Focus effects and stacking ....

Focus effects will stack as long as they don't do the same thing. Regardless of the name of the effect, only the highest modifier will take effect. For example, if you have one focus effect that adds 15% damage to all DD spells and another than adds 30% damage to only cold DD spells, then when you cast a cold DD, you only get the 30% added, rather than 45%. If you cast a fire DD, you get 15% added.

If you have focus effects that add different effects, then they will work together. Like spell haste and mana preservation, etc. You will cast spells faster and save mana.

Much like worn haste, only the highest modifier will be taken into account when a spell is cast.
only thing to add

is that the comparision to haste is really good, because you can actually have different types of focus effects that will add:
Items and Buffs or Songs.

I can't say if buffs and songs would stack, because the only song I know is damage amplification, while the only buff I know is spell haste.

I can confirm that AA skill, spell buff and item focii stack. I can be using my summoned spell haste ring, have Blessing of Faith, cast a summoning spell and have a 35% reduction from all of the effects, 10% AA, 10% buff, 15% from summoned ring. On a non summoning spell I get a 25% reduction in casting time from the spell + the ring.

Stacking

How do the focus effects stack, or do any of them stack with each other?
#REDACTED, Posted: May 29 2003 at 6:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) #1 they only stack if they are named differently:

Sorry Dread but there is a cap to the max focus you can get from AA, item, spell buff, and song and the cap's 50%. A number of mages have posted on Magician's Tower that their highest crit with multiple focii is 5000 at level 65. The base damage for Firebolt of Tallon at 65 is 2000, a crit does double damage (with SCF3 and higher) so when you subtract 4000 from 5000 you're left with 1000. 1000 is 50% of 2000, so the max effect from multiple focii is 50% of max base damage for your current level.

Another example, a friend of mine is a chanter with both SCRM AA Skill and an EE3 item, yet her spells duration increase is still capped at 50% because SCRM is a 50% increase. So the EE3 item has no effect and can be swapped out for something else when something with better stats for that slot comes her way.

The same is true of spell haste, a magician with QS3 AA Skill and a SH3 item still summons things and pets with a 50% decrease in casting time if they swap out the SH3 item for something else.

See the pattern here, all focii are capped at 50% combined effect.

complete nonsense

Sorry to be that straight, but nothing in that post is correct at all.
You can have several types of focus effects stack, like Spell Haste and Improved Damage, but never two of the same type from items.

i dont think focus effect stack. the one with the most modifier on it will work and the other will not so say for example you have preservation of xego for 30 pct mp and another item with conservation of xego 35 pct mp the later item will work and the firts will not.

hard to belive that soe/vi will let you save 75 pct of a spells actual mana cost.

again the above is a example those are not the actual pct of mp for the focus.

30%+35%=65% not 75%
I'm a dumb warrior but even I know how to add. Go back to school,...... :-)
#REDACTED, Posted: May 29 2003 at 6:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) they appear to all be Ranged items, so in that case, none will stack because you can only have 1 equiped
