For an overview, schedule, and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry. This is an anniversary shared task (1-6 players) introduced with EverQuest's 16th anniversary. It begins by picking up a "Flaming Sword of War" at the entrance stone to the Plane of War, in the Plane of Tranquility. This task acts as a heroic adventure. Mob levels inside the instanced zone will vary according to the highest level player presently in the zone. Pre-Requisites for Requesting: - Level 75 A flaming sword has appeared near the portal to the Plane of War. Etched into the blade is a message, apparently from the weapon's creator, Buzoan, a minotaur elder. You should seek him out within the Plane of War. Once you have the task, click on the normal Plane of War portal stone to zone into the instanced zone. Note: In this instanced zone, there are no locked areas. Deliver the Flaming Sword of War to Buzoan the Elder 0/1 (Plane of War) Task Window Says: Buzoan's message beckons you to seek him out in Castle Tamrel, in the Plane of War. Deliver the sword you found in the Plane of Tranquility to him. Buzoan the Elder is found in the second-to-northeasternmost room of Castle Tamrel's main floor (this is the east castle from the Field of Strife). Either give him the sword, or say "get out" to update the task. Buzoan the Elder says 'Quiet, mortal! They'll hear you! Oh, you must have discovered the sword! We must be wary of who's listening, if some here were to discover I've been [seeking] help outside the Plane of War, It would be my head on a pike for sure! The portal between War and Tranquility is beginning to weaken, and may soon fail. Were the realms of War and Tranquility to collide, it could tear asunder the the planes themselves, with unknown consequences for Norrath! If you don't feel up to this, and want to leave, just say the word and I'll send you to the [exit].' You say, 'What are you seeking?' Buzoan the Elder says 'Shhhh! You really must keep your voice down. I am surprised some don't already know. They're probably plotting to get rid of me already! I must [get out] of here so I can close the portal, and prevent War from spilling out into the other planes.' You say, 'How can you get out?' Buzoan the Elder says 'Gather a suit or armor for me, would you? I doubt I would survive any engagement with nothing to protect me but my hide! Most all of the mindless brutes around here should have something I can wear. Collect the pieces I require, and return to me, and we can get out of here!' Skeletons at the zone in have been reported to drop all of the Rallosian armor pieces below. Find a Rallosian breastplate for Buzoan to wear 0/1 (Plane of War) Find a set of Rallosian arm plates for Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Retrieve a pair of Rallosian boots for Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Find a pair of Rallosian greaves for Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Retrieve a set of Rallosian bracers for Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Find a pair of Rallosian gauntlets for Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Task Window Says: Buzoan wants to escape to Tranquility, and close the portal to the Plane of War, but is fearful of trying to escape. You should collect a suit of armor for him to wear during the escape. The above six items drop from random mobs in the Field of Strife (southern half of the zone). It is not confirmed whether they can drop in the northern half. They are confirmed from ogres, orcs, goblins, kobolds, minotaurs, and boars, and it appears that any mob type can drop all six items (random). Drops are not confirmed from ravagers. NOTE: Mobs here have the same abilities as they do in the non-instanced version of the Plane of War. This means some will be much harder than others. Of particular note are berserkers, furies, and reavers which tend to hit for a max ~24,000 (or higher). If you fight a berserker or fury, watch out for their cast of "Counterattack" which ripostes all incoming attacks for a period of time. The easiest mobs in the zone are probably the boars. Enchanter mobs haste, mana drain, and charm; healer types have strong heals and mitigation buffs; warders cast damage shields; minotaurs proc a feign death on people; reavers cast a hate's attraction spell (pull-to-caster) (this is not an exhaustive list of abilities). Dispells are quite helpful here, as most mobs will be buffed with damage shields, attack increases, haste, and so forth. Mob population DOES respawn. Speak to Buzoan and tell him you've found the armor he needs 0/1 (Plane of War) You say, 'Hail, Buzoan the Elder' Buzoan the Elder says 'This armor is a bit beat up. Hopefully it will give me more protection than its previous owner, but I still don't think I can make it out of here just yet. If you could brew up some of my family's special ale, then maybe I'd take the chance. Do you think you can do that for me?' Everyone receives "Recipe for Boastful Bellyfire Ale" and a "Brewing Barrel" (10-slot container). The recipe reads: Secret!! Tell No One!! Combine the following in a brewing barrel. 