Possibilities

Mkay, here's a brief rundown of a situation I was in, and my 2cp on these.

I was hanging out in my usual kiting spot in Tactics, left from the zonein. Was medding up and dropped a Diaku Scimitar on the ground. Within 2 minutes a Gladiator aggrod me, saying "You dare challenge me?" or some nonesense. Now this totally baffled me, since in the 20+ hours I've spent kiting in this spot, I have never seen a roamer. I had been sitting in the middle of the sand pit when the Gladiator aggrod me, and I have no clue where she came from.

Now... on to the weapons...

a) Pure Vendor Trash
b) Pure cosmetics to make the ogres look fancy
c) Damage-nerfing weapons (considering how crappy the dmg/dly is, and the fact they wield them, they would tend to do less damage than they would normally hand to hand, one would think)
d) Unknown quest (some kind of trigger, or was that just a fluke?)
e) Something to annoy players.

I highly doubt it's a tradeskill thing, since every single Diaku drops a weapon.

"Now... on to the weapons...

a) Pure Vendor Trash
pretty much, sells for about 10pp if i remember correctly.
b) Pure cosmetics to make the ogres look fancy
This and roleplay reasons are prob the main reason they exist.
c) Damage-nerfing weapons (considering how crappy the dmg/dly is, and the fact they wield them, they would tend to do less damage than they would normally hand to hand, one would think) Actually, since dmg/dly of weps doesn't affect npcs dmg/dly at all, i would actually think these would HELP npcs, because i'd assume their 1hs/piercing/etc would be higher then h2h, but hey could be wrong.
d) Unknown quest (some kind of trigger, or was that just a fluke?) Who knows man :)
e) Something to annoy players."
maybe?

Gave one to my mage's pet and it didn't looked equiped, but with the none/none tag, it's probably just a pet weapon, a quest piece, or a sellable.
Why

Why is verant making these things?

What's the point of gaining access to Drunder, just to loot this crap? Hell, Fine Steel is much the same, minus the magic, and not only is it equipable, but it's also convertible. There's something that involves these things, I'd think, but I've yet to see a recipe for them, so I'm not liable to loot any, once I get there.

notice thats its not usable by any class or race, that shows that it is more than likely a quest item. hopefully anyway lol
