Quests for The Feerrott

Gnome Gnews (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Spanner Scrapsnatcher'

Spanner Scrapsnatcher says 'You know, you can go greet yourself. Converse with yourself and then see yourself off while you're at it. I've had enough of this place. To be honest, I've just thought about it and I think that I've had quite enough of you as well. So mate, unless you're holding my bag of fame and fortune... as promised to me last week by our huge headed friend over there... I think that it would be best if you shambled off. Please feel free to take the Erudite with you.'

You say, 'What fame and fortune?'

Spanner Scrapsnatcher says 'Oh dun give me the 'what fame and fortune routine'. I'm sure that you're not poking around in the dark jungle because you heard some orphans needed rescuing, you greedy looking wretch. Bah... you've heard the stories about the temple too, haven't ya? That is of course why you're here, right? Looking for your cut?'

You say, 'What stories?'

Spanner Scrapsnatcher says 'The lass here told me that she'd be needing me to do some poking around in that temple. Of course being the handsome gentleman that I am and all, I told her that I'd take a look or two. You know a charitable and chivalrous bloke like me would perform such a task for free, but then the Errordite has to go and pry me with stories of riches and... err... a little fame. So, I says, sure... I'll do it since you're begging me and all... now look at us. Deep in the swamp and covered in black monster mucous.'

You say, 'What black monster mucous?'

Spanner Scrapsnatcher says 'I dunno what to tell you. I woke up our first morning here to find all of my gear covered in this nasty slime. Most of the stuff crawled off, but now our goods are ruined. I'll be happy when I can get a nice change of clothes. If you happen into some sporty gnome sized clothing let me know.'

Prathun from the EQLive Development Team has confirmed that this is simply funny banter and not really a quest.

You say, 'What mail?'

Drizda Tunesinger says 'The League of Antonican Bards has a courier system made up of travelers and adventurers. We pay good gold to anyone who will take messages from bards such as myself to one of our more central offices. Are you [interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested.'

Drizda Tunesinger says 'I have messages that need to go to - well, right now I have one that needs to go to Freeport. Will you [deliver] mail to [Freeport] for me?'

You say, 'i will deliver mail to Freeport.'

Drizda Tunesinger says 'Take this letter to Felisity Starbright. You can find her at the bard guild hall. I'm sure she will compensate you for your trouble.'

Necromantic Discoveries (Unsolved): You say, 'Hail, Eleann Morkul'

Eleann Morkul says 'Welcome friend, you're a great leap from any sort of civilization. What brings you to this foul place? Are you an adventurer or just a connoisseur of wretched foliage and damp clothing?'

You say, 'I am an adventurer.'

Eleann Morkul says 'Well, I gathered as much, but I try to avoid assumptions. Are you by chance heading to the temple? It seems to be quite a draw for adventurers and academics alike. Though we've yet to witness either group leave the structure once they've entered it.'

You say, 'What temple?'

Eleann Morkul says 'The temple of the lizardmen. The lost temple of Cazic-Thule. It's just to the east of here... Across the river.'

You say, 'I am heading to the temple.'

Eleann Morkul says 'Well, take care and prepare for the most horrific of possibilities, my friend. Our trip has been terrifying enough and we've yet to enter the temple itself. I've seen enough from here to confirm some of the rumors that we were sent to investigate.'

You say, 'What rumors?'

Eleann Morkul says 'The Academy sent my colleagues and I to investigate several reports about Tae Ew tribal activity that have found their way to Freeport during the course of the last lunar cycle. The rumors stated that the primitive creatures have made several great discoveries of a necromantic nature in an incredibly short time. I was assigned to gather any artifacts and information that I could uncover. If you should learn more about their magic, please return to me before we leave and you will be rewarded.'

Need all current dialogues, current faction hits if any, missing quest items, list of rewards, /loc of quest mobs, fight info, etc.
The Crude Bone Altar (Normal): This quest begins with Aqaar Aluram, located at -1460, +1046 in a camp with Eleann Morkul and Spanner Scrapsnatcher on the edge of a hillside...

You say, 'Hail, Aqaar Aluram'

Aqaar Aluram says 'Hail, traveler. May I assist you with something, or are you just passing through?'

You say, 'i'm just passing through'

Aqaar Aluram says 'Very well, friend. Please take care when passing beyond the river to the east. Several researchers and their mercenary escort passed through our camp en route to the temple. That was last week and they have yet to return. We are holding off on our expedition until we can learn more about what happened to them.'

You say, 'What temple?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'The temple of the lizardmen. The lost temple of Cazic-thule. It's just to the east of here... across the river.'

You say, 'What expedition?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'Several weeks ago, I received the news from M'lady Morkul that the Academy was researching this temple. It had been years since I last visited this site, so naturally I was interested. Of course, that was before we set camp in this accursed place. I must be honest; I was quite ready to leave after our first night here.'

