More Server Merges Coming

Server Merges On March 22, 2005, we will begin the process of merging some of the EverQuest servers. As we have seen from the recent success of the Zek merger, combining some of the EQ worlds is beneficial for players’ experience. In fact, we have been pleasantly surprised to find that the new Zek server now has a higher population than the four combined servers had prior to that merger. We hope that by merging some of our lower population servers with a higher population server, we will continue to enhance your gameplay experience Merging Servers On March 22nd, Antonius Bayle will merge with Kane Bayle and will retain the name Antonius Bayle. On March 23rd, Bristlebane will merge with Solusek Ro and will retain the name Bristlebane. We understand that server identity is important to our customers and we will be integrating server titles into the title system to allow you to display your server of origin, should you desire to do so. Unutilized Character Purge Immediately preceding the merger, all characters below level 10 that have not been logged in for over six months will be deleted from each of the merging servers and will not be available after the server merge. If you have a character on any of the servers being merged that is below level 10 and has not been logged in for more than six months, you will need to log that character in prior to the scheduled merge date for the relevant server. Shared Banks on Merging Servers If you have characters on two servers which are being merged together, you will need to clean out the shared bank on one of those servers. After the merge, only one shared bank will be available on each merged server. Character Limitations If you have more than eight characters in total on two servers being merged together, only the first eight characters (in alphabetical order) will be displayed after the merge. Characters other than the eight displayed characters will not be available for selection until currently displayed characters are deleted. All characters from both servers will remain on your account provided that the character was not below level 10 and had not been logged in within the last six months. Corpses Prior to the scheduled merge date for your server(s), please be sure that you clear any unclaimed character corpses from the world. Character corpses will not be transferred to the newly-merged server. Once the merger is complete, all corpses on the servers affected by a merge will have been purged. Duplicate Character Names It is possible that characters on servers affected by the merge will have duplicate names. In the event that characters on the new, combined server do share a name, the character with the most played time will be entitled to keep the name. All other characters will have the letter X appended to their name and will be eligible for a name change. Characters can use the in-game /changename command to request a new name. The new name is subject to the conditions set forth in our naming policy which can be found here: Naming Policy. LDoN Leader Boards After each merge is completed, as characters log into their newly-combined server, the leader board will be re-populated with standings. Although your points will be unaffected by the transfer, your standing may have changed based on the new, combined population totals. Complimentary Character Move Shortly after each merger is complete, we will allow all customers affected by a merge a one-time, complimentary character move to the server of their choice. For each customer with an account on a newly-merged server who request such a move, all characters associated with that customer’s account will be transferred to the selected server. All characters will bring their items with them in the transfer. Brenlo Bixiebopper Community Relations Manager

[please merge low population with low population servers.

merging high with high is beyound stupid. if you have to do this, than at least clear the economy and put limits on them.

since some mergers have happaned items that were 20p are now 60 to 100p. newbies or new lower chars can not afford anything. the drop rates have not increased to go along with the peeps that are joining. they may be bringing in new items we havent seen for a long time, but the prices are beyound the twilight zone.

with the merges it has created a very greedy economy. virtue was once -what you could afford--now its 100p or more.(want ext kei, outside of a guild, good luck)

but in fairness, there is a FEW, very FEW that the greed as not hit. they go by the "need before greed" policy.

not to mention the LAG has increased and the server crashing or zones crashes because of the high population increase. please soe, join low with low.population. the high populated servers are already having to much trouble with lag and such
merging

dont merge large servers with large servers

WE ALREADY HAVE LAG PROBLEMS AND CRASHES AND REXTHEBUNNY IS RIGHT...the inflations on the nameless server is staggering. low lvl chars cannot get buffs because they lack the funds. only time we get them is if we are in a guild that our members take pity on us and give us free ones. last time i tried, at lvl 56, to get kkei, the person wanted 100p for low lvl kei and 200 p for the ext. kei.........who would want to start a char let alone merge to this server.

KEEP LOW POPULATION WITH LOW POPULATION. BETTER ECONOMY, BETTER CHANCES OF no LAG AND PROBABLY A BETTER CHANCE TO FIND PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GROUP AND SHARE THEIR SKILLS, SPELLS AND COMPANIONSHIP AND FRIENDSHIP. the nameless is becoming a greed before need server.
Xegony
# Mar 14 2005 at 2:07 AM Rating: Decent
I have been playing on Xegony off and on for five years now. When I first started playing there were people in every zone I went into. Now, hot-spots like Greater Faydark, Shadeweavers Thicket, and pretty much all the newbie zones are dead.
It looks to me that the majority of low level toons are alts of higher level players. Sony needs to do something to get new players back to EQ1 and I think the mergers are great.

