    The 18 zones
    # Mar 23 2002 at 9:24 AM Rating: Excellent
    There are 18 zones in total so I reckon that the zones in the expansion will probably be:

    4 Planes of Power:
    - Plane of Fire (Fennin Ro)
    - Plane of Air (Xegony)
    - Plane of Earth (Rathe Council)
    - Plane of Water (Tarew Marr, E'ci & Povar)

    11 Planes of the 11 player-selectable Gods that aren't ingame yet (with Innoruuk's Hate, Cazic-Thule's Fear, Tunare's Growth, Bristlebane's Mischief and Veeshan's Sky already ingame this covers all 16 player gods):
    - Plane of Disease (Bertoxxulous) - confirmed on official website
    - Plane of Underfoot (Brell) - will probably connect to the unused zone in The Hole
    - Plane of Storms (Karana)
    - Plane of Love (Erollisi Marr)
    - Plane of Valor (Mithaniel Marr)
    - Plane of Oceans? (Prexus)
    - Plane of Tranquility (Quellious) - confirmed on official website - no combat so quest-only zone?
    - Plane of Healing? (Rodcet Nife)
    - Plane of Flame (Solusek Ro) - confirmed on official website
    - Plane of Justice (The Tribunal) - confirmed on official website
    - Plane of War (Rallos Zek plus his sons Tallon, Vallon and Sullon) - might zone from Kael /shrug

    1 demi-plane (per Planes of Power website):
    - Plane of Nightmares (Terris Thule) - confirmed on official website

    2 Planar cities:
    - New Tanaan, Plane of Knowledge (Druzzil Ro's plane of magic?) - confirmed on official website
    - City/Plane of the Fallen/Forsaken (Zebuxoruk, the Ungod) - mentioned in the background on the official website - supposed to be a city of paladins, SKs and clerics that have been abandoned by their gods

    This would still leave 6 demi-planes unaccounted for: Music (Ayonae Ro), Pain (Saryrn), Dreams (Morell Thule), Greed (Torvonillous), Madness (Vazaelle) and Shadow (Luclin).

    - Gil

    Giliad / Adrik / Quiss / Ogvar / Mogg
    56 dru / 50 war / 50 mnk / 45 rog / 35 shd

    Turn the friggin graphics down, geez! You can do this before you log on the game. If you can't log your char who's on the moon, turn off the char models. Log on another char and turn down your clip pane. Turn off the sky layer. There are around 20 things you can turn down and get your char off the moon. If all else fails get more memory, man it's really CHEAP. If you can afford to pay to play this game, you can afford $50 for a memory upgrade.
    RE: bah
    # Mar 25 2002 at 2:32 PM Rating: Default
    $50 for memory upgrade? hehe glad i don't live where you do, 256mb chips are only $20. Then again why bother, just delete your characters on the moon, tis sooo much easier, I mean what ya gonna lose? 20, 30, 50 levels? some uber gear? massive amounts of pp? Naw, do as the guy/gal said and turn the crap down, go get 4 256mb chips (unless your comp can only hold 2) then you'll be set, erm until you remember that your still on dial-up that is. Theres even ways to improve your connection on dial-up, change packet sizes to and fro EQ world servers, heck find a different path with less packet loss (erm this should be your ISP's job, but hey ya can get a cheap prog to hop skip and jump your way to less packet loss, sure you maynot be going the straight route but at least yer going). Ohh and BTW I am FoS :0) (i'd spell it out but allakhazam staff would delete my post)

    verant has 2 development teams working at all times, which means that they are still working very hard on luclin, but there is also another team working hard to bring us more fun stuff to do. personally i think they are doing a great job. maybe you should look at the hardware on your computer as the reason you can't log in to your moon character.

    Erm fixing luclin??????? Ya care to comment on why they haven't gotten the crap fixed from the original, RoK, and SoV???

    Listen to this guy; They are working on Fixing Luclin, great that helps RoK and SoV.

    Erm hey, here's a thought, I will look at your hardware and tell you what i think of your puny 512mb ram, 486mhz intell (POS), I'd be willing to bet it's probably not his hardware (as his hardware is probably better than yours). You ever notice, if your not use to any lag at all then when some comes (no matter how small), you notice it. Where I would be willing to bet that you were lagging pre kunark, thus luclin seems no different to ya, heck I lagged a little in luclin at first but ya really should defragment (or optimise your hard drive-depending on if you wanna waste your time with windows), sure that sped it up alot then i noticed that there were a few progs that were causing problems with EQ (EQ crashes everytime another prog runs in the background), nope not my hardware (or software for that matter), EQ client software has been unstable since luclin. Easiest solution, re-partition, re-format, write all 0's to drive, then reinstall your OS and EQ, nothing else and patch your life away again. Sure waste of time, but ya should do it every 3 months anyway (windows recomended-erm does that mean they admitted their OS sucks?)
    Bah some druids need a reality check
    # Mar 23 2002 at 7:42 AM Rating: Decent
    You know what? I can't believe all the greedy assed druids posting on here! It is generally IMPOSSIBLE for me to get a port EVER. Since Luclin came out I can rarely get a port. When I need to travel from point A to point B across the world it takes me on average 20 minutes to find a port (donating around 30-40pp). Oftentimes it is faster to take the boat or run across 15 zones. If you want to complain about your "porting buisiness" being cut apart then how about you make yourselves more accesable in the first place. If you cant make money any other way than porting my sorry *** around then i'm sorry.

