Career / Current Level of School: Currently doing IT work and sometimes driving/gunning for our convoy team when they need me. I came over here between my junior and senior year in college as an intern and haven't left since =). So, degree in progress. Hobbies: I really don't have time for much over here besides work. After work I'm usually on EQ for a few hours each day. I'm also part of the Hash House Harriers in Baghdad (a drinking club with a running problem), but shhh we're not supposed to drink over here ;). Playing my Xbox 360 and of course watching the latest in pirated movies. Family? I have one younger brother. Mom, Dad and my dog Miko. Your Website: www.ringofvalor.org Besides EverQuest, what other MMORPGs have you played? I first got into MMO's back when Diablo 1 came out (if you consider that an MMO =P ) I beta tested Planetside and then played that for 6 months. I also beta tested Ragnarok Online and played that for about 6 months as well. I also played WOW for 4 days, that was as much as I could stand before I jabbed my eyes out with red hot fire pokers. How did you find out about EverQuest, and when did you begin playing? I first found out about EQ back in 2000 (when I was 16) after reading about it in Inquest magazine. My parents refused to pay 10 bucks a month for a game, so when I had saved up money and convinced them to let me play, I started EQ in June of 2001. Do you know anyone in real life who plays EverQuest? I know a few. The ones I meet usually play on different servers though. How did you come up with your main character's name? I'll just say it definately wasn't a rogueish character from a fantasy novel with a certain albino emperor sorcerer *cough* *cough* What factors affected your choice of race / class for your main character? Well when I bought the game it came with Kunark and also a Kunark strategy guide. So I poured through that thing as well as looking up class descriptions online and the appeal of a sneaky thief drew me in. Also I didn't want to be a Dark Elf (Drizzt wannabees haha =P ) And I thought about Elrond the Half Elf from Lord of the Rings and how he was totally awesome when he was younger, so I choose that. And also for the some-what night-vision. About how often do you play EverQuest, and how long is a typical playing session for you? I usually play when I get off work, which is around 5pm till about 11pm most days. How do you spend your time in game? Well since my playing time is +7 hours EST usually it takes a while to get a group, so I camped/soloed every rare/ultra-rare item I could use. (chokdai vocal chords, anklesmasher, shield of immaculate, halfling mask, willsapper, neb's warbone, just to name a few). Lately it's been skilling up tradeskills. What other class/race combinations have you levelled past 35? Just my 80 Half Elf Rogue =) Approximately how much of the EverQuest world have you experienced? Just about everything except end raid Solteris and SoF. Stupid time difference prevents me from raiding =( What is your favourite expansion? Kunark hands down! Kunark had everything in it! And was also the first expansion I played. What is your least favourite expansion? GoD. Ugh need I say more?? What is your favourite zone? Would have to be Old Sebilis. This zone had EVERYTHING you could want in it. Clicky armor that were actually upgrades (at the time), tons of camps (also needed a rogue to get to 4d), Trakanon, the merry mushroom people. So many memories of Seb. What is your favourite NPC? Shainai. Because she was just a little kitten who wanted buttons for her dad BUT THEN SHE WOULD GET BRUTALLY STABBED IN THE FACE FOR HER CLOTHES! What is your favourite raid encounter (if different from NPC)? Naggy raid. It was the first real raid I did. And then when I was above lvl 50 me and the other lvl 50's would help clear up to the outside of Naggy's room and yell encouragement for the under 50's to keep zerging Naggy until he died. If the war between Firiona Vie and Lanys T`Vyl erupted again, which side would you take? Firiona Vie 'cause she's hot.... o_O Describe your most memorable moment or proudest accomplishment in game. most memorable was when I was just exploring in LOIO and went inside the sarnak fort to look around and found an unlooted corpse in the hallways. I look on the corpse and there was a Bracer of the Hidden!!! I almost peed my pants in excitement since I had never seen one