I just kept killing any type of panda, when I saw no pandas on track I killed whatever I saw. He popped within a day.

Was killing a Panda cub, just west off the city in SBM. And he walked right though the Panda I was killing... He did not assist, did not aggro. Phew, got lucky there...

Hits pretty hard but then at 45th (ish) I guess you'd expect him to. I think highest hit was 117 on my 47th Ranger. Attack can be slowed but is immune to snare and root. Uses low end druid spells so my guess is he is a Ranger, Snares, Roots, Stinging swarm and some DD's. Tried to take him out with 47 Ranger and 40 Shaman, had lots of trouble...ended up kiting him across SB (which isn't always safe when the mob you are kiting can snare and root you) but eventually brought him down. Second time had 55 Druid so no such problems.
He is easy to out run, doesn't seem to SoW himself, and will just stand there when you are out of range then run off elsewhere if you don't re-engage.
I would have thought he was spawned by killing Panda's but on the second time he popped I had been killing Gorillas and Leopards trying to get Prowler or Ghostback to pop so not conclusive whether you have to kill the same type of animal as the titan or just kill EVERYTHING.
If you are questing these pieces I suggest looking at at the Wak quest and Swiftclaw sash one, too. These both give you faction with the Kejekans to help neutralise the hits the Titan kills will give you, also the rewards are good for Bazaar fodder or alts.

So far Killed;
Snowbeast x1 (skin)
Giang Ying x2 (Skin both times)
Prowler x1 (Leggings)
I have only seen Old Ghostback on FV where I am not capable of taking him down.

I have also gained;
Wakizashi of the Frozen Skies x6
Kejekan headband x5
Swiftclaw Sash x1

saw on Xev twice in one day...
# May 22 2003 at 3:56 AM Rating: Decent
I spent the day hunting pelts while leveling up my beastlord alt just east of the Kejakian Village on Xev. This named panda spawned twice there today. (i checked track the second time and it was at the top of my tracker, which typically means its a new spawn.) I think i saw maybe 5 people total actually hunting in that section of the zone all day, so am not sure what triggered it to spawn again. (I was killing a lot of gorillas, panda cubs, and the while tigers and tigeresses. Got a couple of mature pandas.) It wandered around just northeast of the Village.

It's a well-fed panda. :-) luckily it never pathed through my camp.

I didn't kill it as i wanted to preserve my village faction. (The village is a good place to rest and med up, since mobs don't path through there.) I killed the named leopard (keeper of the forest?) by accident the day before... the Keeper assisted the mob i was killing, and i didn't know it was on faction. :-( but apparently it wasn't a big enough faction hit for the kitty-people to actively dislike me. (i'm a halfling druid)
Rare?
# Mar 11 2003 at 8:56 PM Rating: Decent
Wasn't this guy supposed to be the rarest titan?
He seems to be the only one that I found.

Anyway, this time around he seemed a little faster and could keep up with my JBoots.
I couldn't take him this time. He wouldn't stop and death walk, as I was too injured from a pile of hits and a few DOTs. Got a tiger joining the fight and had to zone to Guntak.

I beleive I would have whipped him if I had some Mage summoned gear.

Just got him. As a 52 Wiz with a lame 171 INT and no clarity I found him quite easy. Got him down to death walk with Draught of Fire hate kiting. Had to Harvest to get mana to finish him off. He got too close once and got 6 hits in in one go, Manaskin absorbed it all, and O'Keils Levity scratched his hands a little.

Dropped claws and Words of Incarceration.

While following his trail, I noticed he stops at 2500, -2900 for a while. This is where I pulled him from. Could out run him with just JBoots.

After server resets, at least 1 ancient seems to always be up. Camp there with a tracker (if you arent one yourself) and just keep checking track all over the zone. You might get lucky.

Otherwise...

Kill all wandering mobs in the zone for days (RL) on end until he spawns.

Me (level 52 necro) and a friend, a 45 ranger killed this guy with relatively no problems. In all the excitement I forgot to fear until after he killed my pet (which was at half-health)... had I feared him earlier it would have been an easy fight. He didnt seem to want to run anywhere while feared... he just kinda ran back and forth in the valley area.

We were camping Snowbeast to get the footpads for my monk... camped him for 5 hours killing anything and everything that crossed our paths while we were there. Instead of Snowbeast we got this guy, and he dropped 2 robes.

All in all it was a fun trip to Stonebrunt. I had never been there before, and killing a rare named mob is always a rush.

If it helps any, we mass-murdered everything in the area around loc pos2905, neg150... he just wandered up behind us while we were in the little rock valley that is by that loc. Hope that helps.
Any Real Info?
# Dec 29 2002 at 7:46 AM Rating: Decent
Despite all the wasted space from people lying about this mob, and random spoutings that don't seem to mean anything, I notice that some very important info was not mentioned. Is this and the other Titans on a random spawn timer? Or is it a set timer? Or maybe they have placeholders? If so what are the placeholders? I have been lucky so far, and have killed all the titans except for this guy, but I have just happened to zone in to this place when they are up. My chanter Loves the astral cloak of the titans, (sold the robe though, Got enough CHA, want more INT) and i have one pelt for the leggings, from Ghostback, but havent been able to get this one yet. Im gonna keep trying though. Why spend 7,000 plat on something when you can just kill a couple mobs, and gets it for free? That's what i think anyway.

