Quests for West Karana

A Rather Large Problem (Normal): This task begins with Guard Gregor. This is a short task / time to complete - unlimited.

(Task text needed.)

1. Go to South Karana and kill 10 Elephants
2. Collect four small tusks
3. Deliver tusks to Roatal Frostreaver (also in South Karana, near centaur village)

(Reward text needed.)

Reward is 3pp, 4gp, 3sp, 8cp
While hunting experiance was approximately four blues. Completion experience was approximately three blues.

This was with a lvl 20 Druid. Tracking was handy to find elephants but if you sit on the north bridge long enough then enough elephants wander past eventually.
Blessed Oil (Normal): Brother Estle may be found in Western Karana on the road as you enter the plains from the Qeynos Hills.

You say, 'Hail, Brother Estle'

Brother Estle says 'Greetings, child of life. The way of the [Prime Healer] shall set you free and cleanse your soul. I hope to see you at [mass].'

You say, 'What Prime Healer?'

Brother Estle says 'Rodcet Nife is the Prime Healer. His way is the path of healing and life. There can be no true life until your soul is healed by healing others. This will take you into the eternal when your time comes.'

You say, 'What mass?'

Brother Estle says 'Mass is not being held out here as yet. I am waiting for the [blessed oil] from the Temple of Life. You may attend services there.'

You say, 'What blessed oil?'

Brother Estle says 'The blessed oil is necessary during services. It is blessed by High Priestess Jahnda at the [Temple of Life]. If you are going in that direction, please stop at the temple and remind High Priestess Jahnda that brother Estle is waiting for his blessed oil.'

You say, 'What is the Temple of Life?'

Brother Estle says 'The Temple of Life is the center of worship for the followers of Rodcet Nife. It is located in North Qeynos and is one of the greatest temples ever created. Be sure to visit and attend services.'

Now journey to North Qeynos and find the Temple of Life (looks like a flying saucer hovering above a pond). Priestess Jahnda is inside.

You say, 'Hail, Priestess Jahnda'

Priestess Jahnda says 'Welcome to the Temple of Life, where the will of Rodcet Nife, the Prime Healer, is carried out. I am the High Priestess Jahnda. If you require any training in our ways, please talk to any of our priests or any of the paladins of the Temple of Life.'

You say, 'Brother Estle needs the blessed oil.'

Priestess Jahnda says 'I do not distribute the blessed oil of life. Please speak with Nomsoe Jusagta. Tell Nomsoe that Brother Estle needs the blessed oil.'

Nomsoe Jusagta is standing outside against the wall. Saying what Priestess Jahnda told you to say doesn't get you anywhere, but following his quest dialogue does:

You say, 'Hail, Nomsoe Jusagta'

Nomsoe Jusagta says 'Greetings and welcome to the Temple of Life! The healing of the world shall begin within. Let me know if you have seen a [new disciple of life]. I have a task which needs to be attended to.'

You say, 'I am a new disciple of life.'

Nomsoe Jusagta says 'It is good to meet a new follower of the Prime Healer. Remember that we must defend all life. Disease and poison are the enemies. Within Qeynos we work hand in hand with other guilds. I seek an acolyte to [deliver a flask].'

You say, 'I will deliver a flask.'

Nomsoe Jusagta says 'Our allies, the Knights of Thunder, have requested that we aid their followers in the Plains of Karana. We have a few young acolytes working there now. Take this blessed oil to Brother Estle. Follow the path to the plains. He shall be waiting for you by a tree alongside the path.'

You receive a Blessed Oil Flask, which identifies as "Blessed Oil of Life." Take this back to Brother Estle.

Brother Estle says 'Thank you. Now I may cleanse the bodies of the new converts and help them enter into a new life. I also have this. It was given to me by a dying gnoll of all things. They belong to Brother Hayle. The gnoll's last words were 'Free him.' Make sure High Priestess Jahnda gets this. Be swift!'

Priestess Jahnda says 'Oh my word!! This is terrible news. This belongs to Hayle Mool. He has been captured by the Splitpaw Clan while in Karana. You must go to his aid. We cannot do so at this time. Here. Be sure to hand him this summons. I will need to speak with him.'

