New Unannounced Zone Added

Thanks to a tip by Renah of The Nameless and Torowan of Morell Thule, I headed over to Jagged Pine to the part marked on the EQ Atlas map as a blocked tunnel. It's blocked no more. It is a new zone called Nedaria's Landing, which must have been added with the last patch. From what I can tell, the zone is much like Jagged Pine in makeup, but a somewhat lower level - maybe lower 30's. The zone is mostly forest, with a huge cliff cutting across the middle and some cool looking waterfalls. There is a wayfarer camp in the NE corner of the zone, but no merchants or adventures. However, Morden Rasp is there. When hailed, they talk about constructing a new ship. I am not sure if this is a new LDoN zone still under construction, or just a regular new zone that didn't get announced.

AAdventure theme

I think that the adventures will somehow relate to shipbuilders, Or some type of water creature.. Maybe even have the rat races like someone has previously mentioned.. They need Shipbuilders and Supplies to build the ship that will carry all of norrath. So I am assuming that the adventures will have us collecting supplies for them, possibly even a whole new Slew of quests that will require killing In Dulaks or anywhere else that has pirates and water themes.. Just my 2cp though

Once the wayfarers camp is up and running people will be able to access the zone through porting via the magus' cast then can have there fun in zone w/o treking through jagged pine.

Eyes to the Sea

The leaders of the Wayfarers Brotherhood -- Morden Rasp, Nedaria Debeian, and Tondal Di'Xevar -- stood together in the East Commonlands tunnel, looking over the heads of jolly Wayfarers Brotherhood initiates to where Calliav sat quietly in a darkened corner with his back to the commotion. For days, Calliav had been fiddling with a stockpile of mystical gems and stones that brotherhood members were turning up. For the past few hours he had been arranging the gems and stones in runic patterns all about him and mumbling incantations like none had ever heard.

"Calliav sure 'as been quiet of late, ain't 'e? I wonder what's goin' on in that wild mind of 'is, hm?" Morden said as he glanced from Calliav to his closest friends who stood facing him.

"He is greatly troubled Morden, but he's also doing his best to find us answers...even though we already know some answers he seeks," Nedaria's eyes turned to the floor as she uttered the words.

"Now Nedaria, chin up, eh? The time will come for us to tell Calliav more about ourselves, but for now we must focus on these tales and visions of peril that 'e keeps spoutin', hm?" Morden suggested as he rested his scarred right hand on
Nedaria's gently sloping shoulder.

Tondal interrupted.

"Morden, my logic tells me that Calliav must be going mad again. That side of my mind just can't fathom that we are in any great danger," Tondal paused a moment before he caught Morden with the intensity of glowing violet eyes. "But, I confess, my heart tells me that all he says is true. It also tells me that Calliav and this unseen foe he speaks of are what brought us together in the first place."

"Aye Tondal. I know ye are a big believer in fate. I won't dismiss what ye say, but I think we're best of friends because we have like hearts, not because of grand design...but then, perhaps I'm more salty than I ought to be, eh? I been thinkin' there's a brambly path ahead of us, me friends, but I 'ave no doubts that we'll find our way if we stay true to each other, hm?" Morden grinned in his usual optimistic fashion.

It was then that a blinding flash of blue light filled the tunnel. A shockwave of magic followed it and blew everyone off their feet. In an instant, Morden, Nedaria, and Tondal found themselves tangled together on the tunnel floor next to a wall.

In the aftermath, an eerie quiet saturated the tunnel. Soon after, groans echoed throughout the caverns as everyone gathered their wits and stood up, all eyes reflecting confusion and concern.

Suddenly an agonized cry broke the stillness. It was a familiar voice.

Morden was on his feet and moving before anyone could discern the source of the pained wailing. He was running toward a faint glow at the back of the tunnel. It was Calliav.

As Morden approached, his jaw dropped in surprise and horror. An eerie light pulsed out of Calliav's skin as he lay writhing on the tunnel floor.

"NEDARIA! Get over here please, NOW!" Morden yelled. It was seconds before Nedaria forced her way through the growing crowd of onlookers.

Nedaria stopped still when she saw him.

"I've never seen anything like this Morden. Ever," she said, as she started to kneel next to Calliav, afraid to touch him.

Calliav shuddered and choked out some words.

"Mord...en...Morden...hear me..."

"What is it sprite? Are ye alright? Ye look a darned mess mage," Morden said, trying to lessen the biting mood of fear in all of them.

"I've seen... ahh... our... path. You... mu... must... build... great... sh... ship... bigger... biggest... all of Nor... Norrath must... make a journey," Calliav curled up and coughed. The magical light from his flesh began to ebb some.

"A ship? What is this? We've already got the Thorn of the White Rose, me friend. Why would I need another?"

"Trust in...me. I have seen what we... must... do. We are making... a... journey... as one... west... one purpose... all must come together. Please... we must... be... quick... doom... death..." Calliav's voice trailed off and his eyes rolled back. His body went still.

Nedaria forgot her reservations and bent over Calliav, resting her hand on his forehead trying to read or sense what happened to him. As she focused her mind, her eyes shut so tightly that deep wrinkles carved into her weathered face. Tondal pushed his way to where Nedaria and Morden stood, his eyes settling on them both, flickering with worry.

Nedaria's voice was muddled and trembling as she spoke from under her robe's hood, still crouched next to Calliav.

