This is better than ornate armor up until level 55 (unless you've gone to the trouble of flagging a 46 for HoH and BoT, in which case I think you're insane and should be shot), and better than elemental until 65. Think about it. You don't get stats unless you can equip/make something. You can get faction for, and do the multiquest for this at level 1. And as someone with the top end gear of PoP and some decent drops out of GoD in 2004 with 0 augmentations on his gear, I call ******** and say that this was a troll post.

Wow, how astute. So a BP, that is now 4 expansions old, is not "good" by today's standards. Course, since you can DUO (with 65 cleric 65 SK, I have done this, to twink a guildmate) the mobs that drop the quest pieces, its pretty darned easy to get.

Why would you expact velious quest armor to be up to PoP standards?
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 19 2003 at 10:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) with the effect on this BP (+31ac) think of it as a 73ac BP ;) plus all those stats. cant go wrong with 73 ac...

Ok here is how to get corroded plate bp..go to the Arena and pull Adjutants (sp) we pulled 2 and both dropped a bp one plate, one silk...I am not sure if they nerfed the drop rate but we nearly fell off our chairs.

happy hunting
RE: Re: Corroded Plate
# Feb 17 2003 at 3:22 AM Rating: Decent
Yup, ya got very, very lucky. I'm no expert on the Arena, but I've spent my fair share of time there.

BP's are still random drops, and in probably 50+ hours of raiding in the Arena, I've yet to see one drop. I've seen greaves drop twice, and they seem to be the next rarest drop. Boots and helms are more common, then have seen quite a few bracers, gaunts, and vambraces drop. They're easily the most common. Can't recall having seen any spaulders drop, that may just be my bad memory though.

Hmm... just noticed Allakhazam's doesn't even list spaulders as a drop, so mebbe that's why I haven't seen them. ;p

Thurg quest armor drops off Adjutants, Troopers, Legionnaires, and Veterans.

How is allowing another race to wear an item a nerf?
Removing some of the existing classes would be a nerf but adding sure wouldnt.
Anyway, stuff the halfling paladins. A race that has the ability to hide shouldnt be knight. Hardly fits in with the classes role does it?
Nice one VI :P

Pardon Me, But Halfing Pally's Do fit the role. Plus how many Halfing Pally's do you see running around, probably not many. So for all you Halfing Pallys' out there, lets show them that we can take the role with high Honors.

RE: Halflings
# May 12 2003 at 3:13 AM Rating: Default
Probably same thing they were smoking when they let halflings be rangers.. What good is a ranger who can't get LoS past a gnome? Seems SOE/VI decided there were not enough halflings in the world and decided to open up the classes to get more.. /shrug

Anyway - AFAIK, halfings can now wear this, and most other, plate armour. Generally VI/SOE changed virtually all existing armour to accomodate a new class/race combination... Then they go back and nerf things that never were intended. Frogloks, for example, can wear Velius quested armour, and could even before they became available as a playable race (the changes tend to go in early).

Someone asked about getting diamonds for the quest... Most people find them in the bazaar =/
I think most are found on mobs in WW or the higher level mobs in Velk's. As a general rule, the higher the mob, the more likely rare quest gems will drop.

Well...Blah blah blah...I love to be a Pally...as a Paladin I have saved the lives of so many other group members , they are always caught by surprise when they realize that we have 4 or 5 out of control mobs agroing 4 different members of the party at the same time, and the Cleric and chanter cant get a finger waggle off to send a heal...and right at the last 100hp of life is the only thing separating them from the Grim One.... LOH...Tadaaaa...a whole new outlook on life , a fresh start....Ahhh Stop and smell the roses..etc.
But thats just the beginning...with my weapon ,(Exquisite Velium Claidmore 32dmg 36 dly..plus bonus), and my Nife proc plus a spell..I have done 700 dmg in one attack against any undead... I love lighting up Dragon Necropolis with a nice Shammy dex buff. Point is like the few who understand the nature of the game... every class has its aplications and not everyone should hunt in the same zones... Anyway Warriors are Pansies ... =P

Lossa Flaming, not enough info
# Nov 30 2001 at 7:45 AM Rating: Decent
Let's get to the point, those who have pieces of this set, gimme a clue. Are gems completely random drops? If so, do people trade for gems for different classes? Then to the corroded plate... I can't seem to find a decent statement on where to get these to drop, is it random as well? Do they all drop in the same place? Myself and a monk friend are willing to put alot of time into getting this set and the Grand Master's for him. We are clueless as to where to start.