    # Mar 25 2002 at 3:08 PM Rating: Good
    Theres the typical mindset of the terris-thule drood. If they can't get 20-80pp per person per port, then they /ignore. Heck I saw a druid get a free xp rez from a lvl 60 cleric then had the nerve to charge the cleric to port her where she wanted to go.

    I started with a druid on this server, and after 60 lvl's I only charged for a port 1 time (the iksar monk had been KS'ing my warrior all night, so a quick 60pp for porting him and casting a DoT on the druid at the ring and gateing out leaving him to be chased down-he attacked her indirectly by being grouped with me thus the camo i gave him made no difference, best part was he died in a very unfriendly place and had to work real hard to get his corpse back). Heck, my warrior has been happy as hell since luclin came out, jump up to the moon and back down relatively close to anywhere i wanna go, so what if i have to run 4 or 5 zones, i get there just as fast as before and i can actually bank all my phat pp.

    I also saw a druid charge a chanter that gave him C2, even had 1 try to charge my mage, after i had already given him a modrod2 with all 3 charges.

    Droods of Terris-Thule=Sure I'll help you kill that uber mob that has a drop you want, then I'll even help you out by looting it and selling it to you for Phat PP, then when you need a port out i'll even help you buy charging you 80pp for the port, hey chanter give me a C2, hey cleric give me an xp rez. I think I am gonna go quad Green HG's in Rathe Mountains, and KS anyone trying to get XP.

    RE: Bah some druids need a reality check
    # Mar 23 2002 at 11:46 PM Rating: Decent
    To the post about everyone that wants to be able to port make a druid... I'm sure almost every player would love the ability to port. But if everyone was a druid or wizard, where would that leave us in the game? If it were not for melee characters taking the damage from powerful mobs, you would not last long in all high level zones. If there were no Enchanters, Clerics, or other caster types you wouldnt have clarity, rezzes, or other enhancement spells that I am sure you benefit from in your experiences playing Everquest. So if you want to be an *** and never port characters that are in need, then don't ask for rezzes, clarities, or any other spells you use on a regular basis. Having played my friends druid, I constantly get bugged for ports. If I am in a position to, I gladly do it. If not I just explain that I am bust at the moment. I'm not saying you have to port people all the time, just help when you can and maybe the favor will be re-payed to you some other day.

    I myself being a wizard of the 45th circle have no problem porting people with my translocate line of spells. I am happy to see that people can find a port without having to rely on wizards or druids for transport. Also I usaully don't charge for translocations unless they require small portal fragments( which only cost 1plat and some change so usaully its no big deal to port for free), and i usaully only accept donations if the person wishs to donate. The only places I really have problems porting people to is WL[that dragon still hates me :( ] and IC(port in spot is not safe and i have died many times).

    HA HA, Sure port a few times and you spells are paid for for 5 leveals. Don't pull this "Charge cause we need the money crap." I have a Shaman and have no problem with getting money for my spells and they are close to the same cost. If I'm wrong there kill more cash cows. Tired of Druids complaining. Shaman have the most expensive spell-30kpp+ for 1 of the droped ones, and guess who always is willing to sell it to you....You Guessed it, A DRUID.

    Like the druid who tried to sell me ModRod2 for 20kpp, and has asked for me to summon them for him, Sorry druid i don't have the spell (hides his spellbook), maybe if you droods wouldn't horde all the drops (i.e. looting others spells while they are grouped with ya-even if you lose the roll-but need before greed should always be observed).

    This has got to be the stupidiest move Verant has ever made. And ya know what, the players don't care!

    Luclin is not even completed yet, but they are starting work on a new expansion. Where is the bazaar? It isnt what was promised. Where is the new interface? The zones are still laggy as hell.

    Hardly anyone complains that Verant lied to us. Luclin was a lie. I could list a hundred things that Verant should be fixing. But what are they doing? Working on another bug infested pile of crap. And you morons are going to lap it up like obedient atticted lapdogs.

    Verant is doing this because they know they own your life. It is pure greed. Don't even tell me that it is a business and they are out to make money. I will puke on you if you do. There are right and wrong ways to make money. This is wrong.
    Stormhammer is the same thing, another way for Verant to bilk money out of you retards. And yes, you are retarded if you spend $40 a month on a game!

    half the zones are always very empty or nearly empty. We don't need new zones, we need the gameplay altered. Look at Mischief and Air. They are empty nearly all the time.

    This expansion is a waste of time and money, don't be the idiot who preorders it and has to wait a few weeks for the stupid thing to work. If we can get enough people to not buy it then they people who bought won't be able to use it because they will need 50 people to zerg rush the mobs there and will be screaming at Verant. Then maybe Verant and the idiots will get the message.

