Information on Upgrade to DirectX9.0cJun 9th, 2006 at 7:41 AM by Railus

A message from the patcher: ============================================== As you know we are upgrading to DirextX9.0C with the update coming up next week. In order to ensure everyone is ready for this we are going to have a special executable for you to run that will let you know if you are prepared for this upgrade to the servers or if you still need to download DirectX9.0C. If you do need the download, a text box will appear with instructions. The executable is called DirectXTest.exe and will be patched to your EverQuest directory.

my patcher keeps making me re download DirectXTest.exe instead of the play buttom being there it just says download every time anyone know how to fix this

You can find the DXSETUP.EXE in the list of files that you downloaded into (for myself) the my documents.

You gotta download to a folder youre common with. I downloaded into <my documents> which I use all the time. Click browse button to do so. Then click on the DXSETUP.EXE and it will do the rest..Hope this helpful.

In order for the eq thing to run you have to patch and download Direct X 9c from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

Hope this helps :)

P.S. This one is less than 52 megs. It works for me but servers are still down.

I had DX9.0c before this all started, but when they switched out I couldn't play EQ. Turned out that there is diffrent versions of 9.0c. I checked the version numbers before and after, they were diffrent. if you have 9.0c and can't get it to run, try getting the newest one from Micro$loppy.

I have 2 comps, 2 accounts. I got eq working fine on my main that runs XP. The comp with win 2k wont run EQ. The patcher keeps DLing directxtest.exe and giving me the "download" button instead of the "play" button. I updated windows, drivers, and directX. Any suggestions?

I downloaded the patch and am now getting a eqgame.exe error of this application has failed to start because d3dx9_30.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Anyone know what this is about????

Do what they say on the eqplayers forums and download the redistributable version of DX9c, it is a 52 meg file... for some reason it installs the needed file where the microstoftupdate site does not. this file can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=fb73d860-5af1-45e5-bac0-9bc7a5254203&DisplayLang=en

Do you think it will take the full 8 hours they are quoting? 4am to 12am PDT? I would venture a guess that is what is causing me to get the version message. what do you think LOL.

I get the message
"The version of messaging being used is not the same between client and server. This is most likely the result of the client and/or server having been patched. Please try re-patching the client in order to correct this issue"

I have repatched and also redone a full file scan and no go. Any ideas?

Just an additional heads up, if you have Windows XP that uses pirated key code, DirectX 9.0c will refuse to work. You will need to buy a legal copy of Windows XP key in order to install 9.0c

Some people on EQ Live forum had this problem when the test server required 9.0c and discovered the illegal verison can't be upgraded.

While there are way to get around that, the best way is to make sure you used the legal key. If you bought your own version (full or upgrade) from repuable stores or they came installed on computers from repuable stores, they should be OK.