Corroded arnour drops in Kael only from the Arena mainly but other places also you are looking for higher lvl mobs forget the names so check out the listings but any of the high end mobscan drop ANY of the thurgadin quest bits and yes it is randon . Gems check out the section on this site it has a table detailing what drops where and again they are all random . hope this clarifies things for you .

The pieces drops in Kael.

But the parts for Plate classes drops in "Riff house" they may also drop in the arena, but that one is a bit harder than Riff. The pieces for non plate classes drops in Arena.
(Riff is #11 on EQ-atlas and Arena is #3)

Class cutdown BS
# Jun 13 2001 at 12:08 AM Rating: Excellent
Decent Pally gear is definitely harder to get than warrior gear. Therefore warriors are generally better equiped than Paladins with equal time spent on development. I'm a lv 60 Paladin on Eci server. Once I got a decent weapon, and armor I was able to give Guild Warriors who used to beat me easily in duels a good thrashing. Yes they do more damage than me, but with my celestial heals making all of my manna now part of the fight, I can easily generate over 12,000 hit points in a fight for myself. Not many in any class can deal out 12,000 hit points of dammage to me while I carve up their 4000 or 5000. Only place I'd trade my pally for a warrior is on 100% mr mobs where the warrior crits are what do most of the dammage. Alternatively, Pallies can out taunt anyone with 4 stuns (dw bracer) and flash of light and keep mobs off the real dammage dealers, the rogues monks and casters. Ask any 55+ crew I hunt with if they'd trade me over any warrior when it hits the fan and I'm confident they'll pick me. I can't even count the times loh saved the chanter or the cleric when it hit the fan and saved a nasty bout of cr. Also, when a mob agroes and ping pongs on either clerics, casters or chanters a quick stun puts an immediate stop to it, all a warrior can do is chase the mob around and watch them die. What gives pallies a bad rep is inexperienced people playing them like warriors. We are not warriors. We are not as good at mellee, but we are imeasurably superior at performing the task we are designed for. Group defense for the purpose of raising a groups survivability. Can a warrior outdamage a Pally, generally yes. Can a warrior outdamage a monk, rogue, or caster. Generally no. Can a Warrior protect those damage dealing classes as well as a Paladin while they dole out the punishment? Of course not, that's not even a close call. We all have our respective role to play. Class cut downs only serve to display the ignorance of the people doing it on the true roles the classes are designed to fulfil. with respect to the value of Shield of Words as a proc, even the 60 clerics in my guild rarely cast SoW because it eats so much manna. I cast it on myself but not on others for the same reason. Having that buff manna free would be a big plus for any group, excepting those with Aegolism casting clerics.

"paladin out tank a warrior" i can!!!! no no i really can. my gear is all that either, and i can out tank warrior's cept on some mobs in PoP or mobs that hit for 400+. i can tank alot of stuff and stuns and group heals really draw arrgo. and in some places clerics love not having to heal and can nuke mobs. like KC, its a simple zone so to speak, i can tank all but 2 mobs..VS and VSR, and i don't need to be healed much cept on BG, nameds, and basement. my guild loves when i go to work on a mob and LoH the dumb warriors.

I completely aggree with you. I am a lvl 47 paladin, and I know that I play the pally class better than most at my level range. How do I say this? Because, if I ever find a group (not many people want pallies in tough camps) I get comments all the time, about how well I play a pally, how I'm the best pally they've played with, how I actually make pallies seem useful. I'm not a bragger, I just think most people suck at playing pallies. Name one class that is better at aggro control than a pally. You want the mob off of you? Ask me. You want me to tank? I can get any mob on me, throw a couple stuns/DD, and they're all mine. No warrior can get a mob off of me, if I dont want them to. You just stand there and whack the mob, I'll control the situation and make the camp alot easier for the whole group.
And one more thing, I get ******* at for asking for clarity when I'm grouped with a chanter. Please, I'm insulted, do you think I get to sit down and watch? No, I'm standing up whacking and casting, this is why I'm always lom without crack.
Just my opinions, feel free to flame.

