Horrifying Terrorist Attacks on the U.S.

This is not game news, but is more important. I am putting this up here because many people are trying to figure out what is going on and this way we can share what we know. Here's what I know so far: - At about 8:45 a plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. 14 minutes later, andther plane crashed into the second tower. - Another plane crashed into the Pentagon soon after that. - A bomb went off at the State Department. - Both World Trade Center Towers have now completely collapsed, presumably killing everyone who was unable to evacuate in time, and also the firemen and police who were at the towers trying to help people evacuate. - Another plane has gone down somewhere in Western Pennsylvania. Possibly just a coincidence or possibly an attempt to hyjack it to another target. Words cannot express the horror.

To My Son...
# Sep 12 2001 at 7:01 PM Rating: Excellent
To my son, You are only 3 months old, so you don't realize what happened yesterday. Your "world" was still the same: Mommy was gone to work before you woke up, but Daddy fed you w/ the milk Mommy left in the fridge. He changed your diapers (over & over), changed your clothes (drooled on, or worse), talked to you, maybe sang, washed a few loads of clothes, watches some TV....if he wasn't laughing w/ you, you didn't notice. You didn't care that Mommy didn't play w/ you as much as normal, when she came home to nurse you on her lunch hour, that she held you just a little tighter & a little longer before going back to work. You probably noticed that when Mommy came back again, Daddy didn't go away like normal, but you just enjoyed that Daddy didn't have to "work" today. Your world was still the same.

So today I will make you this promise....

When you are older I will teach you about what happened yesterday. I will save the newspaper for you to read & let you watch the video your Dad made from the news reports. I will try to explain to you how God can let something so awful happen & how people can be so evil. I will try to explain how some people in the world will hate you, simply you are *fill in the blank - it doesn't matter what exactly you are or do, someone will hate you for it,* but that we should not judge others that way. I will teach you to be an American. I will teach you believe in this country, we may be wrong (& probably often are), but we try to do are best. We do not hide our faults, forbiding our citizens to disagree w/ the government, pretending to the world that we are perfect. We admit our problems, we discuss them at work, at school, on the internet, & the evening news. I will teach you to read the papers & watch the news so you can discuss our country intelligently.
I will teach you to stand still w/ you hand over your heart & sing proudly "The Star Spangled Banner" at sporting events. I will teach you respect for our flag & fly it on our house for all to see. I will teach you to repsect the men & women who are willing to put themselves & their families second, who risk their lives to protect the rest of us & I will teach to encourage the government leaders to increase the salaries of these brave people - firemen, police, rescue medical & the military don't do what they do for the money, but it is one way we can try to thank them.
I will teach you to give to your community. You will not understand yet, but you are going w/ me when I give blood on Saturday. Hopefully you will be a good baby & I can spend a couple hours helping answer the blood bank's phones. There is always a way to help, with your time, money or thinking of other ways. I will encourage you to give blood, sign an organ donor card, & get listed on the bone-marrow registry. I will teach you first-aid/CPR.
Your father & I named you after a man we both believe was the greatest general in the American Civil War. I will teach you that you should respect life (even in war) & try to avoid hurting innocents, but that sometimes war is necessary....a short period of ugliness for the greater good, & that if you choose to serve in the military (like your daddy & I did) that you behavor honorablely in whatever situation you find yourself.

I promise you that Mommy will do everything in her power to help you grow up to be a strong, kind, intelligent man. I pray that when you are older, you can help fight the evil we humans sometimes unlease upon ourselves. Not quite a year ago, I started crying as soon as I realize that I was pregnant, not because I had any doubts of having a baby, but I because I realized that you were a gift from God. Nothing I have every done, or ever will do is as important as helping you to become a person who will make the world a better place.

