I ended up re rolling Pyromancer, with a focus on Dex. Using an Uchigatana +7 atm, I Finished the Depths last night and tried to quick - run blight town, and got crushed by quelaag. Only level 20 atm, so I'm going to boost myself as much as possible then come back.

What level is your pyromancy flame? Get that up above 5 or so and she shouldn't be too bad.

Also, anyone try the Dragon Bare Fisties Challenge? My roommate's been working on it off and on for a while.

Holy smokes pyromancy is strong. I got the guy in my camp now and he upped my glove to +6 so far. Now I two shot stone giants with fire orbs. My guy is all str dex and end too. I think my int is like 9... (Must not reroll again but totally going to try a pyromancer after this knight)

I'm level 32 and I just beat gaping dragon + moonlight butterfly. Have not tried the dreaded blight town yet because I am obsessed with grinding.

Oh and I got invaded in the Depths so I guess that error about windows live and offline mode is just a clever ruse. I was pretty surprised but I whooped the guy with my +5 longsword using stab slashes. He dropped me 2 humanity and like 13k souls. Thanks random guy!

One thing to note, in case you didn't know, is Pyromancy doesn't scale with any stats, so you can invest a lot early, and deal a butt load of damage. Having Fire Orb definately helped with Gaping Dragon. My next move before re attempting Quelaag is to farm 70-100k souls and dump them into my pyro glove, then onto Sens Fortress.

Ah, good to know. I kind of had the feeling that might be the case after nuking around a bit.

So I decided I was not liking how my knight was doing in either blight town or the catacombs. Decided to roll me up a new pyromancer, kill to Taurus, and invest in faith up to 14 with end and vit.

Then I used the master key from the elevator down to new londo ruins/Valley of Drakes and promptly suicide ran the undead drake to pick up Dragon crest shield and Astora's strait sword. I'm a fan of longswords in the game with both thrust and slash. Plus it does Divine damage until I can go get me the ember to make ascended divine weapons.

Going for a Faithomancer ish type thing this time see how I like that. Plus I was really regretting not having master key to skip the top of blightown if I wanted. I'll never finish this game at this rate of rerolling >.>

The character I had 80% finished the game with was a Pyromancer with a lot of str/dex. I was using the Black Knight Halberd +5. You shouldn't be any where near the Catacombs. You're not supposed to go there until after Anor Londo, which is pretty tough. Blighttown is where you're supposed to be (to ring the second bell). Although I guess part of what's so great about Dark Souls is you can do the game in a really weird order, if you want.

Cool arcade pick.

I thought Catacombs seemed easier with a divine weapon than the top of Blighttown did without a fire sword. So I was going to unlock the giant BS and get a firesword.

It's all good now though every new character my concept is tightening up and I can get caught back up in less than half the time it took before. Just since this morning I am already level 20 on the Faithomancer. Killed Gargoyles and Capra demon, traded to snuggy to +3 my Astora with twinkling titanite, and freed the pyro NPC. Got my glove to +3 and I'm off to kill the moth and grab my divine ember. Mostly it's just knowing where everything is and how to move through it quickly.

I know Dex over 35 will scale to casting speed but I figured I would go faith instead so I can use a mix of pyro and cleric spells. I freaking love having heal slotted. Saves so much on estus between fights. Mine is already scaling to a near full heal. Plus I figure acended divine longsword +10 should scale similar to what a dex weapon would. Probably not completely but most likely close enough with wicked spells on top.

The Catacombs is really easy if you have a divine damage weapon. I often go there after the gargoyles to +5 Fire a weapon and grab the item that allows you to kindle up to 20 flasks before continuing on.

I'm not a fan of the area beyond without having Homing Soul Mass, but the catacombs itself is rather easy.

My new build is working out great so far. Decided to Sunbro so I could get lightning spear. Now I can burn them with pyro or lance them like Zeus. Enchanted a Divine Balder Side Sword to +5 and it seems to do great with my 25 faith. Using a mix of armors between +6 Elite Knight and +5 Pyro sets depending on if I want speed or stability for an area.

After I one shot Gaping D I decided to more fully explore Dark root forest and basin. Farmed up those 2k XP guys for a while and killed Hydra and Havil for his ring.

By that time I was like SL40 so I figured I wanted to see how the top of Blighttown was with the new build and higher level. Completely different story. I just basically wrecked the joint and laughed manically. I'm planning on killing Quelaag tonight but I think I might up my STR to +16 first from 12 so I can use my BK shield on her. I've got the dragon crest as a fallback but that's only 85% fire reduce compared to 95%.

Haven't decided if that 10% is worth wasting 4 points in Str that does not really suit my build but it might also allow me to dink around with slightly heavier weapon/sheild types.