I did recently make a new toon on the Starpyre server being that it's one of the newest. I found that all the newbie zones are well populated with new players. I feel this is because it is one of the three "suggested" servers at top of server list.
I do NOT want to have to move to another server just to find people to group with. Xegony is DEAD and very boreing to play when starting new toons that are not twinked and power leveled by guildies.

Used to be that we could check the population/popularity of servers on the server window. Why can we not do that anymore?

PLEASE merge Xegony with another server... ANY server would do.

Please Please Please merge the Nameless with someone I started playing a few month's before EQII came out no problem finding a group getting a raid going, GETTING A TEMP, V, CON, Fo7, or any othere buff for that matter. now unless I'm paying 10kpp for a buff a Cleric or shaman wont even look at you and forbid it if you ask them for a buff cause they have already got 400 tells asking for buffs from the othere toons looking for them. This wasnt so when i first started playing and i have yes i will say it turned to othere games and am considering leaving EQI cause of this. So pls as it was mentioned before in anothere post merge small server with small server.

I just want to comment on the upcoming merger dealing with my server, sol ro. Sol ro is one of the oldest servers out there, I think it is one of the origional ones that was available the first day eq came out. Yes we have seen some decrease in the last few years I have played there but there are still plenty of groups to go around and traders selling stuff. I am not understanding the whole lets merge Sol ro with Bristlebane, a very populated and inflated server. Why would sony merge a medium populated server with a high populated server. In my mind it would make more sence to merge lower population servers together and leave the high population servers alone. Who really wants to deal with lag and sever crashes due to over populated zones, not me.

I am just hopeing sony reconsiders this merger before going through with it. It will create more problems then needed and my guild of 400 plus our 6 allied guilds could lose out tremendously if more decide to cancel thier subscription to eq. I dont want to lose anymore friends, high lvl and low lvl, anymore. I have seen to many take off to other games and other things because of something sony has done. If you want to merge us, please do it with a underpopulated server and not a high populated server.

Terris-Thule is not really that dead. Four or five high end Guilds and it is usually not too difficult to get a buff in PoK. It is mostly a high end server though. Not may lower level peeps are on line and those are usually alts.

I guess the other PvP servers where you couldn't get killed at level 6 by level 70 guys it was ok to merge but people on SZ got screwed to the max, cause now they have nowhere near the AA's and stuff that the toons on the other servers had. Not only that, gear that I have on my toon on SZ was uber for server now it is barely even worth having, needless to say all my guys will be moving off Zek to my server and all that time I put in is just a waste now. Thanks Guys! I think I will actually be putting about all 8 of my accounts up for sale as this game is dead and 6 years of getting screwed is enough. Cheers!

Yup I agree if they are going to merge servers they should allow for more toon slots....or as another idea how about if I trade 2 for 1. ie 2 slots on a sever I do not play for a slot on a server I do play on. I wonder tho...its kinda nice not having to wonder about being able to get a partivular Camp

wheres the rest?
# Feb 28 2005 at 12:53 AM Rating: Default
So what about the rest of the servers that have dribbled to ghost-town populations? (*cough* 7th hammer *cough*)

I realize they can't merge them all at once but crimey, don't leave us hanging with no info. I'd like to know if my server is staying skeleton-mode for a couple months or 12 months. Talk to us SOE!!!

<rant>
On a similar topic, how about putting the population back in so we can have an idea about how things are going on a given server. I realize they'd just rather the impatient pay hundreds of bucks for multiple account server moves but thats just poor customer care. Many people are multi-boxers anyway...it's not like we don't pay enough already. I plop down enough money every month to re-buy EQ1 with all the expansions every time. How about taking care of your dedicated players.

BINGO!! someone with a clue. i have only been on eq since dec of 03 but have seen a bunch of changes. some good and some not so good. i started on fennin ro cause, back when the population was posted, it was a middle or the road populated server. before the launch of eq2 and wow you had to wait for 10 to 30 mins just to be able to start trader mode. now, there is always less than 300 peeps and ususally around 200 to 250. not being part of any guild nor really caring to as i dont like the whole mandatory raid and participation thing, it is hard to find groups to do certain things. there are some ldon spells i would love for my 51 druid but i cant even get a group to do any. please look at 1) putting back up the server population so we can if needed see where we need to change to or 2) combining the smaller servers. on a good note, i am very pleased with some of the recent graphics upgrades. i love lavastorm. so sony, here it is. the people are talking again. if you want to keep up numbers you would be advised to not cramp larger servers but beef up smaller ones. also as i have friends and some characters on test, do more "advertising" for that server and maybe offer some incentives for playing on it.

actually, they have more statistics on us then you think... They probably saw more old accounts re-activated too.

A PvP server with very few people seems a bit weak... I'm sure with a boost in number of players, many more PvPer's are happier.