    Actually, I think Angry has a point. A business that does not care for its customers is a business doomed to eventual failure. It does seem a bit odd that they are considering another expansion when so very many people are still experiencing everything from fatal lag to daily crashes because of all the bugs that have not been fixed. I know several people who were actually driven to give up on EQ because they no longer felt the game was playable or they couldn't afford new computers. If the problems get bad enough, too many people will quit, Verant will cease to make money on the game, and none of us get to play EQ any more. Please, Verant, fix what's broken. It's in everyone's best interests.

    doesn't matter. as long as there is a market for crap then crap will be supplied. demand better then the better will be supplied or the supplier will go out of business. they stay in business because we have proven we will pay for an inferior product. lying is involved, yes. yet verant is not the only one to be blamed here. they lie to us and disappoint us. they don't deliver what they promise us. do we leave? do we stop sending them money? do we truly cry foul and break the contract with them? no. we consent to the lie and tell them it's ok when we send in the next $10. you want change? incite a mass exodus. as long as you keep buying their product you are saying, "this money is in exchange for a product that while i know is inferior, is also acceptable." we shake hands on the deal and it's done. don't blame your agreement to being lied to on the liar. blame it on yourself.

    Nearly ALL of the experience in EQ is obtained through xp grinding. Killing wave after wave of the same mobs at a camp, ad infinitum. We've all been there... hell with the AA xp system, we're all STILL there LOL.

    But I was thinking about the name EverQuest the other day... specifically about the LAST part.. the QUEST part. True the game has quests, thousands of them. However... and this is a big however... they are not what you do to level, not what many folks think of to raise faction (althogh an excellent way to), and not the way to get enough NICE items, without having to kill some mob and wait for some drop, so that the quest boils down to a series of fights and 'the other part'.

    Just my opinion, VI should add a lot more desirable and in some cases REQUIRED 'quest' activity to the game, at an early stage, to ensure that if you meet someone say... level 45, you know that character has completed like 10 important quests and only half of them involving kills. Some involving trade skills, geographical knowledge, faction, casting or melee ability used in the quest in a non-combat activity, team play, and perhaps even some way of tracking a service rendered to a PC (yes not an NPC) a certain number of levels below yours.

    I DO NOT WANT to elimonate the battles and quests involving mob fights, rather I would like to see the EQ world enhanced by quest related activity yielding a LOAD of xp for instance, and tracked so you can only do it once, and in fact MUST do it once to hit a given level.

    Problem with your post is you're assuming everyone should want to play the way you play. Personally I don't go much for quests unless it's got a real nice item at the end. I do, however like to kill things. The bigger the better. POP gives me more Gods to kill.

    Well, I think you may have missed my point sport, I am FORCED to play YOUR way. For xp (leveling), I must kill kill kill, which I like to do, but it lacks a certain depth, for a game titled EverQuest. What's the harm in tempering a bit of that, with an occasional required quest that involves more than just a series of kills with some traveling. It takes very little imagination to come up with many ways that EverQuest could be enhanced so that it has more 'depth' to the advancement system. There are folks, tens of thousands literally, who probably have forgotten more than I will even come to know, about questing and Norrath in general. However, the game remains (to me) in need of more than just zones to kill again... sure it needs those, and I want more high level zones to roam in, but IMO it needs more. The AA point system was a definite improvement in my mind, but again, the xp that gets dumped into that system is from the same mode... exclusively killing (practically anyway).

    OMG..people take some things so seriously....Look at the screenshot...it's a werewolf...Druids can wolfform, but for some reason don't get past being a wolf...no, it wasn't exactly a joke, I'd like to eventually look like a werewolf...even if some rogue doesn't like it that they can't SoW themselves...we go from Wolf Form...Greater Wolf...to Mask of the Stalker, Mask of the Hunter, etc...but we never get past the wolf... Kill yerself if you think I was so serious that I'd demand to LOOK DIFFERENT... we get attk boosts along with our WolfForm...I wouldn't expect to become a meleer!! I just wish the image would change to something higher up than a wolf that simply changes colors and I think eventually (? maybe I'm wrong, I've seen them) become semi-transparent....FORGIVE me if I have the same spells throughout my whole career, getting 1 Direct Damage and another that hardly hits, having a bunch of lines of spells that only make ppl ASK me for buffs...WHEN I'M GROUPED EVEN!! When you have ppl search each ruin around KC in Dreadlands looking for the druid who was proud enough to wear his WolfForm (I've never seen an enchanter wear it, though that would be funny to have THEM asked for a port or sow or chloroplast, or STR, or Levitation..which costs me one of MY batwings...and yeah, it's a cheap component, but when I use them regularly and someone walks up and asks for one, and being the polite druid I don't say...give a me batwing...which they won't be carrying on purpose, etc...)...then come back and complain....I would just like a new look to a spell that I use everyday....and if you'll take me up on that offer...get rid of rogues...thank you...

    (PS, if that doesn't shut you up....Let this be the new look for Boon of the Garou...now THAT would probably be more logical, even if druids do deserve a new look rather than just changing colors...)

    there, I'm done...go back to lockpicking for 2 hours so you can get your skill up, ya rogue...
    (and don't bother with any witty come backs, cuz I don't care...I'm a druid, and I'm darn proud of it...and if I want more for my CHOSEN class... then I can ask for more...cuz I've never complained that Monks can FD, Tanks could Taunt, Ogres/Trolls could regen...I'm a druid...and I'm very happy with what I am...I have the right to ask for a COSMETIC change to my character..cuz I'll be playing a druid til I'm level 60, and Wrath of Naturing orcs with my Epic for the hell of it....)