You can do the catacombs first thing if you want to. It's the tomb of the giants that you shouldn't really bother with until you have the lordvessel.

Right now I've got Quelaag down, my Pyro glove is at Ascended +1, I'm using an Uchigatana +10, with a Divine Shotel +1 for when I plan on going through the Catacombs(going to upgrade more, the vendor at the top of Sens Fortress sells Green Titanite), and I'm upgrading another weapon to turn into Quelaags boss soul weapon by the time I get to the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo. This will be my second time through this part of the game.Furthest I've been was getting wrecked by the four kings as a Sorcerer. So far I've spent less than an hour grinding souls, and I've gained about 300k of them over the last couple of days.

If you already have the covetous gold serpent ring and the rusted ring, the leeches in blighttown near the giant tree drop an absurd amount of green shards(and large shards). When I was farming large shards to upgrade my Balder shield, I ended up with something like 45 green shards in the process(results probably atypical, but I'm sure you could still get 20-25 in no time).

Fire Claymore +5, Eagle Shield +10, Silver Knight Armor +3 + 7 Wanderer Hood (I don't like the silver knight helm), Pyro Glove Ascended +5, = Dead Smough and Ornstien!

I even killed Smough first so I could get Ornstiens armour. Man that fight is a summnabish. Love this game.

Double posting like a pro to say: 4 Kings down. Stone Giant Armor, Lightning Claymore +5. Charge and 2 hand with grass shield for stam to burn them each down before the next could spawn. Took 2 tries before I got it down.

So last week I was on crystal cavern with my Faithomancer and got kinda bored. Also I realized I did it again and because I wanted to use Ornstiens stuff and dragonslayer greatbow I had a very balanced non specialized character. I was not doing bad though, I fully intended to continue the character...

So I rolled a Sorc just to try out some spells. Now he is 87 and on the last boss of the game with all the souls needed to open up the last area.

Dex = 40
Int =40
End, Vit, STR between16-19 will boost end and vit first in NG+

Moonsoul GS + 5, Uchi +15,

Was doing Velika's Rapier + 5 for a while and it was fun but eventually the Uchi and the MLGS just out shined it. Crystal Magic Weapon + Uchi15 is the boss destroyer. The amount of damage you can spam out with that + stam regen items, while two handed is just insane. Gonna do the AotA expansion area first before moving on to new game plus.

This game is definitely a classic. Looking forward to DS2 hopefully they don't water it down to much and kill the charm.

Picked up my game again after a small break. I just got to Anor Londo. It's the most beautiful, awful place I've seen in the game, thusfar.

.... Those two bow knights, man, seriously.

Nah, s'all good. By the time I'd make it back to do that, I'm sure I'd be able to pass them. I almost got through them last time by making them run off the cliff; bet I can manage it as is.

It's just that this is the first part of the game where I feel like it's actually trolling me. The big armored knights are laughably impossible to kill, and it's a minor miracle that I crossed the beams in the church without falling. Also, the demons tear me apart; I've just been running past them.

But I'll manage. Smiley: lol

How much damage are you doing to the big knights? They have an easy way to get them to give you an opening, but if you're not doing enough DPS, they'll just heal up to full over and over.

Hmm, I don't know off the top of my head. Probably not much. I'm in a tanky faith build with no more than an unbuffed divine partizan/lightning spear and the drake sword to my name. My damage output isn't anything to write home about.

I suspect I'd be able to take down a single one well enough, but most I saw were in pairs, so I deemed them not worth the trouble right now. They're easy enough to avoid. The demons gave me more fits - I had to find ways to lure them off edges.

If you have a great shield you can just riot shield the right hand knight off the ledge by rolling up to the corner and making him draw his sword. Then just block him and he will fall off. On my first guy I got really good at parrying them with a target shield. It's hard to parry the halberd ones but the sword knights are super easy to parry and counter.

I got a new toon now with 40 STR 40 End and he had the easiest Anno Londor ever. Great Shield + Zweihander you can 2-3 hit the giants. R2 strong knocks knights over spat on their face. Totally hilarious.

I farmed the 2 big giants before orn and smo for chuncks to make a lightning Zwei +5 and that thing is so fun. Walk through the giants legs. Swing twice, profit.

Now I have moved on to using a Manserpent GS +15. That sword does sick damage with A scaling on str. I'm also wearing Black Iron Tarkus gear with a great shield of Ast. Need havels ring and a RoFaP just to stay under 50% weight but I could just sit their and block Flame demon boss on the way to Izalith and 4 kings was silly easy.

I don't know why str builds get a bad rap. I'm using 0 magic or pyro just a crap ton of str, end and vit and it's my easiest run through NG yet. Almost to Nito on him and he is the last one.
