I also love to write and create/design new worlds, but alas, my D&D days are over and I rarely find an outlet for that need -- although I sometimes make LoN parody cards for my fellow EQ fans. The first game I played was a MUD called Glass Dragon. It had a good community and it was there I first learned how to be a quest giver, though it was part of a dying breed of games and is a place I will sorely miss at times. The thing I miss about GD is the player involvement in quests and things like that. The GM run events on EQ don't even begin to hold a candle to them. I played Asheron's Call way back when it was in beta but never got involved enough to stick with it. One thing I did love about it -- a seamless world! I can't stand how EQ and EQ2 have "zone lines", drives me nuts! I had also given EQ2 some time. While it was a more attractive game in regards to environmental and monster graphics, the player graphics were hideous and the gameplay was just not appealing enough for me to leave EQ1. Though an improvement over EQ1, EQ2's tradeskill system left quite a bit to be desired. It was nice that it was involving the player, but after so many combines (especially with trivial recipes), the player shouldn't have to be directly involved in the process anymore. Ah, well, that's just One Man's Opinion, I guess. How did you find out about EverQuest, and when did you begin playing? I had been away from Glass Dragon for a few months and was missing having something like it in my life (an online community) so I started looking around. In June of 2004, I came across the free trial and gave it a whirl. Do you know anyone in real life who plays EverQuest? Just my wife and a few people I've met at games stores such as GameStop or Best Buy, though I've never actually met them in-game. How did you come up with your main character's name? Any die-hard Ultima fans like myself would recognize it! Come on, guys, you know who you are. Hollah back!! It's "Vas Mani" in reverse, which meant "Great Heal" in the Ultima universe. Just seemed fitting. What factors affected your choice of race / class for your main character? My first character was a human warrior, which had the same name and class of my 5-year-old character on Glass Dragon. As I approached level 50, I realized that acquiring money for a soloing warrior wasn't exactly easy, and I had seen lots of clerics casting buffs for plat in PoK, so I started up a cleric for just that purpose. Eventually, I got so entwined into the community with my cleric that I decided my warrior just wasn't anymore fun. Far as why I picked high elf -- who the heck knows! About how often do you play EverQuest, and how long is a typical playing session for you? Every day, usually 4-6 hours a day, though a good deal of that can be spent AFK. Some days I play longer. How do you spend your time in game? Lately, LDoNs, trying to max out mine and my wife's charm augs. We also intend to finish BiC, Shield of the Otherworld and other such quests. What class/race combinations have you levelled past 35? L50 Human warrior (since deleted) L77 Human enchanter (she's my "second main", I usually bot her) L70 Vah shir shaman L75 Half-elf bard L61 Human monk L80 High elf cleric with near max AA Approximately how much of the EverQuest world have you experienced? Tons and tons, but I also have tons and tons left to go! What is your favourite expansion? Omens -- simply put, Anguish was "the place to be" when I was up-and-coming, and I craved it more than anything else. I immersed myself completely in the lore and in every zone. I did every quest and killed every named I could, and I loved it. There's very little of any OoW zone that I don't know about (though I'm sure you could find something obscure I've yet to find if you try!). Even to this day, I intend to go back and lay waste to the heathen known as Overlord Mata Muram. I hope someday that another Muramite expansion comes out... hey, there's always Fabled, right? What is your least favourite expansion? Prophecy of Ro. Ugh. I just don't like it. Bad taste in my mouth, every single zone is ugly, I don't know a blasted thing about the lore and the quests are royal pains in the arse. I never care to step foot in another PoR zone again. What is your favourite zone? Muramite Proving Grounds -- Efficiency Trial. 'Nuff said, baby. What is your favourite raid encounter (if different from NPC)? Anything involving any Cleric Epic. Why? Have you SEEN the cleric epics? Seriously though, class pride. Love the class and wish I had more opportunities to meet the women... *cough* I mean people who play them! *snicker* If the war between Firiona Vie and Lanys T`Vyl erupted again, which side would you take? Neither, I despise them both. Describe your most memorable moment or proudest accomplishment in game. Honestly, anytime someone links something they just received from a quest (such as an epic) or as a drop, when I was there to help them. That's the best feeling in this game. What is the largest amount of platinum you have ever had at one time, and how did you go about accumulating it? I just recently had over 2.5 million platinum in my bank. I mostly sold SoF drops in the bazaar, nothing really special. Then, I proceeded to blow 2.4M of it on LoN boosters and tradeskills! Easy come, easy go, I guess. What are some things you would change or implement in order to improve EverQuest? Seriously, Sony, improve the tradeskill system and implement offline trading. That'd be a great start. What types of spells, skills, disciplines, and/or alternate abilities would you like to see added to your class? Clerics rock out loud, why fix what ain't broke? If you were responsible for organizing and running a GM event, what would it be and how would it play out? I'd love to see Crushbone wipe Kelethin off the face of the map. If you had to start over from scratch, what race/class combination would you choose? Dark elf cleric -- so that I can actually SNARE when I solo! How do you describe EverQuest to your coworkers or computer-illiterate friends? It's the leet ownzors. What is next for you in the world of EverQuest? Truthfully? I don't care, but I hope it involves meeting lots of cool new people. ** Pick the winner in a battle between... Qeynos vs Felwithe - Neither, let them both burn. Muramites of Discord vs the Drachnids of Darkhollow - Muramites, OF COURSE! Tradeskilling vs Questing - Questing, because Tradeskills are teh debul. Instance Zones vs Static Zones - Static. If there are no noob trains, there's no fun. Monster Missions vs Project M (PvP as Monsters) - Pickup groups. Don't usually meet new people soloing. Soloing vs Pick-Up Groups - Pickup groups. Don't usually meet new people soloing. Guild Raiding vs Grouping With Friends - But wait, my guild ARE my friends! GM (real people) Events vs Scripted (computerized) Events - With the way GM events go these days, that's a tough call. Arena Royal Rumble vs 1-on-1 Duel - I don't do PVP, yo. Faydwer vs Odus - Eww, the Fay, of course... Kunark vs Velious - Velious, hands down. Planes of Power vs Gates of Discord - Discord pwnz all. Depths of Darkhollow vs Omens of War - See above. Bard vs Enchanter - Bard, but only because they run so fast Monk vs Rogue - Depends, is the monk FD?