    As for the lvling, I would think it would be a VERY good idea to make it that if you want to lvl up from 60-61, 61-62... and so on up to what ever lvl, I think they should make it that you can ONLY gain that lvl in a certain high lvl zone within Planes of Power. Giving people the chance to go to Velks, or some other zone just to farm spiders to get experience to get to 70 will greatly unbalance the game and the zones within EQ already. A group of lvl 70's could then clear out Hate, Fear, Growth, and Air with ease since they will just be that much higher of a lvl than the mobs in the zone, and it would be no challenge. When I think of a challenge to high end gamers, Id say, make them EARN their experience. Make them kill through UBER mobs to gain exp, it would be a slow grueling process, but It would stop people from soloing spiders or some other mob because their gear is just that good. Next, Make chanters be a little more worth while on raids, Not saying they arent, but many high lvl encounters, you cant even mezz the guys. Which of course makes it tuff, but whats a chanter going to do, sit back wait for c3 calls and shissar plz. Give warriors the ability to bind. Whats the differance... really, Warriors or any other melee for that matter, just sit back and wait for the casters to go in, and rez them back to their bodies. If all else fails, theyll get a necro to do it. But if your in SG, its a real punk to have to run some people from SS or if they forget to bind in SS, run them from Kael or whereever they are bound, back to the zone. While the casters are able to be put right at the zone line. Most of the casters a plenty capable though of making it back down to their bodies since casters are near full power without their gear on. Since they got their spells and a spell book memorized. Tell me, how do casters seem to keep their book with all those cantations on their body when they are reborn at their bind points? And why cant a warrior at least be reborn at his bind point with weapons in hand? Its the same differance, cept favor in casters hands yet again. I also think all types should be able to somewhat hide themselves. Maybe not give warriors or palidines the ability to sneak... but what 2 bit moron doesnt know how to hide? Only rogues i guess can hide, and all other casters except for clerics, everyone should be able to use hide, since EVERYONE either naturally knows, or has sometime in their life knows how to hide to aviod confrentation. But not everybody knows how to sneak around silently, so that can be held solely to those classes which are capable to do so. Im tired of sitting down in a corner, and get up to go to the bathroom, no sooner i get back and realize theres been a train pulled on me and Im all but dead.

    Your making the game so ungodly hard and so really lifelike that you cant even escape to do some real life activity safely. Theyre needs to be some thing which will allow that sort of thing. Maybe make it that if you have to go, put a time limit on how long it takes to get back, so people cant abuse it, since when you do leave, your not able to log back in for 15 min. So if you are in the middle of an important raid, your friends better watch over you, or your not going to be able to help out for another 15 min. But if your on your own, waiting to get in a group in the velks or something, that 15 min is a viable escape where you can go to the bathroom, run grab a bowl of cereal or pop in a pizza to eat. Or even answer that telephone call without tearing **** across the house, pick up the phone, then tear **** back to make sure nothings been trained onto you.

    As for stuff already in place, make some areas that will allow for better experience gaining up to lvl 60. The worse part about the game I find is the grind and repetative nature of leveling up. Or even going for AA points. The only nice thing about lvling up for lvls or AA points are those hard to get camps in which a rare spawn or named spawn pops up, and theirs a chance to pick up decent gear which is a step up from mid 30's quest gear, but not as good as 50's quest gear. Like in the Upper dogs in the velks, drops spider fur gear, and shimmering terror hide gear. Also a Barbed BP and some nice gems, hides and paws for good deal of cash. Only problem is, this spot is camped over HEAVILY and all other spots below, with Top shelf or the very highest point in the entry way to the velks, everything else is a constant flow of the same looking spiders, the same screeching annoying spiders. Same boring loot which the mass majority of people destroy, and not worth the arrows you buy to hunt there with for items dropping which you can sell for some pp. Spice it up a bit, make exp gaining a little more fun. Most fun in exp gaining is basically when people poke fun, or do stupid things. Which is fun, dont get me wrong, but when you get into a group thats not very active, and not in the mood to joke around. Having a grinding spider after spider, is BORING!!! Good exp, but BORING!!! Sebilis is a little more fun, cause the froggies are a little easier to poke fun at, but other than that, its the same basic thing, with the exception of rare stuff droping at most all camps, which makes it a nice place to go to. But when you zone in and hit / and find that theirs 40 players in the zone, that leaves absolutly NO camps left open. If a spot does open, you got them stupid entry way frogs stopping you from joinin the people within. They see invis, and you cant sneak/hide past em, so its basically an annoyance when u have to leave your camp, go all they way up to the entry way, and then come all the way back down. There are ways of getting around this little annoyance =p but thats for you to find out... The new CT zone would be cool if it wasnt for the fact its frickin harder than all else to get past even the courtyard. HS is good exp but without the keys, and without a very skilled group your not going to be gettin exp all that much. But i do think HS is a viable way to make the new expansion for exp wise. Make a tuff zone which involves questing to get into, then in that zone alone is where you can lvl up in. Make it a little more multi group friendly but other than that, make it a REAL challenge, and a lot of fun to get exp.

