Lendel Deeppockets says 'Its nice to meet you Makkinry. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Lendel Deeppockets master Assassin of Rivervale. I am personally in charge of all [training] we have the new recruits go through before they are sent out on specific missions. ' You say, 'What training' Lendel Deeppockets says 'There are many steps that young rouges must take on the road to stealth. The most important part of your training is learning how to use the tools around you such as the forge. From the looks of you I can tell you could use some more [enchanted armor] as well so I think this would be a good learning experience. ' You say, 'What enchanted armor' Lendel Deeppockets says 'I am pleased to hear that you are interested in making your own armor Makkinry. I have some instructions for you so please listen closely. First, I will present you with your Dusty Mail Assembly kit when you are ready. After that, simply tell me what piece of Slickfinger Chainmail you [want] to craft and I will give you a pattern along with a recipe for [Coifs], [Bracers], [Sleeves], [Boots], [Legplates], [Gloves] and [Tunics]. The recipe I will give you for specific items will need to me combined in the assembly kit to create the magical material necessary. Once you have this material and pattern that I gave you when you told me what item you wanted to craft, put both in the nearest forge to create the armor piece you asked for. Here is your Dusty Mail Assembly Kit. ' You say, 'I want to craft the coif' Lendel Deeppockets says 'Protecting the ole noggin is probably the smartest move you will make young Makkinry. Here is your pattern, once you have combined 2 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 2 Ruined Thorn Drakeling Scales and 1 Carrot in your kit place it in a forge along with this pattern to create your Slickfinger Chainmail Coif. Your not thinking like a halfling. The carrot is to eat while your working on the armor. You can become a might peckish working the fordge.

Lemme make sure I understand the quest fine... We combine the items in the kit without the pattern, then put the metal in the forge with the pattern... I got all the items fine, but they won't combine in the kit. I met an other hobbit rogue, she did the same thing and it worked... She's level 8, I'm level 7, is that the reason?

ok i got the slickfinger enchanted coif and the pattern i stick it in the forge together and combine and it says the forge did not accept the combination try antoher forge... is there more then 1 forge in rivervale.. or am i missing something maybe a smith hammer?

Well yes, there is 2 forges. a regular one right next to the druid GM, and the VALE forge, next to the inn... The Vale Forge is for cultural smithing only

I believe I have seen a carrot on a vendor in PoK, but it is also purchasable from one of the outside vendors at the druid guild, and I believe also in Shar Val, but I could be wrong.

Kinda makes me mad.
Halflings have -great- stats for a Rogue, as opposed to Human, Wood elf and Dark elves.
They gain experience faster than most. Start off with great hide and sneak skill levels. Have a nice starting location, and great over-all faction with other races.
Hell, Halfling Rogues are actually respected in their towns.
So, let's give them the best looking armor, with the best stats. That's not enough, so let's give them the best weapon too. What the hell, let's NOT give the races with 'lame' stats, and 'lame faction' quest armor, just to make it "fair!"
Hell, while we're at it, let's make the human quest armor ten times harder to 'obtain' -- isn't like anyone plays human rogues anyways, so what the hell, let's discourage them from it even more.
God, I love how the Coalition Trader armor looks. Hell, normal leather looks better. There's leather, then there's "Coalition Trader" armor -- looks like it's covered in Cow Manure.
You get more stats from one piece of Slick-Smacker armor, than you do from a whole suit of "Coalition Trader" armor.
It's okay, though. Half Elves get a 'l33t' 3/21 dagger, that they can't use. Because they can't worship Innoruuk -- Does Verant intentionally try to **** us off, or what?

I've tried several different combinations such as:
"I want to craft the coif"
"I want to craft coifs"
"I want to make the coif"
etc etc
but I never get the pattern. Any ideas?

hehe. yeah, I tried the ' I want to craft coif' message and got it (I haven't checked this thread since posting the original). Well, several months later I'm lvl 47 and all of my newbie armor is long good. I had most of it until my late 20s and low 30s.