All of you who are screaming for vengeance against terrorists and not caring how wide the net is spread, I have one thought experiment for you. Imagine if our buddy McVeigh had bombed a target in, say, New Delhi, India. Are the Indians then justified in wiping Seattle off the map? Wouldn't it be better if they carefully gathered evidence so they could tell who helped him, instead?
RE: Imagine this
# Sep 12 2001 at 7:14 PM Rating: Default
If the US Government sponsored him, gave him money and training, then maybe India would have some justification in nuking Seattle. McVeigh was a genuine nutcase. But at least he operated in a vacuum with no other support that the other nutcases who assisted him.

So, once we figure out *which* country sponsored this set of terrorist, we won't necessarily wipe them off the face of the earth. Let me rephrase that: The government responsible *will* be wiped off the face of the earth. In addition, US policy will probably change such that future governments sponsoring terrorists will also have problems with us.

Terrorism will never end. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Yup, terrorists will feed off this incident, the US will respond, rinse, repeat. At least it'll be orders of magnitude more difficult for them if Saddam all of a sudden finds smart bombs raining down on him every time one of his buddys sets off a car bomb. But hey, that's the new world order.

This particular incident will probably result in the invasion and unconditional surrender of whatever nation hosted these terrorists. The country will be rebuilt with a democratic government, probably paid for by the US, living conditions will improve, etc. And maybe the world will be a little better in the long run, even though the cost is high. Think of it as a long term investment.
don't defend the terrorists

First I'd like to share my sorrow with everyone who was affected by this crisis. I wish everyone well and good luck in the future months of healing for the nation.

Now this post is directed toward that Anonymous guy/girl who wrote the "Try to think a little" post to give some just cause to the terrorists attacks.

I'd like to ask if you are an American? A true American. If you were you would know that we, the Americans, are GOOD and they, the terrorists, are EVIL. Don't ever question that and this is the reason why:

What goes on in the Middle East is horrible. The sick bastards, the terrorists, torture, enslave, murder, violate, manipulate, imprison, and who knows what else to their own people, all in the name of Allah. While making there own people suffer through this horrbile oppression, people like Bin Laddin (or however you spell his name), manipulate, their own people, into believing that the US is the devil and the reason why they are suffering. The reason these terrorists hate us so is because we try to put an end to their tyranny.

This has gone on ever since the Cold War started and ended. And when the United States finally heard of this acts of cruelity that has been happening in many parts of the Middle East, we, being the good natured people that we are, step in to stop this evil. Only in return, we get the "slap in the face, kick in the nuts" treatment (as we always do) and we ended up going into a prolonged out battle trying to save these oppressed people which costs the American taxpayers billions of dollars with no results and deaths of American soldiers.

These terrorist groups have got their own people so 'brainwashed' that they will commit acts of violence against our great nation. There is no end to the horror that these terrorists bring to their own people and other nations. Everyone has now seen the destructive power that these maniacs can inflict and NOW is the time to strike back with the full force of the American army.

I do really hope Bush declares war on these terrorists and use every ounce of man and will power to bring them to justice. And when we do catch these criminals, that should not be the end of it.

The United States has got to make a statement to the now present Terrorist organizations and to the future ones to come. The United States has got to go into the country or countries who were harboring them and bomb them back into the Stone Age. That doesn't mean the use of Nuclear weapons but that does mean, bombing their military bases, bombing their bridges and forms of transportation, bombing their social and enomonic way of life. We need to make the world realize that the US will not tolerate any (excuse my language) ****. Too long has America lend a helping hand only to get spit upon, made fun of, mocked and laughed at, all by the countries we assist in giving billions of American's dollars.

America needs to send a statement to all these fanatics that if you mess with us, you are going to suffer, your family is going to suffer, and your country is going to suffer.

I really hope when they catch Bin Laddin that they give him the electric chair (Lethal Injection is an easy way out for him) and make it a televised execution on every Arabian channel in existance. It isn't going to happen but it would send a powerful statement that would put these terrorists in their place, to cower within the shadows like the wimps they are and to never appear in the daylight again.

(I'm sorry for the anger in which I wrote in, its just the thought of an American giving these evil people just cause for killing our citizens)

The English language is far too limited to capture what my mind, heart and soul are experiencing.

