Quests for Lesser Faydark

Bloodboil (Removed): This quest is no longer active.

You say, 'Hail Talisyn Stormwing'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'Greetings, _____. You must forgive my rather [inhospitable mood] this day, if of course it comes forth to you in what speech we have.'

You say, 'What about your inhospitable mood?'

Talisyn Stormwing says ' I am merely... troubled by the conditions of my change in stations. I once guarded Kelethin from the vile Crushbone Orcs, but it seems a new terror has arisen within our forests. It is the duty of a ranger, and I do not complain in the least, but the [mutilation and corruption] that slithers through the forest still brings a pain of anger to my heart.

You say, 'What about the mutilation and corruption?'

Talisyn Stormwing furrows his troubled brow in confusion and surprise. 'You need ask such a question and receive answers in the form of words to understand what it is that surrounds you, Danian ? Have you neither heard nor seen the vile creatures that inhabit the putrid lands of Mistmoore to the south? Or have you not seen the creatures forged from the very shadows that lie not to far from our homelands? The Teir`Dal beasts that have made camp not too far from the entrance of Mistmoore's lair? These evils, some ancient beyond our pilgrimage from Tunaria, have torn and marred these precious, beautiful forests. Unfortunately, a [greater evil] has descended, and thus my presence here.

You say, 'What about the greater evil?'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'Not too far in the recent past did Firiona Vie, the lovely and gracious Champion of Tunare, return to our homelands. In her return, she sought to bring forth the avatar of our sacred Mother to seek guidance on her path -- the path of Elven Kind. Little did the Champion know that The Faceless was close at bay, and through means unknown, his power was greater than that of our sacred Mother's. In a petty display of his new found power, the Lord of Fear [furthered the corruption] of these natural lands.

You say, 'What furthered the corruption?'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'I cannot say for sure, and neither can our elders. None know for certain how or why this was done. All we know is that [the beings that were closest to Tunare's grace] were reaved from her grasp, and now roam as the undead or worse.

You say, 'What about the beings that were closest to Tunare's grace?'

Talisyn Stormwing closes his eyes and bows his head for a moment as if in mourning. 'The Faerie Folk that called this place their home have been changed into unnatural monsters of Cazic's will. They thirst for mortal blood and flesh, and have lost all innocent, grace, and reason that was once their existence. But they seem incomparable to [the greatest loss] to be turned in Cazic-Thule's favor.

You say, 'What is the greatest loss?'

Talisyn Stormwing raises his head, his features remaining solemn but stern. 'Equestrielle, the maiden unicorn, was corrupted by The Faceless himself and through vile trickery, he convinced the angered and frightened Firiona to remove her horn to cease the spreading of the disease. In honor and regret, the Champion did so, but now that once beautiful and sacred being roams as a blood thirsty, uncaring monster who kills any and all mortal beings. She is why I was sent, as The Heartwood Master knew that any other would end her life in mercy or the others she would harm and thus he entrusted to me [these tasks].'

You say, 'what about these tasks?'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'I am here to observe, warn the travelers that would pass through these infected lands, and to gather what evidence that I can to further the research of the council of magics at Felwithe. However, as I am the only one that has been charged with such tasks, it has been quite difficult. I do not know if I can withstand seeing such destruction and chaos before even I find mercy to be the proper route. If only they would send [assistance], if only for a day.'

You say, 'I will assist you'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'I would be eternally grateful for your company, _____ and your pledge to this cause. However, I cannot expect anything of you. If [you are sure] that you would be willing to aid all of the Faydark, then I will be willing to give forward what knowledge I have gathered thus far.'

You say, 'I am sure'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'Then I thank you, _____, and the entire Faydark thanks you. I have been studying and gathering evidence of the [Frightlings], or the distorted Pixies. I have already given several specimens of these creatures to the researchers, but I have found a great use for them beyond research. If you can bring to me one of their every so tiny skulls, I will do all in my power to cleanse that object so that it may aid you further in the tasks of the forest.'