I don't mind server merges/splits... it keeps the population healthy.

This isn't true, actually. For a while, my guild existed on both Solusek Ro and Firiona Vie, and both branches had the exact same name. However, the name of a guild is considered the property of the creator, so this could only occur if the guild's creator created a second branch on another server. I'm not sure how guilds like this would be affected, but I doubt it will be an issue.

I have been gone for a while now. With all the hype of all the new games out, sitting at my desk staring at STILL unexplored expansions in EQ1, I am concidering starting up my two accounts.

My biggest question is, is there a list of ALREADY merged and PLANNED MERGES available? I will look on Sony's site. So that I can anticipate a merge, and or log in one time soon knowing what to anticipoate??

I've heard that bazaar prices are a lot higher on the Bristlebane server. Is that true? Sounds like that will adversely affect us "poor" Solusek Ro players. Can anything be done to avoid this?
RE: Prices
# Mar 04 2005 at 6:07 AM Rating: Decent
As a longitme player on Solusek Ro I created a charcter on Bristlebane to look at some things and here is what I found. I didn't look at a whole lot of stuff but what I did was very close in price to our own. One exception I saw was Muramite Runes were 11 to 12k while ours are 20 to 25k. Oddly Minors and Lessers are in the same range as ours 20 to 25k. Solusek Ro has always been a higher price server I have followed that through the serverwide Wizard channel and our prices have actually risen on some items due to rarity.
I did note on a Sunday afternoon 130 players in PoK where we have about 60. 239 in bazaar where we have 120.At night I see 300+ in bazaar. All this considered it looks as though the population will be about what ours was before the mass exodus.
I don't know where people get the groups are readily available thing unless you are 65+ that is not the case. My 56 Ranger used to get tells all the time to join groups even when I was just tracking for my Wizard. Same with my 40 Rogue all I had to do was log on no LFG necessary but that is no longer the case. IF (<---BIG IF)I get a group at all it is with friends trying to level their alts and those times are rare. PoP advancement is almost non-existant if you do not have a high level already in a guild that raids high end zones. This also has contributed to the low level population being so low many have just given up.
What we have left is a high level population and noone moving up which in itself is the kiss of death imo. People retire and none is moving up to replace them which means eventual complete death of the server.

ECONOMY CHANGES :

I was on all 4 pvp servers before they combined and became ZEK. Every server has it's own sepcial economy driven by supply and demand. Everyone, knows the phrase but pay little attention to the impact it has upon the economy.

Let me give you some examples of differences from what I have seen on the 4 pvp servers.
1. The smaller population servers tend to have more people doing Tradeskills. This can have a huge effect upon the buying and selling of tradeskill supplies and made goods. This will have a positive effect for everyone.

2. Zek is still enjoying an economic BOOM that I have never seen on any of the many servers I have visited. I think the reason for this has to do with the overall lowering of prices of everything. Items that are uncommon or rare on any server tend to be overpriced or slow sellers because of the price. With a merger you start to see what appears to be a large supply of uncommon items in the bazaar. This is a Illusion because the population is larger. Nevertheless, Prices tend to go down because of this Illusion with sellers trying to under cut rival sellers.

Lower prices = More Sales.
More Sales = Better Economy overall.

Greedy vendors hurt markets. Sure someone who is rich can afford the prices of the Greedy Vendor. But after buying expencive items from greedy vendors leaves the rich guy low on cash to spend on other things that will help other players. The merger has made Greedy Vendors a non factor because the supply is much greater.

Look forward to the merger.

Take a trip to the server you will be merged with. Check out the prices of everything you that you buy and sell normally.

Look for differences. Stock up or sell off depending upon where you sit. Think, Look, Research. Just know the folks with the big bucks will be going on shopping spree's and this will help everyone.
RE: Prices
# Feb 25 2005 at 5:13 PM Rating: Decent
I have never played on another server except Bristlebane. Yes the prices are ungodly. I was on the serverwide necromancer channel once and I found out that a spell I was saving-up for only cost 7k on one server, but on the Bristlebane server it cost about 35k. I've never known it any other way being that this is the only server I've experienced, but with all you Solusek Ro people mixing with us, I'm willing to bet that we Bristlebanians will experience price drops and you people from Solusek Ro will experience price increases... it's only logical. It will be good and bad all at the same time, but I'm know everything will smooth-out in the end.

EDIT: By saying that things will be good and bad simultaneously, I mean that I will be extremely wealthy at the time of the merge, but my income rate will suffer. You on the other hand will be poor, but you will gain money that was probably unheard of on Solusek Ro. At this rate I will most certainly loose money from my bank but yours will expand. Eventually we will all run on the same economy level. It only takes time. In the end everything will be equal. The prices are different, but the value is the same.
