Duoed him with a merc J5 cleric ( I am a 91 ranger 74k 6.8kac). I just bow tagged him and pulled him single to the hollow log..wolves did not spawn until he was clear of the valley opening, NOR did they follow him to the log . Kill was fairly easy at my level. His spirit wolves continued to spawn during the encounter, 2 at a time (verified on extended target window). By the time the fight was over I tracked 42 (yes, 42!!) spirit wolves up. The wolves did NOT de-spawn after Vertekin's death. This is without a doubt the easiest way to kill this raid mob. I didn't get a single spirit wolf add by fighting him in the hollow log near the valley opening.

Dropped the cloak ( http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=47971) and Eternal Grove Chain Feet Ornament (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=104455). His silence spell (Call of the Ancients) was recast about every 30-45 seconds. Highest hit on me was 3354, although I suspect it's probably in the mid 4k range tops. Good luck!

P.S...Logged on a few hours later and killed him again..same strat..this time he summoned 50 more wolves..all of which stayed up after he was killed, bringing the active total in zone atm to 92 spirit wolves..stacked in four stack around his spawn point. I hate it for anyone who wanders in that camp..invised or not..the spirit wolves do see invis. Not sure if they will de-spawn eventually or not..Dropped the cloak again and Eternal Grove Plate Hands Ornament..sighs..wanted his augment for my girl's ranger..guess I'll have to kill him again lol..He's going to have to invest in Purina with all the dogs he's gonna have to feed lmao.

Dowd him tonight, was pretty easy once we got him on his own, RL had been playing with him earlier and so his adds were still up, took a 4 monk crew to split and pull him single to ZI, After tht, was cake.

Tried it twice last night. Keeping MT up on named was easy. The ae wasn't so bad.

But the 6 wolves that spawned both times pwned us. They couldnt be snared. Plus one of the AE's snares everyone. So kiting them like vish drakes isnt an option.

so what do you do with the wolf adds cause they hit hard also.. really cant OT them too well when healers are trying to heal the MT and keep him up. especially since 6 wolves popped and not 2 like was posted earlier.

6 wolves poped both tries I made last night. And promptly owned us both times. They pop right after you aggro, then proceed to Gang gank the first fewl cleric that tries to heal MT.

The wolves arent snareable or rootable.

any adds here and were the spells resisted with iof? the por mobs seem to all get around that and make their spells land even with resists over 500.

For new MOBs, someone really ought to just sit down to get hit for the true max with a rezzer standing by. You know, a test subject. :P

(Damage = BaseDamage + AdditionalDamage(AC_Armor)). (I'm unaware of the AdditionalDamage equation, just that it's based off the Armor portion of the AC. Higher AC in this way helps to reduce this part of the damage. The minimum hit is often a good way of showing what the BaseDamage is.)

Here's the mob melee damage formula:

Damage = Damage Bonus + (1-20 X Damage Interval)

The 1-20 is a random number that is positively influenced by mob atk and negatively influenced by AC. ((I.E. the higher your AC, the lower on the 1-20 scale the number will come out to be, and thus the creature will hit toward the lower part of it's hit scale.

Do not be fooled, this thing can pop assloads of wolves. we had 17 last attempt, it looks like keeping aggro inside the totems decreases the amt of adds? Confirmed they hit 3k, the silence isnt that bad really if you are properly geared. 12 seconds. His cold based ae does 2.2 and the silence itself is 1.2. So you take 3.4 and cant get a heal for 12 seconds, not that bad. The problem is the wolves, we tried most tactics. Anyone have any info from other encounters?