RE: Class cutdown BS

Well... You are both very right about us (paladins) are able to hold aggro better than any other class BUT (!!!) how often are we chosen as the class to hold aggro ? We have less hp & ac (than warriors) so we die faster, hence we are mana spunges for the clerics. Thats why they will (most of the time) choose a warrior instead of a paladin as main tank or the person holding aggro. Yes I too have been given strikt orders NOT to taunt nor use stun since it draws aggro to me but they dont want me to hold aggro because of what I said earlier. Sure I also enjoy beeing the one that once every 6-12 months or so saves the day and everyone are happy, but Id rather be useful everyday than just for those rare occasions. Since I started playing Eq the time I have to play has been drastically reduced and that means I want to have fun when I do play. As a paladin I just feel like I just cant be as much help to the group as when I play a warrior. Like I said earlier Ive saved my groups from CRs more than once but people seem to forget (or just dont know) that their paladin saved them and hence we dont get rewarded. Stunning that mob that resisted mezz or saving someone from dying with LoH, ahh those moments are blizz but the ordinary fighting is just not enough fun for me =/

I know that there is little love lost between paladins and SKs, but as an SK, I am inclined to agree with you. When it comes down to it, a warrior is inevitabely limited to auto-attack and kicking/taunting. There isn't much else to it.. As far as actual agro control, that is the realm of the two knight classes. As a shadow knight, I can out taunt pretty much anything outside of a necro that is higher level than me who has thrown all caution to the wind and is trying to get agroed. And yes, I can out taunt wizards as a general rule too. I've seen a group in Velks that had no chanter and could only pull it off because there was a cleric and paladin that were chainstunning where needed. And believe me, the dogs didn't even twitch.. A warrior is little more than a meatshield. Whether you like it or not, can you realistically say otherwise? Shadow Knights and Paladins are tanks that have spells and the like to allow them to deal with problems that arise in groups, and this is where their strength lies. They may not be able to take shots quite as well as a warrior, but remember that is because they are more than just a meatshield, despite the fact that so many warriors tend to be unable to see past that role.

I liked your post. Very true and well said. Paladins are not inferior to warriors overall!
#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2001 at 1:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've been playing this game since October of 2000. It seems that many people think they have the best character in the game and do nothing but put others down for who they choose to be. I chose to be a Paladin because I like the idea of being able to swing an axe or 2HS weapon and still be able to cast healing on myself and others. I don't claim to be the best at what I am. I have never put anyone down because of what class or race they decide to represent. If there is somebody out there who thinks they are THE BEST, may I suggest to you that you contact Verant and see if they will add a new zone that is dedicated to and named after you. Who really cares if you can swing a sword and hit for 150 or if you can cast a spell and hit for 800. This game is meant for groups and not to see who can solo. I don't care what class or race you may be. We all ned each other in one way or another. Think about it. Warriors would BEG a Paladin for a heal if their life depended on it. But then turn around and bad mouth that very pally who just saved his life. It's sad. As far as newbies are concerned, we've all been there. I remember getting the soft cloth legs of shawl and think ' this is better than being naked'. 1AC is better than nothing. Well, that's my 2cp worth. This is great game and people need to understand that they NEED the other classes and races in order to survive.

Heh I still must say though, sometimes outsmarting a smart mouthed warrior or necro when they think they know more than you about the game from looking at the sites lol, and uve been playing since beta, heck a Paladin cant be always orderly gotta do what the rest do once in a while, and I do so hate when ppl put us down and say we are good for nothing, let me tell u something at high levels we are just as good as clerics, we have some decent attack spells, and we are fully melee, so dont say that, and I really cant count how many times I have LoH someone instead of myself, and I am continually the last to leave because what you warriors and high HP classes dont understand is that I still have more HP than you, heh I have lay on hands and a soul fire that procs with complete healing, so dont put us down plz, thats all us paladins are asking for.

Don't forget the paladin gets a 50% AC bonus as well so this BP alone is AC 63 to start with

42 / 2 = 21

42 + 21 = 63

but to include the SoW spell as added ac is wrong cause it is overall not just per piece.
But 63 added ac is very nice.

Just finished a raid today to get the Corroded armor. This stuff droped off of Veterans and Troopers in Kael around the arena area. Legos are the placerholders for these. The giants hit for 50 to 173 and some are casters. We went in with 3 groups of 50 to 55th levels.

Gems drop in Icewell and Wakening Land. By far easier to get them in Wakening Land as the yard trash in Icewell is 52. Flawless Diamond have a chance to drop off of any lv 55+ mob in Velious.

RE: ROFL
# Mar 16 2001 at 12:44 AM Rating: Default
Well, no one is defending that jab to Rangers, so I will. I like playing as a Ranger a lot more then a warrior. Not only is it a little more of a chalenge (while a warrior is what? Auto-attack on, hotkey, hotkey, hotkey, "Oops! I just trained 50 things on my group"), but I'd like to see you snare something, save a druid's mana by giving everyone sow, heal in a pinch, be able to out-run anything that can't catch sow, use spells as an extra-taunt, buff your own str with spells, cast regen spells on yourself, track, harmony, pull in a way more effective then "Hi Mr. Mob! Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow... Okay, NOW we can fight!", use camo to get through areas you can't hack and slash your way though, have better faction with some animal types, use minor damage shields, lower down-time with heals, cast anti-animal and anti-summoned spells, and cast plenty of self and group helpful spells to help in multiple situations (Enduring breath, levitate, etc.). You may be able to fight, but it looks like EverQuest goes a little beyond just hack and slash, hmm? I could make a list to defend Pali's too, but that seems to be taken care of. Face it, class balance goes beyond who can fight the best. Between the battles, you have about as much use as a wizard with a constant 0 mana.

