EQ1 dying off
# Oct 16 2004 at 6:26 AM Rating: Decent
I have only been playing a year and it has taken me forever to get a 59th level char, with twinkage how minor it may be, I really don't want to start all over just for better graphics. sigh but it seems like all the Big Dogs in the guilds are going to ((those with DSL Connections )) is EQ 1 going to just die off ??? since there is no char transfers / conversions or is going be for just peps with low net connections like dial up or sat links ? Hmmmm 8-( not looking great so far , but the GRAPHICS LOOK AWESOME, I m not a beta tester so i can say this stuff LOL we will have to see what happens i quess, should i put on the cash for Omens if EQ2 is going to take over ???
EQ2 Tournament?

Is it just me, or does this tournament sound like an opportunity for Sony to balance the zones, characters, etc.? You have 25 experienced EQ2 Beta players, who presumably know the game, all competing to see who can make the most powerful character.

If the EQLive tradition continues, the class and xp route of the first prize winner will be nerfed before the game launches. The more I hear about this game the more I am wanting to cancel my preorder.
Why?

Okay I will play everquest 2 for the simple fact of it all I want to try a new game and be level 1 again with killer graphics. The game looks great. But I truly hope that they work on there customer care issues they have. Its not the worst I have seen in a mmorg. The worst was lineage 2. But thats a long story. Still they need to host more events and maybe play the game?
Possibly before release make sure it wont go down for a 8 hour patch after it releases. hm what else.. Well stay away from any of the problems star wars galaxies had upon its release. We can only hope they learned from that. It shall be interesting to see what happens over the next few months and see how well people take to the game. Anyone know if there is going to be pvp servers on everquest 2? I hope so but it probably took them awhile to put them in on everquest. Well we can only hope they do something right.

Take care,
Dreamsend

As far as I know they don't have any plans for PvP in EQ2 at this time. Check the FAQ at everquest2.com.

Edit: My appologies for the FFXI sig, I can't find where I would turn it off atm. If it means anything I mainly use the FFXI Job Forums, but I am still back and forth from EQ to FFXI and visa versa.

New Orleans Fan Faire An Opportunity Not to Be Lost
# Sep 25 2004 at 8:40 PM Rating: Decent
Maybe we'll have an opportunity to express our views in person if SOE has a Fan Faire on the West Coast. Hopefully Las Vegas again. More people should speak out about the direction Sony has taken and the way it affects their game, for we are the ones paying and playing.

I am not going for EQ2 I have yet to enjoy all 8 expansions of Everquest.

I am watching to see how Sony is going to handle this situation without it costing them a customer base and an enormous investment in hardware. The developers really are not installing anything new, they're just changing the level of difficulty. Then they add a different shaped character for the Everquest players to target.

As You said hopefully the players of Everquest will be vocal in the various meetings in New Orleans regarding dissatisfaction about the way Sony is addressing the problems it has developed to become the largest Internet Role Playing Game currently on the market.
Expansions ?

LOL I know several beta players, who without violating the NDA have ALL assured me that they WILL NOT BE migrating when EQ2 goes live....
None of them will or can legally go into specifics but suffice to say that reserved attitude by a BETA PLAYER has ensured that I won't be in line to migrate as well. Sadly much of my guild is on lower end connections and PC's, many of them have no other connection alternative, and can barely play the original game anymore due to the 'added' frosting and eye candy. In the race to produce SoE seems to have lost the core development team and ideals that made the original game worth playing flaws and all. Granted EQ is still the best mmorpg in the states, but COH is fairly good, but being the best amongst a crop of sour lemons WON'T get people to MOVE OR ADOPT, it will JUST retain...Hence I see EQ2 adoption being a VERY SLOW process, and SoE losing patience and cutting back on EQ, which far from encouraging people to move from EQ to EQ2 will casue them to quit and finsd some other alternative to play. Most people who are borderline are hanging in QE because of the amount of time and effort invested, if they have to give it up to move to EQ2, that will be the same as breaking the addiction for many who will just quit...SoE does not have the draw or reputation to bring a whole new player base to EQ2 I honestly believe that...If they lose a chunk of their EQ base AND many of those players DO NOT GO to EQ2 they will lose BOTH markets. Sony is losing its shirt on SWG currently, their beta population for their expansion is DECLINING, which is a REALLY BAD SIGN, but they are NDA as well so all we know is MANY MANY players do not find it worth pursuing, EVEN FOR FREE...

Here's hoping for the best, while expecting the worst...
Jaded, with BURNT FINGERS in California

As for a fan faire, I really hope someone respectfully conveys the general feeling of DISGUST for customer service, I see and feel in game, as well as the prevailing attitude about the smoke both Smedely and ChadH have been tossing about regarding the 'new' improved customer service tools and support. I personally am afraid to goto New Orleans for that in the face of the 'standard' PR dance and song routine I won't be able to retain patience and I will go 'postal' on one of the PR reps or sales people, or some SO-CALLED DEVELOPER, who has marginal programming skills, marginal imagination, and NO REAL gaming experience or desire.

Just to clear things up here. Telling the world that you are in Beta is NOT a violation of the NDA. (Moorguard has spoken on this). You are howerver encouraged to NOT tell anyone, since you would probably be indued with multiple requests to discuss the game, which would violate the NDA.

Also, not every Legends Subscriber got an invite. The rules were you had to have an active account from February thru August. I was inactive for 3 months during that period and did NOT receive an invite!

For some reason I just don't think your story is true, also they did violate the NDA if there in beta as the NDA states your not allowed to tell anyone your in Beta or post any questions about even getting your beta account to work out of the beta forums.... Anyways I think your full of it ^^

If by connection you mean there internet speed then the Eye Candy has NO effect at all on that. The Eye Candy is all done by the computer its self.

Second You can turn all the eye candy off if you wish.