    Well my internet connection just cut on me, for no apparent reason, gotta love dial-up... /finger dial up... So I hope this little rant/personal opinion on how the game should be directed still gets posted. As said in the first post, Id like to see some more stuff be able to be done and accomplished on the singular lvl, but I wouldnt go so far as to say that Vulakk can be killed by yourself and get his gear, then if 2 people comes he gets harder, this isnt Diablo 2, and if you know the people in Diablo 2 theyre not very friendly and the game is so impersonal it gets boring. Main factor which has kept me coming back to EQ and has kept me on the same server, are the people i meet and the people I will meet in the future. Also keeping in touch with old friends who cant play at the same time as me because of RL changes. But in rare occasions i am on when they are and it is nice to catch up with them. Diablo 2... BigBadslaasher you meet on your first day is now BigBadCaster or BigBadNecro... and that person is lost within the network of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of accounts. And if BigBadSlassher isnt their, oh well, the game is just as challenging and just as rewarding if he was replaced with ImCoolAt12, you cant do anything to me so ill be a moron. Basically, in D2 people are expendible. EQ... ok you are somewhat expendible, but not really. Players with skill and lots of effort put into the game are definatly NOT expendible. Leader of guilds and those that get people motivated to achieve goals that individuals couldnt do on their own are NOT expendible. Those that help achieve those goals are not as expendible as in D2 since its the collective which forms together to advance the guild, but if one or 2 people leave, the game will allow you to adapt as such that your not totally left out. In the end everyones position is expendible, but the person is not. And in EQ you really get to know the person behind the computer, who is by far NOT expendible. If they act in such an impersonal manner like they do in D2, they will not be accepted into guilds, and they will not succeed. Just as in real life, those that dont follow the norm, or work hard to achieve the goals they set or goals set before them by others, they will not succeed and they will not advance farther in our society. /yawn ok im done now. Seriously talked a bit to much =p looked over at the clock and its much MUCH later than what it was at when i began this post. heh.

    Have fun in the game, no matter what turns it will take in the future. And respect your elders, in or out of the game!! Dont rip on the high lvls when verant caters to them, theyve by far earned their keep, and earned the stuff their getting.

    When are the designers going to give us poor druids a break?

    I'm just getting to a level where my group port spells are getting tantilisingly close, hopefully meaning I can start to earn some pp from donations...and what happens, they release an update 'that allows players of all levels to transport themselves all over norath by visiting one of two cities'

    Are they TRYING to get rid of druids...if much more is given away from the character (books to do what we can do using spells seem to be popping up EVERYWHERE) then there will be little incentive to carry on developing my druid.

    All the latest updates to the game seem to be giving away a lot our abilities and not giving us a chance to gain others.

    Sweet Tunare... you're the person who makes druids look bad. I don't ever port unless asked. I'd rather be hunting than porting people around. It's nice to be able to do, and I usually don't turn anyone down for a request, but that's the least of my abilities. You probably shouldn't develop your druid if you think that's all we do.

    Now to the flamers that think, like this guy, that we SHOULD be porting you around. Try asking me to group with you instead. I got some nice little tricks to kill things with. And as an added bonus, I can and will port your butt out of the camp when we're done.

    I usually don't respond to these threads, but the idiot (sorry, but you are) that thinks he shouldn't develop his druid because all the ports are available through Luclin, and he won't be able to make money now, made me mad. Play another class.

    Heh not a flame, but just a real situation. Bare with me here for a second...

    When you were 16 you got all hyped about finally being able to drive, you tear around the city, show off in front of friends and never understand how this would get old, or why your parents say, enjoy youth while you got it... 10 years down the line, "Hey Phil, why dont you drive today..." "Na man, I drove all last week, you can drive!" "Gahh...". As you can see, driving is now a task, and nobody really wants to do it. Getting older gives your freedoms to choose your own path, and yet when you finally do get old enough to choose such paths, you realize how small of a hallway your runnin in. You realize its not a walk in the park, and you realize its not so cheap or fun as it was a kid. Bills for cars, house, heating, food, water, electricity... ect. All of a sudden, getting old really bites. So open your eyes, enjoy your innocence. Take it from those with experience that the grass isnt always greener on the other side. So as they say, choose your poison.

    If you dont understand what im getting at... High lvl druids find it a chore to port around, and after the initial fun of finally being able to port people around, youll be left with the same old druid, but now youll just be pressured to give out ports, some free, some for profits. Added benifits come with their added downfalls. I think this new deal will greatly aleviate the downfalls that come with people begging for ports. Although if you do port for pp... well, find a new way to play for pp, or do it the old fashion way, actually get a group together and work for your item you want by killing the actual mob, not just buy it from faymart or where ever your server trade market is.

    I would have to say that your reaction is completely self absorbed. Druids have superior ability to solo and gain experience, as well as valuable skills that make them very desireable in a group. For a night of Questing, I always team up with a druid friend to make the travel time minimal, track what we need to kill, and compliment my melee attributes. Druids are an extremely viable and important class in Norrath (I myself have an alt 32 Druid, and she is not a 'port-wench').