You say, 'What about the frightlings?'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'The Frightlings are what the corrupted Pixies have been calling themselves. I have found through my extensive scouting of the area that one called Bilewretch who acts as their leader. I have dreamed for many days now of his destruction at my bow, but unfortunately that would cause me to abandon my post, and leave myself vulnerable to attacks from the [Undead Sprites.] However, as you have pledged yourself to the cause, if you would bring me proof of Bilewretch's destruction, I shall reward you greatly for your service.'

You say, 'What about the undead sprites?'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'They are the twisted monsters of what used to be the noble Faeries of the forest. Now, they are but fleshy beings that desire only to bring death for their dark amusements. As with the Frightlings, these unnatural beasts are lead by a fearsome creature that has named himself Bloodboil. Another despicable being that I wish to bring a swift death to, but cannot for fear of abandoning my post and failing my master. If you would be so brave and bring to me proof of this monster's demise, your efforts will not go unrewarded.'

Talisyn wants you to obtain a wing dropped by an undead sprite named Bloodboil. Bloodboil spawns in the middle of the mushrooms. The wing is an uncommon drop. If you bring back the wing, you will get your reward. Reward: Emerald Cloak of the Faydark

Brownies of Doom (Normal): Nitalla is a fae at the very first tree, at 1780, -1173.

You say, 'Hail, Nitalla'

Nitalla says 'Greetings _____. From the looks of you, you've seen a bit of trouble in the past. You seem to have come out of it alright though. Perhaps you'd be willing to [listen] to a short tale and then consider helping us save the forest?'

You say, 'I'm willing to listen'

Nitalla says 'As you may know there is a cursed unicorn in this forest known as Equestrielle. For quite a while we have simply regarded her as a lost soul and a pest at worst. But lately it seems she has found a way to spread her corruption amongst the [denizens] of the forest.'

You say, 'Which denizens?'

Nitalla says 'We are most concerned about our friends the brownies. The majority of them seem to have fallen victim to Equestrielle's corruption and they have become violent when approached by anyone. The corruption has spread amongst the rest of the forest as well, causing normally passive creatures to become aggressive and unthinking. There is [hope] though.'

You say, 'What hope?'

Nitalla says 'We have discovered a way of freeing creatures from this corruption, but there are two difficulties with it. The first is we are not able to both cast the spell needed and defend ourselves from the attacks of the corrupted creatures. This would not be much of an issue if it were not for the [second] difficulty.'

You say, 'What is the second difficulty?'

Nitalla says 'We would just ask adventurers such as yourself to help us free the creatures of their corruption, but only those of fay blood are able to manage the spells correctly. I think I may have a solution to the problem if you would be willing to lend us your [assistance].'

You say, 'I will lend you my assistance.'

Nitalla says 'If you would be [willing] to be transformed into a brownie for a short while you should be able to use our magic. With your adventuring expertise you should be able to help us end this corruption in short order.'

You say, 'I am willing.'

Nitalla says 'This is perfect. Please go see Telara near the brownie village west of here. She will help you with the transformation and teach you what you will need to know regarding the magic.'

You have been assigned the task 'Brownies of Doom'.

A hidden corruption has spread amongst the denziens of the Faydark forest. You must allow yourself to be transformed into a Brownie to uncover this evil.

Speak to Telara who resides in the western edge of the forest. She will instruct you further.

Time to choose monster templates. There are three choices: a Brownie druid, ranger, or mage. You get three spells, some AA points to spend for your chosen class, and one person gets a Fayblood Wand. The wand procs Eternal Lull on the brownie at 30% and it removes their corrupt status.

Brownie druids get a heal, slow and root.
Brownie mages get two nukes and a DoT.
Brownie rangers get a weapon.

Speak to Telara near the brownie village 0/1 (Lesser Faydark)

Telara may be found at +1940, +2955.

You say, 'Hail, Telara'

Telara says 'Oh! You must have been sent by Nitalla. I do hope you are able to handle the corrupt brownies, none of the fairies have been able to have any effect on them yet. Yet the power of this wand I have should let you free the brownies. But only brownies can wield it. I can, however, temporarily change you into brownies so that you may wield it. Let me help you with the enchantment and then I can give you this wand. Let me know when you are [prepared].'