I wonder if this genius has ever fought a Paladin in PvP. A Paladin in PvP is even more effective than a Paladin in non PvP. A Paladin can root, stun, and blind you, and then heal himself up to full health multiple times, He can buff himself, and add resistances for magic poison disease, and remove dots and debuffs. Have you ever tried to fight something when you were blind and rooted. This is why you hear so many Paladins complaining about poor damage output. They had to keep that weak or we would have totally dominated the PvP servers. Paladins are just a tough class to master. So wake up dude, All classes have their merits, and their weaknesses, it's just a mater of mastering what you have.

#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 16 2001 at 12:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Paly very useful at high lvl. I am playing a lvl 60 Paladin on Prexus Server. Otherday, I joined a raid in Kael with Domus Divinae guild to look for corroded armors. We had 4 groups. By the time we get deep inside the castle, we just got crushed by 2 high lvl giants. At that time, all the clerics were death and only about 4 of us left. A ranger, 2 mages with pets and me as a paly. I had only about 300 HP left and no LOH, so I decided to use Divine Aura to bail out to a corner and camp out. The ranger, 2 pets and 2 mages were tried to hold as long as they could. Finally, I camped out successful and log back in with a little HP left. The first thing I did was to rez the bard (Lewen is his name) and then the cleric lvl 56 and you guess what...? The Paladin save the day and reovered for the whole raid when when 23 people death and I am the only 1 who made the camp and save us all the trouble of corpse recover.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 25 2001 at 6:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Aww, he defends paladins, so cute. Have you ever played one in raids 55+? They are useless. Who gives a **** if they are nice in groups.
RE: Awww
# Feb 02 2001 at 4:43 AM Rating: Default
Paladins AC is getting up there with Warriors, and put stuns and heals on that and they are better in upper raids than warriors. Because you seem like an enlightened person and know raids, you must know that 90% of all damage done on a raid is done by your casters. A Warrior is a meat sheild. Pallies AC is starting to get up there (not quite match yet, but its getting there) and they can heal themselves, and stun, and bash. Warriors can sit there and take hits...end. Thank you for stating your opinion...too bad its wrong.
Awww?

I fail to see the point of raids. To gain "Ph4t l3wt" is it? What did the poor Dragon ever do to you?
A Paladin is an honorable warrior, what reason do we have to slaughter an innocent being? A breastplate? Maybe some fancy boots? Pah.
I have yet to see a Dragon attack anything that did not go looking for it. We may not be usefull in your pointless slaughter, but we dont care to be either. We have our place.
You are obviously some sort of Twink, power leveled, half ***** character, who cares about nothing save theirself. Therefore you are not worthy of anymore of my time.

Good day to you. And my Rodcet Nife take pity on you when you are stepped on by a giant winged lizard.

P.S. I will be questing for these items as soon possible, as a Paladin's life is based around becoming more powerfull so that they can do more for others, those of us with a code care little for your "ph4t l3wt".
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 30 2001 at 2:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) sorry to say but i found Paladins back up healing, stunning and LoH on the group healer on ur UBER raids has been most usefull.... i will agree they suck at melee and have crap ac.. but like anyother class they serve a purpose.. u must be a meat shield or something.. think of it this way.. we use u to take hits.. ur nothing more than a taunting pet..
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 17 2001 at 4:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) CRAP AC?????? Behind what? Who has better than AC than a Paladin? Nobody, but Warriors. SKs and Paladins tie second behind Warriors.
Effect (This BP is actually 74 AC)
# Jan 21 2001 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
The Effect adds a free 32 AC, for a total of 74 AC. Shield of Words is a 300 mana level 49 Cleric spell (and the last in the AC line).

74 > 45

This BP has Cobalt beat.
Unless
# Feb 05 2001 at 2:19 AM Rating: Default
Sure it beats Cobolt...