Single handedly, this is the most grotesque and horrific sight that I have ever had the displeasure to witness. A day later, and still I am awestruck and dumbfounded. Slowly, ever so slowly does the bile of disgust and retribution work its way up my throat and into my mouth.

As Bob Dylan sings in one of his songs:

Who is to Blame

I have read many threads, here and other places. Most folks are saying we need to hold those responsible for their actions, as we are speaking of individuals. We are not talking about individuals here folks. We are talking about a whole society. The society that celebrates in the streets while thousands of Americans are killed. The society that harbors those that are directly responsible. The society that sheds crocodile tears for us on TV now, while secretly cheering on those who perpetrated this heinous crime. Benjamin Netanyahu was recently interviewed on Fox News and pointed out that no terrorist activities have occurred anywhere in the Middle East since this incident. Is that a coincidence? No. Why? Because there is a “society” of international terrorism that controls terrorist activities in the region from centrally located places. I am not talking about Muslims as a whole, just those who condone this type of activity. The society is made up of those who perpetrate the crimes, the governments who support them, and the people who support those governments. The scope of “who is responsible” for this crime is huge. We are not talking about just Bin Laden and Afghanistan here. We are talking about the PLO, Syria, Iran, Iraq, the Hamas, and the Hezbollah. They are all to blame here because they support and condone these activities. I am not saying that the causes that these groups/countries support are all bad. Their methods are bad. To remove the threat of International Terrorism we have one course of action, dismantle this society. Make the governments in these countries understand what the repercussions are. Economic, socialistic, and military actions need to be levied on these groups and governments to make them understand that the civilized, free nations of the world WILL NOT BACK DOWN. Simply putting Bin Laden in jail or using cruise missiles to destroy two training camps is not going to solve the problem.
"Pray to God" many say
# Sep 12 2001 at 6:39 PM Rating: Default
Pray to God. God is loving..
Anyone ever notice that the god the palastinians, arabs, christians, etc. is the same one? The different religions just look at different books, different translations. You may say "no no way.", but I think it's high time you admitted the truth to yourselves. Those americans like myself who don't worship any version of God man has created and those that worship other gods are caught up in between a holy war once again!
Don't EVER tell me that the God you worship "loves life"! History is FILLED with petty religious wars where one side thought they had more rights over another persons' life than that person or group of people:
A handfull of children in the crusades sent to take back the "holy city" from the so called "infidels". They were betrayed by the captain of the ship they were on. The boys sent into slavery and the girls more than likely to some rich man's ***** house.
Blankets were filled with plagues during the colonization of the Americas and given to tribes and villages that didn't convert to your "God".
Even today people burn and destroy other peoples' churchs and homes that don't have the same religion as they do. Families are murdered. This happens here in the USA!!

You may say "Oh, but that isn't MY religion that does that. No one from MY church would EVER do something like that."
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE BLOOD!!!
I SERIOUSLY doubt there is a single religion that claims worship to God that can say they are untouched by the things I have pointed out. That no member of their religion has ever done such things.

I'm almost literally physically sick of hearing yet another person getting caught up between religious conflicts then hear one (or even BOTH!)of those religious groups who worships the same God as the other group, just different books, say something like "oh but WE'RE the good guys".

I know I'm going to **** off a lot of people with this post. I know those who say such things as "Pray to God for hope." and "God is loving" here on this site TRUELY DO wish the best for those people and families who have suffered, but ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
Your God is cold comfort to those who know too much truth and the costs of worshipping your God to ever worship Him.

Jake K.

Here again I have sat and watched the action of people that really dont care what happens to others( I sat and watched the bombing in Ok.City and was horrifed( Not as horrified as we all saw it was one of us Americans that did this to thier own Counrty and people(
I have read all that has been posted. Yes I agree to some that the worse thing we as Americans can do is go bomb nuke kill whoever might have done this. They dont care what happens and would turn around and do worse than what took place Tuesday( THEY DO NOT CARE! For what ever reason they have in doing what they have done will really never be known(
That is what makes it sad( Those who were left behind to suffer for the rest of thier lives at the lost of love ones that were not asked to be a part of tourist terror will never know the real reason behind the COWARDS that did this to them, and all of us here in America!
Prayers to all!

