These used to be one of the great gravy loots when exping back in the PoP days. You might only see one a week but it was worth a Loooot of money. Completely by chance and some 5 or more years later I just discovered a great spot to farm them, which of course noone now wants to do. Head onto the ramping bridge that extends from the exit of of the first fort (guarded by the 2 charm birds) to the area with all the trash. You'll find about 8 magma golems, each of which seem to drop it at a higher that 50:50 rate (10 kills, 6 drops),
The drop rate on this item was changed at some point.
On Al`Kabor (split of PC code in late 2003) we still have the same abysmally low drop rate on these from any of the magma guardians or rocklords.

Humm, I found 12 of them on an npc vendor. Now i know why i never see them for sale in the bazaar.

Just to give you all a estimate of how much they are worth, I was able to sell this item at 12,000pp a piece. = )

Where in PoFire you get this crap?
Mind-numbingly rare off the magma golem models (ie a magma guardian). Considering the overall low quality of Fire armor for non-casters (most Tier 4 players do not want low hp gear, although the leather may find a home with druids), this drop is far, far too rare.
