Adjustments to Merged Server NamesJun 15th, 2010 at 10:12 AM by Railus

Some adjustments have been made to the names of result servers in the upcoming server merges. Here are those details as outlined on EQLive:

Greetings EverQuest Community!

Based on the overwhelming amount of feedback that we received about the server merges, we reviewed the names of the result servers and will be making a few adjustments. In order to keep the server names consistent, we have decided to put the oldest server name first for each case. This change does not affect the merging servers.

Below is the updated server merge list and result server name:

Many good ideas posted here. Best scenario...Allow players to keep their suffix titles of birthplace, and completely rename new servers through player contest. Allows player pride and a feeling of rebirth. win/win.

I'm just amazed that it matters. You connect, you play. I'd probably only care if they called it "Noob Central" and then I would probably just look at it, shrug my shoulders and log in.

I partially understand why people are sentimental about their original server status and having them fade away from exsistance. But I have been playing EQ for roughly 8 1/2 years and I never really got attached to a server as by birthplace. Things change and servers come and go, but the fact is: the game is still going. That should be the bottom line. It's still here, so why fret about a sever name, or the suffix you can't flash around to others?
Once the mergers happen, if you don't like your new server name - switch to one you do like, or overlook it and continue playing the game for what it is and not what you want it to be or what it was.
That may sound harsh...but I'm just glad that EQ is still around to play. Once EQ fades away, they'll be another MMO to adventure in. Keep the memory of your birth server in your heart and mind. I'm not thrilled about the server merges, either; but it's inevitable so I'll move on and still enjoy the game for what it is, and not what it used to be.

Fennin Ro is one of the, if not the, oldest server in the game today. Fennin Ro was one of the original beta servers and Cazic Thule wasn't even around. So, how can Cazic be list first as the oldest server?

Actually if you look, Fenninro IS listed as SERVER 1

It doesnt say anything about the older server being the one to keep their server name. Its sad for me really... For about 1 1/2 years now I've been on The Rathe server and plan to spend the rest of my days there, but one day I will retire, and when that day comes I was hoping to move my toon back HOME! Smiley: frown

As far as im concerned, completely change the names. Neither of my home servers are included in this and im still not happy under Bristlebane. My characters were created on Solusek Ro and Ayeone Ro. Those names were not included. So change ALL of them

In my humble opinion, I think Sony should create NEW names for all the resulting servers and allow existing toons to maintain the "of <birth server name>" suffix option to commemorate their ancestry.

IMO they should just merge the names of the original servers, or bring back the starting servers when the game kicked off. Everyone is still ticked off that Solusek Ro ended up with Bristlebane as it's name since 99% of the player base was originaly from Sol Ro... Perhaps they could just name the server Tribristle Ro in honor of those being merged. From what I hear there are still tons of the old Solusek Ro players on Tribunal from one of it's many splits.