I just want to say a few things...The pictures I've seen of people in Palestine cheering when they heard the news of the attacks disgusted and angered me, but then I started to think. Many of the people there cannot even comprehend a building 110 stories tall, much less two of them standing right beside each other. I believe that when this is all over, many of them will be staggered at the destruction and will regret the cheering they did. All they heard was that America the Mighty had been hit hard.

I truly hope that all those people I saw in the video clip feel horrible when they start to read the names and ages of those killed in these attacks. Just picturing the families destroyed by this tragedy makes my heart heavy and my eyes tear up. My heart goes out to the families struck by this tragedy.

May God in his many forms smite all who are guilty of this crime.

I feel that all our thoughts and prayers should be with the survivors, loved ones or relitives, and people who weren't fourtanate enough to make it. First and formost we should lend a hand, and strive to over come this horrible matter. We however do not need to provoke the horrible innsane people who caused this act. If you rember high school history WWI was set off by the assasination of Franz Ferdinan, the Arch duke of Serbia. A fanatic killed him and that lead to Serbia declaring war. Allies were sucked in and the war became a great tragidy. If America were to start pointing fingers, which it already has unfourtanatly, it could cause another world war. This would just cause more destruction. As Albert Einstien said "War has never been the creative sollution to a problem." I understand the great anger does that mean we should go ballistic and start another World War impacting billions of people, leading to a cataclismic death toll?!?!? War is not the answer. Let America stand tall. Let us be the ones to not provoke. What if we wern't just some big, ethnocentric, bully all the time? What if all the other countries looked up to us for peace and help. Isn't that the world we all dream of? You may think what you want i am not telling you to not be upset, or saddend, but please don't try to cover bloodshed with more bloodshed. My heart goes out to those who knew or loved someone killed or seriously injured by this horrible event. My deepest symapthy for all of you. If you disagree i would be willing to discus this matter over a few e-mails please respond and post your e-mail one this thread.

Wake up stupid!!
If we sit on our asses and simply brush off the blood and dust, we will look like the weak little sister we almost became. We have no choice but to go after the evil that would kill people just because they work in a tower. If we don't retaliate hard, swift and complete, this is just the beginning. Do I think that going after these criminals will finish off the carnage in America? Of course not. We have not seen the last of this sort of thing. We will be attacked often. However if we simply say "war is not the answer" the freedom you now enjoy to tell the rest of us Americans how big of an idiot you are will be GONE.
We HAVE to send a message. I do not want war any more than you do. But these people have no love of life. That is painfully obvious as as many as 24 of them gave their lives for this attempt to bring us to our knees(which is what you want).
I hope and pray that we find the people/nations involved in this. I hope and pray that we obliterate them. I want no more loss of life. The only way to accomplish this, unfortunately, is to take life.
I cry when I see what has happened. I cry when a car bomb goes off in the middle east. I will cry when we attack and kill others. Then I will celebrate my continuing freedom that was brought about by that bloodshed. Just as it was 200+ years ago.
If you wish to respond, that is fine. But I have said my piece. And I do not think you have the inteligence to argue with me.

