Patch Notes for April 5, 2007

Here is the patch message from today:

April 5, 2007
_____________________

*** Highlights ***

The Anniversary scavenger hunts and fabled NPCs will continue to be available until April 16, 2007.

Is your EverQuest character a great traveler, a community leader, or do you have a fabled tale to tell? Want a chance to get an item named after your character? Are you "The Fabled Adventurer"? Then show us the tale of your character. Read about The Fabled Adventurer Video Contest on the EQPlayers website.

*** Items ***

- Changed the name of the fine silk that is used to make the seals for cultural raid augments to fine silk swatch.
- Changed the name of the human robes that have the name "cuirass" instead of robe.

*** NPC ***

- Spell caster skeletons in the Buried Sea should now give the correct aggro message.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- Autojoin now works up to level 75 in The Buried Sea zones and Darkhollow zones.
- Fixed a server crash that could occur when a member was added to a raid. This only happened with very large raids.
- Players are now able to see how much damage they are taking from a DoT when it does its damage. This is also filterable in the Options Windows under Filters under My Damage Over Time.
- Players with pets will no longer get stuck in combat when charmed. The pet's hatelist is cleared when owner is uncharmed.
- Campfires will now despawn if the leader removes himself (as the last member).
- Banners should display the correct guild name when targeted.
- The tribute timer should no longer go away when zoning.
- You can now filter the guild banners even when the "Show all" button is not checked in the guild banners management window.
- Fixed crash bug when trying to display a multi-socketed item.

- The EverQuest Team

Actually, they tend to patch at the time of day (and often the day) that has the fewest total players logged in, thus making the largest number happy. Their goal is to make as many happy as possible (yes, so they can earn more money).

zones are all becoming instance versions, hasnt anybody but me noticed the little ripple effects that go across the zones u are in

That's extremely easy to disprove. Find a zone that's perpetually empty, charm a static mob, give it a 2+ hour buff and leave the zone. Come back in two hours and recharm the mob... the buff will still be there. If the zone were instanced and got created only when a person zoned into it, this would not happen.

You sir, are full of it, and full of yourself, but I repeat myself.

I think you're bugged or something. delete and repatch.

I got in on the first try at about 4:30 pm EST. A good 30 minutes before the 10 hours patch was due to finish.

its interesrting that they would need to have a 10 hour patch after just having a 8 hour 1 last week? of course they could be nice and have it on another day of the week when they are back to back so to not impact the same day player. But making folks happy is not there goal at Soe at all, it is about making money thus the newest box addition been cheaper with all exspansioning to date. Go ahead ask them if they will credit your card for the difference of what 60 90 dyas when u could still preorder LOL plz dont say 90 days prior to the box set annoucment they didnt know they would sell it at that price:) Lag in zones with 20 people expect more and more of it. :reason they the zones are all becoming instance versions, hasnt anybody but me noticed the little ripple effects that go across the zones u are in :D whatch for the little shifts on the ground, what it the servers are doing is checking to see if there is anyone in the zone, if it has noone in it basically closes down, :reason they are using less and less servers to power the game as a whole, and only dedicate a set amount for the basic zone to run on, only when its alotted number excedes by a set amount will it pull more power to that zone but the ratio doesnt allow for smooth play. notice you cant see as far as you used to be able too in any zone, try running at near bard speed an whatch how many things seem to pop into view at close versus long range as before..oh and post, whine if you want it is your right to do so if you wish...folks dont have to read now do they...

Living in France, for me the patch began at 1pm to end up at 11pm... (well, I play EQ for awhile now, more than 5 years, and I guess a 10 hours patch actually means 12 or more). Anyway, even on this side of the world the schedule patch timing just and simply sucks. I agree with you all about that.
I also use to play WoW and I'm now wondering how do they manage at Blizzard to patch at decent time of the day, and for an amount of time that is sooooo shorter than EQ.
What is upsetting with EQ is the patches that now come every week and how they last. Are we finally paying for Sony to patch and patch again for hours and hours or is it to just enjoy an online game that is certainly one of the best I tried ?