You say, 'We are prepared.'

Telara tosses some fairy dust in the air. 'Hold on, this may tickle a little.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Lesser Faydark: Brownies of Doom.

After Telara has turned you into a Brownie, speak to her again to get the wand 0/1 (Lesser Faydark)

Telara is located at the zone-in of the instance.

You say, 'Hail, Telara'

Telera giggles. 'There! So much better. Tee hee! Now that you are brownies, I can give you this wand that only brownies and their kin may wield. You must use it to free the corrupted brownies. But the magic contained within is not strong enough on its own so you first must weaken them for it to work. Be careful though, for the magic of the wand is limited and will surely run out if you use it too much. Oh. . .and if you wish to return to your normal self. . .just let me know that you wish to [leave].

Rescue 15 corrupted brownies 0/15 (Lesser Faydark)

Search through the forest to find the corrupted brownies and use the power of the wand to free them. You must be sure to weaken them near death, or the magic will have no effect.

All brownies in this zone are corrupt and are very aggressive. It's probably a good idea to pull them to the wall to fight. They also spawn in the same spot, so mark the spots on your map and go back and forth between them.

Upon freeing a brownie:

a corrupted brownie says 'Thank you so much! Please help free the others.'

Slay Equestrielle the Corrupted 0/1 (Lesser Faydark)

Equestrielle is the cause of this. Hunt her down to stop the corruption from spreading further. Return to Telara and ask to leave once you are victorious and she shall help you return to your normal form.

Equestrielle roams the entire zone. Find her and attack...

Equestrielle the Corrupted says 'You shall die this day, foolish whelp, but it is not unto me that you will give you life, but to Firiona Vie's failure you shall perish!'

Equestrielle the Corrupted has been slain by _____!

Equestrielle the Corrupted was a trivial challenge for your party!

Equestrielle the Corrupted's corpse says 'A single battle you have won, but so quick to think that this will be the end? I, like Fear, am eternal, and in your dreams, I shall forever haunt.'

Tell Telara you wish to leave and then speak with Nitalla 0/1 (Lesser Faydark)

You say, 'We wish to leave.'

Telara says 'Very well brave adventurer. Stand still for a moment while I cast the necessary spell.'

Child of Innoruuk (Removed): This quest is no longer active.

You say, 'Hail Zyrria I`Vanres'

Zyrria I`Vanres narrows her eyes as she briefly but carefully studies the Wolf Elemental before her. A look of irritation crosses her features as she exhales slowly in a faint growl. 'Yes? State your business, Kaylorn . One such as I has not the time for idle and pointless conversation. There are much more [meaningful tasks] to which of my esteemed position and power of skills must attend.'

You say, 'What about meaningful tasks'

Zyrria I`Vanres raises her brow sharply, her beautiful features twisting in disgust and surprise. 'Are you to say that you do not recognize who and what I am? I am Zyrria I`Vanres of the Ebon Mask, sent here by my master, Tani N`Mar. Within Neriak, I am second to only him in rank and power, although I chose not to dabble in the political affairs that have abound in our city, thus why I am not widely recognized. My place lies elsewhere - in the shadows. I am a rogue, after all; a keeper of secrets and a bargainer with chance. Despite this location, tainted with the disgusting stench of the Fier`Dal, Tani has made quite an intelligent decision in sending me here to [observe]. It is most pleasing to have one recognize my talents and put them to an important use.'

You say, 'What about observe'

Zyrria I`Vanres says 'The forest, not to dodge the most abase of answers. Much of [great interest] to the Ebon Mask has occurred here in these past days. In fact, so interesting that I believe I might be so lucky as to gain council with the [Child of Innoruuk] regarding my reports here.

You say, 'what about great interest'

Zyrria I`Vanres says 'Not too long ago, the powers of The Faceless touched these lands. In his wake, he left behind some... things of interest. Alterations to the frail nature of this area, if you will. All of which seems rather trivial for a divine power of his stature and following, but amusing none the less. What has been done to the [precious maiden unicorn] is by far the most pleasing news I have had in many years.