You receive a Temple Summons, which identifies as "Summons For Hayle." The text of the summons is, "Brother Hayle, I command your presence in the Temple of Life. Abandon all current missions and return at once. This is the will of the Prime Healer. Priestess Jahnda."

You say, 'Who is Hayle Mool?'

Priestess Jahnda says 'Brother Hayle Mool is one of our finest clerics. He could convert anyone to the ways of Rodcet Nife. Recently, he has been out in the [Plains of Karana] trying to befriend the [Splitpaw clan]. I pray he has not become their prisoner or even worse, their dinner.'

Priestess Jahnda doesn't respond to either phrase, so head over to Brother Hayle in South Karana and give him the summons.

Brother Hayle says 'I am needed!! What am I doing here? I must return to the Temple of Life to commune with the Prime Healer. Rodcet Nife will give me more strength to finish this job. Thank you, young one! Take this key as a reward. Turn it into Tyokan in the temple shop. Safe journey to you!'

Return to North Qeynos and find the temple shop. You'll have to wait until daytime to find Tyokan Mekase. At night, Whysia Flock takes his place.

You say, 'Hail, Whysia Flock'

Whysia Flock says 'Good evening, ______. Feel free to take your time browsing. The temple shop is open night and day for your convenience. Most clerics need access to their [scroll strongbox] at all times.'

You say, 'What scroll strongbox?'

Whysia Flock says 'The scroll strongboxes are kept here. They are used by the temple clerics to hold their valuable scrolls. I tend to the 30 and 40 numbered boxes and [Tyokan] deals with the 20s. Presently all are taken and the waiting list is quite long. If you are here to turn in your key, then please do so. I shall get your scroll for you.'

You say, 'Who is Tyokan?'

Whysia Flock says 'Tyokan Mekase is the day merchant here at the temple shop. He usually arrives around eight in the morning or so.'

Once Tyokan is up, hail him.

You say, 'Hail, Tyokan Mekase'

Tyokan Mekase says 'Please look around. We have many items exclusively for the members of the Temple of Life. We also have [scroll strongboxes]. If you are unsure of what an item is, feel free to ask me.'

You say, 'What scroll strongboxes?'

Tyokan Mekase says 'The scroll strongboxes are merely personal safes. Most of the members use them. I am afraid all are taken, but if you are here to remove a scroll, merely hand me your key and I shall get it for you. I handle all 20 numbered keys and [Whysia] handles all 30 and 40 numbered keys.'

He doesn't respond to any text involving "Whysia," so give him the key.

Tyokan Mekase says 'Oh, turning in your key, are you? Very well, defender of life. Here you are.'

The reward is a random cleric spell. Reward: Spell: Ward Summoned
Reward: Spell: Greater Healing
Reward: Spell: Inspire Fear

This is a short task / time unlimited.

The only road left for someone like you is the road less travelled.
Its high time you extended your reach, which is why you should take the
opportunity to explore the library on the ground level.
Heck you might even enjoy the adventure.

1. Go to Highpass Keep (just need to enter the castle to get next step)
2. Go to the north gate (just need to pass through it)
3. Speak with Brettaru Tyco in Eastern Karana (head for the barbarian
village in the south, she's nearby in some huts)

Upon completion:

Now wasn't that a rewarding experience. Wasn't it satisfying to expand
your horizons and explore the world, truly your time spent here was
rewarding in and of itself. Then again if its not, you did go see the world on the word of a stranger, so there's np harm in a reward thats a bit more tangible.

Reward is 3pp 4gp 3sp 8cp
Experience approximately three blues.

Task completed with a lvl 20 druid.
Danger to the North (Normal): This task begins with Guard Gregor in Western Karana, at +955, -1915. This is a Short task.

You say, 'Hail, Guard Gregor'

Guard Gregor says 'I'm only looking for those individuals who are strong of character and lack the fear of the world as is so common these days. A [task] completed and well done is all I care about.'

You say, 'What task?'

You have been assigned the task 'Danger to the North'.