    I realize some druids port for plat, it's an easy and risk free way to earn some dough, and I always offer to donate. However, for all of the heals, Lay Hands, buffs, and rezzes and melee saves I've provided with my pally, I've never charged a cent or accepted a donation. I DON'T think it's wrong to charge for ports, it's definitely a valuable service and is MUCH more convenient then using Luclin AND I'll bet will be more convenient than using the new zones in PoP. But to complain that non-droo (and non-wizzies) will have at least some relief when it comes to travel, is selfish. What chance to Warriors, Paladins, Rogues and others get as frequently as Druids to earn pp solo, in a non combat environment. Why do you 'deserve' to have folks depending on you so much for travel, when you don't have negative attributes to compensate for this advantage. Druids are a nicely balanced class for solo or team play... porting aside.

    You see your role as paid taxi to Norrath being a major part of who your character is, I see it as completely irrelavant to the Druids skills and value.

    I think they should make it so more than 2 classes can port. I play an enchanter and sometimes I'll get on and be completely stuck in one area of the game and have no place to go because there are no stinky druids or wizards around. Lucky for me I bind where I usually fight (sebilis) or by a spire connected to the nexus and I always keep a thurg gate potion on me in case I am stuck somewhere so I can easily get to the nexus but not everyone can do that :(

    Poor druids? Bah; cry me a river. If you haven't noticed, Verant has ALREADY made travel around the universe easier to everyone. Ever heard of the firepot room? How about a little thing called "The Nexus"? You act as if they're giving all port spells to all classes in the game. And even if they did, so what? If you really play a druid thinking one of your main assets is scrounging money from donations, you are one sad druid. That would be like me playing a rogue just so I could pickpocket from everyones' mobs. It sounds like you're a really selfish player, not thinking about what the players together can do against the mobs but how much more you can do than other players. If you're on a PvP, try going to a PvE server. If you already are, try getting into a good guild. Or go ahead and play whatever way you want, but please don't waste space whining about the newest news from Verant.

    *Newsflash!* "New zone! They're calling it the "Real World". Simply unplug your computer to instantly teleport there."

    Well i think the Druid before you was saying that if there were Wolfform potions he wouldn't get that warm fuzzy fealing for Wolfforming that newbie Ogre so he could raize his FP faction. Or he wouldn't be needed to port the lvl 11 (couldn't say lvl 1 anymore) newbie who died exploreing the basement in Befallen and was bound in Qeynos. I have many other reasons then plat to play a druid.
    My 2 Cents

    Might be a bit off the subject of Druid bashing that's going on here, but I believe, in my OPINION that this is a very valid point I'm about to make. If you are playing the game of Everquest with the intention to have everyone else out there assist you in making money, exp, loot, etc. then you need to get over it. Try playing RPG's of the past where everything you did was on your own, maybe with a party of 5 characters that you controlled yourself, but it was on YOUR OWN.

    I don't expect everyone out there to live by my philosophy in EQ, but I ALWAYS try to help out anyone in need, especially newbies, as I know somewhere along the line, I will need help myself, and I know how tough being new can be (though the new patches are making it easier on them.) That little phrase that you heard when you were growing up about the 'golden rule' (not the one about who has the gold makes the rules, the other golden rule) can apply online and on EQ.

    Now don't get me wrong, if someone wants to pay for help, or if you are willing to help someone out for a small profit if they request for help and you reply, then fine, everyone needs money. But don't be so greedy as to decide that playing the game as a particular character is not worthwhile because you can't make as much money due to upgrades in the game through expansions and patches. Every class has it's benefit and detriment. This is what makes the game so versatile and allows for so much interaction between players. Kill, loot, grp, solo, whatever it is you need to do to get money, if you get it because you help someone out, then even better, but don't think that it's your given right because of your class. If everyone were a god to say, that they could do every task out there, without having to pay some sort of price for it, then what fun would the game really be.

    So be kind to the other players, enjoy what you do have, and that they are attempting to make things better all the time for us, the gamers. Not all software bugs are that simple to fix, and no software is without it's flaws, and this will probably be so indefinitely. So what, enjoy the new stuff, they'll get to fixing the old stuff maybe someday (not saying it's not important, but what you get with the expansions is so much, the details are minor, and the significant probelms are normally corrected pretty quickly.)

    And that's my 2 cents.
    Maybe I'm wrong, so correct me if I am

    I haven't been around EQ as long as probably 99% of you that have been posting here, and most of you might laugh at the idea of only being lvl 15 after 6 weeks of time on EQ, but I have a few words to say. You are all a bunch of ungrateful, selfish, little people who are looking for the next expansion or patch, or whatever it is that they come out with to be geared toward YOU. Well guess what people, it's a big world out there, several million people playing this game, not everyone can be where you are, and not everyone can dedicated straight 40 hours a week or more to the game, like having a second full time job (or even a job for those of you out there too young or lazy, or unfortunate enough not to have one).

