Researching epic, Has no one slowed?

I have a lvl 51 shaman and was helping my lvl 36 shaman friend do that part of the epic. Here is what I account. First off I tried to help him with my 51 bard. He had invis vs animals up and I have bard song invis. A killer shark agro'd us at the spawn point under water I charmed him and pulled him away and after a long fear kite underwater ended up dying. So I grabbed my shaman instead. At this point he gated back to the island camped to clear agro came back in and went out to the spot. Long story short. There were 4 regular sharks out there in the water and 3 killers. All 4 regular sharks didn't not see through invis or invis vs animals. 2 outta the 3 killers didn't see through invis or invis vs animals.

Ok im sorry to have to do this, but the strength of a shammy is mostly in thier slows. Has ANYONE tried to use this?????? I as of yet to hear 1 case where the shark engaged the shammy, the pet took aggro, then the shammy SLOWED. I have a lvl 57 bard, lvl 52 monk, lvl 52 shammy, lvl 52 druid. My shammy and monk are on 2 different accounts so i can 2 box with them all the time. I have done 2 boxing for hours in ME, KC, Velks, Crystaline Shardwurms in GD, DL, etc, etc. I have taken up to 5 Adds before between my monk and shammy without dying. ( Not in ME though.) In every situation, I lived, unless a extremely unforgiving train came my way. I always give my pet procing velium weapons. The Key to a shammies survial is the slows. That should ALWAYS be the FIRST thing being cast by a shammy unless another class has that role. After all mobs are slowed Shammy with regrowth can take dmg slowly and still have time to cast heals, Dot's, EB's, Etc etc...

Givin i havent done this epic gig yet, im reserching it as I speak, and I havent seen 1 person say they slowed the sharks. I will not cast EB on any of my 2 char. I will buy EB items for both to wear so it cant be dispelled. I could be wrong here, maybe being underwater makes it impossible to do slows, but i highly doubt this is true. Ill try this soon, 2 boxing with my monk so I can take multible mobs at one time.

I just finished this part of my epic with my 59 Shaman. Yes, they are slowable. In fact, I slowed him without resist and then sicced dog-dog on him. Had to heal the pet twice but took no damage myself. Didn't loot it, as I couldn't leave the spot without necessitating another run at this extremely boring part of the epic.

As part of the shaman epic you must do test of patience. When you folow ooglyn she leads you way out into the water to wait for some npc's. You will be wating at bottom and yes you can see ground and you cant leave spot or you could fail. You need some sort of gear or spell like enduring breath to do this for you will be underwater for over 30 min. DON'T go afk. During the time i was down there i was jumped by 3 killer sharks. Keep your pet up and buffed and they are cake. If your a low lvl have a friend come with you so you dont die. And remember its the test of Patience so the nps's will spawn.
about 2500 hit pts
# Mar 05 2003 at 8:17 PM Rating: Decent
I hit one of these for 500 pts damage and it took it down to four and a bit bars (eg. less than 1 bar). I don't think I can kill one even with full mana (being a cleric) w/o getting killed first.
ouch....

BS

Not quite true... my 17 necro was able to lifetap easily off a 47 mob with no resists. But the issue of using the 5 hp lifetap rods is BS too. The shark would regen faster than you could use your little lifetap rods.
Killer Sharks
# Mar 12 2002 at 2:25 AM Rating: Decent
Well speaking from experience of these sharks and this part of the Shaman epic quest I can tell you that 1) All the Killer Sharks I ran into could see me just fine with invis vs animals, and then just plain invis when I went to get my corpse on the bottom of the sea. 2) They do dispell your enduring breath and levitate and sow, and only once was I lucky and able to get a gate off. 3)I think they are over the stated level in the guide as they conned deep blue and yellow to me at lvl 45.

I was kind of mad as I had to repeat this part of the quest 4-5 times due to running from Killer Sharks, and the last time that I died I still managed to get the Broken Arrow from the Abe Knucklehead, but got spanked by JAWS as the Greater Spirit was spawning sigh....And the next thing I know I was floating along with the rest of them.. Take friends.. people who can mez, or kite them away..more the merrier.. this is hard alone..

Verymuch Satisfied

As a 52 Bard, these give so-so experience and decent loot. About 1 in 5 drops a gem/jewelry. Best so far has been a sapphire. Fear-Haste-Snare, takes about 4 minutes with Flameweaver and Centi LS. You do loose your stamina quickly though. I finally get some good out of my SS vams. Usually takes two casts to keep the stamina bar visible. (It goes without saying you need your SS Gauntlets or other EB item) Regular sharks seem to be the place holders, but not completely sure. If you are not a Bard, be careful! They will dispell your levitate and they are hard to out-swim. Needless to say, not a lot of competition for them.

Long story short. I think that if the killer is high enough he will see through invis or invis vs animals. RARE but he agrod the shaman invis vs animal and scowled to attack to the bard invis. So you might get lucky and have ones that dont. But it is possible cause I seen this twice that they can see through. I got mine by getting guild 57 chanter and 58 monk and we just killed everything in sight hehe.

I was on erudsxing waiting for a named kittycat to spawn (for the heros bracer quest) and this shark was beached, near by the docks. Conned him and he was red and INDIFFERENT to me. Looked in the zone and there was only myself and a lvl 8 mage in the zone.