The world is growing at an alarming rate and there aren't enough plots of land available for everyone and their livestock to live in. That's why it's up to you to find some new plots of land. Your first target is going to be nearby, which is why you need to explore the human village south of the gorge. You'll know once you arrive if it's a good piece of property or not. [This task begins in East Karana]

Head to the human village at +1335, +2625, just south of the entrance to the gorge.

Your task 'Danger to the North' has been updated.

That wasn't the most hospitable place in the world, especially not for a family, but there are plenty of other locations you can visit. This time, why don't you explore the ancient statue in the center of the gorge? You're bound to get lucky sooner or later and find a suitable living spot.

Go to the Gorge of King Xorbb and find the statue at the very center (/loc?).

Your task 'Danger to the North' has been updated.

Pox Soth says 'Thanks for contacting me, ______. Your information on this matter has been most useful.'

Your task 'Danger to the North' has been updated.

Sadly, you couldn't find any plots of land that were suitable for living, but don't fret. It wasn't your fault, just the fault of overused land that hasn't been taken care of nearly well enough. In any case, here's your finder's fee, even though you didn't exactly find anything. Your services may be called upon again soon, but if they are, try not to disappoint, okay?

You say, 'What scarecrows?'

Henina Miller says 'Yep, those scarecrows are snarky. I've told Cleet more than a few times that I'd like to cook their heads into a pie, but he won't let me get near them. Oh, there was a recipe book that the Hutchison's gave us as a gift that described how to bake five different wisp lightstones into a scarecrow head to make it glow. Ah well.'

You say, 'Who is Cleet?'

Henina Miller says 'Cleet is my husband. He is a hard worker and provides for the kids and me.'

Hand in a Sack of Hay, which may be found lying around the field. Watch out for scarecrows.

He even snatched his Grandmaster's Vial! Master Hanns was so furious he grabbed one of his old blades from his collection and jabbed it at the wall so hard it shattered! I really need some help replacing all that was ruined or I have a feeling Master Hanns is going to send me on a suicide mission!'

You say, 'I will help you replace all that was ruined.'

Renux Herkanor says 'Fantastic! I need to replace all those old poisons, the vial and that old scareling blade. I think the bottles had the following written on them Bane, Burn, Essence, Sloth, Rage, Swiftness, Disorientation, and Dimethyl. Please hurry!'

Guardian of the Farm (Normal): You're going off to uncover what these lands have to offer. It won't necessarily be easy, and there will be those that want to stop you from uncovering anything at all, but you've got to be resolute in your actions. To start, you need to explore the second outpost in the gorge to Highpass Hold. Once you've done that, a courier will be sent with more information on the next step!

Step 1: Explore the second outpost in the gorge to Highpass Hold in East Karana

The location you want is -2300, -3740.

Oh no! You’ve been waylaid by monsters! Get rid of them so you can get back on track! Quickly, kill 10 gorge hounds and be sure you loot 4 Wolf Meat so there's no evidence of their deaths, in case others come looking for them.

Step 2: Kill 10 gorge hounds in East Karana.

Step 3: Loot 4 Wolf Meat in East Karana

That was an exciting distraction, but you need to focus and redouble your efforts. You need to get back out there and explore the farm houses in the west. There's a whole wide world out there just waiting to have its secrets uncovered and you're perfect for the job.

Step 4: Explore the farm houses in the west in North Karana

The farm house in question is at -2130, +1980.

You've got to admit that uncovering these secrets is exciting. But you're not done yet. You've got one more spot to explore before you call it a day. Go explore the farm houses along the shore in the east, then you can think about heading home.

Step 5: Explore the farm houses along the shore in the east in North Karana

The farm house in question is at -1480, -2050.

Drat! Your attempt to hide the evidence wasn't enough and now their friends are after you. You've got to stand tall and kill 10 pincer beetles before they kill you!

Step 6: Kill 10 pincer beetles in North Karana

You did well. You should take the evidence you collected and deliver 4 Wolf Meat to Brynnsu Frostreaver so they have a record of what went on today.

Step 7: Deliver 4 Wolf Meat to Brynnsu Frostreaver in East Karana

Exploration isn't all fun and games, as you discovered today. You need to always keep a sharp eye and an even sharper mind on everything around you so you aren't easily surprised. In any case, so you can take care of any battle wounds or resupply, here's a small stipend for today's work.