    Having said that, I played EQ about 5 hours in about 3 days, before I was hooked. It was that simple, ease of play, vast open world, that for someone who only puts in if their lucky, 15 hours a week, this game seems almost endless. Now they are coming out with a new game, GREAT, I don't have to worry about running out of things to do for another 10 years at least at my pace, just with the current material out there. I blame EQ for my craze to run out and upgrade nearly every aspect of my computer (including the whopping speaker system) in order to fully enjoy my game play, just so I could enjoy Luclin when I purchased it. Personally, yes, there are some things that after only 6 weeks I can find that I would like to have changed (like the ability to bind at any zone), but people, if you quit dedicating your life to this game, sit back and enjoy it instead of rushing to get as high as you can as quickly as you can, then maybe you might enjoy the new things that EQ does get to the customer. For instance, I am a dark elf,and still have never left the continent of Antonica, yet, and just the other day in a patch they changed my home of Nektulos Forest, what seems almost entirely, and I have been enthralled since, just to check out all the new things.

    Enjoy the game for it's complex system of characters and places to search, you'll never get this currently from any final fantasy game, so take your choice. And for those of you that want to back your arguement by saying Lord of Camelot or another online game is better, well I wouldn't know, but if you're so unhappy, go there yourself and quit ********* You pay your money every month like a good boy/girl and you will get what you pay for. Try paying $50 for a game that you beat in 2-3 months (some people maybe 2-3 days) on one of these home console systems, or offline computer games, and then what do you have, not an ever changing, expanding, and fully interactive environment. I personally love what I've seen so far, and kudos to those of you who don't ***** about this being the worst thing ever.

    By the way, I've heard there are mobs out that take a full group of lvl 60's currently to beat, and I'm sure at least some of you know what I'm talking about. Maybe instead of getting on a kick about what to do for increasing the difficulty of a grouped mission, what about gearing the game more towards those that like to interact, but hate to fight with other people. Sometimes teamwork is not an option, and you just kill on your own, so how bout making high level stuff that doesn't require groups, but if attacked in groups, becomes exceedingly difficult. If you're that high in the game, then what do you have to lose but lots of exp :)

    I just have to say Amen. I have been playing for over 2 years and my highest charater is only 31! Does that mean I suck and am still a newbie? Hell no I beat the living crap out of a lvl 45 pally. He payed me 100pp for it. I love to enjoy the game, not be the Uber lvl 70+ **** (yes I know with current caps you can only be 60) with all the NToV armor.

    BTW, I have explored over 100 zones in EQ and memerized atleast 50 of them by heart. I know and have memerized the drop rates, spawn times, rarity, and Stats of more items and mobs than alot of lvl 50+ people. And I know all there is to know about the Warrior Class (Disc, Skills, Lvl caps, Haste values, raiding tactics, and more)

    Why have level caps at all?
    it could be an infinate system where level 70 is an infinate amount of exps, that way level 70 exists but you can never get to it! That will ***** up some people who will still try and get to it!

    Also as regards disused zones allot of the problem is getting close bind points, why can't melees be bound anywhere. I mean they have to get someone to bind to start with why should it be only casters can bind nearly anywhere and melee's cannot? melees have a hard deal as it is without being able to do many things without a group doesnt make any sense to me why it should be made harder.

    EQ is also run by money and to get more they are releasing expansions, instead of improving the actual gameplay and running a realistic world with events that are not just half-arzed.
    This is supposed to be Everquest not Everlevel
    Evertwink or Everslay

    I wouldnt mind paying more per month to have a decent EQ for everyone that actually makes you think and take part. Each server could then evolve as the players want leading to more variety.

    Guess I won't be able to play for a week or two when this comes out. I just recently have been able to see the sky after SoL was introduced. I could either look at flicker on my inventory screen or turn the sky off.I wonder what other Video issues and undocumented features will be introduced. Will I need a Gig of memory just to play a $10 a month game?

    Im angry, why would they go and release a new expansion when the world they have isnt finished. I was staring at my EQ map yesterday and could point out dozens of places that are there but dont have a zone to them. Gee whiz, why dont they get the bazzar up and running first. Or how about finishing finishing the town of Sanctus Seru? It seems to me that Luclin was rushed to get it out before Christmas so they dident finish it all, thinking they could just finish it later in the patches. Then it came out, people are happy, so why bother finishing it. BAH!! And how come the graphics from the screenshots on the back of the Luclin box look oh so much better then the actual game graphics. <dont belive me, whoop out the box, turn it around and look at the screenshot of the highelf, third one from the top.> All i can say is BAH!!!

    Are you talking about Firiona Vie? She ain't no simple high elf.

    Overall, I've been impressed with how well the graphics have meet those displayed in advertising/screenshot. In fact, before Luclin was released, when I was drooling over those screenshots, I went back to look at screenshots from Kunark and Velious, and determined that they did indeed match up fairly well to what we actually got in the game. Gone seem to be the days when the screenshots were taken on Macs and looked NOWHERE near as good as the more common PC version of the game.

    Now, I do think they should finish some of the things they mentioned as being released with Luclin, namely removal of the last remnants of the old UI and completion of the bazaar system, but I also know that regardless of the fact my highest level character is 13 (and I've been playing since Nov 2000), I'll be buying this expansion as soon as it comes out. :)
    Final Horn.

    yes theres really only afew used 50+ zones cause of difficulty, drops and accesability. I would like a zone(s) were i can just log in and get some exp without too much hassle ( like a high lvl OT or loio).

    # Mar 22 2002 at 5:48 PM Rating: Decent
    That's not suprising. Verant is establishing a track record in their expansions here. They're alternating between expansions for all levels (Kunark, Luclin) and expansions that are for only high-levels (Velios, Planes).