"He's gone. He's drawn within his mind, I believe. I can't reach him and I doubt anyone can. I must say, I do not know what to make of this at all, except one thing Morden," she stood up and faced Morden and Tondal. "We must do as he asked."

"I won't question ye Nedaria. Not now. I've not seen anything like this meself," Morden stated firmly. Tondal nodded as he rubbed his aching shoulder that had slammed into the tunnel wall with the blast of magic.

Just hours after Morden put his adventurers to task, Wayfarers Brotherhood scouts returned to him with a perfect location to build a ship. Morden had made it clear that the Wayfarers Brotherhood wouldn't be building just any ship, but one as big and as beautiful as any of Norrath's cities.

Not fully understanding the purpose of his new ship, Morden felt he should spare no expense. He put out a call for the best and brightest of Norrath's engineers and shipwrights to be ready.
Surefall Glade access

I checked this zone out last night and one rather disturbing fact: I can't find how to zone back into Surefall Glade from Jaggedpine Forest.
The gemstone in SFG leads into JF. The 'stone in JF that used to return you to SFG now takes you to Nedaria's Landing.
Zoning back from the entry to Nedaria's Landing takes you to the tunnel near the potameids.
There is also a new entrance in the basilsk/"good" gnoll caves, which is actually IN the rocks and under the water behind the waterfall behind Oracle Jaarl. But zoning there just takes you to BlackBurrow, the same as the 'stone in the caves.
Hopefully, this will be fixed soon.

I loc-ed it. Even noted the landmarks. Came back to N1797.7, N1656.6, nada except rocks. Clicked on every damn rock in the vicinty, nada OR eqclient.ini crash. Log back in, repeat, ad nauseum including climbing the wall with same results, nada or eqclient.ini crash. Finally surrendered and gated out as soon as i was logged into the zone.

Im on Veeshan server, going to spend a lot of time here until I find out most of its mysteries. If anyone on that server feels like exploring, send a tell to Juion.

P.S. Isn't everquest supposed to be a roleplaying game, played it for over 3 years and no roleplaying

All I can say is .. sweeeeeeeet.

As a ranger, and a player who came to EQ very late in the games history, I have never been able to get in on many of the zones at their inception (many of the newer ones are just too darn high in level for me).

Starting with Luclin, every new expansion is allowing me more opportunities to be among the first in a zone to explore as a ranger should and have fun doing it. I am just glad there is one more outdoor zone worth going to, too bad that most, if not all of them have no XP modifier like dungeons. Even so, I hope that Sony keeps them coming. Can't wait to get home to try this one out.

Upon reading the 'storyline' in the game, it said that Calliv (who conviently goes into a coma after this vision) tells the Wayfarers that they had to build a boat... a HUGE boat for all to get on to go on a journey. Reportedly a boat as big as a city!

Opens up possibilities..

Well 2 of the 3 wayfarers are in the zone, when you talk to Morden He tells you how he and Nedaria are more than friends. I think the next thing to do would be to find Nedaria and ask her about morden or the new zone (might be a quest).

Hunted there for a couple hours in wolf form. Just like Jaggedpine, no adds. Griffawns dropped meat, bears, wolves, and panthers dropped pelts, none below medium quality. Also, a few no-drop animal specific items dropped while I was there.

It is not showing faction hits but they are there, when I returned in to Jagged I found my rating for the critters had gone from indifferent to "Could not get any worse" and I'm definitely not liked by the town folks either. Not KOS but they won't deal with me now

Correct, not a single faction hit. And the only thing KoS to wolf form that I noticed was the sea turtles.

Definitely going to be a new LDON dungeon coming up at some point in time, I'm hoping it's Gnoll themed (I still can't fathom why they didn't have a Gnoll themed one in original release, Blackburrow is one of the most popular zones ever, fit all their criteria). Morden Rasp is there.

Zone itself has a few interesting points. There's a small cave complex filled with Cavern Grizzly's and a Magnificent Grizzly (didn't drop anything special, but I'd guess it at level 38-40, other Grizzly's probably around level 30-36). The ocean is using new water effects that look really nice, I hope all zones have this texturing used as opposed to what currently exists.

Most of zone is either aggro animal mobs like Grizzlys, Silverfur Wolves and some cat I didn't catch the name of, or non aggro wildlife like Sea Turtles and Cove Frogs.

Probably would be an EXCELLENT zone to level in with a small group of 30s. Due to sheer volume of aggro and small size of zone, a group would be preferable to manage adds, but Druids/Rangers could probably have a field day soloing here (I would imagine this could be a new solo spot for Druids/Rangers ala Stonebrunt).
RE: Explored most of zone...
# Nov 06 2003 at 4:24 AM Rating: Default
One point though, the faction is probably that of Jaggedpine Forest. All the bears and the wolves con amiably to me, so killing them would probably effect your faction status in JPF. All other mobs conned, indifferently, dubiously or threateningly to me. griffawns, true to nature attack you upon sight.
SFG portal
# Nov 05 2003 at 7:37 PM Rating: Decent
Either by mistake or design trying to port out of JP to SFG ported me instead to new zone, it is also accesible from the cave at far end of zone kinda close to poacher camp across the river. Zone out to BB still worked though.
Which blocked tunnel?
# Nov 05 2003 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
There are 2 blocked tunnels in JPF. Which one are you referring to? The one by the Potameid Tunnels and one inside at the back of Oracle Jaarl