You say, 'What first night?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'After securing the site, we set sentinels to alert us to any patrols or prying jungle eyes. Unfortunately, our magic did little to provide us with a night's rest that eve. The incessant sound of drums and the screams from within the temple had little regard for our lack of rest and already nervous disposition. Several times during the course of my slumber that night, I was taunted by foul visions of an unnatural sort.'

You say, 'What visions?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'My mind was filled with images of grotesque rituals. The lizards that inhabit that place were gathered around magical portals, chanting in a tongue too wretched to recall. As they spoke and danced, the denizens of some horrid void were pouring from the shimmering rifts! I awoke to find the others in the same state of horror! When I gathered my senses, I noticed that all of our equipment has been covered in some sort of black ooze, though our sentinels displayed no signs of having been triggered.'

You say, 'What black ooze?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'I really cannot recall much about the ooze. We have noticed that our memories seem to be affected by this place as well. I know that the ooze was present when we awoke, but it seemed to have been absorbed into the ground. It moved on its own volition. That is all that I can recall'

You say, 'What happened to the others?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'There was a story that floated about when I was a student. In summary, there was a tome of similar nature to the Phobonomicon. An ambitious mage recovered the tome from the possession of several faceless creatures in the Abysmal Sea. This mage reportedly went quite insane. The story claims that his last act of madness was to cast the tome into a living rift of matter. The rift then opened and released a creature of an unspeakable nature. This cured the mage of his problems... for good. That is why you should return all items of that sort to me.'

You say, 'What phobonomicon?'

Aqaar Aluram says 'A Phobonomicon, book of fear, is rumored to be creatable through the use of rituals and tools too disturbing to describe. Once the ritual or process is complete, the book will begin to take on its own... life, for lack of a better word. The book of fear is capable of unthinkable magic. Watch yourself, should you stumble into such a tome.'

To create the Phobonomicon, you need to collect the following items in Cazic Thule:

- Crude Bone Altar (container from "a Thulian High Ritualist" at the top of the northeastern pyramid)
- Black Powdered Incense (dropped by "a Thul Tae Ew judicator" in the Avatar pyramid)
- Flesh Bound Tome (dropped by "a Thul Tae Ew lifestealer" in the temple area)
- Tear Encrusted Obsidian Quill (rare drop from Thul Tae Ew bloodcallers, defenders, justicars, and zealots in the pyramid area)
- Black Ooze Phylactery (dropped by "a pool of black ooze", common spawn upon death of Thul Tae Ew lizardmen mobs)

The Flesh Bound Tome is written in Lizardman, and reads:
Like the mist that rolls through the jungles, the screams of the soft and terrified will fill the fields and hills of this land.

-=The voids shall open=-

Primordial memories of things that rest in the darkness of ancient voids will force the screaming souls to look towards the Faceless for an end.

His will shall fill their minds like the mist the rolls through the jungle.

-=This is the instrument of gathering=-

The black ichor of the Faceless brings life to its pages.

Dark smoke pours from the alter, like fear from the weak.

A quill desecrated in terror will inscribe the summoning words.

The bones of the alter cast shadows of things to come in this ceremony of ancient rites.

When combined, the summoning shall ensue.

When cast into the living void, the Phobonomicon shall pull from the coldest void of Fear, an ancient horror of an age forced from the memory by terror.

=============
Thul Tae Ew, the reign of blood will begin.
=============

When you combine the ooze, quill, incense, and tome together in the crude bone altar, it produces a "Phobonomicon of Thul Tae Ew". The Phobonomicon can either be handed in to Aqaal Aluram or turned in to the living void on the top of the northeastern pyramid.

If you hand in the phobonomicon to Aqaal Aluram, you receive the Medallion of the Arcane Scientists:

Aqaar Aluram says 'Thank you for returning this to us. I'll secure it until it can be returned for analysis. Please take this as a sign of my appreciation.'
You gain party experience!!
You receive 1 platinum from Aqaar Aluram.

If, instead, you give the phobonomicon to the living void, it summons a horror construct:

A loud explosion sends ripples of energy through the air! Matter seems to lose its substance, but quickly solidifies. A shriek fills your ears, followed by the pounding sound of drums!

The horror construct spawns on top of the pyramid. It's rooted in place; hits for a max ~600; and casts "Vortex of Horror" (AE knockback) and "Horrific Force" (another strong knockback). Levitation effects are recommended for this encounter.

The construct's loot table (drops 4 items per kill):

Amygdalan's Chain Mask
Book of Unspeakable Fear
Earring of Silent Screams
Horror Shard Blade
Loathsome Bludgeon of Depravity
Medallion of the Arcane Scientists