    New races are introduces in the all-level expansions, as they will need low-level zones to start in.

    I like this system, as it allows them to fill in the high-level content that, at this point, most players crave, while also paying attention to the low-level content as a sort of seperate item.

    Gotta say, Luclin and Kunark introduced some of the best stuff in the game for low-mid level characters (Monks, Bestlords, the great mid-level zones in Kunark, the awesome quests in Lucin, etc).

    For gods sake not only have we had high level expansion pact, then a high level server ( and dont give me that crap that stormhammer isnt cause i just wasted forty dollars to find that out) now we get more zones that sound really exciting and you guessed it, its high end as usual.

    Verant wake up and reliase that;

    1. Not all your customer base is American
    2. Not all your customer base want to pay extra for decent gameplay
    3. Not all your customers spend all their time playing this damn game to level and get uber as soon as possible.
    4. I want to play the new zones and meet my gods but at my current levels there aint much hope....

    .....hope horizons is better (is it stil in production ?)

    I have to say I agree. There is plenty to do for mid-levels as it is. I am currently only forty and it has taken me a year and a half to get there with casual game play. I look forward to the end game experience, however I know that as in any RPG paper or otherwise you have to earn the right to see the wonders of the "outer" worlds. Earn the right to see these things and they will be all the sweeter. Plus we will eventually be at the planar levels, so it is better to have a ton of endgame zones so that there is a whole lot more to keep people busy so that there isn't an over crowding of zones 50+. Plus the trickle down effect is great, how great is it when some kind hearted highbie (newbie, lowbie, midbie, ... ok give me a break)just gives you something they can no longer use. Sure it doesn't happen often but what a great warm-fuzzy feeling you get. Just enjoy the game for what you have instead of envying what you don't...YET, that is the point.

    There is a reason why they made a high level expansion pack full of planar zones.... 90% of the people in the game are over lev 50 now! Verant is smart and catering to the people that are sick of the unbelievably overcrowded zones. At any one time, you can find 36-50 people in Velks, Karnors, Seb, etc. and my server is relatively new in the long span of things. Verant is not going to waste time listening to the complaints that there is not enough for low level people to do, because it's frankly BS. They also revamped the low end game recently for a reason! Gave more rez spells, corpse summoning, evac, etc so that the low end players can get to lev 50 quick and stop draggin everyone else in the game down. They even removed all the hell levels. I feel no pain whatsoever for the people below 50. You all have it EASY now. Equipment is cheaper than ever and there's never been an easier time to level up. I did it without all that crap.

    Basically, stop whining. If you don't like the low end game, then quit playing EQ. Verant isn't going to miss the 10 people that are complaining about it.

    I say let them do it! i want to see lvl 20's get smoked by gods for 500 dmg i could watch that for hours. Hell, I would do the CR part just to see it get done again. Some druid who just earned there last name (shakes his head) Treehugger, runs up to Rallos Zek....I see the beginings of a very viable source of entertainment that could last for hours on end./cheer. Finally RPers will see that RP in everquest just doesnt make any sense. Sorry thats a topic for another time.

    As a druid, I'll be glad when classes other than druid and wizzie can move themselves around.

    We have to either turn on anon or be bombarded with requests to port people. If I can, I will, but it get's annoying having people ask you all day long to port.

    with the nexus portals ,, the Porting biz for us druids and wizards has already been cut into
    RE: bah, nobody picked up this quote?
    # Mar 22 2002 at 9:07 PM Rating: Default
    on the subject of cutting into the porting biz, when it was announced that you'd be able to use the spires as a cheap easy port place, the wizards and druids cast their hands into the air and cried "alas! our monopoly is no more!" and thus VI declaired "nay, for thy biz is thine onw; we shall no more cut into it than we should cut ourselvs." and thus proved that there was still a greately viable business for wizards and druids; for there were a great many places not visted by the Spires, but were visted by Wizard and Druid monopolists. And thus all was made well agian.
    Now VI hath announced that the planes shall have Portals, which shall make it easier than ever to travel, and thus, the Wizard and Druid Monopolists have cried "Alas! we are but ruined again!" but forsooth, for VI has not responded...yet.

    Everyone has to realize that this is just a game and just a computer incrementing some variable.

    Original Everquest:

    You: You have slain a snake!
    You gain experience!

    Computer: Experience = Experience + 10
    if Experience > Level_1_Experience
    {
    Level = Level + 1
    }

    Kunark:

    You: You have slain a Drolvarg Sentry!
    You gain experience!

    Computer: Experience = Experience + 20
    if Experience > Level_45_Experience
    {
    Level = Level + 1
    }

    Velious:

    You: You have slain a Crystalline Watcher_001!
    You gain experience

    Computer: Experience = Experience + 50
    if Experience > Level_55_Experience
    {
    Level = Level + 1
    }

    Planes of Power:

    You: You have slain Ralloz Zek!
    You gain experience!

    Computer: Experience = Experience + 1,000,000,000
    if Experience > Level_70_Experience
    {
    Level = Level + 1
    }

    You have gained a level!
    You are now Level 70!
    A mystic voice tells you "Now what are you going to do! You just wasted 300 days of your life on EQ!"
