Does anyone else miss the choices we used to have to pick our own colors for chat channels etc?
Does anyone know why SOE removed this option?
Thanks...

I don't know why they were taken out of the options window. However they can still be changed in your ini files or through commands.

I'm guessing Sony took them out to make it less confusing for players. Or it was a mistake. Hmm Sony make a mistake, nah.

?

shift + W (or it might be control + w) brings up options menu for me still, as of yesterday even. then you goto colors and can change your chat text colors.

was working fine yesterday the 22nd, i will confirm again when i go home tonight.

i know because i had a problem with the install of DoD, so i reinstalled all of EQ, and i lost all of my chat colors, so over the last week i have been trying to tweak it back to how i like them. IE: /group light blue, /occ yellow, /shout dark blue (i like not being able to see the anoying shouts ;-P), /tells yellow to my tell box ect....

working for me....

Do a check all files advanced option at start-up (patching/loading)screen. Usually fixes problems that only a few have. Might even re-download DoD at the same time.

Alt-W should bring up the long toolbar called Window Selector if it already isn't up. You push the big O on that toolbar to get to Options. You push the tab marked 'Colors' on that window to change your colors. I do note, now that I've looked, that the number of things you can control this way has been reduced dramatically. I can only assume, that you can still control the others using the .ini file.

Here's the info from my .ini file. I may have to ressurect the utility that let me edit it with an understandable interface, lol, or at least find the list of what number is what channel.

Did advanced download.

Clicked alt w and got the old windows bar.

Clicked options.

Clikced colors.

Can change say, tell, group, ooc, aution, shout, emotes, spells, you hit other, other hits you, you miss other, other misses you, some broadcasts, skills, special abilities, unused at this time (wonder what this one is going to be used for), default text, unused at this time (another one), merchant offer price, merchant buy/sell, your death message, other death messagem other damage other, other miss other.

No mention of changing colors in chat channels which is what I would like to change. When we are raiding I have as many as 6 channels not including rsay and gu. I would like to change the colors of 2 of these channels. So I guess I will have to go to the ini files.

the command to change the color in game is /usercolor there is about 7 pages. should look like this /usercolor page1

each option has a number there is like 80 numbers. i think the only one that isnt listed is raid chat which is number 72 if i remember correctly.

to change the color you pick out which one you want to change and type /usercolor 72 240 240 240

if you can bring up options you can pick out whatever color you want and get the right numbers for the color

so if you want a different color it looks like /usercolor 72 103 0 230

thanks to my guildmate for telling me about this when i wanted to change raid chat and it wasnt in options.
