While I realize the importance of these updates, they always hit at the wrong time for me. I got today off from work because Tropical Storm Fay shut down most of the companies around town, figured I'd get a good full day of EQ play in... darn the luck... lol

Hey, at least you got a day off work because of her. Wednesday is my normal day off, and a evnding couple months back EVERY Wednesday was patch day for about a dozen weeks straight.

Servers actually finally came down an hour later than expected. Patch notes are as follows:

8/20/2008

Here's a sneak peek at Wednesday's Game Update notes:

*** Highlights ***

- New Hot Zones: Franklin Teek has arrived in the Plane of Knowledge and will be happy to point you to the current location of a Hot Zone appropriate for your level. Franklin also has a series of tasks that can be done in each of the current Hot Zones. Each task can only be completed one time each day and you can only complete one of Franklin's Tasks. The following zones are now Hot Zones with increased experience and rewards:

20 Lake of Ill Omen
25 Feerrott
30 Frontier Mountains
35 Tower of Frozen Shadow
40 Lower Guk
45 Wakening Lands
50 Old Sebilis
55 Blackfeather roost
60 Plane of Storms
65 Sunderock Springs
70 Riftseeker's Sanctum

- Final Living Legacy Rewards: Living Legacy Augments are now available by right-clicking the Abacus you obtained when doing any of the raids you participated in. If you have lost or deleted your Abacus (or need a replacement for any reason) see Distribution Facilitator XCV in the Plane of Knowledge.

*** Items ***

- Moved Battlerager's Strength from Prismatic Savage-Caller's Gloves (Beastlord) to Prismatic Enrager's Gauntlets (Berserker).
- Bard instrument modifiers have been added to many items from Living Legacy group zones.
- The Darkened Enameled Black Chestplate and Darkened Shining Metallic Robes are now infusible, matching the rest of their armor sets.
- The Prismatic Glyph of Loyalty is now usable by High Elves and Erudites.
- Added tribute values to most SoF dropped items.
- Increased the AC for Ring of Molten Alloy and Perpetually Spinning Gear.
- The Blackburrow Hunting Bow now has a range. It appears the gnolls rather missed the point of a having a bow in the first place.
- Swapped the incorrect AC values for Ancient Husk Leggings and Steel-Studded Leather Leggings.
- Living Legacy Augments are now available by right-clicking the Abacus you obtained when doing any of the raids you participated in. If you have lost or deleted your Abacus (or need a replacement for any reason) see Distribution Facilitator XCV in the Plane of Knowledge.
- Fixed an old issue that prevented several helms from being tinted with dye.
- The ranked Augmentation Solvents on vendors throughout the world have been replaced with a standard unranked solvent.
- The Ornate Gnoll Hide Lariat has had its spell proc replaced with one that does not have a knockback. It will not stun as long as before, but will do more damage.
- The Skullstepper has had its race restrictions removed. Any race with classes that can use it will be able to equip the item.
- A handful of previously broken spell effects on items have been changed to function properly.

*** Quests & Events ***

- Reduced the lockout timers for the Soulbleeder and the Bloodmoon Prophet raid from 5.5 days to 4.5 days. This will not change for those that currently have lockouts, but will affect any new lockouts given for those raids.
- The scarecrows in Hills of Shade have found their straw at last.
- The "crystal phases" in Big Bynn's raid should now last a full minute in duration.
- 'The Broodmother Event' in Crystallos will now move all corpses to a safe location when the event resets.
- The search for Donna in Hills of Shade has become a bit more complex.
- The chest reward for 'The Three Brothers' event in Frostcrypt will no longer look like a person. The bears in Wulfnor's event will continue to look like bears. Snozzberries will remain unaffected.

*** NPC ***

- Many NPCs that previously had corpses that would never "unlock" to allow people who did not get kill credit to loot them no longer have that restriction and will now unlock normally.
- Distribution Facilitator XCV in the Plane of Knowledge will be happy to replace any Living Legacy Abacus items you may have lost or may be missing.
- Kalim'Kar the Gold in Dragonscale sells a container that can be used to convert Glowing Prismatic Runes into Whirring Clockwork Runes, and/or convert Whirring Clockwork Runes into Humming Finsternacht Runes.

*** Spells ***

- SoF Rank II global spells now drop more frequently.
- SoF Rank II global spells are now weighted to drop more often for classes with a higher population.
- The Whirl till you hurl spin stun line is now linked on the same timer.
- The Mana Flare spell proc line is now linked on the same timer.
- Aurora of Morrow has been modified. It now heals all members of the Paladin's group, consuming no more mana than is necessary (up to the cap) to heal the group members, and preferentially apportions healing to group members that need it the most.
- Battle Frenzy now correctly checks the health of the Berserker using the ability, not their target.
- Tears of Qandieal now destroys the target's mana and inflicts damage based on the mana destroyed.
- Nature's Burning Wrath damage over time spells will now stack, in the same manner as Nature's Blazing Wrath.
- Speed Focus Discipline has been moved from reuse timer 2 to timer 10.
- The heal over time component from the Ward of Tunare and Skin of the Reptile lines should no longer have stacking conflicts.
- Unholy Aura Discipline will now double the damage of lifetap spells for its duration.
- The duration on all versions of Necromancer and Shadowknight Lich spells have been changed to a standard one hour.
- The damage over time component of Harm Touch will no longer "stack" with other Harm Touches.

*** Tradeskills ***

- All tradeskill recipes intended for Seeds of Destruction have been disabled until Seeds of Destruction is released.

*** Tasks ***

- Fenden Helter in Dragonscale has received new instructions from some of his clients and some of his combat related tasks have been modified.

*** Zones ***

- The level requirement for Theater of Blood has been lowered back to 68.
- Franklin Teek has arrived in the Plane of Knowledge and will be happy to point you to the current location of a Hot Zone appropriate for your level. Franklin also has a series of tasks that can be done in each of the current Hot Zones. Each task can only be completed one time each day and you can only complete one of Franklin's Tasks. The following zones are now Hot Zones with increased experience and rewards:

20 Lake of Ill Omen
25 Feerrott
30 Frontier Mountains
35 Tower of Frozen Shadow
40 Lower Guk
45 Wakening Lands
50 Old Sebilis
55 Blackfeather roost
60 Plane of Storms
65 Sunderock Springs
70 Riftseeker's Sanctum

wow... seems like there's no REAL good day to take off and guarantee gameplay then. Last year I was burning alot of excess leave, taking both Thursday and Friday to give a long weekend. Thursday was either a patch day, or they always took the servers down to fix something that went wrong on Wednesday.

I'm not complaining, as I was also off Tuesday (also due to storm). Nice thing was the day shot by, and i wasn't occupying myself worrying about damage from the storm. Today since the servers dropped, i find i keep going outside under the awning and looking around trying to find damaged areas, or looking into neighbors yards to see if they're surviving.

Guess i just need to find something to occupy me until servers are back up around 4PM. Maybe I'll finally load up and play that Madden 09 i bought last week.