You say, 'what about precious maiden unicorn'

Zyrria I`Vanres smiles wickedly as her eyes light with a sadistic amusement. Equestrielle, a creature that was said to be closest to Tunare in its creation and existence. A being that represents purity, faith, honor, and life. No more does she show such things, as she is now a being of Cazic-Thule's will. How marvelous, is it not? There are some I know who find it most tragic. A forest filled with sobbing fair elves! Hahaha! And to think, this greatest wonder came from the hand of Firiona Vie herself! It is a pity that one cannot obtain the horn as the champion carries it with her, but I believe I could make do without. Bring me two hides of a blighted mare and two enchanted platinum bars. They may not be Equestrielle herself, but they are steeds of The Faceless's creation.

When you turn in the two blighted mare hides + 2 bars of enchanted plat you get a pack that has 30% weight reduction and holds medium items. Here is the text that follows...

Zyrria I`Vanres says 'Excellent... oh, wait, damn. I can't use these. The properties I was searching for seemed to have vanished in the death of the creature, although they are not entirely useless. I cannot let you go without reward, it would be a foolish loss of investment. Here, at least these hides should be of some use to someone. It is truly a pity that I cannot obtain Equestrielle's horn. What glorious perversions we could create in furthering its corruption and pushing Tunare farther away from these lands/ Unfortunately for us, this is Cazic-Thule's territory, and so [his minions] have come to lay claim to such spectacular finds.

Your faction standing with EbonMask got better.
Your faction standing with GuardsofQeynos got worse.
Your faction standing with WolvesoftheNorth got worse.
Your faction standing with GuardiansoftheVale gotworse.
Your faction standing with CarsonMcCabe got
worse.
You gain experience!!

You say, 'what aboout his minions'

Zyrria I`Vanres says 'There is one called Ytharisth Nerishar, an Iksar and supposed officer of the Cult of the Arisen. I have made attempts several times to make peace with him and bargain for researching territory, but he seems adamant about keeping all of this for himself and his people. Perhaps... no, no I would be asking too much of one as yourself, and although you have proven yourself worthy of being my loyal dog, I do not think you are quite the type to perform any acts of diplomacy.
Staff of Elemental Flux (Normal): Mithious Scratch may be found at +1590, +770.

You say, 'Hail, Mithious Scratch'

Mithious Scratch says 'Well hello there my friend! It is always good to see a fellow Wizard. I see that you have visited Solusek's Temple and proved worthy of the tasks they set before you! If you wish, wise Wizard, I can perform a minor incantation on your Staff of Temperate Flux that will dramatically increase its power! All I require is 100 platinum pieces in exchange - the components for the spell are quite expensive!'

Give him 100 pp and your Staff of Temperate Flux.

Mithious Scratch pats his pockets, looking for something. You hear him mutter as he searches. Suddenly he straightens and you hear him say 'Ah, never mind the instructions! I remember how to do it.'

Mithious Scratch breaks your staff of Temperate Flux!

Mithious Scratch says 'Oh, dear! Um, I'm really sorry, friend, but I seem to have, er, broken your staff. . .I just couldn't seem to find the document I was looking for but I was so sure I remembered how to do it! I don't know what to say. . .'

Mithious Scratch says 'Listen, I think there is a way for us to put this right, you and I. If we work together on this I'm sure we'll both come out ahead. Go visit my, um, friend Nathen. He is studying in the Library in Erudin. He should have another copy of the document I need. Bring that to me and we will fix your staff and see if we can't make it a little stronger in the process!'

Mithious Scratch says 'Don't mind anything he may say about me, though, that Nathen is a real jokester! You know on second thought you might not want to mention me. Nathen, um, might think it's funny to tell you no if you mention me. . .Return to me with the Instructions you will obtain from Nathen to me and we will continue on.'

You receive A Broken Staff of Temperate Flux (identifies as "The staff's power has bled out through a lengthwise crack"). Head to the Vasty Deep Inn in Erudin, then to the last room on the left on the first floor to find Nathen Starr at -1100, +65.