Strange, as I thought that maybe this shark was charmed, but since there was noone in the zone that could do that, I really have no idea.

Anyways, I decided to see if I could nuke him and proceeded to waste all of my mana on him (193 int), had some ice and magic resist but basically no fire (hitting for full 250). I took him down to around half health (2200 dmg done by me, I counted). Was amazed at his huge HPs, casted harvest, medded for a minute and decided to have another go. I nuked him again for 250 and his health had regenned back upto 4/5ths health. *sigh*. A necro with a disease based dot would have been nice heh.

I camped after that.

The mob was in a "not engaged" feeling : It's when they think that nobody attacked them or when they are memory-blured. In this state of mind, they can't fight you back, but they have an incredible health recovery, making them even harder to kill.

32 druid here. I was wandering around with lev on and this guy came up on track. Seeing as he was red, I invised (inv to anim) and tracked him down. Needless to say, lev wore off before I reached him. I swam the rest of the way, only for him to aggro... and 450 damage later I decided this was bad... 300 damage after that, this druid was toast. =P
See Thru Invis to Animals?

I am a 40 Shaman on the CT Server and want to get the Test of Patience Part of my EPIC done. Does anyone know if the Killer Sharks can see thru Invis To Animals? Please only people with a direct experience with regards to this question post.

Oh yes they do, or I should say some do. I was just there, swam to one and conned indiff. I went out to find my corpse, and was aggroed. Not only that, he dispelled everything I had. Made it back with 64 life.

No thy can not see through invis to animals. I had to use this method to get the rod for my staff of the wheel quest.

If you look at the doll under the Known loot, you might notice the average price is a bit high. Is that a joke? I'm pretty sure it was, but I'm asking just to be on the safe side.

was wanting to go here with a shaman friend of the same lvl (both 58) and just dot and run. Not sure if they get as high as 45 but if they do they still will give exp. Sounds like nobody hunts here.
Two things
# Apr 30 2001 at 7:23 AM Rating: Default
Three important things:
-This shark definitely sees though invis, I lost level 46 as proof of this.
-It will dispell all the spells you count on to stay alive out there(SoW, enduring breath, etc.) and send you to a quick brutal death on the ocean floor.
-It hits so fast and so hard you won't be able to get a spell off before you die.
To the shamen, good luck and bring friends. To other folks, I really wouldn't bother.
Shaman Test of Patience
# Oct 11 2000 at 1:57 PM Rating: Excellent
For shaman working on their epic quest these sharks can be something of a concern. The Test of Patience has you sitting at the bottom of Erud's Crossing for about 40 minutes. During that time its very likely on or more of these will swim into aggro range of you. I would recommend that if you try this solo to be at least 49th level. You'd need envenomed bolt and the frenzied spirit. I would equate the Killer Sharks to underwater versions of hill giants. They've a lot of hit points and hit hard and fast. At level 45 I did this part of the quest with assistance from a 45 ranger and a 39 druid. Good luck..(the Shield of Falsehood looks cool by the way)
The Rod and the Sharks
# Aug 05 2000 at 8:07 AM Rating: Decent
From personal experience, I do know that not all these sharks see invis. I was invis (just normal) and swam down for my rod without seeing a single one. Picked up my rod, turned around, and was staring one of these guys in the face. Looks like a hammerhead. Anyhow, conned him and it said ready to attack, but it didn't. However, I have seen other wizards try this and get ripped to shreds before they even knew what was there. So it's really luck of the draw. Far as I can tell, there's no way to tell if the current shark in the way can see through invis or not until it's too late. But not all of them do. (Perhaps only the higher level ones do? I was level 20 doing this, so they all conned blood red to me)
RE: The Rod and the Sharks
# May 31 2001 at 1:21 PM Rating: Decent
I know Mobs sometimes just don't notice you're there right. Scowling and red, they might just walk by a fight they would join in on any other time, or stand and leave you alone long enough to back away when you turn and corner and there they are. Could be an effect of packet loss, could be an intended effect of the mob's AI. Regardless, I'm sure if they're conning anything but indifferent, the invis effect isn't working on them.
RE: The Rod and the Sharks
# Aug 28 2000 at 12:37 PM Rating: Default
These sharks are all lvl 45 and there is 4 of them that guard the rod trust me me and 3 others died 3 times before we figured out that regular old invis works jsut hope it doesn't wear off cuz you won't make the surface

Warning!

Picking something up (like this Rod) breaks Invisibility!
RE: The Rod and the Sharks
# Oct 17 2001 at 10:00 AM Rating: Default
rest easier, this is not true, LOOTING something breaks invis, PICKING something up does not. The wizard rods are not considered looting, neither is anything else left on the ground. Your invis will stay on til its duration.
It wouldnt...

If your corpse is too far below you you can't /corpse it to you.. and corpses sink in the water. I dont think you can levitate over the water, anyway
RE: It wouldnt...
# Nov 03 2000 at 2:03 PM Rating: Default
It would. the /corpse command DOES NOT care about Z-axis (height) and you CAN levitate over the water. Take it from a man who gets paid to do the nasty ocean corpse retrivals.