" Do not bomb us, the poeple of Afganastan are already in misery and an attack would only make the Afgan poeple hate you more" (this is the brief version as I remembered it trying to steer my car back onto the road). It is time we replace the hate with fear, real fear. They will never like us and obviously dont fear us at this time. Nostradamis has been quoted numerous times today and so be it, If WW3 is to begin , let it begin now while 90% of the world is on our side. Lets win it, decisively, violently, permantly. I, like many of you, sat in front of my television set on Tuesday watching with disbelief and finally rage as the events unfolded. Truly, we are at war.
Unfortunately, it has taken an incredible tragedy like this to, as the Japanese Admiral said after the Pearl Harbor bombings, wake a sleeping giant. Only now do we, as Americans, know what the Israelis feel each day. They go about their business with so much courage, not knowing whether some lunatic will blow himself up in the restaraunt in which they are eating.
We cannot just stop with the monster who did this. The civilized countries of the world not only have the ability, but the obligation to stamp out ALL of the groups that feel that civilians, men, women and children, are a valid target for their attacks. Anything less would be a diservice to those people who lost their lives Tuesday.
Countries that house and support these monsters must be held accountable for their actions as well. Excuses will not work in this case. The only way for them to remain unscathed is to hand over every member of each of these groups, or if the members prove to be hard to find, allow the other nations of the world into their country, with their full cooperation, to do it for them.
Lastly, religion is not an issue, in this case. There isn't a single religion in the world that would advocate the slaughter of innocent civilians in this way.
On a semi-related subject, if the reports and speculation coming from the crash site S.E. of Pittsburgh are correct, we should all hope to have the same courage and heart as those who, seemingly, regained control of the plane long enough to auger it into the ground in an unpopulated area.
My condolences to all that were affected on Tuesday.
NEVER FORGET!

Obviously terrorists think with no consequence for their actions, and it seems to be humurous to see all these terrorist sects all firmly denying any responsibility. Guess they didnt realise that if their plan went through..and it unfortunelty did..they are going to be facing declerations of war not only from the world superpower America. But England, Germany, Russia and all US allies.
Today a member of congress made a remark to US Citizens not to be offended when our retalitory attacks take out civilians. I would be DISGUSTED to see any hippie liberal to condemn any action of ours when..and it WILL..kill civilians. Watch CNN..and look at all the ages of the people dead..2 years old, 4 years old..teenagers..Then watch the Palestinians dancing in the streets. Any country who is responsible for harboring these terrorists be fore warned. Carpet bombing will comence...And I have no mercy to any country who would sponsor such a inhuman act. These hard line islamic terrorists are not human, they do not have a civilized human soul. I equate them to a tribe of monkeys swinging in trees. Freedom will have its revenge and justice served.

Most of these terrorists are happy to die for their misguided belief that any action they take in their "holy war" against the "decadent Americans" is perfectly acceptable. My thought though is, would they still think it acceptable to be maimed, tortured, and mutilated (but left alive) for their "holy cause"? In my opinion, Vlad the Impaler was right!!

Let me say me 2c, and if u don't like it, don't read it. I think that this was not a race issue. It was Osahma Din Ladin, one of the most wealthiest men in the world and his religious followers. These people are basically a cult, and he acts like their dictator. He trains his troops highly, and they r all trained and armed with automatic assault rifles. He is tied to no country. He has no allies in a time when allies are most needed. America will surely kill this man as soon as he is located, and all of his followers will either put up a war, or be taken into custody. None of this would have happened if our airport security was correct. We allow plastic knives and boxcutters, as long as someone doesnt find them threatening. Hell, if you have plastic guns with plastic bullets on you, the metal detectors cant pick those up...and a plastic bullet from point blank range CAN kill you instantly. But no, that wasnt the case, it was plastic knives and box cutters, and yet noone had the courage to step up to them, they were small weapons. I think this is sad and is because of a security issue. Security at airports and security within ourselves. Neways, thats what i have to say. Hope this stirs up some of your emotions for the better side. I'll talk to everyone later. Good luck America, and God Bless us all

And as an American I am more than willing to hunt down whoever did it myself.
But please keep in mind that at this point there is not yet evidence of any country backing this attack. Yes, the hijackers were all of arabian background, but please don't judge an entire race of people for the actions of a few sadistic sociopaths. The ambassador to the nation of Saudi Arabia just made a speech adressing that point.
This is an atrocious act and one that certainly demands retribution, but let us focus that on those that deserve it.

