as a druid can chain cast his spell. I have tested this in CT with a 52 Druid friend chain casting. = )
another thought
# Jul 03 2001 at 2:06 AM Rating: Default
try doing the ToSR quest by getting the burning rapier and then camp this keeping the burning in primary and putting ruby in off hand if one doesnt proc the other should makes for more dmg along the way when you put a haste item and maybe spell with it thats a whirling rogue of butt sticking go for it stabem in the rear most mobs deserve it
RE: another thought
# Jul 31 2001 at 2:56 PM Rating: Default
hehe you should try playing a rogue sometime RyuOki...

the BR has a damage of 7 and this has a damage of 10, the difference of 3 damage for a piercer can make a huge difference in backstab damage at any level...
Twinks

Heh, i bet you guys dont have twinks. It may ruin the economy, but it sure is fun.

Oh great.

So, now the burning rapier is basically dropping off of critters in Befallen? Compare 7/20 5agil/dex and proc of ignite to 10/30 10SvP 2 dex and proc ignite. The first one is the result of a *very* long and difficult quest (and the only Rogue ToSR quest), requiring time, effort and 550pp or so. The second drops off some random critter in Befallen of all places.

Ah well, the BR probably needs the upgrade these days. It isn't like this is a godly weapon or anything, I just got annoyed when I saw the proc on it was identical and it appears to use the rapier graphic as well.

cheers,
Celeris

If you think that's bad, look at what Verant did to mess up the Druid Temple of Solusek Ro Quests... Oh yeah, I forgot, there ISN'T ANY!

What the heck do Rogues have to do with Solusek Ro anyway? I guess Druids just have NOTHING whatsoever to do with Solusek Ro.

Hmm, druid spells named Ro's Fiery Sundering, Fixation of Ro, Breath of Ro and all the good druid DD's are Fire based. Yeah, Druids and Sol Ro don't mix. LMAO.

Just be happy you even got any freakin quests there.

Burning Rapier is still a better ratio.. faster too.
RE: Oh great.
# Jul 02 2001 at 10:47 PM Rating: Default
Somehow I think this would be a much better offhand weapon than the BR would ever be. Just my opinion though.
RE: Oh great.
# Jul 03 2001 at 3:46 AM Rating: Default
No, he's right, this weapon is indeed much better than the Burning Rapier for the on hand, with that 10 damage you'll get significantly higher backstabs, and it has an identical proc. The ratio on the BR is slightly better (but only slightly, we're talking about .142,) and its stats are better, but this one will result in significantly higher backstabs, and that's what they pay you for.

On the other hand, I wouldn't exactly *complain.* The Burning Rapier was only really worth it for the minimum level you could do it with help, at least these days (you can do it at around 20 with judicious amounts of help and sneak,) and anyone with any reasonable amount of money could afford higher damage items with slightly less delay. I myself have a Crystal Grinder, which is a 9/27 with AC 3, and frankly the 2 extra points in raw damage makes up for the loss in .142 delay. Of course, it was given to me by a friend, but even so I couldn't imagine one going for *too* much.

Just for the record, a stilleto is has not a bladed edges, it's more of a spike and was invented for peircing chain mail.

One other note, I love a woman in 5 inch stilleto heels.

Stilleto is a 1 sided blade type dagger. (or basically a nice long knife nowadays)
A dagger is normally 2 sided (thus for thrusting and somewhat slashing).
A Stilleto was mostly used for short slashing technique.

So why is this a piercing weapon? :)
RE: stilleto?
# Jul 03 2001 at 4:18 AM Rating: Decent
Uh, no. Stilletos were specifically designed to penetrate armor, and generally didn't have a blade at all, just a very sharp point. They were generally intrigue weapons rather than face to face, but often someone would carry it with them into a combat to finish off foe who had fallen over. Its narrow point would easily slip through the links in chainmail and the force of the stab would burst the links open.

A friend of mine had one of the unbladed variety of these, its "blade" was essentially triangular, about a half inch a side, and came to a sharp point. If you dropped it from waist height, the point would easily stick the knife straight up into a hardwood floor. Nasty, but definitely a stabbing weapon.
anti-twink
# Jul 02 2001 at 5:54 PM Rating: Decent
it is no drop because verant is sick of opening new content or reworked content only to have the lvl 50+ crowd farm it for a twink. personally i think its a good change.
RE: anti-twink

I agree. Nothing is more frustrating than the level 1 ogre warriors I see running around with full Crafted and Cobalt except for their fungi tunics, with Hero Bracers, Wurmslayers and lord knows what else.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 02 2001 at 5:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What the hell is up with all the new befallen stuff being no drop? Its not class specific and its not all that good. Its nice but it is hardly worth of "no dropness" i hate it when verant does this crap...

Not Bad at All
# Jul 02 2001 at 5:15 PM Rating: Decent
Wow, decent stats on the weapon, and a proc. Also, note that it is a 10 damage piercer which is Rogue usable, and is, in comparison to many piercers of similar damage caliber, easy to acquire. Definitely a good reason to visit Befallen for you rogues.
