This is to the blacksmiths out there. If you make this armor for anyone, be sure to include your countless hours of struggle and all the money it took to get your skill high enough to even craft a suit of this stuff.
We smiths need to control our own economy and ensure that our efforts fetch the proper compensation. Even if the customer provides all the material, they are not providing the 200+ skill in smithing. And if someone begs, remember all those metal bits and how nobody wanted your silly lamps and pots.
"In a dog eat dog society, a cunning feline will rule the world."
1. It's wearable chain that all Dark Elves, and Some Half Elves can wear.
2. It's extreamly light armor.
3. It has great AC for being considered a "Cloth" type armor.
4. It has the stats that players want. +Wis for Clerics, +Int for the other casters. Sv Vs. Magic for both.
5. It's not terribly expensive anymore. No more blue diamond cuts 500pp to 9000pp from each piece in cost.
6. The worst part of getting it is now the temper, which you can camp a whole suits worth in a week or less, and thats at level 25-30.
7. It looks awesome. The skin is from banded (of course) but it's dark black. They added some tinting so the tunic/glove/hat/sleeves look dark purple. The leggings look dark Red. This stuff looks WAY better than Ravenscale, but it doesn't really have the stats rogues want.
8. Many grandmaster smiths will combine if you get all the materials together for free.
9. You can easily get a whole suit for under 5k if you know a good smith.
I got lots of the bloods in bank still from when I gave up.
I just checked though and the chain mail enchanted adamantite visor is DANG GOOD for my cleric dark elf who makes this stuff (or well do more now since no more BD's ;) ) At something like 4 ac and 2 wis. She is a cleric DEF and already has high wis (190 currently with a coldain beard on face or something so no wis there) so i think going for AC helps her more than say the 7 or 8 wis veil.
Removing those gems to enchant was one of smartest things they've done for trade skills, especially since the blue diamonds now make some of the best resist gear in the game.
Hmm now i just gotta get essence and find a friendly chanter to enchant adamantite.
Oh, FYI, My troll sk level 30 went to the ranger wood elf isle in timorous, since they nerfed the drop of blood from slaves, this may be an ok place to get wood elf blood. Some of them were still xp to her and she got maybe a total of 3 killing them fast in a couple hours.. not sure how that stacks up to other wood elf blood. Er... i guess its just called ELF blood, been a while so i forget.
Yes, I was quite happy when I read about that change in the patch message. I now have a good chance of actually making some enchanted Koada'Dal chainmail armor. Just need to work on my smithing skill...
If casters can truly wear this then I know what I'm going to make my new dark elf into. I have started her on baking but there in no rule that I can't do more than one thing!:) It will take me a while to get it up in skill but I am VERY happy I can find this kind of AC w/stats for a caster and not have to kill high level creatures that are heavly camped.
I like this item, its a nice +wis item for those who are tired of trying for a rare drop belt in Crystal Caverns.
Yes the CC belt is better, probably cheaper, and can be gotten at level 30. But the point is I can now buy an item from a true craftsman (who is an ever rarer spawn sometimes) and not waste my time killing green's to get a drop.
If there's a smith Making these on Vesheen, what is a "fair price"?