3 Spiced barley 3 Rallosian hops Flask of Fire Water For best flavor, let the brew age for 1 week. Secret!! Tell No One!! Brew a batch of Boastful Bellyfire Ale 0/1 (Plane of War) Task Window Says: Though he has his armor, Buzoan is still fearful of leaving. A mug of powerful Boastful Bellyfire Ale should give him the courage he needs to make his way to Tranquility. Find the ingredients and brew up a batch! "Spiced Barley" (need three) is found as ground spawns throughout the southeastern part of the Field of Strife. "Rallosian Hops" (need three) are found along the far western wall of the Field of Strife (northwestern part of the zone). "Flask of Fire Water" (need one) is found as ground spawns on the second floor of Castle Tamrel (head up the stairs in Buzoan's room - flasks are in the south-center room of the second floor). They may be found elsewhere, but further locations are unknown (if any). Combine the seven items in the "Brew Barrel". Deliver the Boastful Bellyfire Ale to Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Task Window Says: Deliver the Boastful Bellyfire Ale to Buzoan. Do it quickly! This stuff smells awful! TASK LOCKS HERE Buzoan the Elder drinks the ale, rears back his head and roars, 'Ahhhh.. I can feel the ale working already. I feel like I can take on Rallos himself! If you're ready to [leave], we should make a run for it before the ale wears off! If you need me to [stop] for any reason, just say so. Tell Buzoan it's time to make your escape 0/1 (Plane of War) You say, 'Hail, Buzoan the Elder' Buzoan the Elder says 'Ready to [leave] when you are. Just let me know when you're ready.' You say, 'Let's leave...' Buzoan the Elder says 'Follow me. I'll lead the way! If there is danger nearby, you can tell me to [stop] until it's clear, but we should [move] forward as quickly as safely possible. If you don't feel up to this, and want to leave, just say the word and I'll send you to the [exit].' Say "stop", and he'll stop in his tracks... Say "move" (and "go", as he'll sometimes listen to instead), and he'll move along again... "Exit" will zone you out. Buzoan the Elder says 'I'll lead the way. Let's go! If you don't feel up to this, and want to leave, just say the word and I'll send you to the [exit].' Protect Buzoan as you escort him out of the Plane of War 0/1 (Plane of War) You'll need to escort him to the zone-in. Standard mob population does not aggro him; however, you will have a few ambushes to deal with along the way. Tell him to "move", "go", and "stop" as needed. First, he'll make his way out of Castle Tamrel. At its entrance, he'll be ambushed by 2x "a Tamrelian soldier". He'll then make his way through the Field of Strife until he is ambushed at its gate by 3x "a Hendin ambusher". Then, he'll proceed into the north field and be ambushed by 3x "a Gurrak ambusher". He can survive these ambushes for some time on his own, but he'll need help. Buzoan can be healed and buffed with single-target player spells. He can die so keep him healed or let him regen in between pulls. The ambush mobs tend to hit for a max ~15,500. Susceptibility to crowd control is not confirmed. All ambushers except for the Gurraks (orcs) cast standard warrior abilities for the zone (Quick Defense; Boisterousness; Bladewheel). The Gurraks have a large spell table (this list may sound more threatening than they actually are): Arrowstorm: Targeted AE 60', Unresistable (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 47693 Bladewheel: PB AE 100', Unresistable (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 46154 Boisterousness: Targeted AE 60', (-900) 1: Increase Spell/Bash Hate by 100% 3: Increase Agro Multiplier by 30% 4: Negate Agro Multiplier Effect 5: Negate Spell/Bash Hate Effect Gale of Venin: NPC Hatelist 600', Poison (-950) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 17693 per tick Malosinizekia: NPC Hatelist 600', Unresistable (0) 1: Increase Incoming Spell Damage by 100% 2: Decrease Corruption Resist by 450 3: Increase Corruption counter by 40 4: Decrease All Resists by 900 Narikor's Drowse: NPC Hatelist 600', Magic (-950) 1: Decrease Spell Haste by 35% 2: Limit: Spell Type (Detrimental only) 3: Inhibit Melee Attacks by (40%) 4: Increase Disease Counter by 30 Narikor's Restoration: Single Target, Unresistable (0) 1: Increase Hitpoints by 10000 2: Increase Hitpoints by 1000000 (10% max) Quick Defense: Self 0', Unresistable (0) 1: Increase Chance to Resist Spell by 80% 2: Mitigate Melee Damage by 90%, 0 total Shieldbreak: Single Target, (-900) 1: Negate AC Limit Modifier Effect 2: Negate Melee Mitigation Effect 3: Negate Chance to Avoid Melee Effect Vicious Snare: Single Target, Magic (-950) 1: Decrease Movement by 65% 2: Negate Base Run Modifier Effect 3: Trigger Effect: Vicious Snare on Fade At the zone-in, you'll encounter "Subcommander Gordash". He also casts standard warrior-type spells for the zone (Quick Defense; Boisterousness; Bladewheel; and a 2-tick stun). Speak to Buzoan 0/1 (Plane of War) Rewards: 600 platinum Experience 7x "Commemorative Coin" Bonus Item: Golden Helm of Rallos Zek Awarded to a random player in the group who does NOT possess the helm already after the group has killed 74 creatures. This depends on which creatures you are killing. The following NPC's counts as 1 towards 74 per kill, skellies near zoneline ogres near zoneline giants near zoneline orcs near zoneline Basically it looks like anything near the zoneline. A red overlay text: "Bonus Objective: The Helm of Rallos Zek has been awarded to [Character]" will appear when the helm has been awarded to a player. Prathun Developer posted that The function that grabs the list of the PCs in the zone does not grab mercenaries. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
