Augmentation changes with upcoming patch

Alan VanCouvering posted the following update at the EverQuest Live site: Augmentation changes for Update - PLEASE READ As of our update on October 9th, the Solid Coal of Prowess, Blook Ruby of Understanding, and Ooze-Covered Pebble of Perfection will no longer be valid augmentations. If you had these augmentations bonded to an item, you will find them on your cursor. You can take those items to Dible Hedledrap in South Ro and he will restore your adventure points. IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST have some open inventory space to hold these items! Also, if you zone with those items on your cursor, they will disappear. So when you log in before the update, make sure you have some free space in your inventory. And when you log in after the update, make certain to get those items off your cursor and into your inventory. This change is happening due to an issue with some of the new LDoN items. These three augmentations will be replaced with three similar augmentations that fit into slot 7 or 8. Along with that, pre-LDoN items that were given slot type 1 will now have slot type 7. Essentially, this will mean no change for those with these augmentations in their pre-LDoN items. It will, however, restrict the use of multiples of these augmentations on LDoN items. We apologize for the changes, but these items needed to be more restricted to help maintain game balance. Alan

removing Aug's

Can you get a Aug out of an item ? Like I have a helm I want to give it to another char can I get augs out so the helm will be droppable again?

Yes, you can remove Augment stones.
You must find the proper solvent for the slot type your stone is in, combine that solvent and the augmented item in the birdbath thing, and you will have the augment removed.

As of now, I have only seen slot 1, 2, and 3 solvents for sale.. but I am sure others can be found/made, somehow.

Also, please note that this will destroy the augment gem you are removing. So be sure you really want to augment the item in the first place.

I wish you could and I sugest we should all complain to sony so they patch it so we could pull out aug stone to change upgrade or remove the stone
keep it simple
# Oct 10 2003 at 1:26 AM Rating: Decent

example :
slot 1 type 2 : ( empty )
slot 2 type 3 : ( empty )

apply a type ANY augment

slot 1 type 2 : type ANY augment
slot 2 type 3 : ( empty )

now you can't apply a type 2, only a type 3 will work. but

example :
slot 1 type 2 : ( empty )
slot 2 type 3 : ( empty )

apply a type 2 augment

slot 1 type 2 : type 2
slot 2 type 3 : ( empty )

now apply the type ANY augment

also if you applied type 3 first.

example :
slot 1 type 2 : ( empty )
slot 2 type 3 : ( empty )

apply a type 3

slot 1 type 2 : ( empty )
slot 2 type 3 : type 3 augment

now apply the type ANY or type 2

... uh, huh? Simple? That did not make any sense at all.

It actually DOES make sense, though it is a little confusing, I guess.

The basic premise is that a type ANY aug (an aug that says it 'Fits in all slot types'), it will take the FIRST slot up, in his example the type 2 slot.

If you put a type 2 slot aug in it first, then the type 2 slot will obviously be taken up by the aug, leaving a slot type 3 left.

The opposite goes for putting in a type 3 aug first, it will take up the type 3 aug slot and leave the first, the type 2 aug slot open.
I can't believe it!

36 bard Luclin Backfires
53 ranger Luclin Backfire
some examples..
# Oct 09 2003 at 8:05 AM Rating: Default
okay here example

Royal Attendant Bracer of the Sand
AC:28, Str:5, Sta:4, Agi:5, HP:70, Mana:70, DR:3, PR:3, CR:3, MR:5, type2,type2,type3

1492 points in takish

then add Solid Coal of Prowess
HP:40
(which is a type ALL aug)

then add ANOTHER
Solid Coal of Prowess
HP:40

then once again ANOTHER
Solid Coal of Prowess
HP:40

and suddenly my lvl 65 time flagged warrior has a bracer upgrade with 190 hp on it (just repeat the process for a 220 hp breastplate 195 hp helm 205 hp greaves etc etc etc... -

but hope is not lost.. they didn't change the
Glowing Saphire of Courage
HP:40

which is aug type 2 so you could still slap 2 of those on aforementioned bracer/bp/greaves and push it up to 150 180 and 165 respectively

then you are left with a type 3 slot where you can throw in some regen/dodge mod/haste/aura of battle, or what have you to make the armor respectable but not quite end game.

all in all not a bad change
It is in English people!

I don't understand how people can not understand this. All items from before LDoN came out that had a Type 1 slot now have a Type 7 slot instead. The three Augmentations that are being removed are being replaced with similar Augmentations that just have a more restrictive augmentation type. If you had one of these items augmented on a LDoN item, it will now be on your cursor and you have to return it to the above named NPC to get a Favor Point refund. If you had one of these items equipped in a Pre-LDoN item, then you have nothing to worry about.