before. Oh and also winning Torpor back in the day and able to sell it for 90k and 2 Jade Reavers haha. Also when I finally figured out where the orc lift, newbie lift and PoD lift were in Kelethin. What is the largest amount of platinum you have ever had at one time, and how did you go about accumulating it? A million or so. Selling things like glossy's, MDS (before the patches) and other high end cultural drops. What are some things you would change or implement in order to improve EverQuest? I'd bring back hell levels. At least after getting through a hell level you felt as if you earned it. None of this getting to lvl 50 in a week type of stuff. Oh and I'd bring back the boats. Nothing like the 45 min boat ride from Butcherblock to FV and listening to the nice music. What types of spells, skills, disciplines, and/or alternate abilities would you like to see added to your class? More DPS more DPS more DPs! Quit giving us mez discs >_< If you were responsible for organizing and running a GM event, what would it be and how would it play out? It would be a horse race. Everyone would get bridles and would have to /shout "FANCY-DANCY-MAGIC-PRANCY" which would summon huge pink unicorns, to which the Paladins and Monks would squeel in delight, and everyone would hold hands and run around the zone eating hearts and throwing lollipops at each other. If you had to start over from scratch, what race/class combination would you choose? I'd probably play the exact same race/class combo since I know what to do now =) . And this time when I distribute my base stat points they won't all go into agi =\ . The first rogue I made I got to lvl 10 and was worshipping Tunare and I wasn't able to get a quest that involved freeing the slaves in crushbone for a cloak because the quest giving didn't like my diety. So I re-rolled and chose Bristlebane. Problem solved. How do you describe EverQuest to your coworkers or computer-illiterate friends? heh. I don't. What is next for you in the world of EverQuest? Working on my Master Artisan title. Much h8 for tailoring and smithing. ** Pick the winner in a battle between... Qeynos vs Felwithe - Felwithe. When Sony did the homecity tag for people mine was screwed up and I got stuck at Qeynos instead of Kelethin. Just so happens I'm KoS when I run outside the secret rogue room. So Qeynos should be razed to the ground for inconveniencing me. Innoruuk the Prince of Hate vs Cazic Thule the God of Fear - Cazic Thule. Bad memories of hour upon hour long hate raids just to wipe to Inny. Giants of Velious vs Akhevans of Luclin - Giants. They would def just step on the Akhevan and crush them. Muramites of Discord vs the Drachnids of Darkhollow - Muramites. I've died to those drachnids too many times. And also throw in the drachnids in FV getting smashed also. Tradeskilling vs Questing - Tradeskilling. I'm on a tradeskill binge right now. And it's mostly something you can do solo. Instance Zones vs Static Zones - Instance. It's nice not having to wait for a camp to open up. Less lag too. Monster Missions vs Project M (PvP as Monsters) - Monster Missions haha Soloing vs Pick-Up Groups - Pick-Up Groups. Soloing.....what's that? I'm a rogue. Guild Raiding vs Grouping With Friends - Since my time zone prevents me from raiding I would choose grouping with friends. BUT when I was raiding I would choose that, since it was raiding with friends. GM (real people) Events vs Scripted (computerized) Events - Scripted events. People act like total n00bs when there's GM events around and bitch and complain when they don't get ph4t l3wtz or titles. Arena Royal Rumble vs 1-on-1 Duel - I'm not big into PVP but I would say 1-on-1 like how BotB was. Takes a lot more skill than grouping with friends and taking out the stragglers. Faydwer vs Odus - Faydwer. Since I started out in GFay. Ahh the good ol' days of wiping to Dvinn in Crushbone. Kunark vs Velious - Kunark. Planes of Power vs Gates of Discord - Planes of Power. Depths of Darkhollow vs Omens of War - Depths of Darkhollow. The instances and rewards and raids were excellent (at the time). Also had a lot of groupable content. Bard vs Enchanter - Bard. GO GO GOOD TEAM! Monk vs Rogue - I'm a rogue so.... ROGUE, plus we always out-DPS monks anyways ;) Paladin vs Warrior - Warrior. Allakhazam vs Illia - heh. Well it's a tie. I use both equally. Alla tells me what the loot is and Illia's tells me what drops it.
