Yes, this guy did drop the blue egg last night...no one in our group knew what it was, no one responded to an /ooc so it was left to decay. We fought him right outside the tunnel from Netherbian, but it might have been trained on us from elsewhere, as people seem to have to zone in here a lot.

yeah he spawns in the hopper cave, if your coming out of Nethbian you make a left and follow the hillside until you see the rocks and the cave.
FYI- the mushrooms here sometimes spawn an identicle "fungus shroom" but are much more powerful, capable of DD spells 300+ hp. Be careful.
