LOL... everyone that plays this game is SO mean!

When I first started playing EQ, there were only a few dozen people on my server, and everyone was on just to have fun: Kill mobs, loot some cloth (if you're lucky), fill an inventory slot, chat with new friends... pretty simple. NOW, you can't even ask an OOC question in the game without 2 or 3 negative comments coming back to you about your spelling or "noobiness". This game WAS fun, but its quickly losing its flavor. Don't NICE people ever play EQ just to have a little computer gaming fun and chat with people from around the world? That's why I play the game. Otherwise, why not just play Morrowind; a game where you don't need to deal with people and downtimes?

Believe me, I am not a tree-hugging, liberal, bleeding-heart, priest with a propensity to spread goodwill among the flock, but SHEESH... lets lighten up and have a little fun. Help out instead of ignore... Say "Hello" instead of \finger "what are you looking at?"... Teach a newbie how to fletch instead of saying, "figure it out or look it up on the web." This game is supposed to be a light & frothy social artifice... a way for people to gather with a common interest in their spare time. It should not be used to flex the muscles of your overplayed icon or be mean to people that cannot see you. I find it hard to believe that anyone who plays is really as powerful as his or her EQ graphic. And if they are, and can, in fact, resurrect the dead or something, that's great, just keep it to yourself. AGAIN... lets lighten up and have a little fun =)

Ok, for you guys out there crying all the time about not being in a guild that is ele or time flaged, get a clue. These Guilds are the top guilds on the server. We dont look for players that want to solo all day or just want in for a crack at loot. We look for players who have experiencing in groups, know how to play their class and play it well, can listen to and follow instructions. You think we have it so easy? We work and work and work for our flags. And work even more to get other guildies backflaged so that they can join us. And to make matters worse, u think you have a tough time trying to find 6 people to do something with. Try getting 72+ people to be someplace ontime, prepared to go, focused on the task at hand, and to work together to accomplish the goal. Sitting on your but for an hour waiting for people to log in, get to the zone, officers to make up specific groups if needed, etc... can be tiresome. And as to loot, lol you guys would cry if you saw the things that just rot on mobs corpses in the plane of time.

I will agree that Sony needs to do something for the more casual player. suposedly LDoN adventures can be done with only 3 people in group, but i have to admit i have not done these so I dont know how realistic the adventures are of being completed by 3 people.

If you're wanting to get into an "UBER GUILD" make some friends in the game. Go out and group as much as you can and learn how to work together. If you are interested in a particular guild, ask a member of that guild for their web site addy and go and look at their recruiting requirements. And yes you will see that most classes are closed to recruiting, but post your interest anyway and check back often. Even the uber guilds have a turn over rate. Focus on the AA, lvl, play times, and flag requirements of the guild and try your best to meet them. Gear is mundane. If you raid enuf and bank some points and spend wisely, you'll be changing out all your gear soon anyway.

If you're waiting for one of these guilds to seek you out and say "Hey, we want \ need you in our guild. We will get you all your flags and your choice on loot!", you've got alot to learn about the game. Yes alot fo the game is "Who you know" but who you know dont mean squat if you dont know anything. "What you know" is just as important if not more so. "Who ya know" can get your foot in the door, but "What you know" is all thats going to get you that guild invite.

So get up off your ***** quit crying, do something to better yourself and make you stand out. Persistance and learning from your mistakes is the key. I'm sorry if I sound harsh. But the "Woe is me" crap is getting old.

One more note if you are seeking out flags \ keys \ etc... most servers do have some type of an alliance with middle class guilds. These guilds while not strong enough on their own to do VT, ele zones, band together to accomplish the task. Seek them out, if your guilds not in the alliance, talk to your guild leaders about trying to get in it, or forming one of your own.

I have played this game off and on ever since the first expansion. Im sure this will upset alot of people, but I have found pretty much the key to success on this game is simply who you know and how much you play. I can't hardly get anything done cause #1 Im not in a elemental flagged guild, #2 almost every evening I go out, and evenings is only time about any guild will do anything (least the ones I have been in). It isn't hard to get into a decent guild, but what few guilds are elemental flagged on my server don't ever invite anybody into there guild seems like.