You missed it by a bit. The reason that these Dictators, cultleadres, put us up as an evil is to get their poeple to rally around them. All their problems, poverty and such are the fault of the United states. Leaders have done this throughout time. From the killing of the first christians , to the Jews in **** germany, It is even a part of modern US polotics (its called class warfare). It all meets the same goal, to unify the poeple against a common evil, then get them to act apoun it. Hate can be a powerfull tool, so can fear... These poeple already hate us. If they can do worse to us they will. While you sit back singing Give Peace a chance, The rest of us will be pushing for revenge.

Learn what REAL terrorism is? If we, as a civilized world, sit back and allow this sort of attack to just occur and not organize some sort of retribution, then you will truly know what real terrorism is. At that point we might as well pack it up, sell all of your belongings and find a nice big mountain to live on, peeking out your shuttered windows, wondering when the next attack will occur. And occur it will.

Not organizing any retaliation will only spur these monsters on. As I said in an earlier post, ALL the nations of the world must crush ALL of these terrorist organizations, their funding, make it impossible for any country to WANT to harbor them. We must hunt each and every one of them down like the dogs they are.

You mentioned something about launching nukes and their nuclear capability. That seems to be something that you know very little about, so let me clear it up for you. The only countries in the world with a true nuclear capability are as follows: The U.S., China, Russia, the U.K., France, India, Israel, and Pakistan. Of those, India and Pakistan have only rudamentary knowledge of their creation, and have no transportation devices. Iran and Iraq have been actively seeking nuclear capabilities, but do not have it yet. My research comes from the State Department's website.

Blackest Day

September 11th was probably the worst day of my life. As I watched the events unfold I remembered some of the same feelings I felt when the Space Shuttle exploded, disbelief and sadness. Then as the day went on a burning rage against those person(s)behind this. Death would be too quick and easy for those who have no regard for any human life and unfortunately the U.S. is too squemish to follow through with the continual torture that my imagination could conjure up. Today, the rage still burns but it has been tempered with resolve and commitment.

Everyone has been comparing this to Pearl Harbor but this is nothing like Pearl Harbor other than it was an unprovoked and unexpected attack. Yes, we used nuclear weapons to end our war with Japan. We didn't use those weapons to get revenge for Pearl Harbor but to eliminate Japan's ability to continue fighting and force them to surrender unconditionally. After the war ended the U.S. was one of the first countries to help rebuild Japan.

I hear a lot of people saying "turn the middle east into a glass lake" or "nuke them back to the stone age" but how can we (U.S.), the symbol of freedom and democracy, justify genocide against an entire people because of zelots and fanatics who can only spew hatred and terror. I believe JUSTICE must be served but revenge only reduces us to the same level as those who perpetrated this evil. The best revenge would be to become more of a light for freedom, humanity, democracy in this world and to never let the actions of terrorist deter us from our beliefs.

The terrorist that did this believed they would be a Martyr to the cause and go directly to heaven. To me the only Martyr's were the people on the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania and the firefighters & Policemen that were lost in NYC. They died fighting for humanity and should never be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims.

To my family and friends I want to let you know how important you are to me and thank you.

I have read some of the posts and I see myself at first, like many was angry and vengeful. I am an Air Force Pilot and you have no idea how sad it made me feel to be flying Caps over our capitol. I felt completely weakened and dishonored, that I had failed. My first instict was that if I had a full ordinance load, I was gonna launch everything I had into the middle east until I was empty, then go back for more. As of this point, the rumors in the service point to that spinless old pric Bin Laden. I know now that even if Afgahnistan is harboring him, due to his help with their civil war and the war on the Israelis, that it is not the Palestiniens fault. They may hate America, but that doesn't mean they did it. America has to be the big kid, we cannot sink to the level of terrorsists, they are slime that I scrape off my boots when I walk down the street. We must show the world that we are the bigger man here and still deal swiftly with these bastards. If they find out that Bin Laden did do this, Don't expect him to live long. We have some of the most highly trained and efficient killers and warriors in the world. And for all of you, something to make you smile in this time of sorrow. Withtin 12 hours, every free terrorist was so scared of our godly power, that they made a public statement appauling the incident. We have them Running Scared folks, and they damn well should be. Blessing to all the families and victims under whichever god/gods you worship.
