Official Rogue Class Trailer Released

Back in January, Trion World released a warrior class trailer to give players a glimpse at the calling during the Rift closed beta events. Today the team has released its second class video, and this one focuses on rogues. It shows off three different soul builds:

  • Death Dealer: 31 points in Assassin, 19 points in Bladedancer, 16 points in Nightblade
  • Teleporting Sniper: 39 points in Marksman, 17 points in Riftstalker, 10 points in Saboteur
  • Group Support: 31 points in Bard, 18 points in Nightblade, 17 points in Ranger

So all you rogues out there, what are your thoughts on these builds? Remember, you can always create your own builds using our Soul Tree Calculator.

Whether you're a current Rift player or on the fence about entering Telara, the video's worth a look to see the rogue in action. Check it out below!

Don't care about the build the vid uses, I just like the videos Trion is producing!

I'd really like to know where to find that music. I think it's awesome.
Group Support

I would not recommend the listed Group Support build. So many mistakes in that support bard role. It doesn't even have Anthem of Fervor. If someone is going to be a support bard, go 51 points for Verse Of Joy. For mana heavy groups, it helps keep downtime to a minimum. For melee heavy groups, it helps burn phases or when you have a lot of adds.
Eww

Assassin(10), Nightblade(31), Riftstalker(25) Rogue

I've always loved playing rogues, was a favorite class of mine in WoW and now in Rift. I'm currently building a melee rogue class that focuses on plane shifting abilities from the Riftstalker tree, attack power increases, critical hit damages increases from both the Nightblade and Assassin trees. There is quite a bit of survivability in this build due to the endurance increases, ability to plane shift, and a couple shields you get as finishers and after plane shifting. It's also a very cool build to play, you'll never be bored while running through all your spells and getting stronger with each hit you land.

We can't possibly comment on the builds without links to them. 31 points in the Bard soul? Okay. WHICH 31? Because you know you can put FIFTY ONE in a single soul.

Please don't ask for opinions on builds that we can't examine other than some nifty gameplay trailer. :)

Please nobody use these builds. They only take single points in skills in order to appear to fill out more of the trees than they actually are. And while I can appreciate the 17 points in Ranger in that Bard/Nightblade/Ranger build, the 18 in Nightblade could have stopped at 8 in order to get more from the Bard tree. Stopping at 31 is just bad when you get Anthem of Fervor at 32. I don't like 10 points in Saboteur for the sniper build, either. 1 more point in Marksman would have given another teleport.

Bard/Ranger/Nightblade

Currently running as a bard/ranger/nightblade spec for leveling. So far I'm having a lot of fun and the survivability is pretty awesome. I can take down 4 to 5 same level mobs pretty easy if I manage the aggro properly with my razorbeast pet and keeping him alive. AOE damage + AOE healing rocks. Buffs that boost crit/attack power/health/+healing = versatile class spec.

I've tried Marksman/Ranger spec and had a lot of fun as well but so far since I started playing about 2 weeks ago, I'm having fun being a support bard. Its so sweet that this game lets you change your role by adjusting your souls. Its nice that a rogue can be a tank or a support healer if need be, rather than be stuck DPSing.