From what I understand, there will not be a change to pre-ldon items. The augs that drop randomly in the dungeons fit in any types, they are just restricting the way some of the higher powered augs (bought or raided) fit in with items that can be augmented more then once.
crap

I can see how being able to add a max of 80 mana or hps to NToV range gear unbalances the game, fix that right away SoE morons...

Liveye (lvl 65 Wizard)

PS- Is it just me or is anyone else sick of LDoN yet? No matter what it's just the same zones, models, bosses over and over and the only difference is it takes all the fun out of spawning a rare named or rushing to beat someone else to a raid target. Plus all the dropable and no drop items make use of recommended levels mostly 15 levels higher than they should be. Recommended level is the end of EQ, they chose the lesser of two evils from Trivial Loot Code and recommended level. Too bad both end Everquest eventually...

Only thing that makes LDoN good is the "can we beat it in the time given". But we've been doin that since mario bro.s yea?
RE: crap
# Oct 08 2003 at 5:37 PM Rating: Decent
Heaven forbid that the creators of the game make it the way THEY want. The trivial loot code is so people do the quests at the appropriate level, and not just PL then go back. The Rec level is used to try and kill twinking, so a high level weap can still be sold to a lower level char, and have lower stats but, in theory, be equal to what that level SHOULD be using, effectively giving them an item they can grow into. If there were rec levels on all items from the beginning of this game 5 years ago no one would be ******** because you would all be used to it by now. We are all to spoiled by centi's and an outta control in-game economy.

Oh and heaven forbid that SOE made a game in the way that the PLAYERS want. If the players are paying for the game, then the players will decide what the game should be... not directly, but when SOE messes up, and everyone quits, SOE will realize their mistakes.

Also, if they HAD started out with rec levels, that would solve a lot of problems. But they didnt. So we will *****. Endlessly.

Just wanna clarify some things.
# Oct 07 2003 at 9:21 PM Rating: Default
ok I have read that augs can go up in slot type (ie type one fits in type 2 or lower). Is this true? and if it is then I would kinda like the idea of pre-LDON (since I am mainly outfitted in it) armor receiving slot 7 (now I dont have to get double the AP for the type 3 aug cause I dont have a slot 3 ;). but if not that would kinda stink. Especially since I have a number of augs already that wouldnt fit in my slots (that would really suck). So far I am loving LDON best expansion ever IMHO. I have gotten some awesome drops there and done some nice augmenting but if SOE starts to nerf everything and make augs useless I believe that would force ppl to avoid LDON like the plague.

PS sorry I am anon I was too lazy to login hehe
RE: Just wanna clarify some things.
# Oct 08 2003 at 11:11 PM Rating: Default
I am pretty sure that an Augment with a Slot type can only go into a slot of equal type, other wise a type one would fit into relatively any slot, in which case there would be no need for all-type augments. So a type one can fit ONLY in a type one slot, not type one or higher, and a type seven aug can only fit in a type seven slot, not 7 or higher. This is only my thought on it, with the help of a little logic, but god knows i'm wrong =)

The only nurf that happened are related to the high end hp augs you can buy. With a nice piece of LDoN armor with 3 slots (didn't matter what type since the augs in question where type all) they can boast the hp by another 100 on it. This makes the value of the gear near end game quality. Considering the cost of the augs and the base armor in question its going to have very little affect on players.

And just some info to help you out. Type 2 augs will only fit in a type 2 slot and so on. The only expection is the type all augs.

Well im not sure if i understand this right, but if i am this sucks very badly. That means that all the regular augmentations...+6 sta +5 str +6 fire resist. the normal type 1 augmentations, that commonly drop will no longer be able to be put into the items that we had before LDoN??!?!
I must be misunderstanding this, because if this is true this is absolutly aweful and makes me want to get rid of LDoN
RE: OK
# Oct 07 2003 at 8:49 PM Rating: Decent
The aug's that drop in the adventures are mostly type all (ie, they will fit in any slot), so they will not be affected at all. The aug's in question where marked type all but they didn't want more than one attached to LDoN armor. This change from what I see will not prevent any pre-LDoN armor from using any aug's they had access to.

What?

So, in essence, this means that some LDoN items are restricted from having augmentations in them, and the 3 mentioned augmentations are gone? Also, pre-Ldon items with a slot type of 1 will now have a slot 7 type? So, for example, A Tree Weave with a type 1 aug. in it will only be able to hold type 7 augments? some1 clear this up please!