So, dear American addicted players, just know that here in the old Europe, actually in France, we're also upset (to not say pissed off) about those never end patches.

See you online later anyway )
A patch

Whine Whine Complain Complain, let's see windows has to be patched hell any program including eq has to be patched omg yes software has to be patched any and all of it. I feel if you do not like it simple go up destroy everything on your toon or give it away or sale if for all I care, then delete your toon and either log off and never log back on or let your accoutn expire and do not renew it. I would love to see anyone esecpailly for a online word wide game make a game or program that is perfect and never has to be patched or changes made! I can see instead of that wasting time which soe doesn't reallyu care or resopnse to go out and live a life or play some other game, yahoo has allot free online games to play while patch is going on, I can see to many people have way to much free time and scary to think how many woudl and will injury theirseleves the day eq goes bye bye, which will happen one day maybe a week, month, 3 months, 6 months, a year , 2, 5 years, 10 years, will happen, so in other words eq is a game nothing more nothing less. I mean come does it pay your rent, house taxes, care payments, gas, electric bill, etc no I do not care if your a level 1 toon with 100 mana and 25 hp or a level 75 toon with 15 k mana and 20k hp it's just a game plain and simple, if you do not like sony's policy or the direction they are tkaing it, simple do not buy sony products LOL good luck on that and quit PERIOD!!!!
Huh?

Come on.. It's a game.. Lets a take a deep breath.. Hold it.. Hold it..

You all complain if there is a bug, yet, then you complain again when there is a patch to fix the said bug? I'm confused.

Now.. If you did your research before you came here, you'd know that the servers were also down for maitnence! Flame that, How dare they try and help you!!! The fiends! Burn the witches...

Keep holding your breath...

Babsie- YES FOR THAT!

Hendoor- One post couldn't sum up your uncontrollable rage? Thought of something to say after you hit " Post Message" ? Remember, Allakhazam DOES have Edit! Hooray!

Bigbadsomethingoranother- Expansion a month? Wow... Either you have super long months, or you have no comprehension of time. It's an expansion per every six months, typically.

Jonwhite- If you'd like to know what they patch, you can hit your Everquest Icon, and after a patch, it will tell you what they patched.. Wow, technology is advanced!

Jgok- 4 A.M. +10 hours=2 P.M.

You can let your breath out now, or not if you don't want to.. Either or.

Doesn't surprise me. They haven't been able to fix my main character not updating on website since November (level 65 in game but still lvl 14 on the website) and my son's main still doesn't even show up. The expansion mania is ridiculous. I would rather they fix stuff that's already broke - you know bugged PoJ trials and horrible lag in blightfire. They are making it easier and easier to actually kick my EQ addiction. I don't remember any game I have ever played being so problematic. In fact I am feeling nostalgic so I thihnk I will go play some Halo and just blow stuff up.

# Apr 05 2007 at 11:55 AM Rating: Decent
Lets see, 1 expansion every month or close for a few months, Then so many things in each expansion are bugged. Instead of pushing expansions fix the ones you have already put out. Still LD on rezz in new zones, armor that wont dye, severe lag with 20 players in a zone. Just to start. These and more issues fixed will generate more people staying and paying than moving off. Come On SOE give us veterans a break you are bleeding us to death. 3 accounts and this is the thanks.

Hm,Something smells here. That is NOT a 10 hour patch. Now we get to beta-test whatever they really messed with and get "surprised" --at the worst possible times. Of course no one will be around to fix things over the long weekend either. /sigh

The DoT report for DoTs cast on yourself is definately a good idea I think. Can't say I enjoy Thursday patches though, as my guild raids PoP and stuff is rarely back up Thurs nights for our raids. :(

Whatever happened to patches being scheduled for Sunday nights around 11pm? It seems that would be the time with the least amount of players online. It figures the only day of the week I can sit and play they seem toschedule all patches for then.
Nice time to make a update