You say, 'Hail, Nathen Starr'

Nathen Starr says 'Well hello ______! Let me guess - Mithious sent you, right? No, no, it's not that surprising that I guessed. I had a feeling he would be sending somebody along soon enough and I recognize that look of desperation in your eyes - you're definitely mixed up with Mithious and he sent you to get the Instructions he needs. Somehow I knew he would still be able to cause some trouble, even while on the run from the Priests of Solusek. Well I know I really shouldn't help that scoundrel out but you seem like a good sort so why don't we [help each other]?'

You say, 'Help each other?'

Nathen Starr says 'Well I can't just give you the document ______. It's very rare and I do not have a copy. But if you get me an Automated Quill and a piece of Parchment I can copy it for you. I used to have a very nice Automated Quill that a friendly Gnome made for me but it went missing the last time Mithious stopped by pestering me on some mad quest to gain power. In any case return to me with an Automated Quill and Parchment and I will give you a copy of this document.'

Hand in a Geerlok Automated Quill (crafted) and A Piece of Parchment (storebought).

Nathen Starr says 'Excellent! Well now let me just dash off a quick copy. . . and here you go! And now just one word of advice to you, my friend. Watch your step with Mithious. He is not to be trusted, no matter how sincere he seems. Now I must return to my studies. Good day to you!'

You receive Augmentation Instructions for a Staff of Power (identifies as "A detailed description of a complex incantation"). Head back to Mithious and hand it in.

Mithious Scratch says 'Oh, of course! I had the incantation right but I was using the wrong ingredients. Well this is simple enough, we just need the ingredients. Fetch me a [powerful solvent] and a Blue Diamond and return with these instructions and your, er, broken staff, and we should have everything we need to create for you a Staff of truly awesome power!'

You immediately receive it back in a slightly different form (identifies as "The pages have been smudged by a hasty inspection").

You say, 'What powerful solvent?'

Mithious Scratch says 'I just happen to know that a certain Alchemist named Bauer recently moved into a room in Freeport. I'm sure if you speak with him he will give you what you need. Do whatever you have to do to get the solvent from him - whatever it takes ______!'

Head to West Freeport and find Alchemist Bauer on the second floor of the Jade Tiger Den at -295, -535, -69.

You say, 'Hail, Alchemist Bauer'

Alchemist Bauer says 'Oh no! I knew he would send someone once he found me! Isn't it enough that he took my Leesa? Why does he hound me so! Well, ______, I'll send him a message with your cold, dead, body!'

He attacks. Once he's dead, loot A Powerful Solvent (identifies as "A powerful solvent created by a brilliant Alchemist"). Head back to Mithious again.

You say, 'Hail, Mithious Scratch'

Mithious Scratch says 'Well hello again ______. Have you done what I asked?'

Give him A Broken Staff of Temperate Flux, Augmentation Instructions for a Staff of Power (the latter version), A Powerful Solvent, and a Blue Diamond.

Mithious Scratch says 'Haha! You fool! With this staff I will be able to challenge the mighty Solusek Ro himself! I could not have obtained the original Staff on my own - the Priests of Solusek had barred me from their temple after I 'removed' that worthless priestess Leesa when she got in my way. But now you come along and deliver not only the Staff but everything I need to create a version even more powerful than the one used by Solusek's own minions! And the crowning glory is you got rid of that whiner Bauer for me as well! My thanks, pitiful fool!'

He respawns and attacks (he's a wizard). Loot the Staff of Elemental Flux from his corpse. Reward: Staff of Elemental Flux

The Frightlings (Removed): This quest is no longer active.

You say, 'Hail Talisyn Stormwing'

Talisyn Stormwing says 'Greetings, _____. You must forgive my rather [inhospitable mood] this day, if of course it comes forth to you in what speech we have.'

Go to the tower in Lesser Faydark and kill frightlings until one drops a skull. Then return to Talisyn and give him the skull.

Talisyn Stormwing says 'Excellent! Well done, indeed! I trust that you are well from your endeavor with these foul beings? Here, please take this and use it well in your continuing endeavors to purge this foul corruption from these once beautiful forests. I can assure you that it should come of some use, at one time or another.' Reward: Gilded Tiny Skull Earring