Unless theres a cleric in the group (when isnt there?) who can cast shield of words, then the buff is pretty much useless other than to save the cleric some mana
RE: Unless
# Mar 09 2001 at 10:35 AM Rating: Default
lol - and when isn't saving the cleric mana useless???
RE: Unless
# Mar 09 2001 at 10:43 AM Rating: Decent
heh - me thinks the poster meant to say:
when isn't saving the cleric some mana a HUGE help to the whole group? (less downtime, 1 more spell slot available, etc.)
Have another paly in group with deepwater bp for the free mana symbol of naltron buff too :-)

Actually, it is not. The AC from the BP turns into more than the listed 42. It may be up to almost twice as much as that, so really, it is probably more like 100 AC if you take the effect and "real" AC value.

Where does the corrupted armor drop?
Where do the flawless gems or crushed gems drop?

I do not believe that anyone argues with your right to post your opinion but the mean spirited, not to mention small minded, attitude that motivates your posts. If "Newbies" bother you so much then perhaps you should think of playing another game that does not involve interaction with other people. I, for one, would truthfully prefer that someone harboring the attitudes you promote not play the game. Your absence would make Everquest a much more enjoyable experience.

Also, if you are going to attack an individual, as you have in both of your posts, the least you could do is have the courage to leave a name and not remain anonymous.

The AC from sow is listed as *translated* AC.. i.e. what shows up on your xxxx/1000 in your profile.

The AC that is listed on items is raw AC, and to convert to translated (real) AC, you generally multiply by 1.5 for warriors (for monks its 1.6, for hybrids it might be 1.4 or 1.5, not sure of their exact number).

Kind of throws your equations off, eh?

And who the hell cares if the paladin can cast it themselves? Are you planning to solo? You're always going to be grouped with a cleric at high levels anyway, which means the warrior gets this spell anyway.

The effect saves clerics mana, it doesn't make paladins > warriors.

But thanks for playing the flame game, your consolation prize will be mailed to you later..

personaly, i hate people like you. People that post here are trying to help others get a feel for the item. So what if you don't agree with what was said...deal with it. These posts under everything are suposed to try and help or say weather they like the item or not. Having to post this makes me almost as sick as seeing your post in the first place.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 22 2001 at 3:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Personally, I hate people like you.

Personally attacking someone like you did, twice now, is not giving an opinion.
You can convince yourself that it is, but everyone else, except people like you, knows better.

Your comments give people the impression you have the personality of a dead skunk. Oh, and that is my opinion and valid according to your rules.

Signed,
Tired of lifeless dweebs like you.

Oh, I am sure your next attack will be on this post. Who cares, not me, your comments are as important to the world as snow snake pudding. So I will pre-repsond to you next comment with a big fat YAWN. :-O
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 21 2001 at 10:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) YOU must be the stupid one. It is for Paladins, not warriors. And the effect is not bad, it isnt the best, but hell, in a pinch, id take any AC buff over none.

Good lord, this thing is better than a Deepwater BP! You don't even have to be level 60 and have to kill Trakanon to get this, either! I can see I'll be slaughtering some giants soon...
Diamonds...

No idea which mob thye drop from, but the flawless diamonds needed for the quest are found in the Plane of Hate, so good luck on this one =)
RE: Diamonds...
# Jun 11 2001 at 1:28 PM Rating: Decent
I believe that the diamonds that drop in the plane of hate would be..... ta-da. Normal diamonds that are used in jewl craft. Anyways, I wish that these quest gems where dropped in the planes. It would make getting them a lot easier.
RE: Diamonds...

These diamonds may also drop in Hate Plane, but they drop in Kael and Wakening Lands also, and those places are MUCH easier to visit...

Deepwater Breastplate
Wt 10.00. +40 AC, +10 Str, +10 Wis, +50 Mana, LORE MAGIC Effect of Symbol of Pinzarn.

Runed Protector's Breastplate
Wt 9.00. +42 AC, +6 Str, +8 Sta, +8 Agi, +8 Dex, +8 Wis, +7 vsMg, +3 vsPos, +40 HP, +60 Mana, NODROP MAGIC Effect of Shield of Words.

Heh, we've come a long way. This only falls short of Cobalt by 3 AC. Runed Protector's ( a quest item of few, very rare high level components) vs. Deepwater (a dragon drop)> +2 AC, -4 STR, +8 STA, +8 AGI, +8 DEX, -2 WIS, +7 svm, +3 svp, +40 HP, +10 mana, -1 weight. You decide ;)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 20 2001 at 12:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) your a pali that means all you are is a cleric with an attitude not war with a religeous upbringing! *drops to his knees and hides behind his flame sheild* 8)

You do not understand what a Paladin is at all friend. A Paladin is 3/4 warrior, and 1/4 cleric. So you are compleatly wrong. We are closer to being a warrior than a cleric.

i`d rather have revive than have pinzarn on the DW bp =)