Reward was 10 platinum, 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 copper

Hyrill Pon says 'Peh! He thinks this old skull he found is a legendary skull of Wun Toque. It is said, a wizard who possesses one is granted power and intelligence far beyond those of his peers. Yiz was searching for the skull's missing ruby eyes. It seems he found the location of the first eye. Hmm... Lynuga... Lynuga... I think I have heard that name before... Yeah! Now I remember. I met her in the Foreign Quarter of Neria... um... Highpass Hold. She was there trying to hawk some stolen gems! I think she mumbled something about going home to Grobb. The second eye is called a 'Ruby Pendant' and can be found on a gnoll shaman named Kurrpok Splitpaw who spawns in South Karana.

Put the two ruby eyes in the Hollow Skull and hit combine. This will turn into a Jewelled Skull, which is a half decent held item.

Give the Jeweled Skull to Hyrill Pon

Ryshon Hunsti is located in West Karana, on the shore in the southeast corner.

Hail Ryshon Hunsti

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'Hello _____. What brings you to the Karanas? Do you seek [enlightenment]?

You say, 'I seek enlightenment'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'Ahh, i could see by the look in your eyes that you are looking for something more than just enlightenment. Perhaps you are looking for a [sword] crafted by a noble man.

You say, 'What power?'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'It is an instrument fashioned together by noble man. It is said to be blessed by the gods themselves. Only a man who comes from nobility may wield it. Do you seek the [sword of nobility]?'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'I see, then take this note to Kanthuk Ogrebane. I've been told he can be found fishing not far from the dwarven city.'

He gives you Note to Kanthuk.

Travel to Butcherblock Mountains to the boat docks. Once zoned in to Butcherblock; follow the path to the city and follow the path to the dock but on the north side. Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Hello'

Hand Kanthuk the note and get some experience.

You say, ' Who is Amstaf Trunolis?'

Kanthuk ogrebane says, 'Amstaf Trunolis was a good man. I've followed into [battle] many times. We've seen many of our friends die by the sword of others.'

You say, 'What battle?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane laughes, 'I remember the first time we charged into battle. I was so scared. My hands wouldn't stop trembling. Amstaf pulled me off to the side before the initial attack began. He held my hands within his. I saw his hands begin to glow and felt his energy pass into me. I felt [courage].

You say, 'What courage?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I'll never forget what he did for me that day. He gave me the courage to continue. No one's ever done anything like that for me. I vowed that day that I'd follow him into any battle. I'd be there alongside him, no matter what. As time went on we came across an elven woman named [Ambreen].

You say, 'Who is Ambreen?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Ambreen was younger than he and I. She knew of the powers of nature. She was able to control the rain which fell from the heavens and would call upon the spirits to aide her. It was obvious that Amstaf took a liking to Ambreen. She ended up coming with is on out crusades. The last I saw of Ambreen was when we went to the snow covered lands of Everfrost. We were wander the lands when a freak [snowstorm] hit us. We were seperated from one another for quite some time.'

You say, 'What snowstorm?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I don't know where it came from, but it was so sudden that it caught us all off guard. The snow quickly became unbearable. I tried to move to higher ground, but was unable to. I was stuck within the snowy confines. I didn't know what to do [next].'

You say, 'What happened next?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'As I laid there my body began to slowly freeze. I knew death was near and accepted the inevitable. Suddenly I felt something clutching at my cloak. I was being dragged upwards out of the snow. A hand pressed against my chest and began to glow. I felt energy pass into my body. Do you know [how] he had saved me?'

You say, 'How did he save you?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'He saved my life by laying his hands upon my body. A few moments later we found Ambreen lying in the snow, her body frozen by the harsh surroundings. We lifted her up off the ground and began to look for [shelter].'

You say, 'What shelter?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'We ended up taking refuge within a deserted cabin not to far from our location. We knew that we didn't have much time left to bring life back into her body. However, the storm didn't pass through and we knew we couldn't venture to far without the fear of freezing. I warmed the cabin and rested for some time thinking about what we were going to do. It wasn't long before my exhaustion took over. I fell into a deep [slumber] that night.'

