I got one of these in the event... I haven't triggered it yet, since I was warned not to, but if it does indeed use a small portal fragment surely that would indicate that this is a translocate, and not a gate?
Incidentally, I'm a druid, so they did go to non-wizards... I was just one of the first 4 people at the spires that made an attempt to roleplay, without going over the top or trying to ***** up the event (as so many people did by the time Al'Kabor arrived at the Combine spires).
I'm not whining its a real nice item I'm real happy for the people that got it, and BTW portal fragments are what wizards use for their translocate spells, seen em in vendors :D but I had read about this and wish I didnt have to be at school so i coulda helped out at the event hehe
I'll try to answer your questions as well as I can, but I ,may be wrong.
1. I'm pretty sure an artifact is an item that there is one per server.
2. I couldnt tell you for sure, but I think that there are other ways, this is just a faster one. Well have to wait for the expansion, Tuesday!, for that.
I did the freakin Al'kabor thing to help the little gnome port to Lucin...all I got was a worthless Zavo's Stud of Mortality. 40hp 5sv fire magic. Why didnt I recieve a nexus...
Al'Kabor is a wizard. My friend has this. He and 2 other wizards had to dispell a swarm off this warrior for about 5 min straight. I'm guessin this is only gunna be given out to wizards (my friend is a wizard) since last time Al'Kabor had a quest he targeted wizards too.
Now before you start ******* about unbalance or favoritism wizards are already screwed over enough IMO so don't even start
Surprise - I got one, and I'm a Ranger. No more begging Druids for ports, thank Tunare... The 15 minute wait to get back to Norrath is a pain in the quiver, tho...

I also participated in this experiment with Al'kabor and Ognit. I was the warrior that was dispelled for 5 minutes. I recieved this item and my jaw hit the ground. I really did have to work at getting involved. Ognit asked alot of questions about Al'Kabors research and it seemed those people who answered them right and those who made good observations were the ones selected to help. Fortuanatly for me I had read from Al'Kabors journel and was prepared. The overtone of the whole experiment was about the gates and though it was never said directly said, all four of use that recieved the Propylon feel that it will gate us to a zone called Nexus in Luclin. I'm drooling to find out :)
I feel I was given this based on my quick reaction since within a couple minutes of seeing some wierd stuff happen and hearing a wizard yelling about loseing his spellbook, a wizard group with me named Jaxxem (of the Nexus now) gating us right over to the spires. Ognit was there asking questions and of the many MANY people that showed up he selected those that were intelligently talking to him about the experiments. Generally wizards are going to be more familar with them so 3 wizards and myself we selected. Most of the people we confused and asking questions or begging for free stuff.
All and all I had a blast. I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for other events.
How can you make a post saying I doubt any melee will see this when I have clearly stated I received one and I am a bard ? Do you people just read the stats and go into ******* overdrive because if you calmed your little heads and read the posts all your questions are most likely already awnsered. Yes its a lovely item, no-one knows for sure what the effect will be, and no its no unbalancing or overpowering as only 2-4 players per server have one. Is that unfair ? No more unfair than attending 30+ Naggy raids and missing on a CoF everytime. Is it unbalancing ? No because as I said only 2-4 people per server have one. Swallow your jealousy and just be happy for those lucky people who managed to obtain one.

You all have very good points for Example Kalladar said we arent even sure if this is a gate to the nexus all very good points, i do admit my comments where pre-mature and i realize my comments where "whining". and i apologize for them.

1) Its not even certain there will be a gate to the Nexus 2) Its not even certain if you will have to wait at the spires 3) Quityerbitchin, Jealousy=bad
seriously, Luclin isn't out yet and already you're complaining about overpowering... you're worse than the people complaining about horses being too powerful for casters... You don't know what Luclin's gonna be like, you're gonna have to wait for the spires like everyone else who waited for the boat to Kunark, and wizzies/druids are probably gonna get ports there eventually anyway...

hey bud, "IMHO" if anyone in the game could get this uber item then it would cheepin the game, besides if only 2 people in the game have them, then why should it matter to the common player they will never even see the item, it's as if the item doesn't even exist.
True power can be found in the shadows... with a flashlight. Muahahahhaha
I was lucky enough to be awarded one of these last night from Al'Kabor himself. The quest involved helping a gnome called Ognit Eznertob to create a portal to rescue Al'Kabor from a place called The Nexus. Although when he turned up he seemed displeased by this he was still good enough to reward the four of us with the Amulet and granted us each a title.

...from what I've heard...I'd guess that the effect will be a self gate to "The Nexus" on Luclin. One of my guild members recieved this item, and Al'Kabor told them not to use it "until it was safe". I bet the item will be updated with an effect once SoL is out. (Which will be soon--Yay!)
Check everlore, good story that close there. As far as the Propylon goes, it needs a component to cast. I understand there is something called a fragmented portal piece used by Wiz to do their gates. Any ideas?
This item does cast a spell. We were warned a few times by Al Kabor. Do NOT us the Propylon unless you are ready to travel. I have not gotten enough courage (in the form of a gate potion, I'm a warrior) to actually let the spell complete. When I get a gate potion I will let it wisk me away and post here what happens :)
Because unless you are a tester for Luclin, you don't have the Nexus zone loaded on your system yet. Basically this will allow these guys to gate on over to Luclin whenever they wish instead of having to wait like the rest of us until the wizard spires periodically activate. (Although I guess wizards and druids will probably get port spells also.)
