Razor-sharp Obsidian Blade"Soloed" him tonight on Quellious with my 77 rogue and my cleric merc. He killed a buddy of mine and was guarding his corpse, so I dragged his bod to safety and went back for revenge.
He must have run 7 or so, but I managed to target him from the hillside, then I applied a 1-shot poison to my darkened serrated bone dirk, and burned infusion of the faithful, and intensity of the resolute from a distance. I snuck up to him, (which wasn't easy due to his run speed) and went to work. I backstabbed him, and the poison proced for 20k, then I hit escape immediately. Snuck back out of range, reapplied a 1-shot, and hid again. I crept back up to him, and hit him for another 20k, and then turned on rogues fury and counterattack disc. He lived through that, but not my assassin's disc which followed. I'm not sure if he eventually stops, but he didn't do any shadow stepping with me once he was at 40% (i.e. when I started fighting him "fair and square"). I picked up a few of his buddies who wandered by, but they were easily dispatched. Love that new poison system.
I forgot to parse, but I'd estimate that he has between 80k~100k HP, the fight lasted about 90 seconds, and I think his max hit on me (2364 AC unbuffed) was about 1200. Killing the adds pushed the fight data off the top of my chat box. Hope this helps.

Ranged Attack: Fires several arrows that hit in the hundreds (silk at 1500ish AC,max def) and proc blind,snare - if sth else I forgot.
Will always stay in quite some distance to you so dot/nuke him to death and be sure to have area clean so you get no adds.
Casts a "forget aggro" type spell/proc so may ping pong around from player to player.

I suspect that the PH is the spawn just outside the front of the hut closest to the north west corner, or it may be he can spawn anywhere (other gnolls have fixed PH spawn however).
He's pretty rare, didn't see him at all one day killing that spawn regularly for several hours, then once the next day.

Not sure if he was stuck or if this was how he is supposed to work....
If you try to melee him he will constantly run away and train you while shooting you with his special effect arrows. The secret is not to approach him. Once you agro him, try to get him to chase you to a vacant location ( so his agro doesn't social agro others ) then stand there and let him shoot you. His ranged DPS is horrible ( well I did slow him so that might have made a difference ). I easily nuked him down as an enchanter solo. Even his HPs seemed weak compared to other trash there. He is just 'wierd' and difficult if you don't know how to deal with him.
Confirmed he doesn't drop jack. Just enjoy some easy xp when he spawns.

Range fight him or else he'll blind you and run off getting you adds. But in the end he's not worth the effort, he dropped usual gnoll crap - bow, arrows, steppes ore, periodot and darkfell fang - no good stuff

But he has special bow shots (negative effects) that blind you, snare you, etc etc....I remember having at least 3 and I think 4 effects on me at one time...I think it was 3 when I could see...meaning he has 4....He won't come up and melee, when you go out to him, he shadowsteps away and just keeps throwing arrows at you.

I was killing the gnolls when this guy spawned. I snared him, but he just stood at the bottom of the hill and shot at me. As noted, he blinds, snares, and slows all with different bow shots. Fortunately, I had my Steadfast Servant up and he kept me alive while I dotted and shot (in slow motion) Gruet.
Long fight, only one add, but he dropped a diamond, and the bow and arrow that all the gnoll rangers drop.

This mob is a PITA. I was just passing through the zone one day and saw him so figured I'd stop and kill him real quick and move on. Gruet is a dark blue (to a level 75) Gnoll spawns and roams in with the other gnolls close to the Icefall zone line. Only problem is it is a Ranger mob. (Now I know how it feels to be bow kited.) Mob will not pull closer than bow range, I couldn't get him to actually follow me up the hill to the zone line to safely kill...he sat down with all the other gnolls and threw arrows at me. Would not close in even when I got out of his line of sight. His arrows have several different effects including snare and blind (wish I had that AA). After I killed off the other gnolls that assisted him I went down to melee him down. That didn't work too well either. He cannot be snared/rooted. As soon as I closed on him he ran to max bow range and started shooting at me again. Of course where he ran had a bunch of other gnolls that agroed and started after me. At this point I figured it wasn't worth the time and effort and zoned agro.
Needless to say this guy is a pita and needs to be range fought down or have someone pull really good agro on him and then bring the melees in to chop him up while the person with agro stands back and plays pincushion.