You say, 'What slumber?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'That night I dreamt of many things. Random thoughts kept swirling around my mind. I kept seeing the image of a cloaked being and of Amstaf circled around a fire. I saw Ambreen's body convulsing above the fire as if life was being brought back to it. I don't know what happened that night. I don't even know if what i dreamt was real, but before I awoke I saw a [strange image].'

You say, 'What strange image?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I saw Amstaf lower his head and walked away in silence. He was surronded by two beings carrying a torch. I don't know what it meant, but I swear it was so real. When I awoke both Amstaf and Ambreen were gone. Please find Llara and give this pendant to her. This pendant belonged to Amstaf. She too had a vision that night that may clear things up. If she asks where you got it from, mention my name.'

You receive a Pendant.

Next you need to find Llara. She is standing on a rock in Dagnor's Cauldron, just outside of the Estate of Unrest.

Llara says 'Oh my! This belongs to Amstaf. Where did you get it?

You say, 'Kanthuk gave it to me'

Llara says 'I take it you're here to find out more about [Amstaf].'

You say, 'Who was Amstaf?'

Llara says 'I've known Amstaf since he was a child. We grew up in the same city together. Ever since I've known him there's always been something [unusual] about him.'

You say, 'What was unusual?'

Llara says 'When we were growing up we used to venture outside the city gates. Some times we would encounter a wandering ghoul or an undead spirit of some sort. He was always able to quickly dismiss the undead being with very little effort. I [learned] many things growing up with Amstaf.'

You say, 'What did you learn?'

Llara says 'Amstaf told me many things when we were younger. Once Amstaf told me that life isn't about how you get there, it's about where you end up. I miss my dear friend. Its been a long time since I've seen him. The night of the snowstorm I dreamt about him. I remember seeing Amstaf's face. I saw something I've never [seen] before.'

You say, 'What did you see?'

Llara says 'I saw desperation. I spoke to many people who knew Amstaf trying to find out if anyone heard anything about that night. No one knew anything about it. When I had reached the dwarven hunting grounds I ran into a woman named Walnan. She kept rambling on and on about the power of the Orb and something about Magi`kot. I didn't understand what she was saying. She didn't know anything about my situation either, but she did tell me that there were others that may be able to help me. She told me that I should find [Ruathey].'

You say, 'Who is Ruathey?'

Llara says 'Ruathey is known for her ability to look into people's souls and find truth. Though I wasn't able to find Amstaf, I was able to recover his sword. I believe that by having his sword I am closer to finding him. Take this note to Ruathey and tell her that I sent you.

You can find Ruathey in Lavastorm Mountains, near the Nektulos Forest zoneline.

You say, 'Hail Ruathey'

Ruathey says 'Hello Chork .'

Ruathey says 'I see that you've spoken to Llara. She too came to me looking for Amstaf. Though she wasn't able to find her friend, she was able to recover his [sword].

You say, 'What sword?'

Ruathey says 'I've heard stories about a holy sword. There are many rumored to be hidden all throughout the world, yet only a few have actually been found. Amstaf had one of these swords. It is known for its ability to dismiss the undead. Perhaps by having this sword it'll bring you closer to finding your friend. Gather a ghoul's heart, Amstaf's Scroll, the Blade of Nobility, a noblemans hilt and place them in this [bag].'

You say, 'What bag?'

Ruathey says 'Take this bag and gather the items I've mentioned. I've been told that the Ghoul's Heart can be found in the estate of the undead, while the scroll can be found in the Keep not far from the Karanas. One of the others are rumored to be found near the dwarven city among the goblins. While the last should be found in the caverns of Najena.

For those of you who haven't figured it out, you will need to go to Butcherblock, HighKeep, Unrest, and Najena.

Your target is Crazed Ghouls in Unrest, Crazed Goblins in HighKeep and skeletons in Najena (named "a skeleton").

All the mobs that need to be killed are 25 to up to 35, and the items appear to be uncommon drops.

You combine these 4 items in the bag Ruathey gave you and You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

You are holding a Ghoulbane.
Reward: Ghoulbane
