Actually Embershank by itself is .656 ratio. WITH a 3 dmg aug (Etched Obsidian Shard) it would be 35/21 which is .60 ratio (pretty damn good) HOWEVER, a rogue that is raiding in TSS in these encounters more then likely has DoDH completed progression, which means if they were a wise rogue They would have the 2.0 at 27/19, PLUS hopefully the slot 4 1 dmg aug from frostcrypt (28/19) and then lets say an Etched Obsidian Shard in slot 8 as well making it 31/19. Now then because this so called rogue is past DoDH progression and has his demi title and his 2.5 aug (thats 1 more dmg) it would be 32/19 which is a .594 ratio.

In conclusion... a rogue at this point in the game to get an Embershank more then likely has some past progression and means that the 2.0 can still out dps the Embershank.

As a rogue myself just in a guild that is about to master the demi plane, I plan on my 2.0 looking as such, and would much rather have it than the embershank.

Embershank is a good piercer for those rogues who maybe missed out on the whole DoDH progression, or joined a guild that is no longer doing it or cant complete.

Now as far as the Backstab ability being most of our DPS, sure the embershank has it beat because of the 3 + dmg more then the 2.0 (fully auged to max) when looking at it from the surface, but 2.0 also adds 15 BS dmg (mot much but still) and plus it has its deciever's blight effect (which I know you could always bandolier it and click it and switch out) but come on.

If you added Nightshade Shard of the Ancients(+4dmg aug slot:30), Verdant Emerald of Wounding (+1dmg aug slot:4), and Mossy Tundra Stone(+4dmg aug slot:8) to the Rogue 2.0 you'll get 36/19. Which is better than adding the slot:8 aug(Mossy Tundra Stone) to the Embershank, the Malady and making it 36/21.

I'm wondering where you are getting that Nightshade Shard of the Ancients is +4 dmg? Looks to me like it's +1 dmg.

Mossy Tundra Stone isn't able to be added to piercers, now, either.

So, Nightshade getting aug'd to 36/19 can't happen currently.

I don't know much about rogues but don't most their DPS come from their backstabs?

And wouldn't this make their total dmg increase compared to what you described (2.5 and aug'ed)?

You would bandolier it and still keep your epic equiped most the time. In no way would this "replace" a rogues 2.0 which is 2 years old.

Also for an offhand, if you can get this you would also get the 1hs from sothgar. Making this weapon barely worth it if at all.

Correction, there is not a 0 bs mod on this wep, its 12%. Hence making it 1 dmg better than (2.5). Not considering that if augged it would be 34 dmg 1 magic dmg...

For one, your looking at the wrong mod. I am talking Damage mod, not skill mod..... ALSO, the slot 8 augment means nothing since it fits in both epics and therefore is a meaningless point.

I disagree with your statement concerning the Rogue's 2.0, strongly. Granted, this weapon is better than the 2.0 in terms of DPS, but that doesn't mean it's going to replace it. In fact, the smart thing to do if you're a Rogue and obtain this weapon, and have your 2.0, is to move your 2.0 to the secondary slot and put this weapon in the primary slot.

Actually that isn't all that smart at all... DPS from nightshade is good in primary mainly because of backstab. In terms of raw melee DPS Nightshade is easily outdone by many other weapons eg Notched Blade od Bloodletting, Shademaul, etc etc.

I think your all wrong. For one, the epic is a horrible offhand. Two, none of you took into account the type 4 and 30 slots in the 2.0. Combining the augs aviable for the 2.0 and then comparing it to the Emershank and the overall gain is fairly small. You can not compare a bare 2.0 to this weapon because no Anguish rogue with only 2.0 and no FC 1 grp aug will be able to get this dagger. This is not an anguish level raid!

Rogue 2.0(+dp page) decked out excluding slot8 aug is 29+2ele / 19 . +15bs mod
Emershank is 32/21. +0bs mod

Grats rogues 1 dmg increase in maximum backstab and the replacement of the 2 elemental dmg. Also, reminded that we are hindered by the 2 delay on the emershank.

Ratio DECREASE from using Emershank over 2.0 is -0.002 without elemental landing.
Same thing WITH epic elemental landing.... -0.1 ratio.

Overall, the rogues get shafted on the ratio of the dagger decreasing our mainhand damage and slightly increase our overall backstab damage. Pretty horrible if you ask me compared to what other classes are getting. Our mediocre maybe upgrade.

Thanks sony for the great dagger itemization in TSS and the poor planning of the FC/2.5 page in our epic for comparison.

Ok, last I knew. There was a limit on weapon delays with haste....something like 1.0sec delay. Meaning no matter how much haste you have, you would not get better then 1.0 delay. If that is still true, then the emershank will out dps the 2.0 rogues epic. Lets face it, I would rather have a 34/10, then a 31/10 :). But the epic does have its epic effect! That is also a big increase in the DPS. hummmm. this is to had to think about...ok i will take one of each. Band them in and out for BS, and use 1hs and 1hb for normal attacks :) ya thats it :)

There is no cap to the minimum delay you can reach but only that you cannot parse anything under 10 delay thus making it there but not there.