I have had a few posts in the past shooting down the pop expansion cause there is so many zones in it that I Feel the average EQ player will never see (elemental planes, plane of time, etc). So sue me if I don't appreciate paying $30 for a expansion when I pretty much use POK and rarely first teir planes. I rarely use POP cause its just so blasted boreing. Just killing the same stuff 1 at a time that has 0 loot. At that point some plane of time flagged person comes in and of course gives me a low post # first off, then he says its nothing to get flagged for those zones. Well tell that to the 1000's of EQ players who are in guilds that are struggling just to get BOT flaggs.

I enjoy playing the game, don't get me wrong. I disagree with alot of things though. To this day I do not understand there class balance system. A level 55 cleric can put /lfg POV ONLY and get a group and get massive exp. But a 55 warrior tries for a group in that zone he is going to be laughed and told to level up in POI to 60. Then there is the fact a level 45 druid can kill 4 dark blue mobs a time and then have 5 minutes downtime and then do it again, whereas a 45 warrior MIGHT be able to take 1 if they have super twinked armor. It would be a big might here, and even if they did there going to expect about 30 minutes downtime. Yup thats real fair.

Anyways thats my rant, guess I could say a few possitive things now. I don't mind the $13 a month fee. That does add up, but really in the long run I save money with it. When I wasn't playing EQ I was buying AT LEAST 1 $50 a month that would generally keep me entertained about 2 weeks. Now that I am playing EQ I hardly ever buy a game at $50, I either wait till it drops down in price, or just don't buy it at all. Id say the next full price game I buy will probably be Final Fantasy 12, which is not due out for probably another year.

I dont think you all see Jimbox's point. He makes a very valid arguement. Lets face it, druids, wizards, mages and necros are solo classes. They can level at a higher rate than warriors. But on the other hand, it is true that a level 55 warrior cannot: 1) hold agro in PoV or 2) stand up to the punishment the mobs deliver there. I dont think they are being mean when they say "level to 60 in PoI".

It is comments however like the 2nd response that is irritating.

"why would we want some newbie just prancing in there and getting some high end piece of equipment when we have to work hard for it."

Some people just dont have the time to sit on the game all day and get to this point. I dont know about you but it took me a long time to get elementally flagged. With 80 percent of the players in the game not being flagged for the EP, there is really no reason to call someone a newbie. I think it is rude. You should be happy where you are in the game rather than make someone feel lesser about themselves because they are not where you are.

Good luck Jimbox in your levels and gear aquisition for the higher end game.

the reason a 55 warrior wont get a group in PoV is because most aren't strong enough to tank monsters thand double in the 500's a cleric only needs to complete heal

Well SOE already answered your problem, to enter Tier 2 planes ( Plane of Storm, Plane of Valor, Plane of Torment, Crypt of Decay) You only need to be level 55 and up, no need for a flag, and you can now enter Bastion of Thunder at level 62, and you can enter Halls of Honor, so its worth it to pay the 20$ for a expansion. And yes if you want to see elemental planes you need to work for it, just think about the lewt that drops there, why would we want some newbie just prancing in there and getting some high end piece of equipment when we have to work hard for it. Either way, once you hit 62 you can enter alot more planes, so just level =)

Have you ever estimated time it will take for a team to do a job....

You sit down consider all that has to be done and get a fair estimate of time you double that time and tell your boss...

but, you fail to factor in that they hired a few temps to make the job go quicker...

3 out of the 4 temps are awesome but that 4th would have done better sleeping in that day because he screws up when your are almost done and causes you to have to practically redo everything from the beginning...

You and your team miraclously figure out how to fix the mess with just a small overage of time from what you told your boss (luckily you doubled it - never for get to double it) but over the next few days you find problems that were missed when you were scrambling...

I don't work for sony or any computer company, but it has been my experence in the past.

Just my 2 cents
