Tuesday Patch Goodies

NOW they remove the factory fee after I just picked one up last night that didn't work... hrmph! Hope this patch brings smiles for you.
    Update Notes 8/26/03
  • Changed factories temporarily such that they no longer require a fee to re-deed.
  • Reverted the stats rule changes made Friday.
  • Increased the rate of loot drops.
  • Corrected a problem on the server that would result in invalid resources occasionally being generated.
  • Fixed /eject, such that it only works with player structures.
  • Changed medic XP such that you no longer get XP for healing pets.
  • Fixed a problem where players could apply a bleeding shot to AT-STs.
  • Fixed a problem where a gameserver would run very slow on startup.
  • Fixed a crash in the database server.
  • Fixed a problem where you could dupe crafting components.
  • Fixed an exploit where you could gain unlimited creature handler XP.

So now as a medic.

So now with this change. You too can sit in the medcenter and gain experience. Where when they come in and you heal their wounds, pick up a TEF and get killed 5 minutes later by rebel/imp who sees you with the flag you unknowingly have. And while grouped, just refuse to heal pets. Make the CH take care of his own pet, since Bio-engineer can make pet stimpacks now. I mean why should *I* as a medic, who only wants pistol/rifle/whatever exp sit there and heal your pet during the fight while you sit there and shoot it? I gain absolutely nothing from being engaged in that sort of scenario. The "increased loot tables" don't mean anything to me, the npcs dont drop supplies to make another stimpack, so Im left buying supplies to heal your pet for no experience and no combat exp because Im tied up healing your pet(s) and every so often healing a player.

That's a really good way to get all those medics to become "for hire"...for only 50k you can hire a medic to heal you and your pet for one hour. What a deal!

The ideas these "devs" come up with on a patch by patch basis just baffles me. Next they'll triple the time it takes to get exp and make every npc in the game hit four times harder, because all that beta testing ( I heard they beta tested...although I find it hard to believe ) knowledget gets thrown out the window and the "devs" ***** with every aspect of the game over the first two months. Not FIX, I don't consider getting med exp from healing pets broken, nor do I feel that classes or npc strengths were broken (you all remember when they went down the line nerfing classes and suping NPCs up...at the same time *smart* way to check your theory).

Anyone know where I can call to get my money and monthly fees back out of this game? Or know some poor sole who'd like to buy an account so I can recoup my *wasted* money?


Then what really gets me.....How many times in the movies did you see the characters being knocked on their back repeatedly and being shot to death? I think it'd be kinda hard for the jedis to saber block those shots while they are laying on the ground twitching from all the rounds being unloaded into them....maybe that's why they were wiped out.....knockdowns.

Of course......they had ships and vehicles......and droids that didn't suck.....

So.....what's star wars about this game besides the name?

Ouch... No medical xps from Kali... Oh well I'd almost reached master medic healing my Greater Sludge Panther over the last few weeks with out really trying.

It's about time they killed the redeed price on factories, I know this doesn't affect everyone but hokie smoke I've probably blown 30 - 50k redeeding factories over the last two weeks.

AT-ST's have minds, it's those two pilots in the cockpit. One shot through the window... ZAP!

As for the CH exploit, if teaching it \ takes several tries, that seems just about as much exp as killing city trash with a low-level pet.

I haven't noticed any change in the frequency of loot drops... basically a little more than zero percent. I've noticed I can work and work at a red con and eventually kill it at great costs to myself, but, experience aside, draw nothing but a handful credits.

Not even the fantastic looking weapon being used quite efficiently against me or the exotic looking armor being worn is up for grabs. I loot and draw 11 credits and a handful of pocket lint.

I think it sucks, as I'm trying to become a Combat Medic that when in a group with a Pet it can tank take a huge amount of damage and when I now will go to heal it I get nothing for the supplies and time I took to make stim packs. I think this change shoud be reverted. Next thing ya know they'll take away the ability to heal pets at all...
pet healing

you should not be able to heal your own pet for exp, but other people's pets you have to be able to get exp from. this change is no good for anyone, while in a group with 5 pets and 3 people why would i want to waste all of my stims healing the pets, the only reason why i am with a group is to get the healing exp, i'm not getting anything else out of it. now i hardly even get healing exp from grouping.

Just so you know what was missed here is the exploit.

When you teach a pet a new command you use the \ as the new command. You get a message that says something like "Prose empty slot" or something along those lines. You get the 100ish exp for teaching the new command... but heres the trick. You can now teach the pet that same command using the \ each time over and over and over and get the exp every time untill you hit Master CH. =)

I found it boring and did it like once, then went back to killing tuskans.

The no xp from healing pets does not make medics smile. Players cannot nearly take the dmg that pets can and being able to let a pet tank and get xp for healing it only seemed pretty fair. You dont get xp from healing yourself, you dont get xp from healing pets, next you wont get xp from healing other players =(

The only way I can see this as a goodthing is if they are planning on on creating a profession called Veternarian.

Granted . . I don't know too much about the bio-engineer proffession, but I guess it could be possible that a "vet" prof is already covered.

Heh. I always thought it was sort of funny that you could make a machine bleed. Course, I still think it's odd that an AT-ST has a mind stat...
