When dropped on the ground, they pulse red, rather than just being the default small bag. :)

anyone know if there are any quests that use these? or some of the other LDON dropprd stuff? like the gargoyle granite, or the broken fangs?>
Nope, but the Gargoyle Granites are used to make Granite Tempers, which are in turn used in the making of the Gothic Steel Armor sets. So sell them up in the Bazaar.
These are indeed useless not even worth saving to split even though they are stackable, sell for 1 silver each with good charisma or so.
