I can't find an answer to this question anywhere else, so I'll just ask here.
How do you start the two ring events on the third floor? EQ2maps says that you only have to set foot on the "lower platform" to start it, but I've run all over the entire room including up the spiral in the middle and can't get it to work.
I'm moloing (47 bruiser w/shadowknight merc) - does it maybe need a group of actual human players to start?

ok i found out that each time i com into the zone, i have to kill the shadow of the labyrinth and the keeper. i didn't know that. i had no problem going in and out of the floors before but this time i had to kill those two all over again to have access,

Ah! Glad you figured it out, it had been a while since I have done this zone and I forgot all about that. =)
when i got to the third quest, doors on the second level that had opened easily for me before were suddenly locked tight. the levers refused to work. now what? how can i get to the vestibule if the doors won't open??

Kill all shadowed creature around the entrance, a portal will pop, just click it to enter.
I've done this on a low end and a high end machine and the portal is quite visible if you tweak the performance settings on a low end machine. Mousing around blindly is not necessary. ;)

I shouldn't tell anyone this, because it's my favorite zone and this will probably contribute to overcrowding it, but...I run on several different computers and what I have found is that the purple mist only shows up with certain graphics settings (usually the higher quality ones.) Whether this means that SOE has created a zone that prefers the more hoity-toity of customer or not is debatable, but what I do know is that if you mouse around enough you will find a little pop up box that says "Obelisk of Lost Souls" quite soon after you kill the watchers. Click on it and you're in.

I've been told that you need to kill the guards that watch over the entrance to the Obelisk before it will appear and allow entrance. Rift Watcher type Shadowed Men are the guards. I've killed many of this type of Shadowed Man and never seen the entrance appear.
I was hunting with my friend and he saw the entrance appear after we killed the keepers. He even zoned into the Obelisk right in front of my eyes. I couldn't see the portal for some reason.

The entrance to this zone moves around norrath. I believe it moves once every 30 minutes but I could be wrong. I don't have the locations for where the entrance spawns in each zone but if someone wants to post those I'll update the zone desc! :)