Also, for all of those who claim to have snared this thing---WRONG!! All the titans are the same.....IMMUNE TO CHANGES IN THIER RUNSPEED.....for those of you that dont know, that means no snare, no root. My tactic has been very simple. I very simply get to just inside nuking range, blast it one time, then turn and run. I cast spirit of eagle on myself before i engage it, (i'm a 55 druid by the way) and then i run across the biggest hills i can find. Since i'm lev'ed i go straight across the top, while they have to go up and down. Easy to maintain a good enough lead to blast em a few more times like this.

Hope this info is helpful to you all, and if anyone knows the deal on the spawns, please post it.

I could not say if he is on a timer or spawn driven. I had a grp of lvl 30 -35 looking to get the foot pads of the tiger. We were killing several mobs at the ramp to the village. After about an hr and half of killing diff mobs, he came from the north over the mountain and passed south the turned west past the village. About 5min or so later he came back the same way and then despawned. Hope this helps. It seems that some are driven by killing a lot, and others just pop with no one in zone. So, I would say best spot for you to wait or just kill at is right on the road by the village.

Dropped him yesterday with my 55 Beastlord. Cant snare him and cant slow him, so I just let my pet tank. Only took 1 complete heal on the pet, but the fight lasted about 5 minutes. He dropped 2 robes of the great panda. Be sure not to engage him near the cats.

Took a faction hit that dropped me to apprehensive to the cats, but did the Wak of the Frozen skies quest and I was back to indifferent.

Druid with tanglewood shield chain cast ensnare on him and never stuck. Only said it was resisted and not immune. Same with slow from the beastlord.

Oh ya, and he popped near the Kejek village, right near the large rock with the Kejek casting spells. They buffed him, so I decided not to attack til he was out of range of them. Could have easily killed them, but didnt want the extra faction hits.

camped at kejek city for 8 hours of the ancients this is the only one that we seen. 46 ranger, 51 pally and 48 monk killed him, wouldnt not recommend rangers around lvl 46 try him solo as i had to cast fear animal pretty much as it popped back from the last casting to keep him feared. we whupped his azz though, fear animal and one good damage dealer both 45+ can take him easy if he stays feared and not to many adds. fear the adds off they usually wont come back. probaly easier for casters with pets to absorb the damage he deals. hits pretty hard btw 120+ if i remeber. also he dropped the skin, a jade ring and some words. hope this helps

Just Killed Him
# May 11 2002 at 3:10 AM Rating: Decent
I just got done killing Snowbeast and Giang Yin with the panda being obviously more difficult. I (50 necro) sent pet in, cast Ignite Blood (cuz i knew the fight would last longer than the DoT), Bond of Death then feared him, while he was feared i hit him a few times with Ignite Bones then fear broke, re-applied and he went down soon after. didn't drop the robe tho but that was ok cuz i was after snowbeast anyway. you do take a faction hit but the Kejekans didn't bother me after killing him.
RE: Just Killed Him
# May 14 2002 at 5:34 PM Rating: Good
alright i just killed him again, and old ghostback. i wasn't registered before hence my anonymous title. faction still isn't bad. final tally:

Giang Yin: killed 2x
Old Ghostback: killed 2x
Snowbeast: killed 2x

still con dubious to the Kejekans i've seen in the mountains.

How big is the faction hit with the cats for killing this panda? Will you drop all the way to kos, or just down one level or not at all? I am currently amiable with the cats.

I started indifferent, killed him (and a couple Kejekans) and am still indifferent. So the hit can't be too large. I wound up killing the extra kitties because my werewolf form aggro'd them and I didn't feel like running :D

How many times do i have to tell you people THE TITANS CANT BE SNARED OR ROOTED.Hes not nearly as fast as Snowbeast or Prowler, but is the highest lvl of all the titans
RE: OMG
# Jun 01 2002 at 7:22 PM Rating: Default
I dont know about Roots, but this mob CAN be snared. I ( a 48 Druid) was helping a 51 Necro with this mob for the pelt quest. It took me 4 attempts but i got ensnare on him and the necro feared and that was the end of him. Dropped a nice looking claw, but not the pelt. Faction hits with the cats is HUGE, I would guess, kill him 3 times u will go from Amiable to KOS. I went from Amiable to aprehensive with just this one kill. :)

Frontal Melee
# Mar 22 2002 at 8:53 PM Rating: Default
Me & my lvl 52 druid partner ran across this guy one day & decided to attack him. In addition to everything mentioned above, he is IMMUNE to frontal melee attacks. Thank Zek for a 24 pt damage shield, cause that was the only dmg I did to the guy until he turned tail. I do NOT recommend taking this guy on with 2 people...either be capable of soloing or take at least 3.
RE: Frontal Melee
# Mar 29 2002 at 4:05 AM Rating: Decent
Umm, not immune to frontal attacks, me and my warder stood toe to toe with him...got my *** kicked) but took him down to 20% with frontal attacks. Just a FYI.

And before the rants begin, I wasnt solo, no way I coulda dropped em that far without my beasty partner and rogue)

I had the same point to make, FOr those that don't play shaman's or enchanters....

Slow = decrease in speed of attack
snare = Decrease in movement speed

So please use "snare" or another definition if you want people to understand what your talking about.

That's all...later.

Since you mention outrunning him I assume you mean snare spells. Just fought him last night and Turugr's landed on first shot. Made the fight such a piece of cake :).
