I've played WoW and beta tested Vanguard. EQ is above and beyond the rest; I love the game play/style. It isn't geared toward immediate satisfaction. You get a sense of accomplishment with what you earn in EQ. How did you find out about EverQuest, and when did you begin playing? I came across it at the local video game store and didn't realize it was an online game. I gave it a try and got hooked from the get go. I started playing late 2003. Do you know anyone in real life who plays EverQuest? One day I noticed my 2-year-old nephew going outside without his shoes on, so I asked him, "What are you, a hippy, running around without your shoes on?" He said he wasn't and I said, "Whelp, I am." Then he said, "Oh me too," and it kinda became his nickname. Since I play a druid it kind of seemed fitting. I also love the stereotypical hippy music: Phish, The Grateful Dead, etc. What factors affected your choice of race / class for your main character? I started out playing a warrior. I detested how long I spent getting from point A to B, hated being unable to solo, and once spent 4hrs lost, swimming in Timorous Deep. So the master of travel and the ability to solo well was a major factor. Halflings had a decent stamina base so I went with that. About how often do you play EverQuest, and how long is a typical playing session for you? I raid from 7pm-12am EST, Sun-Fri. and ocassionally play around the same time Saturday's. How do you spend your time in game? Raiding end game content. If not raiding I like to solo, duo, and group old raid content. What other class/race combinations have you levelled past 35? 57 Human Warrior, and a 36 Troll Shaman. Approximately how much of the EverQuest world have you experienced? My goal is to experience it all, and since I started after PoP came out I've had to play catch up so I won't miss anything. I'd guess 90-95% of the significant content that is still available. Obviously some things have changed so I can't go back in time to experience things like The Sleeper or original Plane of Mischief. If I could I would though. What is your favourite expansion? Planes of Power, the script for the raid events and progression was impressive. What is your least favourite expansion? LDoN, poor raid content and endless, mindless grinding. What is your favourite zone? Plane of Mischief, the thought and level of detail in it is amazing. What is your favourite NPC? Sirran The Lunatic, 'What?! Now you've done it! The bunnies are angry! ANGRY I TELL YOU!' What is your favourite raid encounter (if different from NPC)? Mayong Mistmoore was fun, it wasn't easy and was one of the earliest end game encounters I experienced when it was still new content. Plus the MM model still is sweet and you get a title for triggering. If the war between Firiona Vie and Lanys T`Vyl erupted again, which side would you take? Firiona Vie, gotta help the girl. Describe your most memorable moment or proudest accomplishment in game. Igniting bones on every raid mob that I come across; usurping cleric class leader position in Crimson Tempest. What are some things you would change or implement in order to improve EverQuest? Bring back "FUN" GM events, serverwide arena, replace Merloc. Devote some time and energy into working out known issues/bugs. For instance currently Solteris is laggy beyond reason and crashes way too often. When 54 ppl spend hours to clear trash engage an event only for it to crash at 10% numerous times that is unacceptable. Better communication with the EQ community, so we can let them know what's wrong and what needs to be worked on. What types of spells, skills, disciplines, and/or alternate abilities would you like to see added to your class? Druids need faster heals, an ice based DoT, and more DPS. If you were responsible for organizing and running a GM event, what would it be and how would it play out? A nicely scripted war type event would be fun. Could weave some lore for a basis and pit race against race. Bristlebane could lead me and my fellow halfings versus "The Others." If you had to start over from scratch, what race/class combination would you choose? Troll, Berserker. Trolls are seldom seen, and I'd like to play a DPS class for a change. How do you describe EverQuest to your coworkers or computer-illiterate friends? I tell them it's a time sink DO NO MAKE MY MISTAKE. What is next for you in the world of EverQuest? #1 druid Serverwide if those above me would slack a bit more. ** Pick the winner in a battle between... Grobb vs Ak'Anon - Ak'Anon, Gnomes Rule Giants of Velious vs Akhevans of Luclin - Akhevans Saryrn, the Mistress of Pain vs Terris Thule, the Dream Scorcher - Saryrn: TT is no Freddy Krueger Muramites of Discord vs the Drachnids of Darkhollow - Muramites Tradeskilling vs Questing - Questing Instance Zones vs Static Zones - Instances: With three top guilds on my server static would kill progression. Monster Missions vs Project M (PvP as Monsters) - Project M? Soloing vs Pick-Up Groups - Soloing, because Darwinism isn't factored into EQ Guild Raiding vs Grouping With Friends - Guild raiding, it's more fun to coordinate and win an event after spending time working on it. GM (real people) Events vs Scripted (computerized) Events - Scripted, GM's aren't known for creativity. Arena Royal Rumble vs 1-on-1 Duel - Royal Rumble. Chaos is fun. Faydwer vs Odus - Faydwer Kunark vs Velious - Velious Planes of Power vs Gates of Discord - PoP, too much fun killing the gods. Depths of Darkhollow vs Omens of War - OoW: Anguish was a blast. Bard vs Enchanter - Bard Monk vs Rogue - Rogue Paladin vs Warrior - Warrior Allakhazam vs Illia - Allakhazam
