Classes: The Paladin

Paladins - Icons of Virtue. The paladin combines the strength and battle prowess of a fighter with the healing and buffing of a cleric.

What is the best strategy for developing your paladin? Can a paladin be soloed, and if so, how? How should you play your paladin within a group? What skills should you concentrate on developing? What spells are most useful, and least useful? What armor and weapons should your paladin be seeking out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Paladin and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Pretty much everything needs to be replaced. THe only decent slots are your primary, secondary, range and chest slots.

Everything else, to put it bluntly, is something I wouldnt expect to see a lvl 10 wearing, let alone a lvl 57.

Well thanks for the bluntness, honestly. Where should I start? I mean the primary, secondary were given to me ages ago. Where the hell does one get all that plat to upgrade besides paying real money for it? All I have is 4k in bank

4K should be plenty of money to get upgrades from what you have now in the bazaar.

Lots of places to farm plat. Dulaks Harbor would be good at your lvl

Yep, that's some pretty rough gear you have there. Here's a couple of suggestions:

1. Look for the common cheap paladin only stuff in baz. Some upgrades to start with that are usually quite cheap and standard pally gear include: Benevolent Girdle, Dented Draconian Helm, Blade of Disruption

2. DoN crystals. At 57 you'll prolly have a tough time getting a DoN grp. But don't let that dissuade you - if you have a regular group you play with try some of the beginning DoN missions. Tag along with a bigger tank or heavy dps and you should be able to do the Grounding of the Drakes one, just take your time. Or save your cash to buy DoN crystals in baz. The plate armor at the DoN merchant would all be upgrades for you.

3. Do Monter Missions if you have DoD. You'll find many of the items that drop will be upgrades for you. Try to get groups together and do the different ones though, doing the same MM over and over again won't do you much good once you have the drops. And don't LIVE in the MMs, you'll miss out on character progression and learning how to play something you can't afford to do on a paladin. You can look up what drops where in this post: Monster Missions Master List

4. Keep leveling, hunting, and saving your cash. You should be able to get groups in PoV though avoid being the main tank - xp is good here and occasional spell parchments for your 60s spells. Ssra would be a good place to go as well, the scales sell for decent cash and many of your 50ish spells drop there. Dulak boats as mentioned already drop gems and pp. Crystal Caverns Geonids are good to kill for pp and gems too.

Whatever you do have fun and good luck!

Netos thank you for the reply. I knew I was hurting but not that bad! Please explain DoN crystals. What are they? How are they used? Like exp/ldon points? By the way what/where are the zones for DoN.

I know about the gems in dulak and also there are some cool drops of gems in dranik scar.

DoN crystals are earned when you complete DoN missions. There are good side (radiant crystals) and bad side (ebon crystals).

They are like Ldon points in that you can earn a variable amount for each mission that you complete. The amount you earn depends on the difficulty level of the mission and the levels of the members of your group. Unlike Ldon however, you can also buy them from other peeps. Once you have a few you can use them in the DoN camps to purchase gear, augments, weapons, spells.

You must have 3 people to get a mission, but I recommend you always take a full group. Also, the person requesting the mission must have the faction to do so. The higher faction you have the more missions you'll have to chose from. You can raise faction with either the Keepers of Norrath (good) or the Dark Reign (bad) by doing solo tasks.

Probably the best write-up on DoN is this one: Samanna.net

You will find both good and bad camps in Lavastorm. As well as the NPCs to speak with to start your faction work and to get missions.
